Foster, Colleen Celeste (nee Green)
Oct 29, 1935 - Oct 27, 2014

Dying 2 days short of her 79th birthday, perhaps Colleen's last recollection was of being the 12 lb newborn who caused her mother's heart to stop during birth.

In 1935 Midway BC had no doctor but her mother, Freda Fern Green (nee - Hammerstrom), survived the ordeal and went on to give Colleen 4 brothers; Nels, Thor, Eric and Christopher.

Being the big sister of 4 brothers had its challenges but their roaming adventures into the environs around their many homes prepared her well to care for her own family and keep them safe.

Colleen's father, Tuno Green, was a Swedish emigrant and master carpenter who moved his young family often to numerous communities in BC in order to work on various construction jobs.

During the summer of 1954 the family packed up their trusty 1936 Pontiac and on the wishes of her mother this time, headed out to explore the North Thompson Valley.

On their first night, they slept on the beach at Dutch Lake.

Loving the area, her family settled here a few years but for Colleen, Clearwater would become her home for the next 60 years.

After a nomadic childhood Colleen yearned for the stability and connectedness to a permanent home and community.

It was here she met and dated John Alvin Foster, a local trucker, and they married in 1955.

Over the next 17 years, John and Colleen had 6 children; John Jr., Lee Ann, Shelley (newborn died Sept. 1959), Suzanne, Jason and Dana.

Colleen described herself as a 'Tomboy' and a 'bit of a rebel'.

She had a strong sense of moralism and was highly idealistic.

These traits set in motion her activism in helping to protect the environment and the rights of Canadian citizens.

In 1971 Colleen was a founding member of the Yellowhead Ecological Association.

Colleen was an avid photographer and many of her photos were used for local marketing initiatives.

Colleen will be best remembered for her gardens at Glen Eddy, her deep love and caring for her family and her determination to help protect the quality of life for the residents of the North Thompson Valley.

A memorial for Colleen will be held Saturday November 8th at the Clearwater Ski Club Lodge 566 Dunn Lake Road Clearwater at 1:00 pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Please bring a photo memory of Colleen to hang on a photo memory clothes line.

The family of Colleen wish to thank the nurses and staff at Forestview Place in Clearwater for their loving care and attention to our dear mother during her last days.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Colleen's name to Forestview Place Clearwater, BC.

Arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Clearwater, BC, telephone: 250-674-3030.

Lozier, Rose Elise (nee Stoller)
May 3, 1937 - Oct 12, 2014

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Lozier, 77, who passed away on October 12, 2014 in the home that she loved so dearly.

Rose was born Rosa Elise Stoller on May 3, 1937 in Windermere, B.C. to parents that had immigrated from Switzerland.

At the age of 18, one of Rose’s friends set her up on a blind date.

That night she met a young man, Ernie Lozier, and 7 months later, on April 21, 1956, Rose and Ernie eloped in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and began their life together in Ernie’s cabin in Sicamous, B.C.

Over the years, they moved quite a few times due to Ernie’s road construction job.

While living in Prince George, B.C. their first daughter Diane was born, and then a second daughter Suzie was born 18 months later.

In 1968 Rose and Ernie made their last move to Barriere, B.C.

In 1972, the family became complete when their third daughter Raye-Ann was born.

Rose was very content being a wife and mother.

Rose was an avid gardener, and had the “greenest thumb” of anyone we have ever known.

She loved her yard, and in the spring, summer and fall, could always be seen tending to her flower beds, and her vegetable garden.

In the winter, she loved to look at the seed catalogues and always looked so forward to the next growing season.

In 1993, Ernie built Rose her first greenhouse which she turned into a thriving business growing most of the flowers and vegetables that she planted from seed in February.

She would faithfully stoke the wood fire all through the night in the greenhouse to keep the temperature just right for all of her new seedlings.

Many in the community loved to come to Lozier’s Greenhouse and not only buy flowers and vegetables, but also to get growing tips, which Rose happily shared.

Rose will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 58 years Ernie.

She is survived by daughter Diane Clarke, (Bob) of Terrace, daughter Suzie Fadear (Shawn) of Barriere, and daughter Raye-Ann duPied (Charles) of Barriere.

Rose is also survived by her grandsons Clinton, Ryan and beloved granddaughter Madison Rose, and great grandson Hunter.

Rose is survived by her brothers Chris, Fred and Norman.

Rose was predeceased by her parents Christian and Rosa Stoller, and her brothers John and Arnold.

Rose was a faithful member of the Barriere Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Barriere, and took much strength and comfort from all her spiritual brothers and sisters who she loved dearly.

She keenly looked forward to her bible based hope which says: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.

The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4).

Indeed, Rose was a kind, gentle soul who touched many lives and we are grateful that we got to be part of her life.

She will continue to be loved and will be missed more than words could ever say.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 18, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Barriere, B.C.

Arrangements entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Barriere, B.C., telephone 250-672-1999.
