In Loving Memory
Lorraine Cecilia Armstrong passed away - Friday, July 6, 2007 at Chilliwack General Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving husband George, her four sons and daughter-in-laws. After a lengthy illness she quietly slipped away into the arms of her loving savior.
Lorraine was born September 11, 1938 in Comox, Vancouver Island. At the age of thirteen her family moved to the farming community of Rosedale, BC where she met and later married George Armstrong. Together they started their gravel business and raised their four sons.
Lorraine was known for her beautiful smile and warm and generous heart. Her gift of hospitality was evident to all who entered her home. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. After retirement she discovered she had a flare for gardening, even winning first prize for a floral arrangement at the fair.
However, nothing gave her more joy than reaching out to her community, her church, her family and friends with encouraging words, homemade pies and always with a prayer. For over seventeen years Lorraine volunteered with Chilliwack Hospice Society and considered it to be the greatest honor and privilege. Countless hours were spent at hospital bedsides, wiping fevered brows, offering sips of water and whispering words of comfort.
“Many women do noble things but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:29
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your bed to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
Go rest high on that mountain
Daughter, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin’
Love for the Father and Son

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Roderick & Vada Selfe, father-in-law Joseph Armstrong and grandson “baby” Jarrett Armstrong.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, George Armstrong; sons Brian (Brandi) Armstrong, Bruce (Tena) Armstrong, Barry (Sheila) Armstrong and Brad Armstrong; grandchildren Ashley (Jarrett) Vaughan, Luke Armstrong, Amber Armstrong, Stephanie, Chris Dahl, Cody Armstrong, Ken Armstrong, Krena Armstrong; brother Jim (Sharon) Selfe from Shuswap, B.C.; sister Corrine Simmons from Nanaimo, B.C.; sister Melissa (Ed) Woolrich from Prince George, B.C.

Thank you to Dr. Brodie and staff for all their support and care during her illness. A heartfelt thank you on behalf of George and the boys to the many friends, neighbors and family members who uplifted Lorraine during her illness. The home cooked meals, the quiet visits and especially your prayers were greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
