TETZ -- Herbert Tetz. Born February 3, 1918 - Deceased January 24, 1998. In loving memory of Herbert Tetz. Herb was born in Mendham, Saskatchewan on February 3, 1918 and grew up on the farm there. He moved to Calgary in 1950, where he met and later married Marilyn Bent on September 2, 1952. Herb went to work for Canadian Pacific Railroad in 1952 and stayed with them through till his retirement thirty-one years later on March 1, 1983. During that time Herb and his wife settled in the town of Montgomery, just outside the city of Calgary to raise their family. Herb was a member for thirty-five years in good standing of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. He was a longtime member of Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department and served in this capacity until the town was incorporated into the city. During his retirement which he very much enjoyed, he was active in the C.P.R. Pensioners Club and the Montgomery Guys and Dolls Club. He was a volunteer for many things, but one of his favorites was helping out at the annual Beaumont Seniors Picnic. Herb is survived by his loving wife Marilyn; four sons, Andrew John (Sherry) Tetz of Golden, B.C., Ronald Herbert (Yvonne) Tetz of Fairview, AB, Roger Laverne Tetz and David Patrick Tetz, both of Calgary; his three daughters, Rose Edith Wright, Florence April Tetz and Colleen Frances Irene (Ted Haynes) Small of Calgary. Herb is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Tilley Rath and John (Irma) Tetz, both of Medicine Hat, AB, Ester Tibbits of Calgary, Rev. Sam (Evy) Tetz of Vancouver, B.C.; as well as nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Herb was predeceased by his father Andrew, November 6, 1974, mother Rosina, April 16, 1940, stepmother Lydia in 1986, brother Andrew Jr. in 1923, and brother Elmer in 1976. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the S.T.A.R.S. TRITTER -- Herbert Emmanuel Tritter, beloved husband of Delphine Tritter of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on January 24, 1998. Herb was born on June 6, 1916 in Calgary and resided in the district of Bridgeland all his life. Although he pursued many and varied interests during his life, music was his greatest passion; family and friends often enjoyed his keyboard melodies. Besides his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Herb is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Tom Pickering; his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Pat Tritter; grandchildren, Bill Farrant, Jim (Lynne) Farrant, Susan Farrant and Shea (Nicole) Tritter; great-grandsons, Casey and Craig Farrant; Kyler and Brayden Tritter. He is also survived by his brothers, Len (Cynthia) Tritter, Milton Tritter; sister Connie (Don) Spicer; sister-in-law Gladys Tritter; as well as many nieces and nephews. Herb was predeceased in 1978 by his grandson Jason Tritter; and brothers, Albert and William. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. WEILAND -- Carl G. passed away peacefully at the Rosedale Hospice on Saturday, January 24, 1998 at the age of 80 years. Carl will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his three sons, Gord and wife Toby of Edmonton, Robert and wife Christie, and Jeffery and Kristi, all of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Robin, Nathan, Kelsey, Jeffrey, Shelby, Carley and Hailey. He is also survived by his brother Manuel and wife Edith of Medicine Hat, Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda in 1989. WINWOOD -- On January 24, 1998, Christine Winwood of Calgary, formerly of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Joan Winwood (Alf Smith) of Calgary, and Ed (Pat) Winwood of Edmonton; and her dear grandchildren, Darrell and Laura Winwood. She also leaves to mourn one brother John MacKenzie of Calgary; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as close friends. Christine was predeceased by her husband Art in 1973, and five sisters. Christine was proud of her Air Force service in World War II. She was known for her desire to keep in touch with everyone by letter writing, and her heart was never far from Cape Breton and her Gaelic roots. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 in Mountain View Cemetery, Field of Honour Section, Lethbridge, Alberta with Reverend Larry D. Hankinson officiating. YOUNGREN -- Iris Dorothy Youngren, born Iris Dorothy Mudd in Limehouse, England, June 30, 1922, passed away suddenly and painlessly on Friday, January 23, 1998 at the Foothills Hospital, in Calgary, while recovering from surgery. She is survived in Canada by her loving husband Carl Youngren; her children, Lorraine (Lister) Doig and Christopher Youngren; as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and in England, by her sisters, Audrey (Fred) Davis and Mavis Goodwin; her brother Tony (Janet) Mudd; her especially beloved Aunt Gladys Barker; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Iris was predeceased by her eldest daughter Sandra in 1975. Iris and Carl married in England in May 1943, returning to Carl's home in Alberta with their young family in April 1946. Iris led a busy and accomplished life as a housewife and mother, an organizer for Junior Girl's Curling at the Calgary Winter Club, a political activist, and a working woman. She was secretary of the Calgary North Federal Constituency Office, President of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Women's Association, and a longtime member and Past President of the Calgary Foothills Hospital Auxiliary. In 1972, she presented a petition of several thousand names to The House of Lords in Westminster, England voicing concerns about the repatriation of the Constitution. In 1992, Iris and Carl were each awarded the Confederation Medal of Canada. CASEBEER -- Mr. Loyd George Casebeer, beloved husband of Mrs. Joyce Casebeer for forty-five years, passed away at his residence in Calgary, Alberta on January 25, 1998 after a brief struggle with cancer, at the age of 68 years. Loyd was born October 19, 1929 in Didsbury, Alberta and was raised on the family farm in Carstairs. He began his career in Carstairs with Alberta Pacific Grain in September of 1949 and was transferred throughout the province, promoted to District Manager in 1967. In 1971, Loyd joined the Canadian Wheat Board as an Inspector for the Provost, Medicine Hat and Calgary area, retiring in September of 1992. Loyd was a member of the Third Degree of Knights of Columbus for thirty-five years and became a charter member on January 22, 1977 of the Fourth Degree of Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony's Assembly located in Lloydminster. He was a proud Canadian and his greatest accomplishment was traveling with his wife Joyce, twice across Canada in their motorhome. Loyd was a passionate family man and he enjoyed the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren, sharing his love of cards and games. He also enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends. Besides his loving wife, Loyd is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dwane and Donna Casebeer of Wetaskiwin, Douglas and Lynette Casebeer, and Colin and Laura Casebeer, all of Edmonton; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Bill Barrack of Cereal, and Lori and Don Garland of Calgary; fifteen grandchildren, Corey, Kyle, Darryl, and Krystianna Casebeer, Grant and Brian Casebeer, Mathew and Carley Casebeer, Jennifer, Patricia and Andrea Barrack, and Stephanie, Lindsay, Aaron and Ashley Garland; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Daniel and Taylor. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Elwood and Betty Casebeer of Didsbury, and Mernus and Lois Casebeer of Carstairs. Loyd was predeceased by his parents, Willy and Lavina Casebeer, and an infant brother Reaford Casebeer. de BRAKELEER -- Johanna (Ann) Barbier-de Brakeleer of Calgary, passed away on Monday, January 26, 1998 at the age of 74 years. DYCK -- Helen. A gentle soul has left this earth and gone to a place where there is no more pain or suffering. FOWELL -- Beppie Maria of Calgary passed away, surrounded by love, at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary Hospital on Monday, January 26, 1998 at the age of 72 years. Beppie was born in Holland. She came to Canada in 1947, settling in Oak Lake, Manitoba in 1954. She moved to Calgary where she resided until the time of her passing. Beppie was a former member of Woodcliff United Church, Christ Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church. GRINER -- Denise Jane, beloved and loving mother of John Jordan Griner, at Markham - Stoufville Hospital, Markham, Ontario on Sunday, January 25, 1998. Predeceased by her mother Thora (1995) and her father John Griner (1982). Denise, at the age of 51, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. GULLIVER -- Ruby, of Calgary, passed away at the Bow Crest Nursing Home on January 25, 1998 at the age of 84 years. She is the loving mother of two daughters, Kathleen Buchner and Beth Fulton; as well as one sister Teenie Murray. Ruby is also survived by her loving four grandsons and three granddaughters, as well as her eight great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie, sisters, Alice Craig, Nora Reimer, Edith Smith, and brother Jack Lee. LOFTUS -- John Nelson. Beloved husband of Brenda, devoted and loving father of Jenna, Sarah and John Rory, died suddenly on January 16, 1998 at home in Creston, B.C. at the age of 43. Also left to mourn his passing are his mother Gertrude; his four sisters, Joyce (Ron), Valerie, Lynn and Alanna; and nieces and nephews; Brenda's family, Jo Tolton; brothers, Dwight, Gordon, and families. John will be missed by many friends he made wherever he travelled. John was predeceased by his father John Sr. on March 18, 1988. The strength John gained through his life struggles and his fifteen years of sobriety enabled him to be instrumental in the development and progression of drug and alcohol treatment programs. His compassion for others and his commitment toward the healing of First Nations People were his guiding principles in life. John's example of reaching out to those in need is an inspiration for all of us to carry on. Everyone will remember John for his unique sense of humor, his warm and generous spirit. Services were held on January 21, 1998 from the Lower Kootenai Indian Band Complex, Creston, B.C.
