YOUNG - George

Passed away suddenly at home on May 28,2004. Predeceased by loving wife Nancy and his brothers and sisters. George will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by sons George, Bruce (Marilyn) daughter Darlene (Steve) and grandchildren Fraser, Kaylin, Cassie and Callum. He will be sadly missed by his many family and friends in Canada, Scotland and Australia. George was born August 26, 1930 in Scotland. He lived there until 1957 thereafter emigrating to Canada. He was very proud to be Scottish and bravely managed a final holiday there last year. George was an enthusiastic pipe band drummer. He also had a great passion for sports including golfing and fishing. George's determination and sense of humour helped him through the years to overcome his many health battles. He fought until the end with great pride and dignity. All who came to know George will miss him deeply. Service to be held Wednesday June 2 at 11:00 am at Burkeview Family Funeral Care. 1340 Dominion Avenue. Port Coquitlam. V3C 3V4. Phone 944-4128.

HEDGES - AMBER Elizabeth

Born May 3, 1981. It is with heavy heart the family announces Amber's passing on May 27th 2004. Though her spirit remains with us, we know she is at peace dancing with the Angels. Amber's ability to conquer each obstacle with grace, courage and an incredible sense of humour have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Amber is survived by her parents, Betty and Bruce Hedges, brother Scott, Grandparents (Betty Hedges, Joyce and Courtenay Foster), her precious dog Hope, her loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and her many, many friends. She touched a great many hearts. Amber leaves to join her Papa Dennis Hedges. A celebration of Amber's life will be held Saturday June 5th @ 1 p.m. at the Fraserview Mennonite Brethren Church (11295 Mellis Dr. Richmond) Reception to follow at R.C. Palmer Gym (8160 St. Albans Rd. Richmond) Everyone Welcome. Our apologies to B shift. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Richmond Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.

GOMES - Susila Gomes

Age 84, born May 8, 1920; passed away peacefully May 28, 2004. Born to Edmund and Sophia Peiris, she will be lovingly missed by her husband, Noel; daughter, Jayanthi; son, Ranjit and his wife Monika; grandson, Gihan; sisters, Seela, and Sumithra; brother-in-law, Felix and his wife Reene; and countless family and friends. A viewing will be held in a private room on Wednesday, June 2nd at 3pm, followed by the funeral service at 4pm in the main sanctuary, and reception to follow at St. Anne's Church, 4071 Francis Rd., Richmond, Ph. # 604-277-9626. Our deepest thanks for the love and support of friends and family.

MIERAU - Sheila Winifred (nee Haggis)

Passed away peacefully in North Vancouver on May 30, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. Sheila was born in South Norwood, England on September 14, 1927. She emigrated to Canada as a "War Bride" and settled in Deep Cove, North Vancouver with her first husband Wilfred Dryhurst. Sheila will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all her friends and family, her two sisters Kathleen McLauchlan (Gary) and Cynthia Thomas (Michael), her son Cameron, and daughters Barbara and Sharon (Patrick) and grandchildren Vanessa and Jennifer. Sheila's ability to conquer life's obstacles with courage and grace and her incredible sense of humour have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. A very special thank you to Dr. David Martin and the wonderful nurses and staff at Kiwanis Care Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Sheila to the Alzheimer Society.

GAM - AKSEL

Born April 2, 1917 in Odense, Denmark passed away at age 87. Father of Eric, father-in-law of Luisa, and dear grandfather to Alexander. Predeceased by wife of 50 years Margaret Helen in 1993. A memorial service will be held at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, B.C. on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 2:00pm. HARTFORD - Donald Frederick

Passed away at Burnaby General Hospital on Friday April 2, 2004. Born to Thomas Harrison Hartford and Muriel Frances Hartford (nee Fryer) April 12, 1925 in Vancouver. Donald always thought of others before himself. His presence and humility will always be remembered. He was an active member of the Lions International. Predeceased by his wife Glenna, brother Thomas Raymond, sisters Brenda Marie Doige and Muriel Hartford. He will be sadly missed by his children Ronalee Denise (Randy) Gorrie, Charles Thomas (Janet) Hartford, grandchildren Jonathon Gorrie and Ashley Gorrie, sister Norma Marie Reynolds, brother Harold Harrison Hartford and George Palmer Hartford; also by numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. VOLRICH - Daniel Randolph Michael (Danny)

Passed away peacefully at home in Langley, B.C after a lengthy illness in his 56th year. Lovingly remembered by his parents Danny and Gloria Volrich of North Vancouver, wife Dianne of Langley and two daughters Angelica Marie with her fiance Glenn Marshall of White Rock, and Ryanne Mangat her husband Ken of Penticiton, as well as many relatives in B.C. and California. Danny worked 38 years for Safeway stores in North Vancouver and in the Fraser Valley. Danny first served his community on the Seymour Mountain Ski Patrol and the North Shore Search and Rescue. Following his move to Langley he co-founded the Fraser Valley Search and Rescue and also served as a volunteer with the Langley Fire Department for 20 years. A celebration of his life is being held at Langley United Church, 5673 200th Street in Langley at 1:00 pm on April 8, 2004. Flowers are gratefully declined. EVELYN - Helen Low
(1926-2004)

Passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2004 in Williams Lake, B.C. Born in Calder, Saskatchewan to Margaret (nee Eftoda) and John Boyko, Evelyn was the fourth youngest in a family of twelve. She lived in Saskatchewan and B.C. at various points in her life, settling finally in New Westminster. Her working life was as a telephone operator first in Saskatchewan and then in B.C. A wonderfully caring person, Evelyn nursed her parents as well as her aunt and uncle in their latter years. Although in her last years she battled numerous illnesses she did not allow this to diminish her love of life. Evelyn's presence will be missed by her three daughter Lillian (Bruce) Mack, Marilyn Shanks, and Doreen Laughlin. She will always be part of the memories of her grandchildren, Rana, Nara, Gareth, Tracy, Robert, and Ashley. Her three great grandchildren, Darien, Laine and Samantha were fortunate to have known a genuinely compassionate lady. We will all miss you, Mom, Gramma, GG. A memorial tea for friends and family will be held at Evelyn's home on Saturday, April 10th from 1:30-3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made the the Canadian Cancer Society in her name.

JUDGE - Edna Anne (Bonnie) nee McCloskey.

April 4th, 2004, peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, Bonnie Judge in her 80th year died of cancer. Beloved wife of Frank Judge, with whom she shared 58 years of a full and wonderful life. Cherished Mother of Frank (MJ), Anne (John Perraton), Michael (Ellen Costello), Maureen ( Martin Waxman), Ted, Barbara (David Tait), Martha (Allison Sletcher) and Peter. Loved Grandmother to seven: Matthew( Sandra Ouzanian) & Travis Perraton (Jessica Smallwood), Shawn Judge, Jacob and Rebecca Waxman, Kevin and Carolyn Tait and Great Grandmother to Archer Perraton. Bonnie was the daughter of the late Fern Cumming and D'Arcy McCloskey of Ottawa. Dear sister of Helen Marshall (Earl) of London, England and brother D'Arcy McCloskey of Ottawa. Born in Ottawa November 2nd 1924, Bonnie formed lifelong friendships at Queen's University where she graduated in 1945. Bonnie's passion was to her family and community. Her actions spoke for themselves. Notable among those included extensive involvements in both the Elizabeth Fry Society and the Great Books, long time board member and former chairman Canadian Mental Health Association (Metro Toronto), Founding Chair of the Ban Righ Foundation, Queen's University, and a member of the United Way's Evaluation Committee (Metro Toronto). As a board member of B.C. Friends of Schizophrenia, in her later years Bonnie travelled the province to raise awareness and develop services for one of Canada's least understood disabilities. Bonnie surrounded herself with loved ones and was loved by many. We will all remember her strength, wit, and laughter. We will miss her dearly. Vancouver Friends are invited to 3090 Rosebery Ave, Bonnie and Frank's home on Thursday, April 8th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Toronto Friends are invited to The University Women's Club, Toronto, 162 St George St. at Bloor St. W., on Tuesday, April 20th at 4:00pm for a tribute to Bonnie's life; reception to follow. MCBETH - Davey.

A celebration of the life and times of Davey McBeth, born September 11, 1941. Davey passed away suddenly in February after a short illness in Glasgow Scotland. Davey was a long time resident of North Vancouver and was tireless volunteer involved in North Shore Premier Level Soccer for many years. His family and friends will be celebrating Davey's life on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 3:00PM, in the Chris Lucas room at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 118, 123 West 15th St. North Vancouver. All those who worked and knew ""Wee Davey"" are cordially invited to attend.

WATT - George Cuthill

Son of the late John Turner (J.T.) Watt and Isobel Brown Cuthill Watt in his sleep April 3, 2004 in West Vancouver. Beloved husband of Mary Amelia (Greer) Watt, his devoted partner of nearly 61 years, loving father and father-in-law of Cam (Alison), Margaret (Jim), Dave (Barb), Duncan (Carol), Robb (Alison). Loving grandfather of Lindsay Brown, Mitchell and Taylor Watt, Michael and Catherine Watt, Jesse and Emma Watt. Loving brother-in-law of Barb Watt (West Vancouver) and Terry and May Dorland (Prince Edward County, Ontario) and Dot Greer (North Vancouver). Fond uncle of Maureen Anderson, John Watt, Margot Whitehead, Bonnie Bonn, Joe Dorland, Paul Greer, Jim Watt, Bari Watt, Alan Greer, Colleen Williams, Anne Leverton, Arthur Dorland, Hamish Watt, Michelle Findlay, Alan Dorland, Alison "Sunny" Aikins, Sue Lewis O'Halloran and their families. Predeceased by brothers Jack and Doug, and brothers and sisters-in-law Frances Watt, Joe and Marguerite Greer, George and Vera Greer. George Watt was a West Vancouver pioneer and veteran of World War II in the Marine Arm of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Born in North Vancouver December 28, 1915, he spent most of his life in West Vancouver except for the mid years of the Depression when he worked in the Bullion Gold Mine at Wells in the Cariboo and during World War II when he was posted to Brandon, Montreal, Trenton and Alliford Bay in the Queen Charlotte Islands, now Haida Gwaii. In Trenton he met the love of his life, Mary, at a party in Wellington, Prince Edward County, Ontario. Like his father, he served West Vancouver as a Justice of the Peace and Notary and continued the J.T. Watt Real Estate and Insurance Company founded by his father in the early 1930's. From 1960 to 1961 he was President of the West Vancouver Board of Trade. A true son of the Coast, he loved the sea and ships and captained the RCAF vessel Puffin, and relished joining the annual sail-past of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. Besides his family who mourn, he leaves a host of friends, especially members of the Supper Club, a group of his and Mary's closest friends who explored dining out together at Vancouver's newest restaurants for over a quarter of a century, friends with whom George and Mary sojourned in California for many years, and boat buddies, some of whom have gone before him. He will be particularly missed at the morning coffee gathering at Calvin's in Dundarave. He was a long time member of West Vancouver United Church, where he and Mary were married on July 31, 1943. A dedicated family man and contributor to his community, he was considered by those who knew him to be a true gentleman. The family thanks the staff of the Capilano Care Centre and "We Care" for their dedication in caring for Dad during the past year. A memorial service to celebrate George's life will be held at West Vancouver United Church on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. There will be a private interment at a later date at the Capilano View Cemetery. OWEN - Douglas Grant

Born April 30, 1948 passed away suddenly at home in Langley on March 30, 2004. Doug is survived by his wife and best friend Debbie, his parents Bill and Pearl Owen of West Vancouver, Debbie's parents Gordon and Audrey Stebanuk of Langley, brothers David and Gary, children April (Floyd) and Jennifer, grandchildren Tori and Jay along with nieces and nephews Curtis, Charlene and Candace. Doug was in the equipment business for many years. He had a wide circle of friends and associates. Correction: Doug wished that there be no service. Doug will always be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor. He will be missed by all that knew him. Rest easy ``Honey Bunny", I love you ``Deb".

HARRIMAN - Weldon

A long time resident of Beach Grove, B.C; passed away April 1, 2004. Weldon was born on July 7, 1913, in Strathmore, Alberta. Weldon leaves us to be reunited with his beloved wife Kitty and their youngest son Norman. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Ian (Wife Merina), daughter Margaret (husband Reg), his grandchildren Sharel (Bob), Julie, David, Greg and Carly; sisters Rachel and Milly and brother Norman, and extended family and friends. Weldon was always a teacher. He began his teaching career in Alberta, moved to Delta in 1951 and taught until his retirement at Delta Secondary School in Ladner. After his retirement he continued to share his woodworking/building skills with others. Weldon loved his family. He had many long time friends. Many family members and friends gathered last July to help him celebrate his 90th birthday. Weldon served in the RCAF during World War ll. He was a volunteer fireman for many years and served as fire chief. He was President of the Delta Teacher's Association. He was chief umpire for softball. He was a member of Ancient Light Lodge for over sixty years. He and Kitty were very active in Scouting. He helped to build a strong community. A Celebration of Weldon's life was held at Tsawwassen United Church, 693-53rd Street, Tsawwassen on Wednesday , April 7 at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delta Hospital Foundation, 5800 Mountain View Boulevard, Delta, B.C. V4K 3V6.
