VANDERHAM, ERIC - Friday, 04 Apr 2003
Eric Vanderham of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away suddenly on April 4, 2003 at 11 a. m. at the age of 38 years.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Paula and his beautiful children Joshua (3) and Samantha (1 1/2); his parents Andy and Helen and his sister Esther and her husband Bill Fietje and their children Michelle and Vanessa.
His generosity of spirit was well known to his family and many dear friends. His sense of humour and optimism will be remembered by all who knew him.
Eric's life was a testimony to his faith in God
"I have set the Lord always before me
Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken
Therefore my heart is glad
And my tongue rejoices
My body will also rest secure
You have made known to me
The path of life
you will fill me with joy
in your presence".
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 8th from 7:00 p. m. - 9:00 p. m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 9th at 11:00 a. m. at Musselwhite Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Mountain Park Community Church at 1:00 p. m.
In lieu of flowers we would request a donation made to one of the many organizations that Eric assisted in his lifetime:

RIPPIN, ARTHUR "BUD" - Friday, 04 Apr 2003
On April 4, 2003, Arthur "Bud" Rippin, formerly of Widewater, Alberta, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the presence of his loved ones at Abbotsford, B.C. at the age of 90.
Born October 21, 1912, Bud was the fifth of six children born to Sarah and Arthur Rippin in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. He is survived by Helen, his loving wife of 64 years; sons Blair (Grace) and Fred (Carol); four grandchildren; Karla, Roderick, Lori and Randy; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Christine Rippin and Helen Farrell and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings; Olive (Chester) Johnson, Della (Ed) Poff, Gladys (Howard) Logan, Jim Rippin and Norman Rippin.
Special thanks to the staff of Maplewood House for the care and kindness given to Bud over the past several months.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p. m. on Friday, April 11, 2003 at Henderson's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.

SIEG, GERI (GERALDINE) - Thursday, 03 Apr 2003
Geri (Geraldine) Kathleen Sieg gently passed on the evening of April 3, 2003 at the age of 60. She is held in the hearts of her husband Wilson, daughter Kerri, son Rod, daughter-in-law Sue, grandsons Jeremy & Ryan, sisters Gail & Darlene, brother Harvey, niece Trish, extended family and friends.
Those who Geri loved and loved her are invited to join her family on Saturday, April 12, 2003 p. m. at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, 32840 Janzen Avenue, Mission, to honour Geri and share the sorrow and joy of her passing.

KNIGHT, CADE - Thursday, 03 Apr 2003
Cade was born September 5, 2002 in Abbotsford, B.C. to Steve and Brenda Knight. He passed into the presence of Jesus in the early hours of April 3, 2003 while his mother held him in her arms.
Cade was a healthy 9 lbs. 7. 5 oz. when he was born, however two days after his birth this dear little fellow had still not had a bowel movement.
Cade was transferred to Children's Hospital in Vancouver. Cade was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and over the next seven months underwent four major surgeries, many procedures, and dozens of radiology studies to get his system working. All was in vain.
Cade leaves behind his Mom and Dad, Steve and Brenda Knight, three sisters, Makiah (6), Nyrie (4), and Reagen (3), as well as grandparents Glen and Clara Knight of Saanich, B.C. and Sam and Grace Schartner of Abbotsford, B.C.
Speical thanks to the Medical team at Children's Hospital and to all who have prayed and offered support for Cade and the family during these trying months.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 11, 2003 at 1:30 p. m. at Northview Community Church, 32040 Downes Road, Abbotsford, with Rev. Scott Fortnum officiating the service. Anyone interested in viewing can do so prior to the service.

GORDEY, IRENE - Wednesday, 02 Apr 2003
Mrs. Irene Gordey late of Abbotsford passed away on April 2, 2003 at the age of 91 years at Menno Hospital.
She is survived by one daughter Lucille Karadontis, 2 sons Albert (Marjorie) Smith and Ron Smith, 2 brothers Jack (Irene) Cook and Bud Cook, 2 grandchildren Paul Smith and Dianna Rollick and 3 great-grand nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her three husbands; Ted, Sam and George.
Irene will be missed at Christmas, Easter and other holidays for her great cooking and hospitality. She worked in Abbotsford from 1960 - 1972 as a short order cook and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Cremation was held at Valley Crematorium. A Memorial service will follow at a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Irene Gordey, if so desired.

VEER, BERNHARD - Saturday, 29 Mar 2003
Bernhard Veer, born January 13, 1918 went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2003. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, June 24, 1998.
Bernhard is survived by sons, Ernie (Susamme), Allan (Gloria); daughter Lorna (John); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for being faithful to his commitment to God.
There will be a Graveside Service with a viewing at 10:00 a. m. Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Maclure Road Cemetery with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a. m. at Ross Road Community Church, 3160 Ross Road, Abbotsford.

WIEBE, DORA - Saturday, 29 Mar 2003
Dora, beloved wife of Peter Wiebe of Abbotsford, passed suddenly into the presence of her Lord on March 29, 2003 at the MSA Hospital at age 80.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 58 years Peter, sister Tina Neufeld (Henry) of Altona, Manitoba, Godchild Iris Parker (Colin) of Edmonton, AB, and numerous relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 3rd from 7:00 - 9:00 p. m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. A Graveside committal service will be held at Maclure Road Cemetery on Friday, April 4th at 12:30 p. m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p. m. in Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, B.C., 200 - 1645 West 7th Ave., Vancouver, B.C. or your favorite charity would be appreciated.

RASMUS, DAVID G. - Thursday, 27 Mar 2003
David G. Rasmus, born in Mission March 16, 1948, passed away peacefully March 27, 2003, in his home in Trail, after a courageous fight with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Kristy & Andrea, parents George & Ella, brothers Ken (Holly), Bob (Peggy), Stan (Martina) & Victor, sisters Carole (Bill) & Jeanne, also many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Cameron, Oct. 2001.
A memorial service was held at his Middle School Gym, March 31, 2003, where his nephew Rev. Bill Rasmus officiated. In his memory donations to the Foster Childrens Plan or Canadian Red Cross (Iraqi Relief Fund) would be appreciated.

KIMBALL, VERNA - Tuesday, 25 Mar 2003
Mrs. Verna June Kimball, late of Abbotsford, passed away on March 25th, 2003 at the age of 84 years, at MSA Hospital.
She is survived by her loving family; daughters Pam (Brent) and Patti (Ric) of Abbotsford; sons Bob (Ruby) of Ajax, Ontario, Bill of Regina, SK and Barry (Jan) of St. Albert, AB; 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband and partner for life, Vince (1997), her parents, brothers and dear sister Donna (1959).
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 29th, 2003 at 3:00 p. m. from St. Ann's RC Church at 33333 Mayfair Ave. with Father Tien Tran officiating.
Cremation will be held at Valley Crematorium. Donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.

Abraham A. Hiebert late of Tabor Home, Abbotsford, passed into the presence of the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2003 at the age of 94.
He was predeceased by his wife Anna in 1997. He is survived by three daughters; Jessie (Mel) Sawatzky, Edith (Walter) Weins of Abbotsford, Irma (Dwayne) Barkman of Saskatoon. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren. Longer obituary in next Thursday, March 6th paper when funeral arrangements have been finalized.

BENS, JOHN ANTON (TONY) - Saturday, 22 Feb 2003
It is with deep sadness that we mourn the sudden loss of our husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan July 7, 1920. Passed away peacefully on February 22, 2003.
Tony grew up in Cudworth and lived on the family farm until 1941. He enlisted with the RCAF and served overseas until January 1945. He married Betty Bens, his wife of 57 years on November 15, 1945.
They lived in Cudworth, moving to Morinville, Alberta in 1946 and to British Columbia in 1956. He is predeceased by his son Ken in 1971.
Left to mourn and to carry his memory with love are his wife, Betty, and 4 children; Elaine Ivancic, Shirley Bens, Marilynn (Ken) Montgomery, and Gary Bens; 5 granchildren; Tania Ivancic, Tony (Tracy) Ivancic, Lisa Ingram, Rhonda Montgomery, Jessica Bens; 4 great grandchildren; Amanda and John Ivancic, Karleigh and Austin Ingram; 3 sisters; Martha Bens, rosa Muyard, and Catherine Jungwirth and 1 brother; Joe Bens.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to Canadian Food for Children, 3218 - 224th St., Langley, B.C., V2Z 2G8.
Requiem Mass: Thursday, February 27th at 11:00 a. m. with reception following at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Avenue, Abbotsford, B.C.
