MYDAN, Henry Steve February 24, 1940 - June 7, 2000 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and best friend who passed away from a stroke on June 7, 2000 at the age of 60 years. Henry leaves to mourn Judy, his wife and very best friend of 35 years; his two sons, Mark of White Rock, B.C. and Scott (Liza) of Edmonton; brothers, Larry and family of Edmonton and Ernie (Phyllis) and family of Regina; as well as many dear family and close friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen (1974); and his father, John (1982). We would especially like to thank the nursing and support staff of Unit 4G4 and ICU Unit 4A4 at the University of Alberta Hospital for their efforts and emotional support. Payer Service Sunday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church, 9003-153 Avenue. Divine Liturgy Monday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m.at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church. Very Reverend Don Bodnar officiating with interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. NIEMANN, John Henry April 4, 1904 - June 7, 2000 It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, John Henry Niemann at the age of 96 years. He leaves to mourn his daughters, Edith (Bob) Stein, Margaret Warbuck, Irmie (George) Farrah, Edda (Bill) Sorochan; and his son, Karl (Bernice) Niemann; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Erna; son, Guenter; and son-in-law, Guenter Warbuck. Funeral Service Monday, June 12 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10759-96 Street. Pastor F. Wilhelm officiating with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. ORLESKY, George Basil On June 8, 2000, Mr. George Basil Orlesky of Edmonton passed away at the age of 86 years. Survived by his loving wife, Mary; one sister, Frances Todosichuk of Regina, SK; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Predeceased by his parents and brother, Alex. Divine Liturgy Monday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Church, Krakow, Alberta. Basilian Fathers officiating with interment in the church cemetery. ORTLIEB, Orville Edwin Orville Edwin Ortlieb died June 5th, 2000 at the age of 45. Orville Edwin Ortlieb was dearly loved by family and friends but has passed into the care of our Lord. He will always be remembered for his sense of wit and his love for learning. He will also be remembered for many acts of charity and for his work with the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was known as "the man with the memory"; we are thankful for the memories. Orville is survived by his father, Edwin; and his three brothers, Allen, Ivan and Eldon. He was predeceased by his mother, Vivian in 1991. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the former Millwoods Pentecostal Assembly, 6608-28 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta with Pastor Brad Olson officiating. Interment will follow at Evangelical Missionary Church Cemetery, New Sarepta. PARRENT, Fred Joseph On Monday, June 5, 2000 Fred Parrent of Ironwood Estates in St. Albert, formerly of the Alberta community of Clyde, passed away in Saint Albert at the age of 82 years. He was born locally in 1917 at Jeffrey, Alberta, the only son from a union of Ferdinand Parrent (b: 1881) and Marie Lillian Lanouette (b: 1892). He is survived by his wife (62 years), Alice Elizabeth Behiels; son, Edwin J. (and Sharon) of Calgary; two daughters, Maureen E. Carriere of Edmonton and Louise S. (and Don) Borduzak of Legal. Already missing Grandpere are nine grandchildren, Nicholle (Robert) Haviar of Edmonton, Kevin and Gisele Carriere of Vancouver, Robert (Sharlene) Carriere of Edmonton, Rochelle (Kurt) Pomerleau of Calgary, Kim (Barry) Morrissette of Calgary, Robyne Parrent of Canmore, Michelle (Darrell) Flatla of Legal and Marcus Borduzak also of Legal; five great-grandchildren, Christian and Candiss Pomerleau, Matej Haviar, Matthew and Nolan Flatla, will later remember Gran-gran Papa. He leaves his three living sisters, Laura Behiels of Leduc, Clara Middlestead of Grande Prairie and Margaret (Walter) Dowhaniuk of Calgary. A younger sister, Irene Middlestead predeceased Fred. He leaves to mourn many cherished relatives, neighbors, friends and acquaintances. We are sure he was most grateful for these lifetime contacts made and those of late, Dr. L. Read and the caring staff at the Sturgeon General Hospital. He intentionally added all these contacts made and held them as a close personal treasure. Mr. Parrent was a Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3948 (Westlock) Original Charter Member 1954. Also Council 4742 (St. Albert) Current 3rd Degree Member. Prayers will be held at St. Albert Funeral Home (Hwy #2 and St. Vital Ave.) on Friday, June 9, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. and your attendance is welcomed by the family. RODE (nee HAZELWOOD), M. Ellen May 9, 1943 - June 6, 2000 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ellen Rode of Wetaskiwin at the age of 57 years. Ellen will be missed by her loving family; her husband of 36 years, Alf; her sons, Lorne (Tina) of Wetaskiwin, Edward (Sharon) of Airdrie, Darcy (Christine) of Denver, Colorado; and her six grandchildren. Ellen also leaves her mom and dad, Slim and Mary Hazelwood of Red Deer; sisters, Lorna (John) Beaudoin of Ponoka, Marjorie (Pete) Rechel of Ft. McMurray; brothers, Jack (Rae) of Lethbridge, Jim (Lynette) of Red Deer; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Baker Funeral Chapel, 5302-50 Avenue, Wetaskiwin on Saturday, June 10, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bert Moriartey officiating. ROUSE (KINNEY), Marian Irene Marian Irene Rouse (Kinney) died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 4, 2000 at the Bow View Manor in Calgary. Prior to moving to Bow View, Mom lived at the Renoir for 11 years. Marian was born on September 10, 1910 and was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1990; brothers Jimmie and Wilfred; and her sisters Dorothy and Margaret. Mom (the Nana) is survived by her son John, his wife Joan and their son Graeme with whom she had a very special relationship. She is also survived by her nieces. Marian was always involved in community activities in conjunction with her husband Jim's career with the Northern Alberta Railways. The McLennan Hospital Auxiliary, Peace Curling Association and the Royal Purple all benefited from her enthusiastic and tenacious involvement. Marian and her sister Dorothy formed the Kinney School of Dance in Edmonton and prior to that she studied dance in Toronto and New York. The family wishes to express its gratitude and thanks for the warm and compassionate care Mom received from the staff on the Crowfoot Unit at Bow View Manor, Judy Dixon and the homecare staff, and to Dr. John Van Olm. Following a Private Family Service, friends are invited to attend a reception at the Renoir, 9229-16 Street SW, Calgary on Friday, June 16 between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. to celebrate Marian's life. SEGUIN, Flora On June 6th, 2000 Mrs. Flora Seguin of Westlock passed away aged 88 years. She is survived by her children, Norman (Gib) of Spruce Grove, Roland (Antonia) of Westlock, Claudette Kiejko of Westlock, Joanne Seguin of Sherwood Park, Leo (Bonnie) of St. Alberta, 24 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was predeceased by his husband, Wilfrid; son, Richard, brothers and sisters, Albert, Simeon, Vital, Gerard, Almoza, Doria, Olida, Aurore and Marie-Ange. SOPER, Evelyn On Tuesday, June 6, 2000, Evelyn Soper of Sherwood Park, Alberta, born March 2, 1935 in Bloomsbury, Alberta, passed away at the age of 65 years. She leaves to mourn her partner, Ken Klimosko; son, Terry; daughters, Diane, Cindy and Andrea; grandchildren, Derek, Travis, Beverly, Adam, Melissa, Nathan and Mitchell; her loving mother, Olga Stark; sister, Shirley, brother-in-law, George; brother, Raymond and sister-in-law, Wendy; and many very special nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. Evelyn was predeceased by her father, Ludwig; brother, Alex; and grandson, Curtis.
