ATKINS - Jean, died August 13, 1997 aged 77, after a valiant battle following a stroke last October. Predeceased by her husband Harry. Survived by her two sons Brent (Diana), Barry (Deana); daughter Dale (Herman) Kroetlinger; five grandchildren, as well as many friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 1997 at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, 1135-3rd Street, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

CORNBOROUGH - Winnifred Ellen, born June 6, 1920, lived her life in North Vancouver. Passed away on August 14, 1997 at Cedar View Lodge. She has left to join her beloved husband Gordon. Predeceased by her brother Frank Davis. She is survived by her loving children, son Miles (Linda) Cornborough; daughters Vicki (Norm) Escott, Wendy (George) Koch; seven grandchildren Robert (Helen) Cornborough, Cheryl (Scott) Penwiel, Brent, Tammi, Brad Escott, Mollie, Andrew Koch; and 11 great grandchildren. Also sister Mary Taylor and many friends. Funeral Service to be held Tuesday, August 19, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver.
We love you Mom.

CRAMPTON - Rose-Anna passed away, age 71 on August 11, 1997. Predeceased by her husband Keith. Survived by her four children, Dan, Altamont, Manitoba; Debby (Doug), Richmond; Colleen (Paul), Squamish; Tracey (Jason) New Westminster. And four grandchildren, Sarah, James, Dillon and Ryker. A memorial service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 18th at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver.

DALGARNO - Roy Douglas born in Aberdeen, Scotland, November 10, 1921, passed peacefully August 12, 1997 at Lions Gate Hospital. Beloved husband of Eleanor (Ellie); loving father to Brian (Phyllis) and Michael; grandad to Tracey (Don) and Richard (Jennifer); great-grandad to little Devon Jean. In Scotland, sister Heather (Jim) and family; brother David (Norma) and family. In England, niece Eleanor and nephews Geoffrey, Malcolm and Donald and their families. Cousins in Canada and Great Britain. Roy was a long time member of Silver Harbour Seniors Centre and choir, and a past member of the choir at Kennedy House in Delta. A tea will be held at Silver Harbour, 144 East 22nd Street, North Vancouver on Sunday, August 24, 1997 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. for family and friends to remember Roy. No flowers by request. Donations to M.S. Society or Silver Harbour Seniors Centre.

McLEAN - Eileen Louise (nee West) died on August 12, 1997. She was born July 6, 1915 at Rivers, Manitoba, spent her childhood in Innisfail, Alberta and her early marriage years in Kitchener, Ontario, before moving with her husband Dr. Clifford McLean to the West Coast. Eileen started her career as a registered nurse in 1936, after graduating from the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Her long and successful career included many years as a Head Nurse in St. Paul's Open Heart Surgery Programme, and prior to retirement, as the Operating Room Supervisor at Shaughnessy Hospital. She survived her husband Cliff and their two children, Bonnie and John and is survived by her sister Betty and many close relatives and friends. We will celebrate Eileen's life at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, and afterwards at her apartment. Her indomitable spirit triumphed, despite the pain and disability of her last few years.
Eileen, we will miss you.

ARNOTT - Kathleen Louise passed away on July 31, 1997 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her beloved husband Fred and son Angus. She will be greatly missed by son Michael; daughters-in-law Boodie and Billie; grandchildren Shawn, Glenda, Steven, Erin and Kevin; and great-grandchildren Meghan, Caitlin, Shane, Cheyann and Alex. Sincere gratitude to the compassionate and caring nurses and staff at the Kiwanis Lodge in West Vancouver. At Mom's request there will be no flowers or service.

COX - Helen Althea (nee Chambers) passed away suddenly on August 3, 1997 at the age of 82. Born in Vancouver, Helen is survived by her loving husband James William of 61 years, her daughter Dianne (Walter) Talbot and son James Raymond (Glenda) Cox and two grandchildren, James and Shawna. No service by her request. The family will be holding a "Celebration of Life", Friday, August 8th, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at her daughter's home at 453 West 27th Street, North Vancouver. Friends and family please attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory to the Lupus Association of B.C., 895 West 10th Street, Vancouver, B.C.

GIRKE - Klaus Peter Ludwig, born on July 8, 1936 in Goerlitz, Germany. Passed away peacefully on August 3, 1997 at Lions Gate Hospital, after a fierce battle with cancer. In loving memory from Tamara, Nikola, Inge, his many friends and his family in Germany. Funeral Service, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7th at St. Mark's EvangelicaL Lutheran Church, 1573 East 18th Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations in Klaus' memory can be made to B.C. Cancer Society.

MILLS - Bessie, July 31, 1997 in her 87th year. Predeceased by husband Bernard, sisters Jean and Ann. Survived by sister Florence, son Bernard and daughter Marilyn.
Memorial service at Tsawwassen United Church, 693 53rd Street, Thursday, August 14th at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Evergreen House.

THORSTEINSON - Marno "Rex", passed away August 2, 1997 at the age of 32. Survived by his wife Janice (nee Davison); sons Daniel and Andrew; his mother Helen Thorsteinson; brothers Mark Metcalfe and Peter Metcalfe. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 6, 1997, 7:00 p.m. at Lynn Valley United Church, 3201 Mountain Highway, North Vancouver. GILLIES - Gordon Drummond, January 10, 1929 through August 4, 1997, peacefully at Ruby Lake, B.C. The Lord took Gordon into his arms. Gord will be forever missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Evelyn; his children Howard (Diana), Cathy (Peter), Greg (Karen); his brother Norm (Anita); sister-in-law Eileen; brother-in-law Frank (Cathy) and sister-in-law Doreen. "Papa" also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Courtney, Samantha, Cameron, Michael and Sid. "Gunga Din Dad." Service will be at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 1997. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation or Children's Hospital would be appreciated.

HUESTIS - Mary Elizabeth died at Inglewood Care Centre in her 91st year on Sunday, August 3, 1997. Wife of the late Colonel R. Douglas Huestis. She is survived by his children Dr. Douglas W. Huestis, Peggy Huestis Kearns and Joan Huestis Foster. No services. The kind and thoughtful care given by the Inglewood staff has been incredible and simply can not be overstated.

MARKHAM - Netta passed away peacefully on August 5, 1997 in Chilliwack Hospital. Her family and friends are devasted by the loss. We will miss her forever. A funeral service will be held in Lynn Valley Full Gospel Church, at 29th and Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver at 12:00 noon, Monday, August 11th. In Netta's memory the family wish to place a bench on the waterfront at Harrison Hot Springs. Friends wishing to participate in this memorial, please forward donations to: Pastor Owen Scott at Lynn Valley Full Gospel Church, 1160 East 29th Street, North Vancouver, B.C., V7K lC2, payable to "Netta Markham Memorial Fund". Netta gave this her blessing.

MARTIN - Lia Merri-Jean, April 4, 1972 - July 16, 1997. Raised in 100 Mile House, B.C. Resided in North Vancouver for five years. Survived by parents Doug and Andrea of 100 Mile, birth brother Eric Rutherford of White Rock, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Donations in Lia's memory to go to B.C. Schizophrenia Society.

McARTHUR - James (Jim), died July 13, 1997 in Lions Gate Hospital. Survived by his daughter Barbara (Bryan) Reid; grandson Doug (Gillian) in Newfoundland; granddaughter Michele (Jeff) Jarrett; great-grandchildren Joshua, Greg, Allyson, Kaitlyn all of Newfoundland. Graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery, off 41st Avenue, Monday, August 11th at 3:00 p.m. No flowers by request.

AITCHISON - Alexander. July 25, 1997, in Lions Gate Hospital, after a lengthy bout with pulmonary fibrosis. Predeceased by his beloved wife Grace (Ferguson) of West Vancouver. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, 1931, he came to Montreal in 1955 and later to Vancouver's North Shore. Alex was a generous donor to Lions Gate Hospital and the Cancer Society among other charities. He will be missed by family in the U.S., Gail, Bill, and other friends. Funeral was conducted by Reverend Alan Pope, July 29. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Lung Association would be appreciated.

DOBBIN - L.C. (Nancy). Passed away suddenly July 18, 1997. Predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Dobbin of West Vancouver. Survived by relatives in eastern Canada and the U.S.A., as well as by many friends. Service of remembrance to be held, 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 1997 at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, B.C.

BELL-IRVING - Nancy Isobel. Retired peacefully on July 24, 1997 at Lions Gate Hospital. Predeceased by her son Donald Reginald (1992). Devoted wife and companion to Henry Pybus "Budge", her husband for 60 years. Beloved mother to Hal (Susan) and Roderick (Alison); mother-in-law to Ellen (Donald); and grandmother to Miriam, David, Stephen, Neil, Ali and Charlotte. Beloved "A7" overseas, Nancy touched so many lives and will be remembered by all for her kindness, generosity, selflessness and deep concern for the needs of others. A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 29, 1997 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 1130 Jervis St, Vancouver. Reception followed at the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, 1650 Burrard St, Vancouver. FORSHAW - Marjorie E. (nee Williamson). Peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, July 26, 1997, at Lions Gate Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Albert E. Forshaw.
Survived by her children June Sutherland (Bob), Albert (Suzanne), and Robert (Gloria); grandchildren Diana Stephens (Rikk), Robert Sutherland (Maria), Cara Forshaw, Barbara Forshaw, and Ashley Forshaw; great-grandchildren Nikki, Cory and Brendan Stephens, Jessica Forshaw and Natalie Sutherland.
A memorial service will be held at St. Christophers Anglican Church (11th and Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver) on Thursday, July 31, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
