PERRATT -- Mr. Andrew (Andy) William Perratt, beloved husband of Chrystle Perratt of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Agape Manor on December 23, 1997 at the age of 55 years. Andy moved to Calgary in the 1960's and worked in the auto parts busiess before moving on to Air Canada, where he recently received his thirty year service pin. Besides his loving wife Chrystle, Andy is survived by his two sons, Trevor Perratt of Calgary, and Terry Stirler of Surrey, B.C.; and his two daughters, Jodene Perratt and Zena Burtniak, both of Calgary. He is also survived by two sisters, Jacqui Wolffe and Zena McKinley. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas Cowan of Pleasant Heights United Church officiating. Casual dress please. PETERS -- Mrs. Eva Muriel Peters of Calgary, passed away at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary Hospital on Tuesday, December 30, 1997, at the age of 85 years. Eva was born February 25, 1912, at the Devenish Apartments in Calgary. She had attended St. Hilda' Private School. Eva enjoyed gardening and being with people. Eva is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Sharon Peters of Calgary; and three grandsons, Todd, Darryl and Kevin. She is also survived by a brother and a sister-in-law, Richard and Peggy Wallace of Calgary. Eva was predeceased by her husband Albert on May 7, 1996. RICARD -- Lionel Ricard of Calgary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at the age of 82 years. Lionel was born on October 10, 1915 at Grand Mere, Quebec. His family came to the Standard area when he was a young boy and farmed for mny years until his retirement. Dad was very active in the community. He had a love of sports and was involved in baseball, hockey and curling. He was a charter member of the Standard Lions Club. Education was very important to Dad and he served for many years as a school trustee for the Wheatland School Division. Lionel is survived by his loving wife of fifty-years, Freda; his children, Barbara (Barry), Joanne (Richard), Carol (Ray), Ron (Kenna) and John (Colleen); as well as nine grandchildren, Brent, Burton, Roxanne, Kim, Mark, Adam, Jennifer, Kyla and Luke; and his two sisters, Madeleine and Lucille. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at the Pinnacle Penthouse Suite, 9600 Southland Circle S.W. ROSS -- Blanche (DoDo) Hunt Ross (Hutchings), born March 26, 1909 in Calgary, passed away after a lengthy illness on December 29, 1997 at the age of 88 years. She was the devoted wife of Charles Walter Ross for sixty-two years. She is survived by herhusband Charles; two daughters, Cynthia Margot Thibault (Freeman Carl) and Alix Brooke Diercks (Dallas Delbert). Blanche was predeceased by one sister Marion Baird and five brothers, Jack, Douglas, Harry, Stuart and George, and one granddaughter Collette Margot Thibault. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 - 8 Street S.W.) today at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. RYLL -- Mr. Ernest Ryll of Calgary, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the George Boyack Nursing Home on December 29, 1997 at the age 89 years. Ernest is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Carol Ryll of Calgary. He was predeceased byhis wife Hertha in 1995. SEATON -- Dorothy Seaton, aged 94, passed on suddenly at the Foothills Hospital on December 28, 1997. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1989 and her brother Fred in 1980. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her daughter Valerie (Patrick) Scholefild, with whom she lived for the past eight years; her son David (Margaret) Seaton, Taunton, England; and five grandchildren, Duncan, Fiona and Alistair (England), Robert and Deborah (Calgary); as well as many friends and relatives. SILVESTER -- Olive Nancy Silvester (nee Foster) of Calgary, passed away at the Carewest Sarcee Long Term Care Centre on Sunday, December 21, 1997 at the age of 82 years. She is the loving mother of a son Robert and wife Marianne Silvester of England;two daughters, Kayte Hendrie of England and Angela and husband James McGuiness of Calgary; four grandchildren, Kate and Michelle McGuiness, and Jamie and Sara Hendrie. She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters. Olive was predeceased by her husband Bob and son-in-law Paul (Jed) Hendrie. SISSON -- Mr. Emmerton (Em) Sisson, beloved husband of Kathleen, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 30, 1997 at the age of 75 years. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter Dorothy Spicer; son Peter (Anne); five grandhildren, Tara, Jason, Kristofur, Robert and Leah. He is also survived by four brothers, Joe (Dorothy), Harry (Ardath), Ray (Vera), Frank; two sisters, Muriel and Nora; as well as many nieces and nephews. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1941 to 1945 and worked as a Customs Officer with the Federal Government. TENNANT -- L.Col Mark Tennant, C.M.O. St. J., E.D., C.D., former Commanding Officer of The Calgary Highlanders, former City of Calgary Alderman and Calgary businessman, passed away at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on Monday, December 29, 1997 at the ae of 84 years. L.Col Tennant was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 27, 1913. He attended school at St. Rose du Lac, Manitoba completing his studies at Lethbridge, Alberta. At the age of thirteen he joined the Royal Canadian Army Cadets in Lethbridge, later enlisting in the South Alberta Regiment. At the onset of World War II he reenlisted as a private with the 20th Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery of Lethbridge. He transferred to the 1st Battalion, The Calgary Highlanders on September 6, 1939 and joined the Battalion in England in December 1940. He was promoted to Captain in June 1942 and to Major in August 1944. L.Col Tennant was wounded three times while overseas. After the war, he remained with The Calgary Highlanders, serving as the Training Officer and in 1948, he became Second in Command of the Regiment. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on July 1, 1955. In June 1950, L.Col Tennant married Joyce Jalland. As a Calgary Highlander, he received the 1939-45 Star-France and Germany Star-Defence Medal, the Defence of Britain Medal, The Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Bar, the Canadian Forces Decoration Medal, the Victory Medal with Bar, the Efficiency Decoration, the Coronation Medal 1952, the Centennial Medal in 1967, the Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee Medal, the "D" Day Medal, and was Mentioned in Dispatches on three occasions. L.Col Tennant also served as an Alderman for the City of Calgary for twelve years. He retired from The Calgary Highlanders on September 24, 1962. On July 13, 1977, he was appointed Honourary Lieutenant Colonel of The Calgary Highlanders. In June, 1981, L.Col Tennant was received as a Companion of the Order of Canada. As a measure of thanks on the fiftieth anniversary of Holland's liberations, the City of Doetincham named a park "Mark Tennant Plantsoen - A Canadian Liberator" in his Honour in May 1955. L.Col Tennant's last public act as a Calgary Highlander was to lay the wreath at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day this year, proudly wearing his Regimental Glengarry headdress. He is the beloved husband of Joyce Tennant, Calgary; dear father of Craig Tennant, Bottrel, Alberta, and Wayne and Pam Tennant, Vancouver, BC; dear grandfather of Justin, Jessie, Bradley, MacKenzie, Stefanie, Nicolai and Samantha. He is also survived by brother William, Lethbridge, Alberta; four sisters, Annie, Lethbridge, Claudia and Frances, Calgary and Zeda of Bermuda. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Petillon and Nora Tennant, daughter-in-law Candace Tennant and brother Rex. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral (219 - 18 Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. William F. Stephenson, Celebrant. VELETI -- Mary Veleti, passed away suddenly at the Rockyview Hospital on December 30, 1997, at the age of 87 years. Mary was born in Michel, British Columbia and grew up in the Rimbey-Bentley area and spent her adult life in Lethbridge and Calgary. Mry was a pillar of strength for her family and will be thoroughly missed. She was a real lady, who loved her family and people in general. Mary left a lasting impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her. Everyone loved her dearly. Mary was a member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary Kensington Branch No. 264. She is the loving mother of a son and a daughter-in-law, John and Jeneline Veleti of Camrose, Alberta; three daughters and a son-in-law, Anne Bradley of Calgary, Alberta, Florence Verkley of Nanaimo, British Columbia, and Cathy and George Cannon of Calgary, Alberta; fourteen grandchildren, Cheryl and Doug Archer, Darrel and Karen Veleti, Cyindy and Keith Kulak, Lorne and Fran Veleti, Steven Bradley, Mary-Ellen Bradley, Cecilia Grinham, Richard and Pauline Verkley, Corinne and David Erickson, Gregory and Denise Verkley, Vernon and Inge Verkley, Bruce and Jane Cannon, Sandy McAulay and Phil Cannon. Mary is also survived by a brother Alex Papp; and two sisters, Margaret Stothers and Julia Girling. She is predeceased by her husband Steve William in 1972, as well as nine brothers and sisters. WALSH -- William Walter, beloved husband of Leonore (Nora) of Calgary, passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on December 31, 1997 at the age of 94 years. Walter will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family, his wife Nora; son Larry anddaughter-in-law Carole, and grandson Sean Potter. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Kathy. Walter was born in Big Stone, South Dakota on June 16, 1903. Shortly afterwards his family moved to Trossachs, Saskatchewan and homesteaded there. In 1921 he began his business career that spanned sixty-five years. His working life involved teaching, farming, farm implement sales, custom harvesting, truck equipment sales, painting and sandblast contracting and publishing. At age sixty-one, he began to publish a specialized business directory. That directory is still in existence with the second generation. He was active in politics on all three levels of government and maintained an intense interest in world and current affairs. He retired at age eighty-four to spend more time with Nora, his wife of fifty-two years and to do a bit of travelling. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary for the warm and loving care Walter received. WASALASKO -- On December 30, 1997, James Dmytro Wasalasko of Edmonton, passed away at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his loving wife Florica; two sons, Jim (Gloria) of Calgary, Gary of Edmonton; stepdaughter Carmen (William) McKenzie of Edmonon; his mother Anne Wasalasko of Edmonton; brother Richard (Joyce) of Toronto; and sister Esther Kubbernus of Creston, B.C. He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret and father Nicholas. Jim enjoyed the simple things in life, hard work, good food and laughter with family and friends. WATMOUGH -- Douglas Kim, on December 30, 1997, Mr. Kim Watmough of Edmonton, passed away at the age of 42 years after a very lengthy illness. Kim is survived by his daughter Tammy Lynn; parents, Roy and Pearl Watmough of Airdrie; five brothers, Brianof Calgary, Vern (Wendy) of Didsbury, Peter of Red Deer, Milton of Calgary, Gerald (Ruth) of Airdrie; two sisters, Darlene (Terry) Shank of Calgary and Kathy (Wayne) Sanderson of Calgary; grandmother Emma Bendall; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. Kim was born in Lethbridge on November 25, 1955. He attended McKay Road School and Bowness High School in Calgary. Kim leaves many close friends, especially Myrna Pushee at the Residence where he lived for many years. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Service will be held at a later date. WELDON -- Mrs. Sybil Mary Weldon (nee Neary) of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on December 31, 1997, at the age of 84 years. Sybil was born in 1913 in Dublin, Ireland. She came to Canada in 1957, settling in Calgary. Sybilstarted "Tara Dancers", which was the first Irish dancing school in Calgary. She worked at the Holy Cross Hospital as a bookkeeper, retiring after twenty-five years. Sybil is survived and will always be remembered by her children, Marie and Alex Bakay, Brian and Karen Weldon, Aileen Weldon, Aileen Weldon and Laurin Olson, all of Calgary, and Colette and Cal Miller of Vancouver, B.C.; eleven grandchildren, Cathy, Liam, Brendan, Michael, Ryan, Kristin, Jocelyn, Laura, Nicole, Colin, Jenine; and a great-grandson Shawn. She is also survived by five brothers, Kevin Neary of Coventry, England, Eamon Neary of Staines, England, James Neary, Gerald Neary and Hugh Neary, all of Calgary. Sybil was predeceased by her husband Jack Weldon in 1978. WHITLOCK -- On December 21, 1997, Gregory Randolph Whitlock passed away suddenly at the age of 39 years while on vacation in Pattaya, Thailand.
