Williams, David "Ian" Sunday, 14 Dec 2003
Nov. 19, 1953 - Dec. 14, 2003
After a lengthy illness, Ian passed away quietly on Dec. 14, 2003 with his wife Joanne by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne, children Kelle (Clay) and Brett and grandson Darien. He is also survived by his parents Len and Mary, sisters Frances (Garnet) and Ruth (Pete), and brothers Alan and Hugh. Ian was known to his close friends as ‘Gentle Ben’ or ‘The Griz’. He was a big man with a heart of gold – a simple man living a complicated life, who saw the good in everyone and made the most of every single day. A Celebration of Life tea will be held in his memory at 2:30pm on Dec. 27, 2003 in the Valley Room at the Emissaries of BC Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ian’s name to 100 Mile Search and Rescue. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Blair Main for his care and compassion, as well as the wonderful nursing staff at the 100 Mile Hospital. An extra special thank you goes to Home Health Care Nurses Anne Marie, Bev and May, not only for their excellent care, but for taking the time to make their visits enjoyable.

Trueit, Marina Joyce Sunday, 14 Dec 2003

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marina Trueit of Lac la Hache, who lost her long and courageous battle with cancer. Marina will live on in the hearts and memories of her loving husband, Clifford; their six children Sandra, Kim, Cliff, Wendy, Trevor and Tara; their 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as other family and friends. At her request, there will be no services but donations can be make to the Canuck’s Place Foundation in her name.

Hansen, Dwayne Friday, 12 Dec 2003
Dwayne was born on Oct. 19, 1945 in Prince Albert, Sask., and passed away Dec. 12, 2003 in 100 Mile House after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He is survived by his loving daughters: Nichole, Lisa (Jorge), Angela, Judy (Peter), Natalie (Jason), and Melissa. Also survived by his mother and father, Jean and Herb, brother Roy and sister Judy (Larry). He was known and loved by many and will be sadly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Dec. 17, 2pm at the 108 CCLF Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. 100 Mile Funeral Service in care of the funeral arrangements. 395-3243.

Holifer (nee Upson), Doreen Thursday, 11 Dec 2003
May 22, 1925 - Dec. 11, 2003
Born in London, England. Raised her family in Winnipeg. Spent the last 23 years of her life in 100 Mile House. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. No service was held. Her family would like to thank the staff at Fischer Place and 100 Mile House District General Hospital for the excellent care they provided.

Smith, Larry James Wednesday, 05 May 2004
1942 - 2004
With deepest sadness, we announce the passing of Larry Smith after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Larry leaves to mourn Marie, his wife of thirty years; his daughters Jennifer Koehler (Steven) and Gillian Martens (Jay) and granddaughter Taylor. He will also be deeply missed by his sister Doris Todd and brother John (Anne). His warm smile and willing hands will be missed by in-laws Marie Wainwright and Pat and Roger Graham; nieces Julie and Lisa Graham and nephews Derick and Daryle Todd as well as his may friends at Green Lake and in the Lower Mainland. Larry is pre-deceased by his parents Madeline and Bill Smith, and his first wife Phyllis (Stukle). Larry served his apprenticeship in jewelry manufacturing before buying “Collins Jewelers of Kerrisdale” which he operated from 1975 until his retirement in 2003. Larry was involved in his community wherever he lived or worked. He was a member of the Kerrisdale Masons and the South Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department as well as many social organizations. The family wishes to thank the Canadian Cancer Society and the doctors, nurses and staff if the hospital in 100 Mile House for their kindness and support. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held in Green Lake at the Snowmobile Clubhouse on June 13, 2004.

The family of the late Wilbur (Bill) Kieler extends an invitation to a graveside service on Fri., May 14 at 1:30 p.m. at 100 Mile Cemetery. Reception to follow at the 100 Mile Legion.

Cornet, John Anthony Monday, 03 May 2004
John was born June 10, 1964 and passed away May 3, 2004. John moved to 100 Mile at age 6 years, attended school and worked here. He was predeceased by his father David and brother Michael. John is survived by his mother Jean; brothers David and Tom; aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends. A graveside service was held on May 6, 2004 at 100 Mile House Cemetery officiated by Rev. Hilde Seal. Funeral arrangements by 100 Mile House Funeral Service.

Waterhouse, Terry Saturday, 01 May 2004
Died May 1, 2004 in Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Ont. He is the dearly loved son of Kathy Waterhouse of 100 Mile House, B.C.

Hartog, Martin Thursday, 22 Apr 2004
Passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2004 with family and friends by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Jean of 45 years; daughters Caroline (Vern) and Denise (Kirk); grand daughters Danika, Krystal, Netanya, Heather and one grandson Lynden. Martin was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, July 30, 1935. The family moved to Canada in 1952. In Vancouver he met and married Jean Mary McLellan, they moved to Kelowna in 1964. In 1980 they joined he World Relief Corp. and the family was moved to Europe, where Martin served for 21 years, including a few years at headquarters in Wheaton, Illinois. 2000 brought retirement and a move to 100 Mile House to be close to family. Memorial service was on April 27 at the 100 Mile House Baptist Church. Martin will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and for his commitment to helping others around the world who cannot help themselves. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to World Relief Corp., or the Canadian Cancer Society - Southern Interior Rotary Lodge.

Latimer, John Thomas Friday, 16 Apr 2004
Passed away peacefully at Mill Site Lodge April 16, 2004. He was predeceased by wife Jean and son Dan. Survived by sons Jim, Bill, Walter and Paul and by daughter Maureen (Puffer) and families: nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Tom was born in Glenboro, Manitoba on June 11, 1924; met and married wife Jean, raised six children and moved to 100 Mile House in April of 1978. Tom’s (Dad’s) sense of humour will be greatly missed by all. Service was held April 20, 2004 at 100 Mile House United Church officiated by Rev. Hilde Seal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer Society.
