CAMERON -- John Dickson Cameron passed away Thursday, December 18, 1997, at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived and missed by Elsie, his wife of forty-six years; children, John, James, Dickson, Janice and husband Peter; granddaughter Janay; sisters, Sara and husband Jim Cunningham, Barbara and husband John Wood; and brother Cam and wife Daphne Cameron. Born in East St. Mary's, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late John MacKenzie and Martha (Dickson) Cameron. John furthered his education at the University of Saskatchewan, Mount Allison and attended Cornell University on a scholarship. The majority of his career was in the oil and gas industry with Dome Petroleum. During his thirty-seven years with Dome he worked on both domestic and international projects. Upon his retirement he worked as a consultant to the oil industry and took pleasure in being involved in the local film industry as an actor. He was always active in the community, he drove for the Cancer Society for five years and was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. CLISDELL -- Catherine Emily Clisdell of Calgary, passed away suddenly at her residence on Tuesday, December 16, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Emily was born August 5, 1925 in Timmins, Ontario. She moved to Calgary in 1968 and worked for Health of Animals. In 1973, she married Bert Clisdell and later moved to Kathyrn and to Airdrie where she worked for the accounting firm of Phil Wallis. During the Second World War, Emily served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was presently a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Airdrie Branch No. 288. Emily is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-laws, Marie and Kevin Towns, Marilyn and Phil Bates, Isabell Clisdell; and a son Robert Clisdell, all of Calgary; and three granddaughters, Kayla, Brittany and Ashleigh. She is also survived by a sister Anne Magnuson of Connaught, Ontario; and a niece Billie Jeges of Carstairs, Alberta; as well as many other nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her husband Bert in 1996 and five brothers, Albert, Bill, Ken, Jack and Bob. DOUGAN -- Mary Florence Dougan of Calgary, passed away at the Cross Bow Auxiliary Hospital on December 17, 1997 at the age of 96 years. Mary was born and raised in Oxford, Nova Scotia. She married Francis L. Dougan of Moncton, New Brunswick in 1950 and lived in that city until 1989. She moved back to Calgary with her sister Margaret, where she resided until her passing. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Mary's Seniors and the Catholic Woman's League. She is survived by a sister Margaret Jeffers of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. ENGEL -- Mr. Adolf Engel of Calgary went to be with his Lord on December 18, 1997 at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Elfriede; his brother Jake of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews living both in Canada and Germany. Adolf was born in 1908 in Klostitz, Besarabia, Russia. He and his loving wife Elfriede immigrated to Canada in 1953, living for a year in Taber, and two years in Champion. The couple moved to Calgary in 1957. Soon after they purchased their home in Bridgeland and have resided there till Adolf's Heavenly call. Adolf was predeceased by his mother Margaret in Besarabia, his father Jacob in Stettler, AB, sisters, Matilda, Olga and Marie in Germany, and his brothers, Alexander and John in Calgary. FERGUSON -- Daphne passed away at her residence after a lengthy illness, on Thursday, December 18, 1997. Daphne will be lovingly remembered by her husband John; and by her cousins, Evelyn Allan of Scotland, and Bill Burnett and his wife Nanette of Australia. Daphne possessed a true love of gardening which she enjoyed her entire life. She was a member of the Naomi Rebekah Lodge No. 12 and enjoyed her many lodge activities. Another of Daphne's joys was the knitting of sweaters, knee laps, and various other items which she generously and lovingly made for the enjoyment of others. Daphne will be missed by all who knew her. HERANDEZ -- Estela Ruano Herandez (formerly Stasha Stella Reed) passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on December 18, 1997 after a long and very painful battle with lung cancer at the age of 74 years. Stasha was born in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, England on April 29, 1923 and moved to Canada after the Second World War. Stasha served in the Women's Royal Army Corp. during the war. She was in the same unit as H.R.H. Princess Elizabeth, now H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth II. Stasha loved life and enjoyed it to the full even up to ten days before her death. She was associated with St. Philip's Anglican Church and has a great many friends there, especially the children of the Sunday School whom she loved dearly. Also, she had many friends at the Francis Klein Seniors Apartments, where she spent the last fifteen months of her life. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Lachy, his family and their many friends in Cuba; Donna Grieves, her personal caregiver for nine years and husband Garry; as well as her many friends in Calgary, Edmonton and elsewhere in Canada and Europe. KERBES -- Helen. It with great sadness that we announce that after a courageous fight against cancer, Helen Berneice Kerbes died on Monday, October 22, 1997 at the age of 61. She is survived by her partner in life, husband Jim; her daughter Janice (Rex); Helen's two sons, James (Kamala), John (Bernadette); her eight grandchildren, Rex Jr., Nathan, Rylan, James, Stephanie, Jalina, Kimberly and Jennifer; two brothers, Bill and Howard Muhlback; three sisters, Doris Hennel, Ruth Kromm, Ruby Jolly and families. She was predeceased by her parents, Fredrick and Kathryn Muhlback, and her second born son Ronald Wayne of twenty-eight years. Helen achieved success; she laughed often and loved much. She had the respect of people and the love of children. She filled our hearts with love and our souls with music. She has left the world better than she found it. Helen looked for the best in others and gave the best she had. Her strength through difficulties was an inspiration. She loved us with all her heart. We were blessed each and every day and we loved her for all of that. Cremation has taken place. It was Helen's request to have a private family Service, but she has asked us on her behalf to say good-bye to her wonderful neighbors and friends. Throughout the years, you meant a lot to her.
