NORMAN - Horace Le Verne (Hap). Passed away in the early morning of July 6, 1999 at the age of 82. A longtime resident of North Vancouver, Hap was a familiar figure in lower Lonsdale where he owned and operated Horizon Wood Products. He was a master craftsman and left a legacy of fine woodwork and furniture. A generous man, Hap also left a legacy of strong and lasting friendships. He was saddened recently by the loss of his wife, Mary and eldest son, Steven. He is survived by his brother Ted (May), son Peter (Eileen), grandsons Eli and Matthew, daughter-in-law Marilyn, granddaughters Lita and Kami. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, July 18, 1999 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Canyon House, 3590 Capilano Rd, North Vancouver, B.C.

LUDWIG - Dieter. Passed away peacefully on June 19, 1999 at the age of 71. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Rosa; his children Diana, Harald, Alan; his grandchildren Jennifer, Nicole, Ryan, Adam, Devan, Alexander, Nicholas, Natalie and numerous other friends and relatives. Dieter was born in the Free State of Danzig and raised his family in North Burnaby before retiring to West Vancouver. Dieter enjoyed skiing, loved wildlife and gardening. He will be remembered for his kindness, warmth and admirable principles. Preferring laughter to sadness there will be no service by request. A gathering of family and close friends will take place. We celebrate his life with great love and compassion.

BEVINGTON - Gudrun (nee Langkilde-Lauesen). Peacefully, while surrounded by the love of her family, at Lions Gate Hospital on Sunday, June 27, 1999 following a courageous battle with cancer, fought with the grace and dignity which characterized her life. Survived by her husband Dennis; daughter Katherine; sisters Inger and Grethe; father-in-law Joseph; brothers-in-law David, John, Howard and Joe; sisters-in-law Jean, Susan and Jan; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 1999 in the Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

BUTTS - Kathleen "Kathy" Victoria of West Vancouver passed away peacefully June 26, 1999. Predeceased by her father Victor R. Butts. Will be deeply missed by her mother Patricia Butts; sister Jocelyn Moon; brother-in-law John Moon; fiance Robin Waring along with many other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, on Saturday, July 3, 1999 at 2:00 p.m.

GIBB - Marjorie Campbell (nee Dimock). Peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on Friday, June 25, 1999 in her 95th year. Born December 13, 1904, she was predeceased by her husband Henry David. Loving mother of David (Barbara) and Peter (Drelene), dear grandmother of Myriam, Kalia, Jason and Eric as well as many other relatives and friends. Honorary affiliations with P.E.O. Sisterhood, Canadian Federation of University Women, Canadian College of Teachers and United Empire Loyalist Association of Canada. Memorial service 12:00 noon, June 28, 1999 in the Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. Private interment to follow at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the P.E.O. Sisterhood Program for Continuing Education (The B.C. Provincial Treasurer, P.E.O. Sisterhood, c/o Diane Green, 2790 Mara Dr., Coquitlam, B.C. PARKER - Joanne. Born April 20, 1961. Passed away peacefully Sunday, June 27, 1999 at Lions Gate Hospital. Survived by her loving husband Mark Lemmon, sons Rory (7) and Alexander (6), parents Don and Peg, sisters Kim, Kerry, Leigh, uncles Brian (Sylvia) and Robin (Jennifer) nephews Charlie, Bob, Spencer, Robert, nieces Emma, Gillian and Katie. Joanne was a very loving mother who was proud of her sons. She will always be remembered and respected for her strength and character. Memorial service to be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Upper Lynn Valley School (School Counselling) and the Canadian Cancer Society.

PETERSON - Lily F. Passed away June 27, 1999 in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Fred and her son Brian of Ottawa. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Dawne Willington and son-in-law Ken, her grandchildren Kevin and Brenda, her very special niece Diane Nelson (Bob) and their family Doug (Karen) and Melody (Steve) and numerous other relatives and long time friends. Memorial service to be held Thursday July 1, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1110 Gladwin Drive, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research. Special thanks to the staff of the Kiwanis Care Centre of Deep Cove for the loving care and attention given to mom.

GATLEY - Alvin Duncan. Passed away suddenly at the age of 81 years Saturday, June 26, 1999. Survived by his wife of 56 years Jean, son Bruce, daughters Marla (Daryl) Holt; Ferne (Wayne) Morrison; brother Lorne (Helma); grandchildren Darryl, Trevor, Janna, Sherri, Rob and many nieces and nephews. Husband, father, grandfather, teacher, advisor and friend. We miss you and till we meet again all our love. Memorial service will be held at the Lynn Valley United Church, 3201 Mountain Hwy., North Vancouver, Friday, July 2, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Arthritus Society would be greatly appreciated.

CARROLL - George P. Passed away at L.G.H. June 23, 1999. He is survived by Pat, his loving wife of 49 years. Sisters, Theresa and June. Sons, Peter and Kelly, daughter-in-law, Wendee. Daughter Chris and her husband, Spence. 5 grandchildren. 3 Great grandchildren. George was a longtime employee of Burrard Drydock and active member of Legion 118. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Eagles Club, 170 W 3rd St. North Van at 2:00 pm, July 3. Come say some words for George. In leiu of flowers, please donate to Cancer Society.

PROCTOR - Reta Pansy, (nee Moore). Passed away peacefully June 26, 1999. Reta was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta July 9, 1912 and was predeceased by her husband Gordon 1991, and brother Harry. Reta will be very sadly missed by her daughters, Sheila (Dave), Nancy (John), grandchildren Doug (Helen), Cathy, Melissa, Jenny, and her great grandchildren Nolan and Carson. At Reta's request, there will be a family gathering. Donations may be made in Reta's name to the charity of your choice.

May the sun shine warm
upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

MARK - Davida (nee Campbell). Passed away peacefully June 27, 1999 at Lions Gate Hospital. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who gave her whole heart to those close to her. Davida had a kind and caring nature, a woman who gave love and received it back in abundance. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 41 years Jerry, her daughter Leslie, son-in-law Jeff, dearly loved grandchildren Cameron, Meagan and Amanda and other relatives and friends. They are left with warm memories of her happy well lived life. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Satuday July 3, 1999 at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver. The family would like to thank all those involved in Davida's care for their compassion and support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, (Palliative Care) or the Canadian Cancer Society.

ZECHMAN - Marian Ellen passed away peacefully on June 22, 1999 in her 41st year after a brave battle with cancer. Lovingly missed by her mother, Rose Mook, her father Ernst Zechman and his wife, Susan; brother Peter (Wendy), sister Grace (Barry) Chychul; step-siblings Geoff (Marina), Brad (Brenda), Chris (Rebecca) Millman; and Laura (Mark) Travers; aunt Libby Watts; and nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, July 2, 1999 at the Boal Chapel, First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lynn Valley Lodge Activity Dept.

WATSON - Mabel Grace (nee Box) Born September 6, 1912, Belmont, Manitoba. Passed away June 27, 1999 age 86 years. Predeceased by her daughter Susan (1981). She will be greatly missed and affectionately remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Cremation. No service at her request.

RUTHERFORD, MARK - passed away on June 30th, 1999 at the age of 87. A veteran, a devoted husband and a loving father, Mark had been a resident of Lynn Valley for the past 41 years. Mark was a gentle, patient and thoughtful man who will be remembered for his respectful and caring manner with people around him. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eleanor and is sadly missed by his three children: Brian (Lawan) Rutherford; Heather (Robert) Boyne; and Ray (Peggy) Rutherford and his five grandchildren. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all the staff at Lions Gate Hospital for their genuine concern and their supportive care. Family and Friends are invited to a celebration of Mark's life on Sunday, July 11, 1999 between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00pm at the family home: 1571 Dempsey Road, North Vancouver. MERCER - Alice Doreen (Bunty) - Born May 15, 1921 - Passed away June 28, 1999. Predeceased by her loving husband Cec in 1998. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son John (Bonny), daughter Pat (Ron) Kolesar, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. CEDERBERG - Paul Samuel. Passed away at Lions Gate Hospital, June 10, 1999. Aged 58 years. Survived by brothers Forrest (Alison), Will (Dolly) and Randy (Shirley). He will be sadly missed by many family and very close friends. Longtime member of the North Van Army & Navy Unit 45 & proud member/boardmember of the Antique/Classic Car Club. HODGKINS - Ross Giles. Born May 16, 1938 in Toronto, Ontario. Passed away peacefully on June 19, 1999 at Lions Gate Palliative Care Unit in North Vancouver after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Ross was predeceased by his parents Reg and Erva and his twin brother Dean. He is survived by his sisters Verna (Fred) Yacula of Meaford, Ontario and Joan Richburg of Toronto. He will be sadly missed by his loving family - wife Fran, sons David and Grant of Vancouver and Derek of Williams Lake, B.C. He had a special place in the hearts of his in-laws, Frank and Connie Zweng, as well as Terry, Mary-Lynn and their families. The family wishes to thank their co-workers and friends, especially George and Carol Jarvis for their love and support at this most difficult time. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at Christ the Redeemer Church in West Vancouver.
