VERNA DAY RIDER
2008

VERNA MAE DAY RIDER, of Lethbridge, AB passed away suddenly on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the age of 56 years.
She is survived by her special companion “Sam” Alois Aime Herman; children, Lisa Marie, April Rose (Kevin), Norma Jean (Jerome), John Jr., Vernon (Ashley), and Tommy (Dusty); her grandchildren, great – grandchildren, siblings – Moses Spear Chief, William (Laurie) Vielle, Wilma (Clarence Bull Child); Gary Vielle, Elizabeth (Merle Smith), Leslie (Marsha) Vielle, Wayne (Millie) Vielle of Spokane, Washington, Linda Bollock of Spokane, Washington, Dale Bollock of Spokane, Washington and Gordon of Spokane, Washington, Lester (Sherry) Crow, Dianne North Peigan, Calgary AB, Freddie Vielle, Francis Champagne of Heart Butte, Montana, and step mother Helen Medicine Traveler, Aunts Theresa Vielle, Rosie Reyes of Seattle, Washington, Marjorie Macdonald, Mary (Ben) Red Crow, Lena Chief Calf, Isabelle Spear Chief, Corolla Calf Robe, Evelyn Good Rider, Lena Russell, Charlie Crow Chief and numerous nieces and nephews.
Verna was predeceased by her grandparents George and Annie (Bare Back Bone) Vielle, Joe and Josephine (Bull Child) Night Gun from Browning Montana, Father Francis and Evelyn (Night Gun) Vielle, Sister Maryann Bollock of Spokane, Washington.
Verna was raised in lower Standoff, Verna went to boarding at St. Mary’s residential school. After residential school Verna met the love of her life, Johnny Day Rider Sr. In Farm 4 she raised 7 Children, she moved on to Lethbridge in 1998 and had a different life, there she met “Sam”. Her hobbies included, bead work and cooking. Verna made a living on her bead work, she was exceptional.
Family services will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 4:00 P.M.
Wake services will be held at WHITE CALF CHAPEL, Standoff, AB, on Monday, December 15, 2008 commencing at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Ken Kissik officiating.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. MARY’S IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Blood Reserve, on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Pawell Andrasz Celebrant.

LYDIA DOENZ
1914 - 2008

LYDIA JEAN DOENZ, passed away at the Park Meadow’s Village in Lethbridge on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the age of 94 years.
She is survived by her sister Annie Hughson and sister-in-law Helen Doenz of Pemmican Lodge, Lethbridge. Thirteen nieces and nephews and their families were her precious “children”. Cousins Elby, Herb, Evalina and Leo are her surviving cousins, along with many other extended family.
Lydia was predeceased by her parents, Barbara and Chris Doenz, her sisters Doris, Eileen and their husbands, brothers Ernest, Leo and Irvine and his wife Gene, nephew Darrell Hughson and niece Bev Jessop, as well as cousins Jim, Frank and Hans.
Lydia was born October 26, 1914 at the farm home northeast of Warner. Growing up on the farm with brothers and sisters, riding the horse-drawn van and later the motorized school bus into Warner to school created many fond memories. She attended Olds Agricultural School to follow her passion of caring for plants and flowers. Later on, her natural skills of care-giving were valuable skills in her employment at the hospital, and her many volunteer roles at the hospital, Southminster United Church and LSCO. She devoted many years of caring for her parents until their deaths. Her passion for gardening and care-giving continued during her years at Heritage Lodge, and as much as possible at Good Sam’s. Many of the family will continue to enjoy the benefits of her quilting, knitting and crocheting.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Lois Punton officiating. A private interment will precede the service in Warner.
In memory of Lydia, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

GUENTER DUDA
2008

GUENTER DUDA, beloved husband of Kathi Duda of Coaldale, passed away doing exactly what he loved doing, “Golfing” on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the age of 61 years.
Besides his loving wife Kathi, Guenter is survived by his children; Tori, Shannon (Jade), Jason (Raila) and Robin (Carey) all of Lethbridge; his father Wilhelm (Elsie) Duda of Coaldale; brothers; Hans (Jean) of Lethbridge, Wally (Karen) of Lethbridge, George (Kathy) of Coaldale and Ron (Mare) of Lethbridge.
Guenter is also survived by 4 grandchildren; Katelyn Joy, Sarah, Coen and Aria.
He was predeceased by his mother Agathe Duda.
A Celebration of Guenter’s Life will be held at the ELRANCHO CONVENTION CENTRE, 526 Mayor Magrath Drive South on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.
Interment to follow at the Coaldale Community Cemetery.
Memorial Donations may be made in Guenter’s name to the Interfaith Food Bank, 1116- 3 Avenue, North, Lethbridge, AB, T1H 0H6

ADRIAAN DE KREEK
1926 - 2008

ADRIAAN DE KREEK, beloved husband of Jean de Kreek, passed away suddenly at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the age of 82 years.
Besides his loving wife of 55 years, he is survived by his children Mary (Bryon) Harbers of Monarch; Dick (Yolanda) de Kreek of Park Lake; Terry (Merv) Cradduck of Taber; Sharon (Dwayne) Beaton of Lethbridge; 7 grandchildren, Lisa and Jeff Harbers; Kevin (Lindsey) and David (Julie) de Kreek; Michelle Cradduck; Laura and Andrew Beaton; and 2 great grandchildren, Summer and Tyson de Kreek. He was predeceased by his son Dirk (Dicky) in 1955. He is also survived by two sisters, Bep and Toos, and two brothers Piet and Joe, in Holland. He was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Marie, Cor, Jan, Ans and Sjaan, all in Holland.
Ad was born on January 31, 1926 in Ridderkerk, Holland, the 5th of 10 children. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 to join his fiancée Jean Groenenboom and to pursue his dream of farming. In February 1953 he married Jean and they raised their family on the farm at Park Lake. Ad loved his family and was proud of each of them. He always made time for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The grandchildren have many fond memories of spending time with Grandpa on the farm and fishing with him. Ad and Jean also had many happy times fishing and camping with family and friends. Ad loved the land and farming, still doing some baling this summer. He kept a large garden and was happy to share the bounty with family, friends and neighbours. Ad will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1818-5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, on Thursday, October 9th, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating.
A private family interment will be held prior to the service.

LOUIS DOGTEROM
1920 - 2008

LOUIS GEORGE DOGTEROM, of Lethbridge, passed away at the age of 87 years on Saturday, October 4, 2008, after an extended stay in the Chinook Regional Hospital.
Louis was the oldest of seven children born to Jacob and Emily Dogterom on December 6, 1920 in Lethbridge. Louis grew up on the family farm east of Lethbridge and went to McLean School.
He married Grace Siewert and they had 3 children: Linda (Kevin) Joncas and sons Sean (Leanne) and Darrin (Zsuzsuna) of Calgary; Cheryl (Laurence) Turner and sons Andrew and Evan of Calgary; and Gary of Stony Plain with daughter Katie and son Wyatt. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Louis was predeceased by his parents, his brother Hendrik (age 4), brother Raymond and former wife Grace Wurzer. He is survived by his sister Marie Dekeyser, brother Jacob (Irma) of Lethbridge; brother Francis (Fran) of Purple Springs and sister Muriel Zasadny of Lethbridge and many nieces and nephews.
In the 1950’s, Louis ran a very productive mixed farming operation east of Lethbridge and was an active member of the Appaloosa Horse Club. He enjoyed playing polo and going on trail ride outings with his family.
Louis was a resident of Blue Sky and Golden Acres Lodges for the last several years where he received excellent care.
A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
A Funeral Service will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Glenn Hobden and Pastor Shirley Hobden officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
In memory of Louis, donations may be made to the Lethbridge Shelter, 802-2nd “A” Avenue North, Lethbridge, Alberta.

TEATSKE DE JAGER
1913 - 2008

Mrs. Teatske (Thea) de Jager passed away at Lethbridge Extendicare on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the age of 95 years.
She is survived by her children: Art de Jager of Lethbridge, Audrey (Mient) Visser of Lethbridge, Louis (Grace) de Jager of Lethbridge, John and Florence (Casey) Kalsbeek of Surrey, BC, Gary de Jager of Vancouver, BC, Grietje (Sybe) de Vries of Holland, Foeke (Gerrie) de Jager of Holland, Henrietta (Jack) Schenk of Courtney, BC, Hilda (Bill) Korver of Coaldale, Willy (Louis) Dykslag of Lethbridge, Jerry (Shirley) de Jager of Coaldale, Bill (Sena) de Jager of Abbotsford, BC, Jules (Joanne) de Jager of Hamilton, ON, Ali Berry of Lethbridge and Coby Kleissen of Lethbridge. She is also survived by 51 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and one sister Jeltje Halma and family.
She was predeceased by her husband Taeke in 2003, her son Casey de Jager in 1988, her granddaughter Dawn de Jager in 2003 and a great-great-grandchild.
Mom was born on August 31, 1913 in Friesland, Holland and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1951. She settled in the Lethbridge area where she resided until her passing.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A private graveside service will be held prior to the funeral at ARCHMOUNT CEMETERY with Candidate Hank Van der Woerd officiating. A memorial service will be held at TRINITY REFORMED CHURCH, 1100 – 40 Avenue North, Lethbridge on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Candidate Hank Van der Woerd officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Tributes may be made to the Elim Society, #104, 1408 – 9 Avenue “A” South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1VS.

DAR DAVIES
2008

DARLENE “DAR” JOYCE DAVIES beloved wife of Paul Davies of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the age of 63 years.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her sons Miles (Misty) Heck, of Langley, BC, Gerry (Crystal) Heck of Calgary, Alberta, Gord (Roxanne) Davies of Lethbridge, Alberta, Gary Davies of Lethbridge, Alberta, Rich Davies of Calgary, Alberta, 5 grandchildren, Jamie, Kaylee, Tia, Brendon and Kevin; 3 sisters, Cassy, Shirley and Sherri, two brothers; Les and Bernie; several nieces and nephews and her special long term friend, Pat Young.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at GREAT ROOM, WEST WING, ST. MICHAEL’S HEALTH CENTRE, 1400 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. with Sister Ivy officiating. Special thanks to all her friends and co-workers at St. Michael’s Palliative Care. Thank you to Sister Ivy for the compassion.

ROBERT JAMES STUART DALGLEISH
1953 - 2008

Robert James Stuart Dalgleish, father of Erin Cecelia and Kathryn (Katy) Jeanne, passed away at his home in Lethbridge on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the age of 55 years.
Besides his children, he is survived by his father James and step-mother Shirley of Abbotsford, BC, brother Donald (Diane) Dalgleish of Edmonton, AB, sisters Naomi (Dave) Boychuk of Fort McMurray, AB, Marilynn (Barry) Gray of Saskatoon, SK. and Maryanne (Gerald) Dalgleish Davis of Camrose, AB.
He is also survived by 6 nieces and nephews, 4 great-nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Cecelia Irene.
Robert James Stuart Dalgleish was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba April 5, 1953. He was educated in Flin Flon and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Robert worked 25 years for Safeway (Lucerne) in the Winnipeg, Manitoba and Calgary, Alberta operations. He was working for Triple M Housing in Lethbridge, Alberta at the time of his death.
Over the years Robert developed long lasting friendships and was valued for his sense of humour and generous spirit. One of his interests was hockey; he was a long time fan of the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey team. He was also an avid fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Football team. Robert enjoyed annual fishing trips with long time friends in his hometown, Flin Flon (Amisk Lake).
While Robert had many interests and participated in various activities he was most known for his great love for his children, friends, music and literature.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service of remembrance at 1:00 PM August 9, 2008 at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Lethbridge, Alberta located at 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Robert James Stuart Dalgleish to the Lupus Erythematosus Society of Alberta, Suite 200, 7301-8 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T2R 1B7 or the Heart and Stoke Foundation at Unit #207 at 542 7th Street South, Lethbridge Alberta T1J 2H1.

RAYMOND W. DURDA
December 4, 1934 - July 16, 2008

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend
RAYMOND DURDA beloved husband of Marge of Lethbridge, AB passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre on Wednesday, July16, 2008 at the age of 73 years.
Besides his loving wife, Marge of 47 years, he is survived by his Children Beverly A. Durda of Lethbridge and Richard J. (Rose) Durda of Fort McMurray, three beautiful granddaughters Jennifer and Lisa Durda of Fort McMurray and Raenna Durda of Lethbridge. He also leaves to mourn his loss, his sister Alice McFarland of Vancouver B.C., and his brothers Frank Durda of Sicamous, B.C., and Richard A. (Diane) Durda of Airdrie, AB. Raymond also leaves numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. He was respected and admired by his many friends, especially his “half cup” coffee group at 1010 Pub.
Raymond was predeceased by his infant daughter Mary and his parents, John and Florence Durda.
His loving care, help and wisdom will be missed by those who loved him most.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a Prayer Service at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405-12 Avenue South on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Raul Hernandez Celebrant.

LEONARD DENHOED
2008

MR. LEONARD DENHOED, beloved husband of Mrs. Christine Denhoed of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the age of 71 years.
Besides his wife Christine, Leonard is survived by his daughter Linda (Zach) Bird and their children Kirsten, Nickolaus, Megan and Zachary, son Ron (Peggy) and their children Spirit, Stephanie and Bettina, great granddaughter Rayven Olivia, brothers Casey (Fiona), John (Marj) and Walt (Barb), brothers-in-law Corney (Rita), Casey (Roely) and Bill (Alice), sister-in-law Gerie, numerous nieces and nephews, special friends Tim, Burt, Ralf and the family dog, Spirit as well as friends and ex co-workers at Ferrari Westwood Architects.
Len was a very funny and loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and overall family member. He was also a good friend to the community of Lethbridge.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital, 4C.
A gathering of family and friends will take place in Leonard’s honour in Coalhurst on Sunday, July 6, 2008.
