THOMAS, Donald Harold
December 10, 1925 — September 6, 2012

In this world we come and go, so it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Helen of 58 years; his children Len, Janice (Grant), John (Debbie) and Michael (Christina), his loving grandchildren Angela, Cory (Erica), Joel (Michelle), Leah (Regan), Timothy, Mason, Jesse, Steve (Shayne) and Nathan (Michelle), great-grandchildren Jayden, Hudson, Keaton, Bennett, Maya, and Ambria. His brothers Alvin, Lorne (Doreen), numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Philip and Alvina Thomas, sister Vivian Howard, Lauren (Don) Frey, nephews Brian Frey, Keith Frey and Glen Howard.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5021 — 52 Avenue, Stony Plain, Alberta.
Thus God’s grace means that righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23–24. Memorial donations may be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital (8440 — 112 Street Northwest, Edmonton, AB T6G 2P4) and STARS Ambulance (Suite 16, 29 Airport Road N.W., Edmonton, AB T5G 0W6).

HUNTER, Daniel “Dano” Clinton
1961–2012

It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Clinton Hunter announces his passing.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother Alice, his siblings David, Ruth (Scott), and Chris, his best friend Glen Ritchie and his nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his father Clinton and his sister-in-law Valerie.
Dan is remembered for his culinary and artistic talents, and his herb and flower gardens. At Dan’s request there will not be a Memorial Service. Our family would like to extend a special thank-you to everyone who supported Dan during his long illness.
We are grateful and appreciative for the high quality of care provided by the health care team on Unit 9Y at the Edmonton General Hospital. Condolences can be sent to his mother at huntera.1961@gmail.com.

WANAGAS, Zelma Berdine
November 6, 1927 – October 26, 2012

We are saddened by the passing of Zelma Wanagas, much beloved wife and mother.
Zelma is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Ewald; one daughter: Connie (Graeme) Marsham; three sons: Don (Lyndsay), Larry (Sheryl) and Rollie (Linda). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Aaron, Jessie, Timothy, Dustin, Jamie, Samantha and Alexis. Zelma is also survived by two sisters: Vivian (David) Wiitimaki, Jackie (Oliver) MacKenzie and one brother: Don (Irene) Johnson and sister-in-law Phyllis Johnson of Minnesota. She was predeceased by her parents Arnold and Verna Johnson, brother: Rollie, sister: Patti and her mother and father-in-law: Anna and Gustav Wanagas.
Zelma was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and raised in Minnesota. She married Ewald in 1950, and moved to Canada to start a new life as a wife and mother. Zelma will be fondly remembered by the many friends she made throughout her life. She travelled extensively with Ewald, visiting churches throughout Canada and the U.S. and on occasion overseas. Anywhere she visited she formed bonds that were strongly in place until the day of her passing.
Ewald and family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Laurier House — Lynnwood for the wonderful care Mom received in the last 2 1/2 years of her life. She was always treated with dignity and respect. Special thanks to Tessie, we have grown to love and respect you for the care and compassion you have shown to both Mom and Dad.
A Celebration of Zelma’s Life will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Richmond Park Church (9340 — 69 Avenue N.W., Edmonton). Donations in memory of Zelma can be directed to Global Mission Inc. (Box 934, North Battleford, SK, S9A 2Z7).

SCHEFFEL, Peter

On October 14, 2012 Peter Scheffel passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years.
Peter’s warm personality will be remembered by his son, Peter Duncan; two sisters: Truus van Ameyde, Lien Tinke; brother, Gerry Scheffel; long-time friends: Paul Doucette, Dominic Faltreschi, Leanna Friesen and Murray Sharpe; three nieces and two nephews; and many friends and coworkers. Peter was also a long-time friend of Bill.
A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at The Sawmill Banquet and Catering Centre
(3840 — 76 Avenue, Edmonton).

OSWALD, Walter Wilhelm
September 9, 1924 — October 26, 2012

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, Walter Oswald. Walter was born on September 9, 1924 and passed away on October 26, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife Trudy, son Brian (Heather), daughters Karen (Neil) and Angie (Charlie), grandsons, Devon, Bryce, Sean, and Colin, and his siblings, Lily (Art), Sadie, Elsie, and Wilfred.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church (8405 — 83 Street, Edmonton) with Pastor Barbara Groote officiating. Interment to follow at Heimtal Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church.

HAZLEWOOD, Donald

On October 28, 2012 Donald Hazlewood passed away peacefully at the age of 75 years.
He is survived by his mother-in-law Ruth Bergquist; brother Glen (Linda); his children Linda (John) Randolph, Robert (Cathy); grandchildren; Christina (Herbert) Godden, Jennifer Randolph (Andrew Andresen), Christopher Hazlewood, Robert and Tim (Janelle) Wood; great-granddaughter Quincey; niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn in 2011; brother Larry; parents Esther Gillies and Charlie Hazlewood.
A celebration of Don’s Life will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dutch Canadian Club, Nordic Room, 13312 — 142 Street, Edmonton AB. A private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

HALL, Marie Eileen

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marie Hall announce her passing on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
She is survived by her beloved husband Herbert G. Hall; her loving children: Marcella, Valerie (Rick), Gerry (Donna); grandchildren: Amanda (Blaine), Matthew (Jen), Evan and Sarah; great-grandson Kellan. Marie loved her family dearly and her memory will remain a precious part of their lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 25th 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of The Angels Catholic Church 10004 — 101 Street, Fort Saskatchewan, AB. As per Marie’s wishes cremation has taken place. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital Foundation (Inpatient Unit).

FRANCIS, Russell Dennis
June 19, 1975 – October 26, 2012

It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that the family of Russell announces his peaceful passing. Russell was born and lived in Edmonton his entire life. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Science degree. He had been working as an architectural technologist as well as pursuing an architecture degree. He leaves special memories that will be cherished by his loving wife Jenna, his children Owen and Sarah, his parents Betty and Dennis Francis, sister Marcine Francis (Shane Daly) and their children Ava and Kayla, sister Carla Amero (Daniel) and their children Alia, Addison and Ashton, Jenna’s family, her parents Claudette and Gary Southron and her brother Mark (Darlene) and her brother Trevor (Sandy) and their children Maisy and Deklin. He will also be greatly missed by all his friends and colleagues.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at West Meadows Baptist Church, 9333 — 199 Street, Edmonton.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute and the Misericordia Hospital for their compassion and care. CRACIUN, Ligia Aurora (born Cucu)
June 3, 1966 – October 25, 2012

It is with deep sorrow we announce that Ligia has passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ligia is the beloved daughter of Maria (Zamosteanu) Cucu and the late Col. Aristotel Cucu of Brasov, Romania and is a deeply loved wife, sister, auntie and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Mihai; brother Aristotel Cucu of Edmonton; brother and sister –in-law, Liviu and Cristina Craciun; niece Iulia of Sherwood Park; brother and sister –in-law Octavian and Sibylle Binder ; nephews Dominik, Raphael and Iulian of Munich, Germany; sister-in-law and niece Bianca and Alexandra Selby of Winnipeg. She will be greatly missed by her friends in Edmonton and area and Winnipeg as well as her childhood friends from back home in Brasov, Romania. Ligia will be always fondly remembered by her colleagues and friends at TD Canada Trust which she worked with for more than nine years.
Ligia was a beautiful woman, full of life and had an infectious laugh that we’ll always remember. She loved to dance, travel, entertain and visit with family and friends, never missing an opportunity to help out or have fun. Her great sense of humour and loving and happy spirit will remain with us always.
Her family wishes to thank everyone for their love, support and respect that Ligia received throughout her lengthy illness, especially including all those at CCI Edmonton. Ligia’s late years were not easy but she soldiered through as a true officer’s daughter, meeting each challenge as it came along, with courage and perseverance, never giving up and fighting every second of every minute of every hour.

CARLSEN, Wade

Wade Carlsen of Beaumont, passed away peacefully at the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the age of 60 years.
Wade is survived by his brother Randie (Maureen) and sister Judy Colby (Terry).
He was predeceased by his parents Lance and Evalon. A private family celebration of Wade’s life will take place at a future time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Lovingly remembered by his children: Terry Haggart, Pat (Jim) Thorson, Neal (Kim) Anderson; eight grandchildren: Karen (Brad), Melinda, T.J. (Anne), Scott, Tim (Sherry), Melissa, Corie (Laura), Codie (Jessica), 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great– grandchildren; sister Bessie Bohac, as well as many relatives and friends. Predeceased by his wife Barbara and son Barry.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Emil Seibel.
Emil is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Belle); son Mark of Edmonton; daughter’s: Gail Seibel of Saskatoon, Karen Gunner (David) of England and five grandchildren: James, Amber, Lauren, Annabel and Jack.

Margaret is survived by her loving family: daughter Beverley (Boyd) Lewis; son Brent (Debbie); five grandchildren: Robert (Laara) Debbie (Ron), Randy (Mary Ann), Hailey and Mark; and three great-grandchildren: Tyler, Trent and Lotus. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Arnold.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ben Trudeau after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ben from Edmonton, formally a long time resident of High Level.
Ben is survived by his loving wife Rose; sons: Darren and Lyndon (Paula); daughters: Louise Dupuis (Normand) and Julia Holloway (Mel); 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence (Elsie); sister-in-law Lorraine.
Ben is predeceased by three sons: David (infancy), Chris and Dean. He is also predeceased by his parents Adeliard and Agnes; brother Alphonse; as well as sister: Marie Cherniwchan.
A Prayer Service will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Service North Chapel, 10129 — Princess Elizabeth Ave.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 17653 — 112 Street, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior.
Father Edward McSheffrey will officiate.
Burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Institute for the Blind and/or Stars Air Ambulance.
