TROTMAN, John Hugh - Sunday, 23 Jan 2005
John Hugh Trotman passed away on January 23, 2005 at Chilliwack, BC at age 71 years. He was born November 2, 1933 in Vancouver, BC.
John is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Michael (Kelly), Robert (Sue), Mary-Ann (Kenny), Sheri-Ann (Mike); grandchildren, Crystal, Carmen, Deanne, Kristine, Erin, Alayna and Laura, great grandchildren, Gillian and Brennan; sisters, Helen, June (Andy) and Lorraine; brother Art and many other family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Bertram and Mary Elizabeth Trotman and his first wife Arlene Ann Trotman.
John and Rose liked to travel to Yuma, Arizona in the winter. He especially enjoyed the special times spent with his grandchildren and family and friends. John was a member of the Elks Club. He will be deeply missed by all.
Memorial Services were held on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 10:30 am from Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, BC.
If so desired, remembrances may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society in John’s name.
TELFORD (nee Galloway), Marie Magdelene - Sunday, 23 Jan 2005
Passed into the presence of her Lord at age 84, on January 23, 2005 while in Chilliwack General Hospital. Mom was born on June 7, 1920 in Vancouver, BC.
She was predeceased by her husband Norman, her brothers Nick and Walter Galloway, and granddaughter Jacquie.
She will be missed by her son Trevor (Wendy), grandchildren Stephen, Bradley, and Tammy-Jean; daughter Gail Telford, grandchildren Jeffrey, Shayne, Bobbi-Jo, and Leeland; daughter Marilyn (Roy) Lear, grandchildren Christine and Shelley; 5 great grandchildren and many friends and relatives.
Mom and Dad moved to Sardis from Sydney on Vancouver Island, 8 years ago. Mom lived a very full and eventful life, which included many years of motorcycle riding along side Dad, and like her husband “Wild Willie” she was a lifetime member of the Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club.

TAYLOR, Albert Edward - Monday, 24 Jan 2005
Albert Edward Taylor born August 13, 1933 in Rosemount, Quebec, passed away very suddenly after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, at Chilliwack General Hospital on January 24, 2005.
He is survived by his loving wife Lois, of 49 years; son Bill (Deana), grandson Max; and daughter Cheryl (Norman), granddaughter Heather and grandson Darrell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church, 46098 Higginson Rd., Chilliwack. Reverend Dale Yardy officiating.
Refreshments to follow at Cottonwood Retirement Village, Gate 3 - 7610 Evans Rd., Chilliwack.
The family would especially like to thank all the doctors and nurses in Chilliwack General Hospital’s Emergency Department and Palliative Care Unit for all their care and support while he was in hospital.

KORT, Klaas - Sunday, 23 Jan 2005
Klaas Kort, late of Norman Manor, Chilliwack and formerly of McSween Road, passed away on January 23, 2005 at the Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 92 years. He was born September 19, 1912 in Zeerijp, Gronigen, The Netherlands and lived in the area for 17 years.
Klaas immigrated to Canada with his family in 1949 to Beeton, Ontario. In 1957 he bought his own farm in Shanty Bay, Ontario and was there until 1987. On his retirement they came to Chilliwack. He loved gardening, reading and especially fishing in the Fraser River. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Klaas is survived by son Albert (Henny) of Barrie, Ont., daughter Margaret (Vic) Triemstra of Chilliwack, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 sisters in Holland.
He was predeceased by his wife of almost 63 years in 2000, one daughter in 1944, one daughter-in-law in 1972 and 6 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at 11 am at the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Carel Geleynse officiating. Interment at the Chilliwack Cemeteries.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CRWRC World Relief Fund or a charity of your choice.

GIBSON, Mary Eileen - Wednesday, 12 Jan 2005
Mary Eileen Gibson passed away in Chilliwack on January 12, 2005. She was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan on November 21, 1913.
She became a registered nurse and served in several hospitals including Shaughnessy Hospital during World War II. She married Maurice Gibson and they lived an active life in Boston Bar until Maurice’s death.
Some time later Mary moved to Chilliwack and served for many years as a faithful volunteer at the Red Cross Equipment Loan Service. She was a member of the Field Naturalists and of the Friends of the Library.
She is survived by her sister Fanny and a nephew as well as by a number of relatives in England.
No service by request. Cremation to take place at Valley Crematorium in Chilliwack.
CONTANT, Hélène - Monday, 24 Jan 2005
Hélène passed away peacefully on January 24, 2005 in Chilliwack, with her husband Don and her daughter Sylvie at her side.
Hélène was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec City on December 13, 1960 and grew up in Quebecc City, where she went on to complete a B.Sc. at Laval University. Moving west, she continued her studies at the University of British Columbia and earned an M.Sc. in Plant Science in 1988.
After her marriage to Don Quiring of Vancouver on October 12, 1985 the couple settled in Chilliwack, and both worked at the Agriculture Canada research station in Agassiz. In 1990 their infant daughter Sylvie joined the family.
Beyond career and motherhood, Hélène was involved in many of the ministries and activities of Broadway Church. There she initiated and participated in the sponsorship of two refugee families. She also undertook annual fundraising for cystic fibrosis research. Her family and friends remember her vibrant faith in Christ, her generous concern for others, her willingness to work, and her cheerful disposition.
Hélène is survived by her husband Don Quiring, daughter Sylvie, parents Monique Blanchard and Pierre Contant, brother François, and sister Anne.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Broadway Church, 46611 Maple Ave., Chilliwack, with pastors Wilf Richert and Gary Simpson participating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hélène’s memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee Refugee Assistance, or to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
SODEMANN, Neta - Friday, 26 Dec 2003
Neta Sodemann born on July 22, 1909 in the Ukraine, Russia, quietly passed away - Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
Neta is survived by her daughters, Heather Sodemann and Liesel (Ken) Briggs; grandchildren, Rosemarie Briggs and Bernard (Lyndsey) Briggs; and great-granddaughters, Taylor and McKenzie Briggs.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at the Valleyview Cemetery, Agassiz at 11 a.m.

Miss Loreena Strohmaier late of Chilliwack, B.C. passed away December 26, 2003 at the age of 72 years. She was born in Trochu, Alberta on March 23, 1931.
Loreena was a member of the White Cane Club.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Elmer Martin officiating. Interment at Chilliwack Cemeteries.
She is survived by 4 sisters; Caroline Stansel of Kelowna; Freda Buckles of Vegreville, AB; Evelyn Mostrey of New Westminster; Lona Lloyd of Anaheim, California; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Christian and Magdelene ; 2 sisters Olita and Magdelene and 4 brothers; Fred, John, Walter and Edward.

SCHWEGLER (nee Eisinger), Rosa Anna - Monday, 22 Dec 2003
Rosa Anna Schwegler (nee Eisinger) peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord on Dec. 22, 2003 at the age of 94 years at MSA Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. She was born on Feb. 21, 1909 in Vienna, Austria.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Henk Schwegler; daughters: Rose (Leo) Bravo, and Anna Marie (Natalino) Zasso. She will also be missed by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1985; brother, Hans Eisinger; and grandson, Roy Schwegler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church at 33333 Mayfar Ave., Abbotsford, with Father Glenn Dion officiating.

FORSTER, Fred - Sunday, 21 Dec 2003
Fred Forster, late of Chilliwack, B.C., passed away Dec. 21, 2003 at the age of 90. Fred was born on June 11, 1913 in Herbert, SK, and moved to Chilliwack, along with his wife, Mildred, in 1948.
Fred and Mildred had three children, Yvonne, Gary and Dwight.
Fred was survived by his son, Gary; daughter, Yvonne (Eginolf), grandchildren: Dwight, Ilona, Sonya, Lee and Dave; and six grandchildren: Daniel, Matthew, Joshua, Sarah, Benjamin and Emily.
Fred was a loving family man, who was retired from York Farms. He was best knows for his loving devotion to his wife, Mildred, and his love for his family.
Fred will be missed dearly, and will always be fondly remembered for his gentleness and his ability to bring a smile to everyone around him.
A memorial service will be held for Fred at 2:00 p.m. - Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at Willingdon Church in Burnaby (4812 Willingdon Ave., Burnaby, BC, tel: 604-435-5544).

LEON, Roland Maynard “Sesaylowet” - Sunday, 21 Dec 2003
Roland Maynard Leon “Sesaylowet” passed away on Dec. 21, 2003 at Chilliwack, B.C. at age 63 years. He was born in Chehalis, B.C.
Roland is survived by his wife, Rita; children: Verna, Curtis and Aaron; grandchildren: Jody, Christopher, Jenessa; great-grandchild: Gabriel; and father: James Leon.
He was predeceased by his mother, Minnie Leon; son, Marlon Leon; siblings, Wilfred Leon, James Leon, baby Leon, Sadie Camero and Doreen Pennier.
A viewing for family and friends was held on Dec. 23, 2003 at the Leon residence.
A Funeral Service was held on Dec. 24, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chehalis Community Longhouse with Burial at the Chehalis Cemetery.
DYKSTRA, Audrey Felicity - Saturday, 20 Dec 2003
Audrey Felicity Dykstra passed away suddenly at the age of 80 on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003. She was born Oct. 27, 1923 in Manchester, England.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bodie, in 1983. Audrey lived in Winnipeg, where she arrived as war bride, for 50 years.
For the last six years, she lived in Chilliwack.
She is lovingly remembered by her three children: Russel of Fresno, CA, Marilyn of Chilliwack, BC, and Wilfred of Winnipeg, MB; and seven grandchildren.

NORMAN, Howard Frederick - Saturday, 20 Dec 2003
Howard Frederick Norman passed away on December 20, 2003 at the age of 89 years. He was born and raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and served in the RCAF. He moved to Chilliwack in 1952.
Howard owned and operated an auto repair and servicing business in Brandon, Manitoba and later in Chilliwack. He was an active curler and bowler in the area.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 1966 and is survived by his long time companion Muriel Taylor, his daughter Dorothy, grandchildren Shelleen and Cory and great grandchildren Taylor and Jack. He will be sadly missed by all.
Interment at the Royal Canadian Legion Cemetery in Chilliwack. If friends and family so desire, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
