Coghill, Marjorie Tuesday, 23 Sep 2003
Passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 23 at age 82, after many years of suffering with debilitating arthritis, with never a complaint, and always a cheery word and smile for all around her. Marjorie was lovingly nursed throughout those years by her devoted sister Betty Mielke, with much appreciated assistance from the D.V.A., the South Cariboo Home Support Nurses, District Nurses and Doctor R. Nicolson. Marjorie was born in Scotland, June 13, 1921. She served in the British Army from 1940 through 1945, and immigrated to Vancouver, B.C. in 1954, then joined her sister Betty and husband Bill (deceased 1997) in the Cariboo in 1958, where Marjorie worked for the 100 Mile Herald, and then Ainsworth Lumber. In 1992 they all retired from ranching and moved into 100 Mile House. Marjorie leaves behind many good friends from around the world and is survived by her devoted sister Elizabeth (Betty) Mielke; her loving half-sister Jessie, Scotland; half brothers George, Canada; Sandy, Scotland; and step sisters Rose and Louise. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated. No service by request. Sadly missed - with everlasting memories.

Francis brought her energy, enthusiasm and joy of life to 100 Mile House, and McBride B.C. before coming to Prince Rupert in 2001. Francis was a very intelligent little girl who loved to learn new things and was always eager to face the opportunity to take on a new challenge. She loved sports and enjoyed the time she spent with her Dad curling, golfing, playing soccer and getting involved for the first time with her latest passion, hockey. She will always be treasured by her Father, Bob Loeppky; Mother, Dorothy Wharton and her darling little Brother, Jonathan. She will also be dearly missed
by her Grandpa Wilf, her Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and her many friends, team members and classmates. The Family is overwhelmed by the support and compassion that has been shown by the Community of Prince Rupert during this very difficult time. They would like to extend their deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all that knew and loved Francis and to those that have shared the pain through the understanding of the loss of their precious angel.

We are saddened to announce that Dick left us on Sept. 14 at 100 Mile House, B.C. Dick passed quietly in his sleep after a lengthy and heroic battle with cancer. Dick was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on July 8, 1936. He was a selfless and generous man, who spent his life in the service of his family, and of the communities that he was proud to be a member of. Dick spent much of his formative and early adult years in the Invermere area, where he worked in the family logging business, as well as serving with the Kinsmen Club. He then trekked west to Vancouver, where he started a family and spent many years working with Wetroc Industries. In 1974, the family moved to Lac la Hache, B.C., where Dick would go on to serve as president of the community club. Returning to Vancouver, Dick became an accomplished and respected member of the film industry, building set pieces for many of the major film projects undertaken in B.C. Upon retirement, he and Carole returned to the Cariboo to the place they considered 'home'. Dick enjoyed flying his stunt kites, curling and travel, a love that would take him and his family across much of North America. Dick was predeceased by his father Gordon and mother Vi. Dick was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather to a family whom he loved very much, and who cherished his love and companionship. Dick is survived by brothers David (Janita), Gary (Edith), Greg (Shari) and Bob; his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Carole; son Scott (Cyndy) and daughter Heather (Ed) as well as his grandchildren whom he loved and who loved him very much, Logan and Racheal; all of whom will miss his special presence in their lives. He touched so many people in such a truly special way, that he will be sadly missed, and remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched. We will remember his smile, his laugh, and his dedication and love for his family, and his friends. There will be a Celebration of Life held at 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2003 at the Creekside Seniors Centre in 100 Mile House. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society to continue the battle that Dick fought so valiantly.

Annie Tomkulak (Buchanan) passed away in her sleep at Burnaby General Hospital on Sept. 11, 2003. Born Jan. 2, 1910 in Vancouver, B.C. Lived in the 100 Mile House/Bridge Lake area before moving back to Burnaby in 1991. Mom lived a good life and is remembered by friends and relatives: brother Richard Buchanan; sister Evelyn Colter; five children, Barry, Phillip, Pauline, Carl and Alvin; stepson Clifford; numerous grandchildren including Lee Tomkulak of 108 Mile and good friend Jo Sedlar of Bridge Lake, B.C. Helen passed away peacefully at Mill Site Lodge on Sept. 7, 2003. Earlier she had lived at White-horse Lake, Lac la Hache for 35 years. Helen was predeceased by her husband George, and leaves her family in Ontario; brother Stan Bryson, Oakville; sister-in-law Kaye Bryson, Grimsby; nephews Murray Bryson (Carol), Winnipeg, Man.; Paul (Debbie) Bryson and niece Laurie Bryson; also many friends in Vancouver, Ontario and the Cariboo area. She was born in Barrie, Ont. where her family operated a confectionery, then the Bryson Tearoom. She trained as a nurse in Toronto and served as a nursing sister in the RCAF overseas. Following WWII, she entered graduate studies at McGill University, Montreal, Que. and later taught there. Helen went overseas again as an RCAF nursing sister in 1953 and was Matron in charge of the 3 Wing Hospital, Zweibrucken, Germany. She met and married George there. They travelled extensively in Western Europe, returning to Vancouver in 1957. After George retired from the RCAF, he operated a survival training course for the military at Jarvis Lake, Alta. Helen continued private nursing in Edmonton and Vancouver before they moved to Lac la Hache. Helen became a potter, weaver and spinner and in 1983 opened "Craft Cottage" which she operated for many years. She requested cremation, no service and her ashes will be sent to Ontario to be with her family. PEACE - ALWAYS

Bud (Iver) Edall passed away Thurs., Sept. 4, 2003. He is survived by his wife Eileen; son Michael (Janet), Okanagan Falls, B.C.; daughter Ann Robson, Airdrie, Alta.; brother Lute (Loreen), Rock Creek, B.C.; sisters Muriel Reinertson, Quesnel, B.C. and Arie Platz, North Battleford, Sask.; grandsons Gordon Edall (Jeri), Toronto, Ont. and Brian Edall (Michelle) and great grandson Gavin of Kelowna, B.C.; granddaughters Dana Robson, Calgary, Alta. and Tanis Robson, Airdrie. Bud was born February 5, 1920 at Forestburg, Alta. His family came to B.C. by covered wagon to homestead at Sheridan Lake in 1922. They later homesteaded at 90 Mile. Bud served in the Armed Forces overseas during World War II, where he met Eileen. They lived at 90 Mile and Lone Butte and finally at 96 Mile for the past 35 years. Bud loved to hunt and spend time in the outdoors. He will be missed by all who knew him. Donations in Bud's name can be made to the 100 Mile District General Hospital.
