KEMBEL, Archie Oliver
November 23, 1929 to November 10, 2009

Born in Luseland, Saskatchewan to parents Alexander and Minnie Kembel. Archie was the middle child in a very large family.

Archie will be dearly missed by his three children and their spouses; Gary(Heather), Don(Phyllis), Joanne(Howard) and their children.

In 1951 Archie met Shirley on a double date. They married June 18, 1952 and were blessed with twin boys Gary and Donald, who were born in 1956. The family moved to The Pas, Manitoba in 1960 where Dad worked on the Canadian National Railroad. In 1963, Joanne was born. Ever busy, he also had businesses in addition to the railroad and his biggest project was as an apiarist. He had hundreds of hives and he supplied much of the town with honey. Archie loved to ride horses and owned a few over the years in The Pas.

Archie transferred with the CNR to Kamloops in 1975. There, he took up a second business installing underground piping and, in his spare time, he built and flew model airplanes. Somewhere along the line, he took up golf and became an avid golfer. Over the more recent years, he has three times achieved a hole-in-one!

Archie retired from the CNR in 1988, and together with Shirley and her mother, enjoyed many trips in their RV and long summer days by their backyard pool, often with visiting grandchildren Derek, Karen and Alex (Donald); Graeme and Evelyn (Gary); and, Hannah and Emily (Joanne). Archie was a loving and proud father and grandfather. We will all miss him dearly. Shirley died July 20, 2009 and Archie’s heart was broken without her. We are certain he is now at peace. Donations to Royal Inland Hospital or the Canadian Lung Association.
