McNab -- Mary
1923 - 2003
Mary McNab passed away peacefully February 6, 2003 at Drumheller Hospital at age 80 years. Dear mother of Sharron (Ron) Rawlusyk of Drumheller; Lester (Anne) McNab of Sexsmith; Dennis McNab of Drumheller. Mary leaves behind five special grandchildren and one great-grandchild; Raelynne and Tyler Colberg of Calgary, Rhonda Rawlusyk and Dean Mahoney of Drumheller, Virginia and Wade Perenteau and their son Pierre of Paddle Prairie, Caitlin McNab of Manning, and Durrell Weigel of Grande Prairie. She is also survived by brothers Orville Flett of Craigmyle, Dale (Jean) Flett of Didsbury; sisters, Orlo Hickey of Drumheller, June (Les) Campbell of Calgary; sisters-in-law, Aileen Flett of Didsbury and Edith McNab of Priddis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband John in 1998. The family is truly grateful to Dr. Vacy-Lyle and all the nursing staff for the exceptional care given to Mary while she was at Drumheller Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary McNab may be made to Knox United Church, P.O. Box 583, Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y0, or to Palliative Care c/o Drumheller District Health Services, 351 ­ 9th Street NW, Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y1. Thomas -- Susie (Sandulak)
1923 - 2003
Susie, a long time resident of Drumheller, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband David Thomas. Susie is survived by her daughters Susan Jacobsen and April Jutras (Alan), her grandchildren Jenny, Greg, Jordan, Joseph, Shalom, Ryan and Adam; her great-grandchildren Leanna, Elizabeth and Jack; her sisters Sandy (George) and Shirley (Bob); her brother Sam (Betty); and nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to all who were involved in Momıs care, Dr. Askin, Dr. Basinger, Mabyn, Claire and Jennie. We will greatly miss Mom's gentleness and her beautiful smile. Funeral was held at Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel, 2nd Avenue, 2nd Street in Drumheller, Alberta on February 7th, 2003 at 1 p.m.

Trout -- Victoria Marie
1921 - 2002
Born Victoria Marie Weigetz on March 13, 1921 in Claybank, Saskatchewan and passed away December 22, 2002 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 81 years. She was predeceased by her husband, of 46 years, Arthur December 24, 1997, son Gary December 24, 1997, and infant daughter Mary. Also brothers Martin, Ron, George, Jack and sisters Gerty, Joan and June. She is survived by 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Diana, Rachel, Aron, Brett, Andrea; Wayne (Vallerie); Marvin (Gwen) Corinne, Blaine; Raymond; Kenneth (Colette) Russell, Curtis, Jennifer, Charnelle; Blair (Kathy) Teri, Jeff, Cody; Lori (Terry) Jacqueline. Also brother Wayne and sisters Betty and Daisy. The great-grandchildren are -- Marina, Emma, Emmanuel, Craig and Megan. Memorial Services were held at the Delia Community Center on January 3, 2002 with Father Patrick Cramer officiating. Interment followed in the Delia Cemetery. Personal Alternative Funeral Services were in care of arrangements.

Troesken -- Helen Margaret
1912 - 2003
Helen Margaret Troesken was born July 21, 1912 in Hanna to parents Mr. and Mrs. Chapman. Helen passed away at the age of 90 years at the Drumheller Regional Health Complex. She was predeceased by her parents and her only brother. She was involved in the food services business. Helen's wishes were that there be no funeral or memorial service. Cremation took place. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Services were in care of arrangements.

Braunberger -- Lester Braunberger passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2003 at the Colonel Belcher Veteranıs Care Center at the age of 82. Lester will be lovingly remembered by wife Lucille (nee Grenier), son Dwight, daughters JoAnn, Denise and Karen, six grandchildren Melissa, Justin, Jason, Stephanie, Jennifer and Paul, one brother Buck (Thelma), nephew Wayne (Lynn) and numerous relatives and friends. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Luke Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Dr. N. W. Calgary) on Friday, February 7, 2003 at 11 -- 00 AM. Funeral arrangements in care of Commemorative Services of Calgary. Telephone1199.

Ireland -- Elsworth George (Red) January 22, 1934 - February 2, 2003 Elsworth George Ireland was born to Will and Madeline Ireland, January 22, 1934, in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan. Red went to work at a young age and worked at anything that made a dollar. He did not let having one blind eye stop him from anything. His Uncle Joe gave him his first horse when he was 8 years old, and from then until 2002 he pretty well had at least one horse or more around, even if he had to board them out to rent pasture. He loved to show off his pinto ponies pulling a decorated buggy in all the area parades. He worked in the oilfield in the 1950ıs. He has tried his hand at farming in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta. He worked in feed mills, sawmills, dairy farms, paving companies and has done almost everything in the oilfield. Red farmed on Hesketh Road and worked at Bumper Development Compressor Plant near Carbon from 1977 until 1994, when the doctors would no longer let him work because of all his health problems. Red will be remembered as a honest, hard worker, who loved his horses and farming. He always felt that his off farm employment was his priority and made sure that work was done first and well. He enjoyed going to the monthly Low Vision Support Group at Three Hills. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of almost 25 years, Ruth of Carbon, AB; 1 daughter, Donna (Mark) Snider of Black Foot, AB; 1 son, Larry Ireland; 3 stepchildren -- Ken (Christine) Ireland of Verdant Valley, AB; Lenora Ireland of Drumheller, AB; Bill (Jane Boulanger of Vernon, B.C.; 3 brothers -- Gordon (Joan) Ireland of Oliver, B.C.; Mervin (Carol) Ireland of Cudworth, SK; Vernon (Eileen) Ireland of Wakaw, SK; grandchildren -- Barry, Marilyn, Jason, Brandy, Marie, Kailen, Brooke, Leslie, C.J. and Dustin; nephews -- Nelson, Preston, Dean and Darren; and nieces -- Debra, Tannis and Jaime; sister-in-law Joan Dixon of Sundre, AB; brother-in-law Jim (Flo) Randell of Prince Albert, SK; as well as many cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 6th at the Carbon Community Centre at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Carbon Cemetery. Courtney-Winters Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements.

Lowen -- Helene January 28, 1923 - January 18, 2003 Of Dunphy, passed away quietly at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband Tom Lowen in 1989. At her request there will not be a funeral, however, a celebration of Heleneıs life will be held on Saturday, February 8th at the Nacmine Hall, starting at 2 p.m. Lunch will be available.

Woods -- Mark Thomas March 27, 1953 - February 1, 2003 Mark passed away peacefully in the Drumheller Hospital on February 1, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Eileen, and their two children, Jennifer and Christopher. Mark also leaves behind his brother Michael (Colleen, Paul, Kate and Gavin), and his sister Heather (Bob, Tracy and Morgan, and Aimee). Mark was born in Winnipeg and lived in Regina, Saskatoon and Vancouver. Mark and Eileen moved to Drumheller from Stony Plain, AB in 1985, at which time Mark was the morning man and program director at Q91. They purchased the Radio Shack Dealer Store in 1992, and continue to run it today. Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was involved in DeMolay, the Rotary Club, Scouts Canada and Ducks Unlimited. A memorial service will be held at the Nazarene Church in Drumheller, on Saturday, February 8th at 1 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Drumheller Fun Team Hockey, or the Drumheller Public Library.

Schumacher -- Gladys Geraldine
On Sunday, November 23, 2003 Gladys Geraldine Schumacher of Drumheller, AB, aged 97, died after a long and full life. Gladys was born at Ellendale, North Dakota and came to Canada with her father Peter Christian Knudson who homesteaded near Watts, AB in 1909. She was the youngest of 3 brothers and 2 sisters who all predeceased her. She was a school teacher and married Louis Peter Schumacher of Sunnynook, AB. They had 3 children, Stan (Virginia) of Drumheller, Jean (Bill) Sakal of Calgary, and June (Herb) Bittman of Sequim, Washington, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren who survived her. She was predeceased by her husband Louis in 1978. Gladys was very active in the Knox United Church and itıs Womenıs Auxiliary and United Church Women as well as the Order of the Eastern Star. A service celebrating Gladysı life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Decemeber 3, 2003 in Knox United Church, Drumheller, AB conducted by the Rev. C.M. (Mac) Jones. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation, 351-9th Street N.W., Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y1. Courtney-Winterıs Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements.

Adams -- Charles (Charlie) Davidson Adams Sr.
1920 - 2003
Charles (Charlie) Davidson Adams Sr. was born on January 14, 1920 in Glasgow, Scotland and passed away at the Drumheller Nursing Home on Saturday, November 6, 2003. Charlie immigrated to Canada in 1928. He served overseas in the Armed Forces during the Second World War. He married Joyce Brown and came to Canada in 1946. They made their home in Drumheller where they had eight children. Charlie was predeceased by his wife Joyce and his 2 sons Christopher and David. He leaves to mourn his sons; Chuck (Ruby), Bill (Ruth) and Jim (Lynda). His daughters Linda (Garry), Debbie (Alan) and Brenda (Bernie); his 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his sister and brother-in-law Ann and George Bacon of Carbon and sister-in-law Florence Adams of Daysland. Funeral Services will be held from the Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements.

Bergman -- William (Bill)
1925 - 2003
William (Bill) Bergman passed away peacefully on December 1, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Avril; three children, Cheryl (Larry) Greene of Drumheller; Dale (Shelley) Bergman of Calgary, and Valerie Bergman of Calgary; one brother Fred (Betty) Bergman of Calgary; sister-in-laws, Frances Bergman of Drumheller, Marilyn Lee of Coutts, AB, Dolores Kelly of Kelowna, B.C., Sandra Harrower and her husband Jim of Red Deer, AB; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Bradley, Nicole and Colin. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Anna Bergman; two sisters, Anne and Mary; and two brothers, Peter and Hank. Bill was born in Orenburg, Russia on April 12, 1925. He moved to Canada with his parents and one sister, Anne, in 1928. He grew up in the Willow Creek and Cambria area and worked in the local mines until 1958. From 1958 to 1976 he worked as an Orderly and then Steam Engineer at the Drumheller Hospital. He then worked for Alberta Housing until his retirement in 1990. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and found much enjoyment spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. A Memorial Service was held at Knox United Church on December 8, 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of ones choice.

Borwick -- Leola
1907 - 2003
Leola Borwick (Hodgson) passed away peacefully on December 4, 2003, at the Bow Crest Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Leola was born in Calgary on February, 26, 1907 and moved to the Rowley district as a child. She became a teacher and taught school in Orkney where she met and married Charley Borwick in 1927. They lived in Orkney district where Leola's warm and thoughtful ways were well known. She was a founding member of the Orkney Ladies Auxiliary and remained active until they moved to Caroline in 1960. Leola and Charley later lived in Calgary and after his death Leola moved back to the Rowley district. During her time at Rowley, she was involved in the development of the Museum and compiling the history book of the Rumsey - Rowley districts. She returned to Calgary to be near her family in 1988. Leola entered Bow Crest Care Centre in August 2003. The family would like to thank the staff at Bow Crest for the care and compassion they gave Mom during her stay. A wonderful mother, grandmother and 'Granny' will be lovingly and sadly remembered by her family, Donald (Dorothy), Maureen Campbell and Ian (Kathy), nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charley (1972), grandson, Garry (1999) and great-granddaughter Elsie (1994). Funeral Services will be held from the Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 11, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Donations may be made to the Orkney Presbyterian Church or charity of one's choice. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel entrusted with the arrangements.

Cozac -- Dan
1932 - 2003
Dan Cozac, born November 28, 1932 at Okla, Saskatchewan, passed away in Brooks on December 4, 2003. He is survived by his four children, Daniel (Ira), Donna (Ivan), Doreen (Darwin), Darryl (Sandra); and his grandchildren Dallas, Dillon, Craig, Sarah, Taylor, Gina, Coleton and Branden. He is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. Dan was predeceased by his parents Sam and Anna Cozac, his brother George and sister Pearl. He moved from Okla at an early age to Charlton, Ontario where he grew up and went to school. At the age of 18 he moved to Alberta where he started working as a roughneck on the drilling rigs. He then worked as production operator for Chevron Resources, moved to Canadian Pacific Oil and Gas (CPOG) as one of their original operators and eventually became an Area Production Foreman for PanCanadian in Brooks. In 1980, he started his own company, Cozac Holdings Ltd., where he provided oil and gas services for 23 years. Dan will always be remembered by his family and friends for his love of hunting, fishing and hockey, and he will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9 from the Brooks United Church. Rev. Ken Wells of St. Alban's Anglican Church officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were his grandchildren. Active Pallbearers were Doug Able, Brian Mullings, Zack Wurz, Bill Tomlinson, Albert Snyders, Ken Aimes and Bill Kennedy. In memory of Dan, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #124 430 - 6th Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 2S8; Canadian Cancer Society, #102 1865 Dunmore Road S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 1Z8; or to a Brooks charity of choice. Webster -- Violet
1919 - 2003
Violet passed away peacefully November 29, 2003 at the Drumheller Hospital. Violet was born in Niton, AB December 7, 1919. She was raised in Rutland, SK. It was in Rutland that she met her future husband Francis Webster. Over their 50 year marriage they lived in Manitoba, N.W.T. and B.C. Violet lived in Elkford for 28 years before moving to Carbon, AB to be closer to family. She was an avid curler and golfer, decorated many a wedding cake and was even a volunteer firefighter. She was predeceased by her husband Francis, the love of her life. Violet is survived by Bryan (Marilyn) Webster of Fort St. John, B.C.; Blaine (Connie) Webster of Thornhill, ON; Dale (Stella) Webster of Kitimat, B.C.; and Deana (Brent) McLean of Carbon, AB. She also leaves to mourn four brothers, one sister, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. There will be a memorial to celebrate Violet's life December 12, 2003 at the Drumheller Hospital.

Kaye -- Desmond Lloyd
May 16, 1983 - December 7, 2003
Suddenly on December 7, 2003 the creator called Desmond to Him.
He leaves to mourn, his mother M. Suzette Kaye (Les), his brother Michael (Candy), his sister Natasha, his nephews Michael, Ricky, his niece Katherine, his Grandmother Mary Kaye-Levasseur, his uncles and aunties Ken Kaye (Donna), Mary Houle (Warren), Shirley Kaye (Darryl), Donna Kaye (Dale), Katherine Kaye (Noel), Roger Kaye, Wallace Kaye as well as numerous cousins and family from Manitoba. My baby boy I know I can't see you or talk to you or show how much I love and miss you. But no matter how far apart we are, I want you to know we love you so very much and that you will always be on our minds and in our hearts. Love, your family

Budesheim -- August Edward
1907 - 2003
August Edward Budesheim late of New Westminister, passed away December 18, 2003 at the age of 96 years. He was born October 22, 1907 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Private Cremation, Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Vaage of Seattle; son Ron Budesheim of Prince George; and four grandchildren. Glover -- Timothy Brent
April 1, 1959 - December 17, 2003
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Timothy Brent Glover on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the age of 44. Tim was born April 1, 1959 in Drumheller, Alberta. He leaves to mourn his loving mother, Vera Glover; sister Dorothy Dawson; brother Ken Glover (Linda); nephew Kenny (Jill); nieces Lindy, Sabrina (Terry), Caralee (Aaron); great nephews Mitchell, Colby, Tanner; great nieces Shellbi, Kayla, Kendra, Allie; and numerous other close family. Tim was predeceased by his loving father, Russel Ambrose Glover; Great Grandfather and Grandmother Glover; and Great Grandfather and Grandmother Kolenchuk. Tim had many challenges in his life that he always was able to overcome. The one thing Tim loved most in life was to be able to spend a great deal of time in helping to raise his great nephew Mitchell. Tim will be always missed by those who loved him. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 20 at 1 p.m. from the Church of the Nazarene. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
