1944 – 2006

Norm went to be with Jesus on October 30th, 2006 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 62 years.

Norm will be deeply missed by Joy, his loving wife of 39 wonderful years; his sons Mike and Kevin (Rebecca); daughter Naomi (Dan) Dunphy; grandchildren Naomi, Brandt, Kathryn, Shiloh, Jared and Britany; brothers Oral (Jill) and Richard; sisters Irene (Mike) Simpkins, Sandra and Ella; mother Lydia; mother-in-law Mary, brother-in-law Ed (Esther) Dagg and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceasing Norm was his father Leslie and sister-in-law Sharon in 1993.

Norm loved spending time creating and flying his model airplanes and sitting down to a good hockey game.

He was a man who was devoted and caring to his family and church.

Norm was soft spoken but when he did choose to speak, people knew it must be important and they listened.

Norm loved his family and friends dearly.

He also loved his Lord and was excited about his God given vision for God’s House, which sustained him to the end.

A visitation service was held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Snodgrass Funeral Home, 200 Woodgate Road, Okotoks, Alberta.

A celebration of Norm’s life was held on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Assembly Pentecostal Church, 6031 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, Alberta.

A private family interment was held later in the day.

In Norm’s memory, contributions may be made to LifeLine Malawi, 210, 1289 Highfield Cres S.E. T2G 5M2 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 2424 – 4th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T2S 2T4.

Pat was born September 18, 1932 and passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2006 after a long, courageous battle.

Pat was a loving mother to Terry (Darcy) Burton, Doug (Janeille) and Ken (Anna), a grandma to Dean (Carrie), Tanya (Jay), Janeille (Lee), Stephanie, Kelsie, Megan and Ashley and a great-grandma to Breanna and Christian.

Predeceased by her loving husband Ray, son Darrel and granddaughter Julieanna as well as her sisters Margaret and Jo.

She will be loved and missed by family and friends.

A memorial service was held at South Calgary Funeral Centre, 12700 Macleod Trail South (corner of Macleod Trail S. at Lake Fraser Gate) on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 1 pm.

If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, #271, 339 – 50 Ave SE, Calgary AB T2G 2B3.

1927 – 2006

Chuck, Your love was a special gift, Our hearts will never forget.

It is with deep sadness that the family of Charles A. Jones announce his passing on October 30, 2006 in High River, Alberta at the age of 79 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ethel, the love of his life for 56 years; son Len (Ann) of Okotoks, Alberta; granddaughter Jessica and daughter Karen (Leon) of Toronto, Ontario.

Charlie was born May 1, 1927 in Toronto to parents Bernard and Isabella Jones.

He was an enthusiastic mechanic for CP Rail for 43 years and will be dearly missed by his many friends made during those years.

Charlie’s interest in the railway continued even during his 20-year retirement.

Charlie will be making one last journey by train, with his wife, to be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto along with his mother and father.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses of the Okotoks Home Care and High River Hospital, Okotoks EMS and Fire Department for their care and kindness.

If desired, contributions may be made, in memory of Charlie, to the Okotoks Community Health and Wellness, 11 Cimarron Common, Okotoks, Alberta T1S 2E9, Attn: Community Care.

1919 – 2006

Bill Usselman, formerly of Beiseker and Irricana areas, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the age of 86 years.

Bill enjoyed music, dancing, sewing and fishing. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Larry and Deanna of Blackie; his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Dave Hendrickson of Prince Albert, SK; five grandchildren, Emma Ruth, Roger, Ricky, Dewanda and Tanya; six greatgrandchildren; as well as his two brothers, Mel and Shirley, and Wendel and Susan all of Calgary.

Bill was predeceased by his wives, Betty and Katherine, and his sisters, Marion and Isabel.

Relatives and friends were invited to prayers and tributes at McInnis & Holloway’s Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 7 p.m.

Funeral mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Beiseker, AB) on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Poile, Presider.

Graveside service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Beiseker.

Troy Leslie Edgecombe, of Water Valley, AB., passed away tragically on December 6, 2006 at the age of 37 years.

Troy was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

He moved with his family to Lethbridge, AB., when he was 11 and then to Calgary when he was 18.

He took Instrumentation Technology at SAIT and after working in the industry for many years, he started his own company, Tuber Troy Instrumentation Services.

Troy loved the outdoors, riding his quad, camping, his many Ford trucks, especially Flipper and working in his garage and yard.

Troy was always generous and willing to help family, friends and the community – from opening his home to anyone in need, including an array of animals; to helping on his brother in law’s farm; to helping his wife Tara organize Water Valley Days and other community events.

Troy loved the Bargain Finder and his garage is a testament to his many great deals.

Troy was quick to play jokes on unsuspecting friends and had a multitude of skills that he used successfully both in his work and family life.

Above all, Troy loved his wife and daughters.

Troy is survived by his loving wife Tara and his two little girls Kyra and Jace; parents Ken and Joanne Edgecombe of Okotoks; sister and brother in law Kim and Henry Jung of Okotoks; his Grandma Winnifred of Belleville, Ontario; Tara’s parents Jim McLachlan of Millet and Melanie Anderson and Brian Gancheff of Chestermere; sister-in-law and husband Lanie and Art Parr of Dewberry; brother-in-law Rory McLachlan of Edmonton; and nephews and nieces Dehnen Jung, Jelena and Laramie Parr and Tyler McLachlan.

Troy is also survived by Tara’s Grandmas Shirley McLachlan and Helen Anderson; stepsister Michelle (Scott); stepbrothers Chad and Taylor; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and B.C. and special friends John and Lori Weidmark and family.

Troy was predeceased by three of his grandparents.

A private family celebration of Troy’s life was held at the Water Valley Community Hall at 12 p.m. on Sunday, December 10 followed by an open house for friends, neighbours and colleagues at 2 p.m.

If friends or family so desire memorial donations can be made to a Trust Fund for Kyra and Jace at any Alberta Treasury Branch.
