Long

Lynn Long, May 30, 1919 - November 19, 2000. Lynn passed away peacefully at her home in High River on Sunday, November 19. Left to mourn her loss are her daughter Judy Grigat , her husband Garth and son Rob of Edson, AB; her son Wayne and his sons Greg, Steven and Bryan of Beaumont, AB; and great grandsons Steven and Cole. Also surviving is LynnŐs sister Sheila Gledhill and her daughters Barbara and Kathryn and their families, all of Hinton, AB; and her sister-in-law Hattie Long of Claresholm. Lynn is also survived by nieces Sharon, Faye, Isla and Phyllis and nephews Howard and David and their families; as well as many close friends in High River, Hinton and Claresholm. Lynn was predeceased by her husband Chester and her grandson Michael. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 23, 2000 at the High River United Church. Lynn will be remembered for her love and commitment to her family, her hard work and dedication to UCW and High River United Church. She will also be remembered as a classroom grandma who listened to so many children as they learned to read. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark Elem. School Library Fund, 1208 - 9 Ave., SE, High River, 652-2020. Funds will be used to purchase children's books in LynnŐs memory.

MEYER

Eunice Mildred went to be with her Lord on November 17th, 2000. She was the second of three children born to Walter and Minnie Meyer on a homestead in Blackie, Alberta. Eunice called Blackie and High River 'home' for her entire life until being hospitalized several years ago. Eunice was an evangelist with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada for over fifty years, traveling extensively across Canada and many U.S. locations. Her vibrant and unique ministry touched and enriched many lives during her lifetime. One highlight of her ministry was a one week crusade at Central Pentecostal Church in Edmonton that continued on for eight weeks, with the church filled to capacity nearly every night. Eunice will be lovingly remembered by her sister Myrtle (Frank) Jensen of Edmonton, her sister-in-law Bertha Meyer of High River, her nieces Margaret Rose (Neil) Swanson of Peace River, Marilyn Meyer of Banff, her nephew Wayne (Beverly) Meyer of Calgary, grandniece Kristen Swanson of Calgary and grandnephew Ryan Swanson of Tyler, Texas. She is predeceased by her father Walter in 1966, her mother Minnie in 1983, her brother Walter Laverne in 1998 and her sister-in-law Mary in 1982. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Mitchell and the staff of the Willow Creek Auxiliary Hospital in Claresholm for their care and compassion. Thank you to the special friends that were part of Eunice's life, and especially Marge Lyons and Mildred Tretwold for their love and care, particularly in her later years. Funeral services were held at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, 117 - 2nd Ave. S.E., High River on Thursday, November 23rd, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Rick Wengel and the Reverend Lorne McAlister officiating. Graveside services followed at the Highwood Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada Evangelistic Fund at 2450 Milltower Court, Mississauga, Ontario L5N 5Z6 or the Full Gospel Tabernacle Building Fund at 117 - 2nd Ave., S.E., High River, T1V 1G4. Funeral arrangements by Snodgrass Funeral Home, High River 652-2222.

WADDY

Janice Olive Waddy of Blackie, Alberta passed away at the High River Hospital on November 25th, 2000 at the age of 52 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Harvey Waddy, Blackie; her son Curtis Waddy, Drumheller; her daughters Colleen Joy Waddy, Blackie and Sarah (Jeff) Bergquist, Lloydminster, AB. She is also survived by her sister Christine Nelson, Athabasca and her brother Michael (Clare) Nelson, London, ON. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Gladys Nelson. A memorial service was held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River on Wednesday, November 29th at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Donald Bergquist officiating. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 215 - 12th Ave., SE., Calgary, AB T1G 1A2. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home, High River, 403-652-2222.

WEDDERBURN

Mr. John David Wedderburn, a longtime resident of Okotoks, passed away at the High River Hospital and Nursing Home on November 26, 2000 at the age of 79 years. John will be dearly missed by his daughter Marie of Coronach, Sask., and son David and his wife Maureen of Okotoks and their children Andrew and Ashley. John is also survived by his brothers Bill of Edmonton, Lawrie (Betty) of Okotoks and their families, his aunts, Dorothy Walker and Vera Lawrence. He was predeceased by his wife Pat in 1996. John was born on his grandparents, Alice and Frank Watt's farm near Longview on September 21, 1921. John attended the Windy Hill School. The Wedderburn family moved to Okotoks in 1938. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Yarmouth and Iceland. He married Patricia Banister in July 1943. When John was discharged from the Air Force, he and Pat moved to the farm on the hill and John remained there until recently. John was very involved in the community. He was a member of the Elks Club, Masonic Lodge, Seed Cleaning Board, The Okotoks United Church, the Okotoks Historical Society, and Lancaster Aviation Society, the 4H Beef Club and the High River Oldtimers Association. John was instrumental in bringing electricity and telephone into the Okotoks/DeWinton areas. John and Pat had a great love of dancing. A Funeral Service was held at the Okotoks United Church on Thursday, November 30, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Doug Powell officiated. Interment followed at Okotoks Union Cemetery. If desired, in memory of John, memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Purple Cross Fund For Hearing Impaired, Box 1033, Okotoks, Alberta T0L 1T0. Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home (Okotoks) Ltd. Telephone; 938-3111.

ST. AMOUR (ELLIS)

Dolores Clara St. Amour (Ellis) of High River, passed away at the High River Hospital on January 12th, 2001 at the age of 68 years. Dolores is survived by her loving daughters: Sharon Ellis (Terry Wilson), Calgary; Karen Ellis ( Scott Quon), High River and Linda Ellis (Doug Jordan), Blackie, her loving sons: Murray (Donna) O'Brien, Waterloo, Ont. and Bernard (Theresa) O'Brien, Kitchener, Ont., 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Alma Holmes, Kitchener, Ont. and her brothers: Wilbert (Wilma) Gross, Breslau, Ont.; Harold Gross, Wasaga Beach, Ont. and Ronald (Evelyn) Gross, Waterloo, Ont. Dolores was predeceased by her former husband Irvin Ellis in 1989, her son Paul Ellis in 1976, her granddaughter Kristy in 1980 and her parents Magdalena Veronica and Albert Gross. Born at Neustadt, Ontario on November 23rd, 1932, Dolores has resided in High River and area since 1978. She and Irvin operated D & E Upholstery in Nanton for 3 years. A memorial gathering was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 71, High River on Friday, January 19th, 2001 between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Dolores' cremains will be interred with her husband Irvin at Cayley Cemetery at a later date.
