FAULAFER - Walter Dan Faulafer. Born September 9, 1908 in Ft. Saskatchewan, Alberta. Passed away peacefully on June 7, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital, Sechelt, B.C. Survived by his loving daughters, Wendie Kottmeier (Hans) and Dianne Wells Ledingham (Bruce Ledingham); his grandchildren Monica Bennett (Trevor), Karl Eric Kottmeier (girlfriend Nikki Jewell), Krister Kottmeier (Lucia), Kristi Wells, Stephanie Stone (James), Angela Wells and great-grandson Malcolm Wells Watson. Walter served overseas in W.W.II with the Canadian Army, followed by a career in finance and accounting in Vancouver. For many years he was an active member of the Board of Trade and the Downtown YMCA. He enjoyed politics and was instrumental in the formation of West Vancouver Municipal Affairs. He retired to the Sunshine Coast where he loved fishing, playing golf and sharing his home with family and friends. We will remember Dad for his marvellous sense of humour. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at St. David's United Church, Taylor Way &Upper Levels Highway, West Vancouver.

MOYLE - Barbara Ryland of West Vancouver. Born February 18, 1924 in Birmingham, England. Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital, June 10, 2000. Survived by her children Lesley Barbara Moyle and John Robert Moyle. Our gracious and gentle Ma will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by Dr. Young, her extended family Robin, Laszio, Bryan, Leslie, Andrew and her many loving friends. In keeping with her wishes a tea will be held Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2000 at her home.

KENNEDY - Liva Mary. Liva passed away peacefully recently at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Alan, in 1971. She is survived by her beloved son Thomas (Kathleen); her adored grandchildren Graeme and Megan (Shane), as well as her darling great-granddaughter Madelyn. She also leaves two brothers, Leo and Rolland Martin and numerous nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Dr. Doug McTaggart, the staff at Lynn Valley Lodge, and Fr. Holland and the visitors from St. Stephen's Church. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Stephen's Church, 1360 E. 24th St, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated.

STEWART - Roy M., aged 77 passed away June 27, 2000. Survived by wife Margaret; daughter Gloria and husband Reg; son Robert and wife Lorren; grandson Angus. Will be very much missed by loving family and friends. Sincere thanks to all in the Palliative Care Lions Gate. Please contact the family for service details. PHILLIPS - Doris Esther (Martin) Mother and Grandmother Passed away peacefully, June 25, 2000 after a short illness. Born in 1916, Doris was a long time West Vancouver resident. In 1942 she married Jack Phillips, who died in service in the Canadian Army in 1945. Doris worked in the West Vancouver Municipal Hall and later for the West Vancouver School Board until retirement. She will be missed by her family, son David, his wife Judy, and her beloved grandchildren Marjorie, Jeremy and Katie; her niece Beth and husband Colin, children Brent and Robin (Wendy); her cousin Essie; and her many dear friends. Special thanks to the fine people at Lions Gate Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to the Union Gospel Mission of Vancouver or Foster Parents Plan. Doris will be remembered for her loving spirit, humour, graciousness, and her homemade cookies. DOUGHTY - Jessica Joyce, November 22, 1985 - June 22, 2000. Suddenly, but peacefully, at B.C. Children's Hospital with her family at her side, after a lifetime challenged by Friedreich's Ataxia. Predeceased by her faithful companion Spike. Lovingly remembered and survived by her parents Michael and Vickie Doughty, grandparents Jim and Pat McCurrach, George Petrescue (honorary), Steph Doughty, aunts and uncles, Kathleen and Leigh Barrett, Rob McCurrach and Daphne Gagnon, Susan and John Harley, Brenda and Hans Opelka (honorary), Susan Ernst, Rich and Karen Doughty, Doug Doughty and Brenda Doughty; cousins Meghan and Allison Harley, Jamie, Kevin and Jonathon McCurrach (their mother Robbin), Jason and Simon Gagnon, Brad Pearce, Ryan and Jordan Doughty, Amanda and Rebecca Doughty, and Kelly Doughty. Special friends Lindsay, Manpreet and Jamie. Jessica also leaves many friends too numerous to acknowledge here, including those of the animal kingdom. Jessica would not allow her physical limitations to prevent her from participating in a wide variety of activities including baseball, swimming, horseback riding, fishing, arts and crafts, gardening, and most recently, wheelchair soccer. She also worked her way through the Girl Guide Programme, and on June 4, 2000 was presented with her Canada Cord. In her "spare time" Jessica was a voracious reader. Jessica attended Rainbow Preschool, Renfrew Elementary, Nootka Elementary, and had just completed Grade Nine at John Oliver Secondary where she achieved Honour Roll status. Special thanks to all those at Canuck P(a)lace, B.C. Children's Hospital and John Oliver Secondary School, especially Dr. Barlow, Eric, Carol, Cindy B, Sheila and Nancy. A celebration of Jessica's life will be held at John Oliver Secondary School Auditorium, 530 East 41st Avenue, Vancouver on Thursday, July 6, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jessica to any of the following: W.S.P.C.R. AUSTEN - Alexander Albert Major (Ret.) M.B.E. Passed away June 22, 2000. Alec was a charter member of the Eighth Army - (Desert Rats), and was posted, in 1943, to the British War Office. He immigrated to Canada in 1953. Predeceased by his loving wife Elsie in 1988. Survived by sons John (Diana), Geoffrey (Carol); daughter Pamela Andrews, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his many other friends and relatives. MURPHY - Kenneth Harry. Died at Lions Gate Hospital, June 21, 2000. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Audrey; children Maureen, Sr. Marie Therese, OSC, Bernard (Sue), Louise, Sharon, Paul, Desmond (Jennifer), Leonie (Fred), granddaughters, Kaetlin, Jennifer, and Angela; sisters Pat (Harold) Archer and Tessie Jones; brother Joe (Phyl); and many other relatives and friends. Ken was an accountant officer in the R.A.F. during WWII, and for many years was a director of St. Vincent de Paul Services for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. NEUDORF - Lila Lenore, passed away suddenly on June 18, 2000. Predeceased by the love of her life Albert, Lila is survived by her mother Ina Fizzell, her loving children Greg (Kathy) and Laurie (Erol), grandchildren Christina, Beth, Khan and Amber, her loving sisters, brothers and other family and friends. PRUDEN - Allan Frank went to his rest in the arms of the Lord at the age of 59 years, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on March 5, 1941 and died on June 24, 2000 - beginning and ending his days in North Vancouver, B.C. Allan is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 33 years; their children, Andree Tomlinson, Michelle Watts, and Kirk Pruden; six grandchildren; his sister Judie Whitby; as well as many friends and family. He was predeceased by both of his parents. Memorial service was held on Thursday, June 29, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sutherland Church on 630 East 19th Street, North Vancouver. "For I know that my redeemer lives and he shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God" Job 19: 25, 26. HUTCHINSON - George William Passed away on June 27, 2000 at Vancouver General Hospital in his 75th year. He is survived by his family who loved him dearly, wife Colleen, son Brad (Lois) Hutchinson of Los Angeles, daughters Karen (Ron) DeCamillis of West Vancouver and Cathy (Greg) Knight of Calgary. Also his beloved grandchildren Kelsey, Karmen and Krista DeCamillis; and Keegan, Griffin and Brody Knight. He will be sadly missed by his family and many loving friends. A memorial service to celebrate George's life will be held at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver on Friday, June 30, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the B.C. CAPT. W. NORMAN SCOTT Master Mariner. Died 10:00 a.m. June 27, 2000, born July 13, 1920 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Survived by his beloved wife Helen; daughters Dian (Hans) Verwey, Lacombe, Alta, Juanita (Colin) Carter, Rhyll, Australia, Heather (Dayl) Twan, Merritt, B.C; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and sister Edith Williams of Duncan. Norman's love of the sea was from childhood. He joined the Merchant Navy at age 16 on the Scottish ship Gregalia, achieving his Masters ticket at 26 on the Fort Yukon and the Lake Shawnigan. Later achieving his Extra Masters. Service at Highland United Church, 3255 Edgemont Blvd, North Vancouver at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2000.

JARDINE - James Kinnard, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 17, 2000 at the age of 84. Born and raised near Collingwood, Ontario on December 25, 1915, he was a long time North Shore resident. Jim was a Flight Lieutenant during WWII attached to 625 RAF Squadron and received the DFC. He retired after a long career in pharmaceutical sales with Mead Johnson Co. in Ontario, and B.C. Jim will be lovingly remembered by Enda, his wife of 57 years, and his sister Margaret of Collingwood, Ontario. A devoted father and grandfather, Jim will be greatly missed by his children, Pat (Eric), Katherine (Jonathan), James (Margaret), Don (Jane), Margot (Malcolm), his 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. at the West Vancouver Presbyterian Church, 2893 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, B.C.

CATHREA - Lillian Wall (Arme) Born September 22, 1916 in Plunkett, Saskatchewan, died on June 21, 2000 at North Vancouver. Survived by her daughters, Arloa Miller and companion Clyde Adams, Georganne Cathrea and companion K.C. Birkhahn; grandchildren Margot Birch and husband John, Brett Miller and wife Sally, Zachary Miller and wife Jennifer; great-grandchildren Michael Birch and Jordan and Baylee Miller, all of California; stepsons, Harry Cathrea and wife Railene of California and Stephen Cathrea and wife Shelley of Kelowna; step-grandchildren Casie, Cory, Jeffrey and Melissa Cathrea; son-in-law David Miller and many nieces and nephews, especially Wayne Becker and Sid Armatage; sisters-in-law, Agnes and Elizabeth. Fondly remembered by her many students and fellow teachers at Cloverley and Cleveland Elementary Schools. Charter member of the Janfraes and long time Blood Donor Clinic volunteer. MOYSEYUK -(Harrison) Erma Viola. Born in Hazlet, Saskatchewan on March 3, 1926. Erma passed away June 22, 2000 surrounded by her loving family. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend. She will always be remembered and deeply missed by her husband Bill; daughter Sherry (Dan); son Rod (Yvonne); grandchildren Ryan, Shaun, Jason, Sheldon, Carleigh; surviving sisters, Florence, Velma, Elva, Ethel, twin sister Eva; and all the friends and family that knew her and what a special person she was. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 E. Hastings St., Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations in Erma's memory may be made to the B.C. Lung Association if desired. How blessed we have been to have had such a special person in our lives, may she now be at peace.

WRIGHT, Willena Betty. Born February 6, 1916 in North Vancouver. Passed away peacefully June 22, 2000 at Nanaimo Hospital. Predeceased by her first husband Bill Guinn in 1981. Survived by her loving husband Burton, daughters Colleen Lewis (Glenn) and Marybeth Lavender (Ted Walter) grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, James and Paul, great-grandchildren Sarah, Zachery and Alexandra, Burton's son Mike (Barb) and daughter Mary-Ann (Del) Germyn, his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Smith family who were early pioneers in North Vancouver, and a member of St. Andrews United Church. She graduated from North Vancouver High School, and spent many years teaching piano there before she moved to Nanoose Bay in 1974 and then later into Parksville where she enjoyed her carpet bowling and bingo nights. She was an avid knitter and quilter and enjoyed her garden. There will be a celebration of her life at Nanoose Place, 2925 North West Bay Rd. Nanoose on Wednesday June 27 at 2 pm.
