Judith Pike
May 30, 1959 - December 31, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judi Pike of Kamloops, BC Judi passed away on December 31, 2011. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Don, her children Nicole (James) and Kristin (Jarryd), grandchildren Sydney, James and Robyn, parents Muriel (Marian) and Merv (deceased); siblings Ronni, Keith (Sharon), Stephen (Karen), and Ted (Janice), and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Judi was born on May 30, 1959 in Vancouver BC and grew up in Burnaby where she graduated from Alpha Secondary in 1977. Judi and Don were married in 1980 and moved to Kamloops a year later where they started their beautiful life together, Judi worked for Service Canada for over 25 years, becoming a great friend to so many. She was the perfect fan, you could hear her laughter at many sporting event, but her great joy was her family and seven years ago she became “Gamma” to her “Sweet Pea,” Sydney. Judi was known for her sense of humour and her wonderful ability to make things right, but most of all for her loud, joyful laughter. Judi was a wonderful beautiful person who is missed so much already and will be forever.

A Celebration of Judi’s life be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Vern Frudd officiating.

Donations in Judi’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 201-635 Victoria St., Kamloops BC V2C 2B3 or to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 1589 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 5V7.

Sophie Cummings
January 22, 1912 - January 8, 2012

Sophia Cummings passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8th, 2012 two weeks before her 100th Birthday. Born in Slovakia she immigrated with her mother Angelina Blysak to Golden B.C. in 1927. Sophia was predeceased by her husband Ellis Eugene Cummings on October 3, 1991. She is survived by her brother Edward Blysak (Barbara) of Golden, sisters –in-law Grace Rideout, Leona Grant, Shirley Grant (Ervine) all of New Brunswick, nephews Edwin Rideout (Arline), Stephen Grant (Sharon), nieces Irene Mottley, Elonra Rideout and Valerie Fougere.

Sophia has resided in Kamloops since 1975 and was a member of Catholic Women’s Leagues in Golden, Valemount and Kamloops since 1950 Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, January 13, 2012 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Prayers will be recited at 7:00 pm, on Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Cr., South, Kamloops BC V2E 2S9

Daphne Elaine Grove-White
September 10, 1925 - January 15, 2012

Daphne Elaine Grove-White (nee Burt) of Kamloops passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the age of 86 years.

She is survived by her sons Gregory (Sandi) of Victoria, Patrick, Stanley (Kathy) and Kerry (Christine) of Kamloops; daughter Maureen of Vernon; grandchildren Christopher, Allison, Aaron, John, Benjamin, Brianna and Kirsten; great grandchildren Ashley, Amy, Devon, Chloe and Caleb; great great grandchild Porter; sister Nora Bartman of Picton, Ont.; and brothers Ronald Burt of Sooke and Donald Burt of Sorrento as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles, son Vincent, parents Edmund and Beatrice Burt, brothers Les, Ivor, Harry and sister Alice “Babs.”

Daphne was born in R.I.H. and grew up on the ranch near Monte Lake. She joined the army at age 19 and later took a Rural Leadership course at UBC. She joined the B.C. Forest Service in 1948, married Charles in 1950, and left the forestry to raise a family in 1951. She worked very hard raising 6 children. She had a large garden and grew much of the fruit and vegetables for the family. She was a long-time member of the Society for the Mentally Handicapped.

Daphne always enjoyed the outdoors – hiking and mountain-climbing in her younger years and travelling and sight-seeing in her later years. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Dr, with Reverend Isabel Healy-Morrow officiating. Reception to follow.

Carl Oscar Lingren
August 11, 1933 - January 17, 2012

Our dad and grandfather, Carl Oscar Lingren, age 78, passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2012, with his family by his side.

Carl is survived by his loving children Harley (Phae) Lingren of Wetaskwin, AB, Norma (Calvin) Halladay of Thorsby, AB, Bonnie Benson of Spruce Grove, AB, Rod (Diane) Lingren of Monte Lake, BC, Terri (Andrew) Hansen of Kamloops, BC, Darla Lingren of Burnaby, BC, and Karla Lingren of Comox, BC; his special grandchildren Cortney, Lacey, Aleysa, Sheldon, Hailey, Saul, Elijah, Taelar, Rebekah, Hannah, and Malloree; his siblings William (Betty) Lingren, Bert (Hilda) Lingren, and Charlie (Norma) Lingren; great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Elene Lingren and his sisters Rose Lingren and Jessie Bunting.

Carl was born the 3rd of 6 children who inherited the legacy of being one of the first families to settle in the Pinantan area. He grew up in the farming and logging industry. His lifetime career was working alongside his brother Willie in W. Lingren Logging.

He valued the bonds he had with his numerous friends. Another of his favorite pastimes was supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities.

Loads of Love

Carl’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012, at 1:00 at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive.

Our family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to his nurses and doctors and the staff at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to recognize the Kamloops Cancer Agency (RIH 8th floor) and Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home.

Ronald “Ron” Paul Kopytko
February 13, 1967 - January 21, 2012

Ron lost his battle to cancer with his family by his side on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the age of 44 years. He wanted everyone to know that he will miss you all and that he left 'kicking and screaming.' Ron will be forever remembered by his loving wife Leann, his 15 year old son Jake, his 11 year old daughter Alyssa. Parents Jim and Bev; brothers Darren (Taura), Chad (Melanie), special aunt Pearl (Bruce), mother in law Jean, brothers in-law Jerry (Linda), Kevin (Tracy), sisters in-law Pat (Don) and Dianne, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many more relatives and friends who were all so important in his life.

Ron's determination, love of life, family, friends and community helped him turn a 12 month diagnosis into 64 months of love. His battle with prostate cancer was fought fiercely and courageously and was an inspiration to us all. Ron taught us many things, never give up despite the odds, lead with a gentle heart, and to pay attention to things that matter "big or small."

Even in the muddy waters, the lotus flowers and blooms......

A Celebration of Love and Light will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 pm in the Calvary Community Church, 1205 Rogers Way, with Pastor Darren Donas officiating.

Sergio Ivano Bezze
September 22, 1930 - January 21, 2012

Sergio Bezze passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2012 with his wife and family by his side at the Royal Inland Hospital at the age of 81 years.

He was predeceased by his mother, Maria; father, Sante and brother, Franco. He is survived by his loving wife, Pia; daughters, Patricia Anthony (Colin), Julie Boorman (Gordon), Ellina Wilkins and 4 grandchildren: Carmen, Elisa, Andrew and Jacob. He is also survived by his sisters; Bruna Peluso (Nick) of Revelstoke, B.C ; Esterina Toffanin; Rafaela Bezze of Vicenza, Italy; and several nieces and nephews.

Sergio was born on September 22, 1930 in Vicenza, Italy. As a young boy and teenager, he witnessed hardship and hunger during World War II. After the war, Sergio trained as an autobody repairman and designed a motorcyle gas tank that was used by a motor vehicle company. At the age of 25, he came to Canada. In 1958, he returned to Vicenza, to marry his wife, Pia and convinced her to move to Canada. They were married for 53 years. In 1962, Sergio and Pia started R&S Auto body in Dawson Creek, B.C. In 1972, they moved their family and business to Kamloops, BC and retired after 28 years.

Sergio was a passionate fisherman and outdoorsman. He also designed and built his riverboats. Many friends and family recall fantastic adventures with him. He embraced life with a great love of fishing, gardening and Italian cooking. Sergio’s sense of humour, kindness, zest for life and love for his family will be treasured.

The family wishes to thank the ICU doctors, nurses, and staff at the Royal Inland Hospital for their professionalism and kindness.

Prayers will be held at the Holy Family Parish on Sunday, January 29th at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 30th at 11am with the Reverend Father Fred Weisbeck Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Lung Foundation or ICU Dept at Royal Inland Hospital Kamloops, BC.

Walda Amanda Wood
December 7, 1924 - March 20, 2008

Walda Amanda Wood of Kamloops passed away peacefully on March 20, 2008 at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home with her family by her side. She is survived by Bev (Doug) Kuzmiuk of Kamloops BC and Doug (Shelley) Wood of Kamloops BC; grandchildren Jordan, Nicholas, and Emmarie; her siblings Clara Ertman, Alfred (Mary) Kublik, Doris (Paul) Breitkriutz, Melvin (Pat) Kublik, and Lawrence (Lil) Kublik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Henry and Emma Kublik, brothers Albert Kublik and Edwin Kublik and her brother in-law Arthur Ertman.

Mom was born on December 7, 1924 in New Sarepta Alberta. She was raised on a farm and left home in 1944 to pick berries in the Fraser Valley, moving to Kamloops in 1948. Mom loved to garden and spent many hours canning. Most of all Mom loved to have family dinners – her cabbage rolls, dill pickles and pies will never be duplicated!

Special thanks to Dr. Victor DeKock, Dr. Beale & Brandy, the Community Home Care Nurses and home Support Aides, and the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with the Very Reverend Louise Peters officiating.

Viewing will take place prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home.

Marion Covey
November 7, 1930 - January 30, 2012

Marion Laurenna Covey of Kamloops, BC passed away peacefully at Royal lnland Hospital on January 30, 2012 at the age of 81.

She is survived by her loving daughters Bernadine (Bunny) of Kamloops, BC and Caryl Covey and son-in-law Kerry Wallace of Calgary, AB; grandchildren David (Sandy) Brown, Candice (Alan) Bruinsma, Asia Longphee, Jamie Wallace and Michael Wallace; great grandchildren James, Jordan and Hailey Brown, Caleb and Hadassah Bruinsma and Francesca (Franki) George; sisters Marg Norris & Muriel McGuire, brothers Don (Helen) Powell, Graham (Brenda) Powell and Gene (Rita) Powell and many wonderful friends and acquaintances.

Marion moved to Kamloops from Ontario in 1948 and met her husband (Albert) Ralph Covey at a blind date New Years Eve of 1948. Marion was predeceased by Ralph (2003) after 52 wonderful years together. Marion worked at the cannery, Woolworths, the Plaza Hotel and finally Sears, retiring in 1988. Marion and Ralph found joy fishing and camping around BC. She especially delighted in hummingbirds and loved the flowers and fruit produced in her garden. Marion loved talking with people, setting the city council straight, and had a tremendous sense of humour. She valued honesty, integrity, hard work, family and love, which was amplified in the way she lived her life. lt is hard to imagine the hole she leaves ever healing, though are grateful for having her in our lives, for her counsel and love, and we will forever treasure the special times.

As per her request there will be no public service. Donations to the Kamloops SPCA or the Heart and Lung Foundation in memory of Marion would be welcomed.
