FRASER, Eleanor - Wednesday, 24 Nov 2004
Eleanor Fraser passed away on November 24, 2004 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 87 years. She was born on October 26, 1917 at Vita, Manitoba.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Sonia Sonntag and Carole Mason; sisters, Janice Gordienko, Marge Moran, Anita Demitrioff, Kathy Cox and brother, Adam Kowalsky; grandchildren Garth, Maureen, Debbie, Lea, Fraser, Jamie and Scott.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert James Fraser.
For many years Eleanor owned and operated “Stitch and Sew” in Chilliwack, where she enjoyed serving her many customers and friends. After retiring, she moved to Oakburn, Manitoba and lived amongst some of her lifelong friends from childhood. She returned to Chilliwack four years ago to care for her youngest daughter, Carole.
We will always remember her for her kindness and thoughtfulness. We will miss her hearty laugh and gentle smile.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4,2004 at 10:00 am from Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave. Chilliwack.

DUNN, Christine McLeod - Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004
Christine Dunn passed away at the Chilliwack General Hospital on November 23, 2004 at the age of 89 years. She was born in Dalmellington, Scotland on March 12, 1915.
Christine is survived by two sons; Ron (Gail) Finlay of Ladysmith and Brian (Marlene) Finlay of Delta, six grandchildren; Jeff, Ryan, Stacey, Cheryl, Greg and Melissa, three great grandchildren, Peyton, Taylor and Emily and one sister, Margaret Clayton of Brampton, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her husband James in 1985.
No Services will be held. In Christine’s honour, donations may be made by friends and family to the CNIB.

ARMSTRONG, Martha Agnes - Saturday, 09 Jun 2007
At Bradley Extended Care Centre, Chilliwack, on June 9, 2007 at the age of 88. Born in Winnipeg, MB. Daughter of the late Frederick Earnest Armstrong and Mary Hill (Ramsey) McKie. Beloved wife of the late Robert Douglas Careter (1933).
Predeceased by her brother, Thomas Armstrong (1993), and her sister, Margaret O’Connor (205). Dearly loved by nieces: Robin O’Connor (Pat Copps), CA, and Maureen Chandler (Keith) Chatham; nephews: Rod (Diane Chatham), and Richard (Amber Leeson) O’Connor, (Calgary); and great-nephews, Craig and Kevin O’Connor, and Caise Chandler (Julie Fair).
Ages worked for the Douglas Aircraft company during WWII and later with the T. Eaton Co. in Winnipeg. She met Bob through her brother Tom before the war, but they did not marry until 1962 after Bob mustered out of the Royal Canadian Navy. They set up house in Haney, where Bob worked at Haney Correctional, Maple Ridge and finally Chilliwack. She was a member of the Branch #88 Royal Canadian Legion and Discovery.
As per Nan’s wishes, there will be a private family service and cremation, and interment with her beloved Bob.
Donations can be given to the Diabetes Foundation or a charity of your choice.

McKELLAR, Delores - Saturday, 18 Oct 2003
Delores McKellar passed away on October 18, 2003 at the Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 82 years. She was born in Pincher Creek, Alta. October 29, 1920.
Delores enjoyed gardening and reading, especially science fiction novels.
She is survived by her husband Malcolm; two sons, Jamie on Gabriola Island, and Rod (June) of Chilliwack; five granddaughters, Robyn, Shelley, Alia, Angela and Devon; two great-grandchildren, Malcolm and Hope; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and sister-in-law Effie Peplow of Osoyoos.
She was predeceased by her brother Clive.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Henderson’s Tea Room on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.
Donations may be made in Delores’ name to the Canadian Cancer Society.

WOOTTON, Robert Arthur - Friday, 17 Oct 2003
Robert Arthur (Bob) Wootton went to be with his Lord on October 17, 2003 at the age of 76 years. He leaves his devoted wife of 53 years, Anne; his three daughters, Daryl-Lynne (Karl) Warkentin, Debbie (Dell) Remple, Dawn (Dave) Webb; two sons, Daniel (Mary) and David (Carolyn) Wootton; 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Bob worked for Chilliwack Dairy and then for F.V.M.P.A. for 15 years. After which he worked at his trade as a carpenter. Bob was a quiet hard worker and was known to many as Mr. Fix It. He loved his family deeply and his grandchildren were very special to him. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ellen Wootton; his sisters, Frances and Dorothy; and brothers Wally, Charlie and Ernie. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 24 at 1:00 pm. at the First Avenue Christian Assembly with Pastor Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Life Outreach Int. P.O. Box 4000 Langley, B.C. V3A 8J8 would be appreciated.

BRAIDWOOD (Breckenridge), Beth Irene - Thursday, 16 Oct 2003
Beth Irene Braidwood passed away on Thursday, October 16 2003 in Sardis, B.C. at the age of 77 years. She was born on April 29, 1926 in Inglis, Manitoba.
Beth is survived by her husband of 53 years, Peter; three daughters, Sheila (Brian) Clarke of Calgary, Susan Braidwood (John Eaton) of Toronto, and Mary Beth Grenier of Sardis; two sons, John (Colleen) and Tom (Kathy); nine grandchildren, Heather, Meghan, Christopher, Kathleen, Mark-Andre, Jennifer, Shawn, Ashley, Amanda and Riley; and one great grandchild, Beth. Beth is also fondly remembered by her dear friends, Opal McFarlane and Marvel Sadler, as well as her cousins, extended family and many friends.
Beth was an only child and was raised on the small town of Inglis, Manitoba. After high school, she moved to Winnipeg to study nursing, graduating as an RN from St. Boniface Hospital, in 1948.
She and Peter met when Beth was 15 years old and Peter had just arrived in Canada from Scotland. They were married in 1950 and lived in Winnipeg, Calgary and Chilliwack, as Peter was in the military. During the years spent in Winnipeg and Calgary, they made many life long friends whom they enjoyed visiting on vacation.
Beth’s life centered around her family and her home. She was a talented seamstress and knitter. She grew beautiful African Violets that always seemed to be in bloom. She loved going camping with family and we have many wonderful memories of those fun times. Mom could always be counted on to support her family in every way and she will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Village and Parkholm for their tender care of Beth during the past six years, and to also thank Connie and Kay, for taking their time to visit Mom, even though she could not always acknowledge their presence.
In lieu of flowers, should family and friends so desire, donations in Beth’s memory may be made to the Parkinson Society of British Columbia, 600-890 West Pender Street Vancouver, B.C.

JANTZEN, Ervin - Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003
Ervin Jantzen passed away October 14, 2003 in Prince George, at the age of 69 years. He was born July 25, 1934 in Yarrow.
He was predeceased by both of his parents, Peter and Elizabeth Jantzen; also by his brother Peter Jantzen in 1999.
Ervin is survived by his four sons, Garry, Leslie, Steve (Kim), and Patrick (Shelley); one daughter Brenda (Kevin); 11 grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and wife Gloria.
Funeral services will be held - Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at the M.B. Church, 41995 Yarrow Central Road at 11 a.m. Pastor Randy Hein officiating. Interment in the Yarrow Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church hall.
Dad, we loved you just the way you were.

JOHNER, June Helen - Monday, 13 Oct 2003
June Helen Johner passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2003 at Heritage Village at age 82 years. She was born September 2, 1921 in Vancouver.
June is survived by her husband Peter; sons, Larry and Michael; daughters, Donna, Linda, Colleen, and Diane; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Vedder View Gardens Cemetery, 44675 Watson Rd. Pastor Tim Rowan officiating. A reception will follow at the Clubhouse, Country Park Village, 45918 Knight Rd., Chilliwack.

PICKARD, Anita Maria - Sunday, 12 Oct 2003
Anita Maria Pickard born November 8, 1917 in Brighton, England, passed away October 12, 2003 in Chilliwack.
Predeceased by her husband Oliver (Jerry) in March 2000.
Survived by her son Robert (Sherrie); daughters, Carole and Dorothy (Ian); along with nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
No service by request.

BRAUN, Darlene Fay - Friday, 10 Oct 2003
Fay passed away suddenly and peacefully at MSA Hospital on October 10th at the age of 57 years. Fay was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1946 and spent most of her life in the Lower Mainland (Chilliwack). During her final hours, she was comforted with her children and husband by her side.
Fay is survived by her husband John Samuel, 2 daughters, Brenda Penn of Hope and Michelle Hunter of Chilliwack, 1 son Mel Braun of Abbotsford, 5 grandchildren Nicole, Beverly, Sean, Justine and Alex and 2 great grandchildren. Her father Ted Watson, brother Ed Watson and 2 sisters, Jane Solowan and Gloria Gautier, also survive her.
Fay is predeceased by her mother Verna Watson in 1994.
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care staff at MSA for all their help.

JOY, Kenneth Robert - Friday, 10 Oct 2003
Kenneth Robert Joy late of Boston Bar, B.C. passed away October 10, 2003 in Hope, B.C. at the age of 76 years. He was born July 15, 1927 in Toronto, Ontario.
Ken was a resident of Boston Bar for approximately 40 years. He owned and operated Joy Logging for 40 years.
A private family cremation service will be held at a later date.
Ken is survived by his wife, Christine and 1 daughter, Amanda Joy of Vancouver, B.C.
Should family and friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon.

FERBEY, Walter Morris (Wally) - Thursday, 09 Oct 2003
Walter Morris (Wally) Ferbey, born in Edmonton, Alta. August 25, 1930, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2003 in Abbotsford, after suffering a recent stroke.
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jean; his children, David, Debbie (Dawson), Dean, and Darren; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Sasha, Dustin, Dane, Amy, Cody, and Stephanie.
Wally will be greatly missed by family and friends who shared his life and the joy he created with his warmth, compassion, generosity and fatherly presence.
Words cannot express how much we will miss you. You were taken from us much too soon. Barbecues will never be the same without you.

BAILEY (nee Phillips), Ethel May - Wednesday, 20 Oct 2004
In loving memory of Ethel May Bailey (nee Phillips) born on October 6, 1919 in Kincaid Sask. Passed away peacefully in Chilliwack General Hospital, with family by her side, on October 20, 2004.
Predeceased by her loving husband John, June 28, 1944.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters Etta Richmond (Al), Beverley Tecklenborg (Joe), and her son John Bailey (Marja), brother Bert Phillips (Norma), as well as all her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and many friends in Vancouver and Chilliwack and especially Frankie, her guardian angel.
After being diagnosed with Cancer, Ethel made the most of every day and every hour of her last year. Her weekly Scrabble games with close friends brought great joy to her life as did her volunteering with the Hospital Auxillary.
She was married to John Bailey in Prince Albert, Sask. in 1940, where their children were born. After three short years of marriage, she tragically lost her husband in an airplane accident. She was left to raise the three babies on her own in a home of little money, but lots of love. In order to support her family, she moved to B.C. and worked in Vancouver.
Ethel retired to Chilliwack in 1983 to be near her family and to care for Meghan, the light of her life, so Etta could go back to work. She went everywhere with the family and especially loved her trips to Hawaii.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday Oct. 27 at 1:00 at Carman United Church, Rev. Michael Hare officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chilliwack Hospice Society would be welcomed.

WINKLES, Audrey Myrtle - Monday, 25 Oct 2004
Audrey Myrtle Winkles late of Chilliwack, passed away peacefully in her home with her family at her side Monday, October 18, 2004 after a brief illness.
Audrey lived a full and eventful life. After being born in Kenville, Man. and living through the depression Audrey moved to the Fraser Valley in 1938. Audrey married Bill Britton in 1939 and had six children; Gerry (Sonia), Bonnie (Dick), Darby, Laurie (Al), Neil (Janice), Rod (Kat). Audrey enjoyed her many grand- and great-grandchildren and loved them all. She remarried in 1967.
She spent many wonderful years with her second husband, Wallace Winkles, who passed away in 1999. They enjoyed a great life visiting and traveling. They were avid Bridge players and met many new friends through their Bridge adventures.
Audrey worked at the Coqualeetza Hospital and spent over 15 years with Eatons. She was an avid sports fan who loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Toronto Blue-Jays. She was a prodigious knitter.
Memorial Services were held for Audrey at 2:30 PM on Thursday, Oct. 21 from the chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home in Chilliwack with Reverend Doug Ireland Officiated. A reception followed from the Tea Room at Henderson’s.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association of British Columbia 102-317 Columbia St., New Westminster, BC V3L 1A7.
