It is with great sadness that we report the death of our father, grandfather, uncle and friend Pete. After a year of ill health, Pete gave up his life in the Shellbrook Hospital at the age of 84.

In 1945, after several years of service to our country, Pete began a trucking business in North Battleford, SK. In 1956, Peter relocated to Alberta where he was employed as a truck driver; during an off-season he managed the North Battleford Legion. He once again began his own business and made his home in Alberta. Pete hired many people from the Battleford areas. During these years, Pete resided in Empress, AB and later in Longview, AB. After his retirement, Pete remained by the mountains in the wintertime, and began spending his summers in Saskatchewan close to his family. Pete spent many hours of his life driving the highway from Alberta to Saskatchewan, as he always attended family gatherings and celebrations.

In his later years, he again took up residence in North Battleford. In February of 2000, he was hospitalized and later moved to Big River to be closer to his family. Pete’s health suffered a serious setback in September. He once again relocated to the Whispering Pine’s Nursing Home in Canwood, SK. Pete made many friends in his life journey. Until his passing, he continued to entertain and impress the many caregivers and new acquaintances. We will remember our father, grandfather, uncle and friend as a gifted man of physical strength, diverse abilities, with a strong character and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved fishing and playing cards. His ability to recall with precision and detail memories from all stages of his life, was complimented by his love of life and a learned appreciation for the gift of time. Pete, we love you and will treasure and remember your many 'sayings,' stories and jokes. They will remain for us a source of comfort. Rest in peace, Daddy.

The family has requested that memorial donations be directed to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sallows & McDonald Funeral Home, North Battleford, SK.
