Carlo Michele Degan

DEGAN - Carlo Michele. It is with deepest sadness and sorrow to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of a truly wonderful Husband, Father, Nono, friend and hunting partner.

Carlo was born in Valvasone, Provincia de Udine, Italia on September 29, 1924. He came to Canada in 1949 and worked on a farm and for the CPR before starting with Cominco in 1951. Dad worked in the Tank Rooms at first and then went to the Parks and Gardens, retiring in 1982.

There were many things that brought joy and happiness to this man's life the greatest being his sweet "little woman" Irma. Married on the 26th of October 1947, they started their journey together leading to the birth of their children, which were the second greatest joy and happiness in his life. Things only got better when the grandchildren and the great-grandchild came along. Dad loved each and everyone with his whole heart and would do anything for his family.

When Dad wasn't spending time with the family or working around the yard, he devoted his time and energy to his great passion for hunting and fishing. Lover of the outdoors and all living things, he was an incredible and awesome outdoorsman and a great example to all of us. He has left us a great legacy to follow.

Survived by his wife of 56 years, Irma; son, Dario (Cheryl) and their children Mike and Kayla (Will); daughter, Rosalba (Wally) and their children Denise and Steven; daughter, Bruna (Tom) and their children Derek (great-grandchild, Kasie) and Celina; daughter, Irene (Len) and their children Dennis (Rebekah), Shauntelle and Christopher.

Carlo also leaves behind two sisters, Angelina (Annibale) Salvador from Genelle and Maria (Remo) Chivilo from Toronto and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Italy, Ontario and Trail. Carlo also had many special friends whom he dearly loved and spoke about, telling hunting and fishing stories. His friends were not forgotten. Though you weren't together much in these last few years, Dad always reminisced about your times together.

So Dad
You may be gone but not forgotten
Absent but still a presence
We love you.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2003 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 1398 McQuarrie Street. Everyone is welcome. Donations to the Trail & District Stroke Recovery Club, c/o Joanne Baldassi, Box 621, Rossland, BC, V0G 1Y0, or to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Health Service (Harbour House), 2nd Floor - 1051 Farwell Street, Trail, BC, V1R 4S9 would be appreciated by the family as an expression of sympathy.
