HNYTKA, John
February 8, 1947 — April 14, 2010

John Hnytka passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 63. John is survived by his loving aunts: Stella (Stanley) of Redwater, AB, Rose (John) of Radway, AB and Nettie of Edmonton, AB, as well as many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. John was predeceased by his dad, Nick in May of 1958 and his mom, Mary in January of 2003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Eldorena Ukrainian Catholic Church with Reverend Stanislav Bjeli officiating. Burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

WOTHERSPOON, Marie

On May 26, 2010 Marie Wotherspoon of Canterbury Court passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years. Marie will be lovingly missed by her son’s, Jim (Sheryl); Ron and Bob (Lana); daughter, Marjorie (Harvey); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Marjorie and brother, Bob of Toronto. Marie is predeceased by her husband, George. A Private Celebration of Marie’s life will be announced at a future date. A special thanks to the staff in the palliative care unit of St. Joseph’s Auxillary. TANGUAY, Dorothy Brosseau
1922 — 2010

Dorothy passed away Monday May 24, 2010. She is survived by one son Aime (Audrey) Brosseau, two daughters Elaine (Ron) Bauer, Norma (Laurier) Pelletier, two sisters Madeliene Kremer and Clara Behiels-Bennett, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her son Albert Brosseau and brother Albert Lesburg. Lotar passed away peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Misercordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Evelyn, his daughter Margaret (Ken) MacDonald of Edmonton, Alberta, with grandchildren Lynn (Terence) Schroeder, Janelle (Jon) Dewarle and Angela (Jeremy) Manthei. Son Larry (Jackie) Roeder of Henderson, Nevada, with grandchildren Crystal (Doug) Hanson, Kurt (Jennifer) Roeder, Kelly (Darryl) Marcocchio, Candace (Ladell) Friesen and David Corey. Son Brian (Ruth) Roeder of Edmonton, Alberta, with grandchildren Scott (Emel) Roeder, Kevin (Masami) Roeder and Alisa (Jim) Vaughan, as well as twelve great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Maria Roeder, brothers William, Walter, Albert, Bernard, Ted and Helmut and a sister Elsie Kuest. PRUDEN, Dorine Mae
August 27, 1928 — May 17, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorine Mae Pruden at the age of 81 years. Dorine will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend to Robert Pruden, her husband of 63 years; sons: Doug (Darlene) Pruden, Jeff Pruden and her daughter Cathy Donnelly; grandchildren: Janelle, Lorne, Nicole, Nadine and Tyler. Dorine was predeceased by her parents Florence and Hubert Thompson and sister Marg Waling. KNIGHT, Alice

On May 27th, 2010 Alice passed away peacefully at the age of 74 years. Greatly missed by her loving partner Don Olund; two daughters: Debby (Allan) Nordal and Wendy (Rob) Villard; son Al (Jacquie) Knight; two sisters: Mary-Anne and Gloria; brother Andre; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Beatrice and father Paul; brothers, Paul and Rodger and sister Cizarine. A Celebration Gathering will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010 between 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. at the Mountwood Senior Citizen Apartment 11512 –128 Street, Edmonton, AB. JODOIN, Guy

On May 22, 2010 Guy Jodoin of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away at the age of 60 years after a battle with cancer. Guy leaves his loving wife Iris, daughter Renee (Barry) and grandchildren Brendan and Dylan, son Ryan, step-mother Delphine, three sisters and four brothers. A Celebration of Guy’s Life will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Bosco Parish, 13503–40 Street, Edmonton, Alberta. Flowers are gratefully declined. JACKMAN, Edward Patrick

On May 17, 2010, Edward Patrick Jackman of Gibbons, Alberta via St. John’s, Newfoundland passed away, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Edward is survived by his loving wife Dianne, his sons: Emmett and James, his daughter: Christine and eight grandchildren.Edward also leaves behind his sisters: Mary (Phil) Roche of Middle Cove, NF; Kathy (Gary) Gosse of Clarenville, NF; sister-in-law Diane Jackman of Calgary, AB and other family members and friends. HISSETT, Harold Henry
September 18, 1931 — May 20, 2010

Harold found peace in the arms of Jesus after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife of 53 years, Evelyn; daughters Lynne (Randy) and Tracy (Glenn); grandchildren Amanda (Hugh), Kelsey, Amy (Rylan), Jordan (Erika), Dallas, Erin, Sarah (Blair), Christy; great-grandchildren Macy and Jacob. Also Harold’s sisters Mary (Ernie), Shirley and brother in-law Irving (Joan) Harold was predeceased by his son Darryl in 2002. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday May 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Marv Ziprick officiating at Bethel Lutheran Church, 298 Bethel Drive, Sherwood Park, Alberta. FUNK, Gwendolyn A.

On Monday May 24, 2010 Gwen Funk of Edmonton passed away at the age of 78 years. Gwen is survived by her husband Fred, nine children; Derek (Sheri) Lingnau, David (Gail) Lingnau, Brian (Fariba) Lingnau, Daniel Lingnau, Barb (Paul) Karczewski, Darcy (Jan) Funk, Aubrey (Judith) Funk, Rodney (Debbie) Funk, and Tim (Tricia) Funk, as well as 15 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Eric Lingnau in 1986 and her only sister Joyce Schamuhn. WEIR, Glen Arnold
July 13, 1951– May 22, 2010

Glen Weir passed away after a short battle with lung and brain cancer.
He is survived by two sisters, Wendy of Richmond BC and Beverly (Dale) of Edmonton AB; a niece and nephew, Ellie of Richmond BC, Andrew (Kristine) of Vancouver BC; three aunts, cousins and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Helen in 1980, along with other family members throughout the years.
A memorial luncheon will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday June 1, 2010 at the Norwood Legion, 11150-82st Edmonton, AB.

WILLIS, Jacqueline Gayle
August 16, 1967 — May 19, 2010

With great sorrow, Fern Willis announces the passing of her daughter Jacqueline; dearly loved by brother Ron (Debbie), sisters Christine (Mike) and Lise (Mike), nieces Micheline, Shannon, Alanna, Kelsey, Bonnie, Gabrielle, nephew Jake, and many, many dear friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her father, Hugh. Jacqueline touched many lives through her associations with the physiotherapy profession, acupuncture, and jewellery design. She will be greatly missed. THOMAS, Daniel Louis
April 26, 1985 — May 17, 2010

Early Monday morning, Danny passed, in an instant, from a scene of unthinkable violence into the presence of his loving heavenly Father at the age of 25 years. Danny enjoyed spending time laughing and playing games with family, but was all too often plagued by seemingly overwhelming life circumstances. While today we mourn our tremendous loss, we also celebrate Danny’s freedom from the challenges of hopelessness, confusion and despair. Danny will be sadly missed by his father Louis; brother Randy; grandmother Mary and uncle Dale, as well as Bonnie, Dale, Mike, Dan, Andrew, Randy, Kelly, Jeff, Matt, Jonathon, Howie, Amanda and their families. STREU, Martha (Nee: Adam)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martha Streu on May 17 at the age of 73 years. Martha will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother by her husband Ewald of almost 52 years; daughter Sylvia (Wally) Wesner; son Harvey (Debbie) Streu and granddaughters: Stephanie, Janelle, Cassandra and Kaylin. She will also be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters: Ed (Hannah), Erna (Albert), Helma (Kurt), Ray (Yvonne), Eric (Betty), Arnie (Bev), Warner (Linda); her brothers and sisters-in-law Otto and Katie, Wanda and Manfred, Henry and Eli, and Sam as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She will always be remembered as someone who loved deeply and gave generously of herself. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed, yet we rejoice in knowing that she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior and that her pain and suffering is no more. SALWAY, Helen

Mildred Salway, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was summoned by our Lord on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2010. Born on November 11, 1928, in Whitewood, Saskatchewan, Helen grew up in the nearby Finnish community of New Finland where her family joined the Lutheran congregation. Her faith remained vital throughout her lifetime. Helen’s friends and family will always remember her intelligence, amazing memory and love of people. She was an excellent cook and an avid organizer of social events. As the proud mom of four boys, she shared in their varied interests in the arts and sports. She also loved to travel and was especially grateful for a trip to England where she was able to meet her husband’s extended family and put flesh to the stories she had heard of them. Helen is survived and forever cherished by her husband Raymond, two sons: Ken and Bruce, daughter-in-law Sheila, grandchildren: Shauna (Mike), Brian and Sara and great grandson Quinn as well as her siblings: Bill, Ethel and Alice. She was predeceased by her sons Randy and Ron and her siblings George, Charlie, Albert and Verna. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Serenity Funeral Chapel, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, with Reverend Fred Albert officiating. McARDLE, Adrienne (Nee; Tougas)

It is our sorrow to announce the passing of Adrienne McArdle (nee Tougas) on May13th, 2010. She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband Jim, her daughter-in-law Carol Clelland, three grandchildren (Rick Traynor, Christopher Clelland, Steven Clelland), one sister, Cecille Dupuis, ten great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, brother-in-law Sandy McArdle and sister-in-law Charlotte Swan and their four children, as well as numerous family members and close friends. Adrienne was predeceased by her sons David and Denis Clelland. HARTLIEB, Helene

On Friday, May 14, 2010 Helene Hartlieb passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years. She is predeceased by her husband Bob, parents, and brother Christian Schumacher. Helene is survived by her brother Philipp (Lilli) Schumacher, niece Heidi (Rick), Ryan and Rebecca Wutzke, nephew Tony Schumacher, niece Tina (Brad) and Parker Tkach, all of Edmonton. She also leaves to mourn her loss her family in Germany: sister Sophie, brother Jacob (Edith), sister Margit (Erhard), Adam (Erika), sister-in-law Anni, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. GUNN, Robert Alan
November 8, 1930 — May 13, 2010

Robert Alan Gunn of Darwell, Alberta passed away after a long battle with cancer. Robert is survived by his wife Jean, son Richard, sister Margaret Dutchak, brother-in-law Alan Carter, three nephews Wayne Zolmer, Sheldon Carter, and Kevin Carter. He was predeceased by his sister Beverly Carter. As per Robert’s request, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place. Remembrances may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

DENNIS, Antoinetta Cimello
April 20, 1942 — May 15, 2010

passed away in Stony Plain, Alberta after a battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Budd Dennis, his seven daughters, one son and their spouses, 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, her brothers, Bill and Joe Cimello, their spouses, a large extended Italian family and many friends. Toni was predeceased by her father Francesco Cimello and her mother Maria Giustina Pilieci Cimello. On Friday June 25, 2010 Gary passed away at the age of sixty-nine years. RYAN, Alister (Al, Ally) Bradley
September 30, 1958 — June 24, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Alister Ryan announces his passing. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anna, sons Michael and Matthew. Alister is also survived by his brothers John (Maggie), Andrew, Ronald and sister Sharlene (Kevin) Dorthy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Andrew, mother Mary, sister Margaret Ann and his beloved uncle, Billy Bradley. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. HURLEY, Gwendoline

HURLEY, Gwendoline Juna (June) June 27, 1926 — June 27, 2010 On June 27th, 1926, June was born, and left us for a better place 84 years later on June 27th, 2010. She will be sadly missed by her husband George, daughter Cherine, son-in-law Terry Fontaine; grand-kids, Colin and Racine, one surviving brother, Ervin (Babe) La Trace, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a very special friend she called “Sis”, Betty Leshenko. She will also be missed by members of the Royal Purple and Elks of Alberta and Canada. She was predeceased by her son Shaun, as well as her mother and father and five brothers and sisters. June was born on a farm near West Bend, Sask. She met and married George Hurley in 1947. She moved to Alberta in the 1950’s where George joined the Oilfield. She moved to different parts of the world before coming back to Canada where George eventually retired and they moved to Edmonton. She was an active member of the Royal Purple for 30 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at the Elks Hall, 11823 — 129 Avenue.
