BATES - Eleanor Jean. Born May 3, 1922 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Passed away December 19, 1999 at Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver. A well loved music teacher having taught in Thunder Bay and West Vancouver for over 45 years, she will be greatly missed by her daughter, Barbara, son-in-law Archie, grandchildren Max and Eric, all living in North Vancouver. She will be remembered for her generosity, spontaneity, friendship, humor and creativity. A life lived fully. There will be a memorial service at St. Stephens Anglican Church, 885 - 22nd Street, West Vancouver at 11:30 am, Thursday, December 30, 1999.

KRUSE - Dorothy. Age 87. Passed away December 21, 1999 and went home to be with the Lord where she joins her late husband Broer. She leaves behind her three sons, Robert (Eunice), Norman (Lois) and Alan (Heather), eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She loved the Lord and the people in her life, especially the many pupils she taught in the North Vancouver School District and in her church. She was born, raised, educated and married in Alberta, then moved to North Vancouver in 1937. In the course of living 62 years in North Vancouver, she was very involved in both church and community. The last five years of her life were spent living at Lynn Valley Care Centre where exceptional care was given and much appreciated by her family. Memorial service at Delbrook Baptist Church, 515 W. Windsor Road, North Vancouver on December 30 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship (J.R. Linsey) or Focus on the Family, all c/o Delbrook Baptist Church.

WILLIAMS - Kyla. Passed away suddenly December 19, 1999. Survived by Wayne, Josh, Cole. and the Overes and Lilley family. Viewing will be held at the New Boal Chapel, First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Rd. North Vancouver, Thursday, December 30, 3 pm.- 5 pm.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 424 West Esplanade. In lieu of flowers donations to be made to the Alano Club of the North Shore, 176 East 2nd St, North Vancouver. V7L 1C3.

MILLARD, Grace (nee Horton). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mom on December 25, 1999 at West Vancouver Care Centre. Born April 1, 1911 in Collingwod, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband Charles Millard in 1969 and her son Allan in 1992. Survived and much loved by her daughter Elaine (Frank) Horvat, daughter-in-law Mary Millard, dear grandmother to Marilea Veldhoen and Chris Millard and great-grandmother of Ashlea, Casey Jo and Michaela Veldhoen. Grace will be sadly missed by Dr. Shelly Horvat and Dion (Allison) Horvat, brother-in-law Lloyd Millard of Guelph, Ontario, sister-in-law Gerry Thatcher of Guelph, Ontario and Ruth (Bob) Martin of Sarnia, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. Frank and Elaine wish to thank the staff of W.V.C.C. and especially all the nurses that cared for Mom, and a special thanks to Ross for his friendship and Dr. Annette Anderson for her kindness shown to us during this time. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m Thursday, December 30, 1999 at the New Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. A memorial service will be held in Toronto, Ontario at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at Alderwood United Church with Rev. Bern Warren officiating. With reception to follow.

HURST, Norman. Peacefully on December 27, 1999, aged 85, at Lions Gate Hospital. He leaves his wife Elizabeth, two sons Michael and Peter, and two grandchildren, Emma and Joshua. `Celebration of his Life' service at West Van United Church, 21st & Esquimalt, Thursday, December 30 at 1 pm. RYAN - Vivian Evelyna. After a long courageous fight with cancer, Vivian passed away December 24, 1999 in Palliative Care at Lions Gate Hospital. Survived by sisters Pat Agnew at home and Alice in Houston. Vivian was a longterm employee (47 years) of Burrard Drydock Company, a friend and confidant of employees and management. A gal who made friends easily and lastingly with associates and customers. She held in very high esteem her Versatile "Family", especially the men in the yard whom she referred to as the "salt of the earth". She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. A very special thanks to Dr. Douglas C.T. Coupland and the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Ward at Lions Gate Hospital who were so supportive and caring. No service by request, cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, 231 East 15th St, North Vancouver, V7L 2L7 would be appreciated.

DAVISON - Ronald Kenneth. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, on September 1, 1919. Resided in Vancouver, B.C. since 1927. He worked in the Federal Civil Service for 20 years. He died December 26, 1999 at Inglewood Care Centre, West Vancouver, B.C. after a lengthy illness. Survived by his loving sister Olive Meglaughlin of West Vancouver, and will be missed by many loving nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Gerry Davison of Surrey, B.C. and longtime Special Chum Ted Meglaughlin of West Vancouver. Ken was a very loving person with a quiet dignity all his own. At last he will be with his beloved wife "Irene". Private family service at Holly-burn Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Ray Waller officiating. HOLLYBURN FUNERAL HOME 922-1221

FISHER - Sarah (Randells). Passed away peacefully at Kiwanis Care Center in North Vancouver on December 22, 1999. Born December 24, 1910 in Toronto. Predeceased by loving husband Lester Heath Fisher. Lovingly remembered by her children John and Lorraine; grandchildren Ian Fisher, Basil (Roberta), Gregory, Elise, Christopher Van Riet; great-grand-children Brianna, Zakary Van Riet; sister Pearl Ellen Randells; together with other relatives and friends. Memorial service was held at St. Simon's Deep Cove, Wednesday, December 29, 1999. THOMPSON - Lois Louise. Passed away on December 19, 1999 in the loving care of Kiwanis Care Center staff and was attended by her youngest daughter. Louise was born on the 21st day of June in the year of 1912 at Elfros Saskatchewan to Flora McNab and Sigurdur Bjarnason. She was the youngest of the sisters Bea, Helen and Shirley. Louise blessed this world with five beautiful children; Garry Dale, Markham Ontario, William Brian McNab, North Vancouver, B.C., Shirley Gayle Elizabeth Carter, Abbotsford B.C., James Wilson, North Vancouver B.C. and Patricia Louise Kim Cole, Calgary, Alberta. Louise lived in Kenora Ontario, Flin Flon and Winnipeg, Manitoba before heading west to B.C. where North Vancouver became home. She resided at Kiwanis Lynn Manor for over 20 years before moving to the beautiful K.C.C. on Mount Seymour Parkway. No public service will be held. Your prayers and loving thoughts are heartfelt. "May you know acceptance, forgiveness and love."

WARREN - Annie. Born September 20, 1917. Passed away December 27, 1999 at Lions Gate Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her son David, daughter Barbara, son-in-law Abraham and precious granddaughter Mitra, and lovingly remembered by other family and friends. A special thank you to Joanne and Julie at "The Hub" who added quality of life to our Mother's last years. Also thank you to Dr. Markle for his kindness and the 4 West nurses. A private service was held for family.

LAMPHIER - Anne. Passed away peacefully at Summerland Extended Care at the age of 88. Predeceased in July 1999 by her grandson, Kevin Rice and son-in-law Barry Wentland. Survived by her daughters, Joyce Wentland and Carole Rice (Fred); grandchildren, Steve Wentland (Lorna), Sheri Cozicar (Bryon), Sandra Barr (Stephen), Leesa Rice; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers, sisters, relatives and friends. ABERDIEN/LIVINGSTON (nee SANDERSON) - Martha (Molly). Born Blackburn West Lothian, Scotland, April 1, 1912. Died suddenly on December 16, 1999 in Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver BC. Mourning her loss are George, her husband; daughters Elizabeth Livingston, Norma (Colin) and Sylvia (Erik); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her cousins Phylis Roberton and Leonard Harkins and their families. Fortified by the Rites of the Catholic Church. Interred Capilano View. R.I.P. Tributes; mass cards or donations to North Shore Pro Life Society or a charity of your choice.

DOWNS - Milada Marie. Passed away quietly on December 27, 1999. She will be greatly missed by her loving son Barry and daughter Sylvia, her daughter-in-law Mary and son-in-law John Winton. She is survived as well by two beloved grandchildren Bill Downs and Elizabeth Morgans and great-grand-children Susan and Curtis Morgans. Milada Downs was a founding member of the Lions Ladies Club in Vancouver having given faithful service for over 50 years. Milada was predeceased by her adoring husband Bill and her brother Beau. A memorial service will be held at the West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Avenue at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday January 5, 2000. In lieu of flowers, happy memories shared.

TAIT, Mary. Passed away peacefully December 28, 1999 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on Vancouver Island. Mary was in her 96th year and had been a longtime resident of West Vancouver. Mary is survived by her daughter Mary Hickley of Airdrie Alberta, her son Henry and daughter-in-law Margaret of Sidney, B.C., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. By special request there will be no service.
