RUTH ELIZABETH FLEMING
1922 - 2009

RUTH ELIZABETH FLEMING, beloved wife of John Fleming, passed away at the Good Samaritan West Highlands, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her four nephews; John Perry of England, Bob (Margaret) Perry of Toronto, Ontario, Doug (Gail) Perry of London, Ontario and David (Susan) Perry of London, Ontario; great nephew Rupert and two great nieces Margaret and Elizabeth. She was predeceased by one sister Mary and one brother Jack.
Ruth was born April 20, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario where she was raised and educated. She worked most of her life at St. Claire Avenue West United Church. She also worked for Ontario Hydro. In 1967 she married John Fleming and they lived in Brandon, Manitoba until the fall of 1978 when they moved to Lethbridge. Ruth was a loving wife and an accomplished cook who will be sadly missed. She enjoyed volunteering at Palliative Care at St. Michael’s Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating.
In memory of Ruth, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Lethbridge, #162, 200–4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4C9.

JAMES PATRICK FINN
2009
With great sadness, the family of JAMES PATRICK FINN of Lethbridge, AB. (formerly of Dundurn/Saskatoon, SK) would like to announce his passing on Wednesday May 27, 2009 at 81 years of age.
Jim was the son of the late Dr. J.J. Finn and the late Flora Finn of Dundurn. He is survived by his wife Albertine, daughter Caroline Taylor (John) of Red Deer, son Patrick Finn (Amber) of Lethbridge, grandchildren Brian Taylor (Red Deer), James Finn (Calgary), Kimberley Finn (Lethbridge) and his twin brother Joseph Finn (Marge) of Toronto, ON.
A Family Service will be held.

JOYCE FILATOFF

JOYCE R. FILATOFF, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital, on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the age of 72 years.
At the request of the family, there will be no Funeral Service held.

ROY FEDORAK
2009

ROY FEDORAK, beloved husband of the late Rose Fedorak of Coalhurst, AB, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the age of 73 years.
Roy is survived by and will be sadly missed by his daughter; Patricia Lynn Belanger- Wolfe and grandsons; Anthony Davis Belanger and Alexander Ray John Belanger; his brother John Fedorak and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Rose Alma Wolf-Fedorak and daughter Brenda Anne Belanger. Roy worked for PFRA for many years and also the Town of Coalhurst.
A Time of Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M., followed by a Graveside Service at 1:00 P.M. at Mountain View Cemetery, with Reverend Elizabeth Brown officiating.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Peter Koegler and all the staff of St. Michael’s Health Centre.

TERI FORTNEY
1945 - 2009

Theresa “Teri” Rose Fortney nee Loster passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on February 26, 2009 at the age of 63 years.
She will be loved and missed be her beloved husband of 45 years, Paul; her 5 children Christine, Kelvin (Sandra), Debbie, Joe and David (Michelle), as well as her 6 grandchildren Matt, Nikki, Miranda, Kirt, Alexandra and Annabelle, as well as her siblings Percy, Edna, Doreen and Ken.
Teri was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Theresa, her brother George and sisters Elise and Ruby.
Teri was born in Bangor, Saskatchewan on July 14, 1945. Teri spent her childhood in Saskatchewan and Ontario. Even from a young age she nurtured and cared for her family.
In Teulon, Manitoba Teri met the love of her life. Paul and Teri married on April 20, 1963. Paul and Teri spent their early married life together in Winnipeg. It was there they welcomed their first 4 children. The family moved from Winnipeg to Lethbridge in 1978 where her baby David joined the family.
Teri was a hard worker and spent over 25 years at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. She met many lifelong friends through her work. She was looking forward to retirement next year.
Teri loved spending her spare visiting with family and friends. Teri’s joy in life was caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated grandmother, always putting her grandchildren first. Whether it was watching them play sports, dance, participate in school concerts or quietly coloring, she was always a presence in their lives.
Funeral services will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Elizabeth Brown officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #207, 542 7th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2H1.

MARY FUNK
1926 - 2009

It is with extreme sorrow we are announcing the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Mary, beloved wife of the late Issac Funk, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Sunday, February 22, 2009.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Karen Pierson, Maxine (Jesse) Brooks and son Warren (Brenda) Funk all of Lethbridge, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by Ike, her loving husband of 49 years; infant daughter Wanda; son Donovan; grandson Jesse; her parents Aron and Anne Neustaeter, her brother John; and her son in law, Brian Pierson.
Mary was born Sept 19, 1926 in Winkler, Manitoba. On April 3, 1949 she married Isaac “Ike” Funk. Together they made their home in Swift Current, later moving to Lethbridge in 1950. There they started our family in 1952. Mary worked various jobs over the years, she worked at Lethbridge Municipal Hospital and then started working at Simpson Sears for 25 years where many friendships were made. Through the years she enjoyed her valued friendships and lunch dates with the Sears girls. Mom loved the outdoors, camping was one of her most enjoyable activities. Gardening was also a big passion of moms, there were always plenty of flowers around the house in the summer and when mom and dad moved to their condo mom was the first to volunteer to take care of the flower garden. Mom loved to knit, she would make afghans for all the kids and would spend countless hours donating her time at Blankets For Canada.
Mary was immensely proud of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the heart of the family and her passing leaves a huge void. We were all truly blessed by her presence in our lives and will cherish our memories of her forever.
The family would like to thank her long time family physician, Dr. Billet for the excellent care and dedication to her well being. And also the doctors and staff at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre for their excellent care in her last days.
A Funeral Service will be held at UNIVERSITY DRIVE ALLIANCE CHURCH, 55 Columbia Blvd. West, on Friday February 27, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Scott Dixon officiating.
Interment to follow at Archmount Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society # 402, 740 – 4 Ave South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0N9 or St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre 1400 – 9th Ave South Lethbridge. AB T1J 4V5.

TONY FENRICK
2009

ANTON “TONY” FENRICK beloved husband of wife Nellie Fenrick (currently residing at Edith Cavell Care Centre) passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the age of 87 years.
He is survived by two daughters Iris (Pete) Bargar and Maxine (Lawrence) Andrewshak; and very special friend, Rita Berlando.
Tony was predeceased by his daughter Mavis Fenrick and brother Dennis Fenrick.
A Funeral Service will be held at IMMANUAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. W., Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Richard Brown officiating.

IDA FELDMAN (HOLZER)
August 6, 1924 – January 28, 2009
passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Ida is survived by her son Edward (Janet) Feldman of Iroquois, Ontario, and their children, Joanne, Geoff and Christine; daughter, Judy Page of Coaldale, Alberta, and her four children, Douglas, Maria, Theresa and Emily; Debbie (Brian) Burritt of Calgary, Alberta, and their three children, Jennifer, Michelle and Kimberly; and Larry Feldman (Kang Chu), of Waterloo, Ontario; sisters Katherine and Lily; as well as great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ida was predeceased by her husband, Sam, in 1995 and their son, Philip, in 1967; as well as her mother and father, Adalbert and Johanna Holzer; two brothers, Albert and Steve; and her sister and best friend, Helen Johnson.
As per Ida’s wishes, no services will be held. Interment will take place May 9, 2009, at 12pm, Queen’s Park Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Michael’s Palliative Care Center. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ida’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre, c/o SMHC Foundation, 1400 – 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 4V5.

DEWAYNE FORD
1922 - 2009

ORVILLE “DEWAYNE” FORD, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Care Centre on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the age of 86 years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Doreen, sons Bob Ford (Rosalee); Russ Ford (Josie); Ron Ford (Christine); Ross Ford (Jackie); daughter Donna Ford and step daughter Carolyn Scrigner (Bruno); grandchildren Ben and Beth (Bob), Stephen and Celeste (Russ), Karen, Cody and Brady (Ron), Katie (Ross) and Juliana and Isabella (Carolyn); and great grandchildren Bailey and Reef (Karen/Ryan Dickie).
DeWayne was predeceased by his first wife Margaret, parents LillieBelle and Henry, brothers Jack, Walt, Russ, Everett, and sister Alice.
DeWayne was born March 28, 1922 at his parents home in Milk River, AB. The family moved to the farm east of Coutts in 1928 where he has resided until his passing. DeWayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He lived life to the fullest and always had a positive outlook even through life’s toughest challenges. He lived his life by the Golden Rule and was thankful for all that he had been given.
Memorial Services will be at the MILK RIVER CIVIC CENTRE, 321-3rd Ave. N.E., Milk River, AB on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Mary Young, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lethbridge Renal Clinic, 935-17th Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 3E4.

SIEGMUND FIEDLER
1936 - 2008

SIEGMUND FIEDLER, of Lethbridge, AB, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the age of 72 years.
Siegmund is survived by his siblings; Lydia (Alfred) Betke of Coaldale, and their children, Evelyn, Dave and Rose (Stephan) Sharko as well as Trudy (Dick) Krueger and their children Danny (Tanya) and Michael (Janice). Uncle Siegmund will also be fondly remembered by Cadence, Taya, Jayda and Tyson Krueger.
Born in Germany on April 10, 1936 Siegmund lived as a refugee with his family until immigrating to Canada in 1952. Upon his arrival in Canada, he settled in the Picture Butte area, later moving to the Readymade area. In 1967 Siegmund and his brother Julius began farming in the Grassy Lake area, retiring to Lethbridge in 2004. Siegmund will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Carl Bogda, officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

REV. ERIC FENNEMA
1949 - 2008

REV. C. ERIC FENNEMA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, minister of the Gospel and friend went home to the Lord on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the age of 58.
Eric was born in Roseland, Illinois on November 8, 1949, son of the late Clarence and Cecile Fennema. Eric’s desire for ministry began early in life. God confirmed the call and he was ordained into the ministry on January 14, 1975.
The Lord lead Eric to many congregations during his 34 years of ministry. These congregations include: Beacon Light CRC, Gary, Indiana; Sibley CRC, Sibley, Iowa; Napa Valley CRC, Napa, California; First CRC, Rock Valley, Iowa; Trinity URC, Lethbridge, Alberta. Eric’s passion was for the Lord. He preached the Word of the Lord with conviction according to His almighty purposes. Eric urgently prayed for his family and others that they be right with the Lord; to have their faith in the Lord.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy.
Eric is survived by Helen, his loving wife of 37 years, five children; Anne (Scott) Hendrikse, Joel Fennema, Jonathan Fennema, Sarah (Jason) Van Voorst, and Caryn (Micah) Schouten; six grandchildren: Hannah, Mary and Jacob Hendrikse; Mackinzie and Faith Van Voorst; and Alexa Schouten; two brothers: Roger (Carol) and Alan (Darlene); two sisters: Virginia Eizenga and Marcia (John) Hohm; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Ps. 116: 13-15 “I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
Romans 8: 38-39: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the Love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
In lieu of flowers in memory of Eric, donations may be made to Christian Credit Union, for the purposes of Christian Education, 1619 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB T1K 2R4.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at TRINITY UNITED REFORMED CHURCH, 1100 – 40 Avenue North, Lethbridge, Alberta on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at TRINITY UNITED REFORMED CHURCH, on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Chris Gordon officiating.
Interment will take place at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley, Iowa.
