MARSHALL, Susan Jane

MARSHALL, Susan Jane - 38, Vancouver, B.C., formerly of Halifax and Bridgetown, died at Vancouver General Hospital, on April 13, 1999, following a long illness.

Susan was a graduate of Bridgetown Regional High School, Bridgetown, and Ryerson University, Toronto.

A former employee of Fisher Scientific, Halifax, she was injured in a car accident in 1985, leaving her a quadraplegic.

She is survived by her parents, Gloria Marshall, Vancouver, and Dennis Marshall, Clarence West, Annapolis Co.; brothers Glenn, Clarence West, and Mark and sister-in-law Melissa, Halifax; maternal grandmother, Thelma Swinimer, Centrelea, Annapolis Co.; nephews, Ryan and Dylan Marshall, Bridgetown; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Harry and Annie Marshall (Clarence West), and her maternal grandfather, Percy Swinimer.

Susan was active in the disabled community; a member of the BCPA, Disabled Sailing Association, People with Disabilities Association.

She moved to Vancouver in 1992 where she found many new friends and a comfortable lifestyle.

Memorial services are being held at "A Sacred Place" Chapel, Vancouver, B.C., on April 19 at 2 p.m. and St. James Church, Bridgetown, on April 23 at 2 p.m.

Interment of cremated remains are at a later date in Halifax.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rick Hansen Man in Motion Foundation, Rick Hansen Institute, Room 1040-1874 East Mall, University of B.C., Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z1, or to a charity of your choice.

WALSH, Arthur G. Jr.

WALSH, Arthur G. Jr. - 54, Vancouver, died suddenly February 6, 1999.

Born in Halifax, he was a son of Arthur and Rita Veronica (MacKinnon) Walsh.

Art was retired from the Canadian Air Force and until recently worked as a contractor in the Vancouver area.

He was predeceased by his mother, Rita.

He is survived by his father, Arthur, Dartmouth; brothers, Neil (Edna), Amherst; David, Ken (Judy), Dartmouth; Owen, Halifax; several nieces and nephews.

He will be sadly missed by his many friends in Vancouver, and family and friends in Halifax.

As per Art's request, cremation and memorial service will be held in Vancouver.

A service in Dartmouth will be held Monday, February 15, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Anthony's Church, 29 Farrell St., Dartmouth, Rev. Richard Philiposki officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

MITCHELL, Charles C.

MITCHELL, Charles C. - Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Mitchell, passed away peacefully in Vancouver on February 17, 1999.

He was born April 21, 1911, in Halifax.

Predeceased by his daughter, Heather (Ken); sisters, Audrey Malloy, Rubye Higgins, Emily Shaw; brothers, Austin, Ralph, Ronald.

Survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Jeanmarie (David); grandchildren, Leah (Joe), Lori (Greg), Tony (Jill); great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kevin and Steven; sister, Madeleine Belange; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service at St. David's Church, Delta, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 21.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. David's "Kurtis Anderson Memorial Fund", St. David's Anglican Church, 1115-51A St., Delta, BC V4M 2Y2.

BOWES, William Henry "Bill"

BOWES, William Henry "Bill" - 79, passed away peacefully in the Elisabeth Bruyere Pavilion, following a lengthy illness at home, Saturday, September 11, 1999.

Beloved husband of Trilby (Rhindress).

Dear father of Carolyn Beaulieu and Roberta Audrain (Ted); grandfather of Christa Bisset (Mike); and a great-grandfather of Emma Bisset, all of British Columbia.

Survived by brother, Harold, Dartmouth; and a niece, Lorna Cormier, Belleville.

Born October 24, 1919, in Halifax, he was a son of the late William G. Bowes and Henrietta M. Judge.

He was predeceased by brother, Allen.

He graduated in engineering from Dalhousie University, the Nova Scotia Technical College (TUNS) and the University of Michigan.

A dedicated professor in the engineering faculty at Dalhousie from 1943 to 1955 and Carleton University from 1960 to 1987, he was awarded a 1983 OCUFA teaching award, the highest honour for excellence in University teaching in Ontario.

An inventor and co-author of two engineering textbooks, his other professions included nuclear power plant design and analysis of arctic pipe lines.

Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 3440 Richmond Road, Neapan, Ontario, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. for memorial visitation.

Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Inurnment Pinecrest Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make memorial donations to Elisabeth Bruyere Pavilion or to a charity of their choice.

SNOW, Edwin George

SNOW, Edwin George - 74, Berwick, Kings Co., died Saturday, January 16, 2000, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Born in British Columbia, he was a son of the late Frank S. and Elizabeth (Hannah) Snow.

He had been a resident of New Visions Home for Special Care, Berwick since 1983.

He was also a faithful member of the Berwick United Church.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Wambolt Snow, New Visions, Berwick; sister, Alma Burger, Denver, Col.; one niece.

He was predeceased by brother, Bill; sister, Marjorie Kelly.

Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick.

Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday in Berwick United Church, Rev. Donald MacPherson officiating.

Burial in Cambridge Cemetery.

MIDDLETON, James "Snookie"

MIDDLETON, James "Snookie" - 67, died February 15, 1999, in Vancouver, B.C.

Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late James and Louise (Pye) Middleton.

Surviving are brother, Walter, Dartmouth; sister, Fay Parker, Stewiacke.

He was predeceased by sister, Janie Middleton; brother, John.

Cremation has taken place in Vancouver.

William Burns
Jun 18, 1928 - Jun 24, 2006

North Vancouver, British Columbia

William (Bill) passed away suddenly in Lions Gate Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Nilda and many loving family and dear friends.

Bill was a direct decendent of Robbie Burns and a pilot of the R.A.F. in WW11.

A private prayer service was held at Loving Memories Funeral Chapel in Squamish, BC on June 28th.

Cremation by request.

John Aitken

AITKEN, John, passed away June 25, 2006 at the age of 75 years, in Penticton.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Lynne of 22 years.

John was a veteran of the Korean War.

A private graveside service will be held.

Kevin Wagar of Naramata, BC passed away June 16, 2006. All who knew him were invited to join Ken, Debbie and his family in a Celebration of His Life that took place Friday June 30, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at Columbia Hall, Naramata Centre, 3375 3rd Street. This was preceded by a special time for those who wish to say a personal good-bye to Kevin, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Chalmers Chapel (across from the Hall) in Naramata.

John Berry

Summerland, British Columbia

BERRY, John Roland passed away June 25, 2006 at the age of 88 years in Penticton at the Moog and Friends Hospice. John was born in Carnduff, Saskatchewan and was educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the University of British Columbia. When he was overseas with the Canadian Army he attended the Sandhurst Royal Military College in England. He spent five years in the Canadian Army in England during WW II. After the war, he worked as a grain inspector in Winnipeg for several years, and then moved to BC, working for 25 years as a civil servant for the Government of BC in Prince George and Victoria. John and his wife Janice retired to Summerland in 1990. He was predeceased by his daughter Lantha, sister Joan, and niece Gail. He will be lovingly missed by his wife and family. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 22, 14205 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, on July 12th, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Rick Gay officiating. Donations may be made to the Cancer Research Society. Arrangements entrusted to Hansons' Arbor Funeral Chapel.
