Ruby Dramstad
August 24, 1926 - December 24, 2012

After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby Dramstad of Kamloops, BC, on December 24th, 2012, at 86 years of age.

Ruby is survived by her three children Ronald (Janette) Dramstad of Mission, BC, Lorna (Andrew) Hutchinson of Kamloops, BC and Ted Dramstad of Kamloops, BC and her three grandchildren, Christine and Kathryn Hutchinson and Ethan Dramstad. Ruby is also survived by her sisters Lil Manzer and Pearl Worthing and numerous nieces and nephews who each held a special place in her heart.

Ruby is predeceased by her husband Jules Dramstad and sisters Violet Orr and Nancy Gill, brothers Bill Walker and Art Walker and her parents Harry and Violet Walker.

Ruby was a Nurses Aide at Tranquille TB Hospital where she met Jules. They married in 1957 and moved from the residence at Tranquille to Kamloops where they raised their three children and lived life to the fullest. After raising her children Ruby returned to work at the Ponderosa Lodge as a Nurses Aide where she cared for seniors and those who needed help in life.

After Jules passed away, Ruby moved into the assisted living apartments a The Hamlets at Westsyde and made many life long friends.

Ruby returned to Ponderosa Lodge at the age of 86 but this time as a patient where the staff of the 1st floor cared for her until she passed away.

Ruby’s children would like to thank family and friends who were always there for her and the staff of the 1st floor at Ponderosa Lodge for the care, love and respect given to Ruby.

God bless you mom, your family and friends will miss you and your memory will live on in our heats forever.

A Celebration of Ruby’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Kamloops Funeral Home.

Sharon Williams
December 4, 1946 - April 26, 2012

With sadness, the family of Sharon Williams (nee Granger) announces her sudden passing on April 26, 2012.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Cindy, April, James, Dan, Trent. Her brothers, Roger (Jackie) and Dan, Her sisters Heather, Melody, and Maureen. Her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Sharon was a long time member of the Anavets 290, and a avid dart player.

The family would like to invite you to join us in a celebration of Sharon's life

that will be held at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

John Douglas “Doug” Cryderman
December 19, 1945 - April 23, 2012

John Douglas (Doug) Cryderman of Kamloops, BC passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the age of 66 years old.

Doug is survived by his loving children Tara and Trevor; brother Gordon (Kim) Cryderman of Chilliwack, BC; and nephews Michael, Jason and Daniel Cryderman.

He is predeceased by his wife Caryl Cryderman, and by his parents Ronald and Gwen Cryderman.

Doug and his family moved to Kamloops in 1989, where he pursued his career in the helicopter industry, a career that spanned over 30 years. Doug had a passion for classic cars and was a member of the Kamloops Street Rod Association for many years. He was especially fond of his 1940 Ford Coupe and his 1965 Mustang convertible, which he rebuilt and customized himself. Doug will be also remembered for keeping the sidewalks and green spaces clean of litter in his neighborhood of Summit and Robson.

The family would like to thank Tracey Burge and everyone who watched out for him over the years. Also thank you to all of the staff and nurses at the Overlander and at the Kamloops Seniors Village for their continued caring and compassion.

A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Hills of Peace Lutheran Church, 695 Robson Drive, with Pastor Brian Krushel officiating.

Donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Hills of Peace Lutheran Church, if friends so desire. Flowers gratefully declined.

Mariette Brenholen
September 16, 1938 - April 20, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mariette Brenholen at the age of 73 on April 20, 2012.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Lawrence, children Mark, Christian, Chantell, Matthias and Aaron. She is also survived by five brothers, three sisters and 11 grandchildren.

Prayers will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 635 Tranquille Road.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Reverend Father Peter Hoan Nguyen, Celebrant.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Kamloops Pro-Life Society or Society of the Little Flower.

Garnet Frederick Jennings
January 8, 1962 - April 16, 2012

Garnet Frederick Jennings was born on January 8th, 1962 and passed away peacefully on April 16, 2012 at 50 years of age.

He is survived by his loving wife Lorrie of 30 years, mother Bettie Amundson, Craig (Laura) Jennings, Adam, Isaac, and Aiden, Gordon (Yvonne), Loreen (George) Maloy, Eric (Sandy) Jennings, Paul (Shannon) Gilmour, Steve (Kim), and Lisa. parents in-law Ray and Irene Young, John, and Cindy.

Garnet was predeceased by his father, Douglas Jennings.

We were all blessed to know and love Garnet. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21st, 2012, at Summit Drive Baptist Church, 1975 Summit Drive, Kamloops, BC with Pastor Harry Bicknell officiating.

Now Garnet is safe in the arms of Jesus.

Garnet’s family wishes to express their gratitude for your support, prayers, condolences, and presence at the Memorial Service.

Patricia Ann Embleton
September 2, 1939 - April 16, 2012

Patricia Embleton of Kamloops passed away on April 16, 2012 at 72 years of age. She is survived and will be missed by her loving husband Nick Verloop, children Susan (Bob) Christie of North Vancouver, Debbie Robson of Kelowna, Linda Bain of Victoria, Michelle Embleton of Vernon, Trevor Embleton of Vernon, sisters Diane (Rod) Johnson and Suzanne (Ian) Turner.

Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping and fishing but most of her time was spent devoted to the Veterans Clubs of Kamloops. Her greatest love was helping people. She will be missed by many. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Moose Lodge, 730 Cottonwood Ave at 1:00 p.m

Colin Winston Day
September 4th, 1941 – April 13th, 2012

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Colin Day, of Kamloops BC. Colin passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He is survived by his devoted, loving wife, Bev of 48 years, his children Sheri-Lynn (Glen), and Craig (Sharla) and his grandsons; Gavin, Carsen and Jackson, as well as nieces, nephews and too many friends to mention. Colin is predeceased by his parents Cyril and Margaret Day and his brother Bert.

Colin was born in Kamloops, and graduated from KSS in 1959. He married Bev and they raised two wonderful children he was very proud of. Colin worked in the family business, Kamloops Bottling Works for over 30 years and later had other business ventures.

Over his lifetime, he was devoted to many charities and organizations, “Mr. Community Service”, active in the Rube band, president of the Wildlife Park for 25 years, active member of the Jaycees for over 20 years, TRU sports taskforce for 30 years, and volunteer president of the Kamloops Blazers for 15 years. He loved reading, movies, hockey, golf, skiing and travelling.

Colin was a man of honor and integrity, who always put his family first. Anyone who knew him knew he had a wonderful way of making people laugh with his witty sense of humor and practical jokes. He was at his happiest in the backyard, entertaining by the pool. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Our sincere thanks to the wonderful nursing care that was given to him in ICU and 7-North. At Colin’s request there will be no formal service, but a celebration of his life. Please join his family on Friday April 20th at 3pm. TRU: Grand Hall.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Colin can be made to the RIH foundation or the TRU foundation.

Elizabeth (Elsie) Mary Woodd
September 4, 1921 - April 8, 2012

Elsie was born in Erpatak, Hungary and came to Canada at 3 years of age.

Survived by her nine children: Jim Valachy of Sorrento, Betty Aspeslet of Kamloops, Mary McMurray of Kamloops, Ron Woodd of Ottawa, Don (Karen) Woodd of Calgary, Bonnie (Lorne) Dunn of Kamloops, Connie (Ray) Bonner of Cobble Hill, Len (Irene) Woodd of Kamloops, Debbie Woodd of Kamloops. Predeceased by her husbands, Michael in 1949 and Alfred in 1991. Elsie was matriarch of 5 generations, and is survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

A service and tribute will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday April 21, 2012 at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, BC.

Flowers at the service are welcome or a donation to the Alzheimer's Society.

Interment at Hillside Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 23, 2012, for all family members wishing to attend.

We miss you mom, it gives us comfort you are with dad and can stroll through your garden together forever.

Robert Arthur McQuay
May 12, 1922 – April 3, 2012

Bob passed away peacefully after a short stay in hospital just shy of his 90th birthday.

Survived by his beloved Ines of 61 years; son Donald; daughter Shelley (Chris) Roerslev: grandchildren, Codie and Colter McQuay; Alysha, Liam and Joshua Roerslev; close family Iris Rich and Jesse Philips.

Bob is the last of his family, predeceased by his parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers and his grandson Chanse McQuay.

Bob was born in Dauphin, Manitoba spending his early life in Winnipeg prior to joining the Merchant Marine Navy in which he served 3 years during the 2nd World War. This brought him to Vancouver where he began his 37 year career with the CP Railway, signing out in Kamloops in 1982.

Bob enjoyed a full life; hunting, fishing, reading, playing bridge, golfing, enjoying his family, especially his grandchildren.

The family expresses a Thank you to the excellent staff on 5 North, with a special thank you to Dr. Chip Bantock who has cared for Bob for many years.

A Memorial Prayer Service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 635 Tranquille Road, Friday April 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with Father Peter Hoan Nguyen officiating.

In lieu of flowers and if friends desire, donations to TRU-A-Mother’s Chanse Bursary or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Bob’s memory would be appreciated.
