WEX, LABELL -- Myra. Died Friday night, November 21, 1997 in her ninety-first year.

Wife of the late Moishe Wex of Calgary, Alberta.

Survived by her devoted children, Howard and Libby, Ronnie and Rhoda.

Loving and caring grandchildren, Mitchell and Jason, Derek and Lucy, Neil and Marni, Stephen and Stanley.

She also leaves great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Jenna, Jordan and Amy whom she adored.

As well, survived by the devoted Wex family. 183551

ARKELL -- Rose Arkell of the Central Park Lodge passed away on November 25, 1997 at the age of 86 years.

Rose is survived by her brother Terry Soldan of Vegreville, Alberta; sisters, Marie Wasa, Edmonton, Phyllis Yanchyshyn, Salmon Arm, B.C., Nettie Petaske, Kelowna, B.C., Olga (Nick) Kostyniuk, Edmonton and Evangeline Kitz, Kelowna; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1981, her parents Dmytro and Catherine Soldan, five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at Leyden's "Chapel of Remembrance " (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Saturday, November 29, 1997 at 1:00 p.m.

Internment will follow in Queen's Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Central Park Lodge 1813 - 9 Street S.W., Calgary T2T 3C2.

As a tribute to Rose, LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME will make a donation to Central Park Lodge.

BARBER -- James (Jim) William Barber passed away November 25, 1997 at the age of 71 years in Kelowna, B.C.

Jim will be deeply missed by is wife of forty-eight years, Kathleen (Kay) Marie Barber (nee MacQuarrie).

Jim was a wonderful husband and a devoted father to his three children; Kathy-Jo (Tim) Smith (Anchorage, Alaska), Joan (Joe) Trofananko (Kamloops, B.C.) and Kirk Barber (Calgary, Alberta).

He was "Grandpa" to Christopher Barber, Jocelyn Barber, Kyle Smith and Jamie Barber.

His sisters, Renee (Vic) Schneider (Kelowna, B.C.) and Gwen Reed (Calgary, Alberta), who supported him through his life, also survive him.

We will all miss his sage advice and direct, no nonsense approach to life.

Jim was a successful businessman and his proud legacy was to be able to provide his family members with comfortable lives.

We all thank Dr. Michael Shepherd of Kelowna, B.C. for his "white coat" visits and his concern for Jim and Kay's quality of life and for the extra years of life that his care gave to Jim and his family.

Jim was a simple man when considering ceremony.

He will be cremated and a private family Service will be held.

In lieu of flowers or donations we know Jim would ask you to celebrate his life and to do something to make your loved ones lives better.

BAUTISTA -- Magdalena Bautista (nee Landa), passed away November 22, 1997 at the age of 74.

Relatives and friends may gather at Pierson's Funeral Home, 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E. on Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., with Prayers at 7:00 p.m on Thursday and Friday evening.

Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 5552 Madigan Drive N.E. on Saturday, November 29 at 9:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

BROADBERRY -- Edna Lillian Broadberry, passed away quietly at the Overlander Extended Care Hospital in Kamloops on Friday, November 21, 1997, at the age of 89 years.

Predeceased by her husband Walter Hugh Broadberry on April 19, 1992, she is survived by her son Jonathan Hugh Broadberry; and two grandchildren, Christopher Hugh and Ann Elizabeth.

Born in Birmingham, England, Edna came to Calgary, Alberta in 1924.

She worked there as a stenographer in the Supervisors' Department of the Royal Bank until her marriage to Hugh in 1940.

They were active together in Calgary society and in Christ Church, Anglican, for many years.

After Hugh's death she moved to Kamloops to be close to her family and escape the long winters.

In her younger years, Edna enjoyed travel and regularly visited England with Hugh.

Dancing was a lifelong pleasure and as recently as last year she still loved to dance and listen to a variety of music.

She understood the importance of the simple things in life, quiet walks and good books.

Edna embodied the grace of earlier eras in her manners and her outlook on life.

An accomplished conversationalist, she enjoyed the company of friends and the practice of gentility.

She lived her life by her personal motto: "Only the best is good enough".

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her.

Very Reverend Nick Parker will conduct the Memorial Service in the Dean Jolley Memorial Chapel, St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral, Fourth and Nicola Street, Kamloops, on Saturday, November 29, 1997 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Paul's Memorial Fund, 360 Nicola Street, Kamloops, B.C. in memory of Edna Broadberry would be appreciated.
