Roger Donald Joseph MacPherson
March 18, 1939 - May 10, 2010

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the family of Roger MacPherson announces his sudden passing on May 10, 2010 at the age of 71.

Roger was born in 1939 in Edmonton, Alberta to Angus and Winnifred MacPherson who settled in the St. Brides, Alberta area after they immigrated from Scotland and Ireland respectively in 1927. Roger is the eldest brother of four, survived by his brother Russell (Pat) MacPherson and his sister Shirley (Bill) Garnier. His family camped in the summer seasons to be near him as he helped build roads into new towns or create new wetland areas for protected wildlife. He was a participant in the rescue operation for the Grand Duke Mine disaster in 1964 and fondly remembers being able to pull out a survivor buried deep in the snow with his equipment.

In 1966, Roger married Shirley Morin of Progress, BC and raised three children over their 43 years together. Darren and his wife Breonna and daughter Keely live in Vernon, BC. Darcy and his wife Mandy live in Calgary, AB with their sons Jack and Charlie. His daughter Heather lives with her husband Jason McKeown and their three sons Aiden, Duncan and Roan in Airdrie, AB.
