COOK - Allan Alexander. Born September 20, 1957. Passed away suddenly September 28, 1999. Survived by his wife Heather and children Rebecca, Michael and Rachel. Allan was predeceased by his father Alexander, and will be deeply missed by his mother Marilynn, brothers Paul (Patricia), David (Diana), other extended family, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial service to be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 1999 at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Avenue, West Vancouver. MILLER - Olive. Passed away September 18, 1999 at a wonderful age of 83. Predeceased by her loving companion Arne Magnison. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Graham "Dusty" Miller; nieces and nephews Lynda Miller, Robert Miller, Kathryn (Anson) Barrows and Brian (Terri) Miller; great-niece and nephews Shannon and Mike Barrows and Derek Miller; and many friends. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis Towers, 170 W 2nd St, North Vancouver, B.C. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

MULDER - John. Peacefully on September 28, 1999. A longtime resident of North Vancouver, aged 66 years. John is lovingly remembered by his family; wife Mary; his mother Catherine Mulder; five children, Tony (Kathy), George (Gail), Robert (Tammy), Charles (Heather), Maria (Blair). ANDERSEN (Wall) - Gerda. A longtime resident of North Vancouver. Passed away quietly September 30, 1999 at North Shore Private Hospital in her 91st year. Predeceased by her first husband Lars Peter Andersen and second husband Axel Wall. Survived by sons George, Jack, Charles and their families which include eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. On the day of her passing the family welcomed the birth of another great-granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the New Boal chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. CALDWELL - Edith (Dede). In her 85th year, passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on September 29, 1999. A lifelong resident of North Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband Earl in 1983. Survived by her loving sons Bob (Diane), Dave (Suzanne), and sister Dolly. Four grandchildren: Debbie, Brett, Tracy and Kathy and seven great-grandchildren. She will be fondly missed by all her relatives and friends. "The life of the party" may be gone but her spirit always remembered. FLETCHER - Mary. Formerly of West Vancouver. Passed away at the Dufferin Care Centre in Coquitlam on Thursday, September 30, 1999 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her daughter Wendy (Jim) Busby; step-daughter Patricia (George) Chubey; grandchildren Richelle, James, Matthew and Tiffany; 4 great-grandchildren. WITZEL - Dana Anne. Daughter of Karen and Bob, sister of Jason and Scott. Died suddenly in an avalanche in the Bolivian Andes on Saturday, September 25, 1999. Dana, a graduate of West Vancouver High School, lived her life with zest and enthusiasm and will be missed by those she touched. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, 922-1221. MARSH - Beverley. Passed away after a lengthy illness on September 11, 1999. Survived by her loving husband James F, dear friend Vera McLoughlin, her mother Dorothy Chambers, and brother Robert of California. MACLEOD - Margaret Elsie. Born October 4, 1914 in Didsbury, Alberta. Passed away peacefully September 8, 1999. Beloved mother of Lynda Peterson and James MacDonald (Rae Smith), sister of Grace McLeod. She will be greatly missed by many relatives and friends. Margaret was an RN and spent a good part of her life helping others. Private family arrangements have been made. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

WILTSHIRE - Geraldine "Gerry". Died peacefully on Friday, Sept-ember 3, 1999 in North Vancouver. Born March 10, 1911 in Vancouver. Geraldine (Gerry) worked for the Canadian Red Cross during the Second World War and until she retired. She was Past-President of the Business and Professional Women's Club for B.C. and the Yukon. Predeceased by her husband John Charles, and son-in-law Leslie Brooks. Devoted mother to Jean'ne Brooks. Lovingly missed by her grandchildren Nadine (Jay) Carter, Christopher (Linda) Brooks, and great-grandchildren Jason, Shauna and Sydney. Gerry made people happy around her with her sense of humor and friendly smile. She lived in West Vancouver and her passion was her garden which she spent many happy hours working in. Her family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ng and the wonderful and caring staff of 2 West at the Kiwanis Lodge in North Vancouver. No service by Gerry's request.

SHEPHERD - Renee G. Passed away peacefully September 6, 1999 at age 80. She is survived by her three children John (Alison), Mark (Teri) and Michele (Tim), and nine grandchildren. Renee retired from Lions Gate Hospital in 1984 after many years as a nurse. At her request there will be no memorial service. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lynn Valley Lodge.

SUTCLIFFE - LaVane. A longtime resident of West Vancouver. Died quietly in her sleep, on September 11, 1999 at the age of 80, in the Inglewood Care Centre, West Vancouver, B.C. She was born on January 24, 1919 in Prelate, Saskatchewan, grew up in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and lived in Winnipeg and England during the years of the Second World War. She returned to Canada and lived in Victoria for a few years before returning to Vancouver in 1947. She lived in West Vancouver for the past 40 years. LaVane was active in the real estate business on the North Shore until 10 years ago, when she retired.
She will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Marcia Lewis and their children Pamela and Adam of West Vancouver, her sister Margaret Prevo of Florida and many nieces, nephews, devoted friends and former associates.
The family would like to thank the nurses and other caregivers at Inglewood Care Centre for the professional care and extra attention that you gave to LaVane over the past few years.
A memorial service followed by a tea will be held on Friday, September 17, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hollyburn Funeral Home located on Marine Drive at 18th Street in West Vancouver.

McGRATTEN - Maxine Kathryn of West Vancouver. Passed away suddenly September 14, 1999 at Lions Gate Hospital at the age of 83. We will cherish memories of Maxine as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Survived by her two daughters Carolyn (Ron Ash) and Nancy (Murray Ramsden); her four grandchildren Kimberley, Kristen, Bradley and Jeffrey; and her brother Jack Morris. She is now reunited with her loving husband Ross. A memorial service will be held at the First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver on Monday, September 20, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined in favour of donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

MELIS - Abraham (Bram). Born Geleen, Holland on March 29, 1931. Flew away peacefully, September 10, 1999, 4:11 p.m. in his 68th year. Bram fought a courageous battle against cancer in the "room with the revolving door", with his positive outlook, his never ending humour, and shall remain an inspiration to many. In Holland Bram enjoyed playing soccer, he served in the Dutch Navy in the early 1950's in Papua, New Guinea. Upon leaving the Navy Bram served on the Dutch Police Force. In 1962 Bram and his young family emigrated to North Vancouver. In North Van Bram was heavily involved with the Bert Duke Softball League for many years, as well the B.C. Amateur Boxing Assoc. In his later years Bram turned his love of dancing and music towards a longtime involvement with the Hot Jazz Club. Bram worked for Schlage Lock Co., C.A.E. Morse, and for many many happy years for BC Rail until his retirement. Bram is survived, loved, and humorously remembered by his 4 children, Loesje Jacob of Armstrong, B.C., Joanne Emmons of North Vancouver, Sonja Gaudet of Vernon, Paul Melis of North Van and his former wife Johanna Melis. He will always be Opa Op's to his seven grandchildren Emily, Jordan, Mason, Alysha, Colten, Dylan and Jacob. To his many friends, please remember the "Dancing Dutchman" with a chuckle and a smile for his offbeat sense of humour and his style.
For all Bram's family and friends, Memorial Service to be held at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver, Friday, September 17, 1999 at 12:30-1:00 p.m. optional viewing. 1:00 p.m. Ceremony. To follow, in celebration of life, a cocktail party 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Hot Jazz Club, 2120 Main St, Vancouver. WEIR - Audrey Florence Blake (nee Morris). Born September 29, 1915, late of North Vancouver. Passed away at Queen's Park Hospital on Monday, September 13, 1999 at the age of 83. Survived by her loving family; her children John, Patricia (Gerry), Kathleen (George) and Douglas; grandchildren Nathan, Kristy, Michael, Lisa, Melissa and Laura; brother Brian (Marilyn) Morris. COOKE - Ronald. Born August 1, 1922. Passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 1999 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Lovingly missed by Ruby, his wife of 54 years; children Randy (Melodie), Kathy (Tommy), son-in-law Adolf, Mark (Grace); and his brothers Curtis (Helen) and Arthur (Janet). He will always have a special place in his grandchildren's hearts Bobby (Deborah), Jan, Chris, Travis, Reece, Nicholas, Jennifer and Rhett, and great-grandchildren Brandon and Devon. His loss will also touch the many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends in Wales, the United States and Canada. Ron served five years as a Chief Petty Officer in the Canadian Navy during WWII prior to working 40 years with B.C. Packers in Steveston. Ron's enthusiasm for life was shared by his family and friends. Ron touched the hearts of many and the twinkle in his eyes, laughter and sense of humour will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A special thank you to Dr. Ian Morgan, Dr. K. Ping Yui and Terry Symons of the Discovery Sunshine Committee for their care and kindness. A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 1999 at Mount Seymour United Church at 1200 Parkgate Avenue in North Vancouver. HOLL - Ella Rose. Born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England on April 4, 1907. Died peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on Sunday, September 5, 1999 following a stroke. She was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1975. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Michael and Brian, daughter-in-law Marilyn and longtime family friend Bill. For many years she had been an active member of the WISE Club and WISE Glee Singers in Vancouver and a founder-member of the West Vancouver Seniors Centre. By request no memorial service will be held and in lieu of flowers donations should be made to the B.C. Heart Foundation

ROBB - Alex M. Passed away in Lions Gate Hospital on August 21, 1999. Survived by his wife Joyce, daughter Janis (Greg), son Brian, grandsons Chris and Steven, brother Ewen (Bertha).
