KINNEE - Roger R. Passed away suddenly May 17, 1999. Survived by his parents Mina and Jim Nichol, daughter Brynn (Graham) Clark in Australia, brothers Dale (Ev), Wayne (Marie), sister Elizabeth, nieces and nephews and many friends. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Roger's "Spirit for Life " to the Juvenille Diabetic Association. Service Saturday, May 22, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. at Boal Chapel, North Vancouver.

KENDALL - Violet Rosemary (Molly). Passed away May 14, 1999 after a long illness. A patient sufferer at rest. Survived by her loving son Gene, sisters Norma and Suzanne, New Zealand. Service held on Friday, May 21, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 1360 East 24th St, North Vancouver.

BAKER - Dr. Lynn James. A longtime resident of the North Shore. Passed away suddenly, at the age of 53, on Tuesday, May 11, 1999 in Moose Jaw, Sask. Lynn was predeceased by his father Russell. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children: Kari Hall, Lori (Sherman) Scott and Kimberly Baker, their mother Sue Baker, and granddaughter Ashley Scott, all of Vancouver; his mother Winnifred of Moose Jaw; two sisters: Marlene (Glenn) Cameron of Calgary and Brenda (Forbes) Finlayson of Maple Ridge; one brother Warren (Brigitta) of Saskatoon; and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held in Moose Jaw on Friday, May 14, 1999, with interment at Rosedale Cemetery.

KARRAN - Linda (nee Escott) of Anahim Lake, B.C. Passed away on Friday, April 23, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service was held May 7, 1999 in the Anahim Lake Community Hall

MORRISON - John Taylor (Jack). November 7, 1922 - May 14, 1999 Predeceased by son Charles and granddaughter Jamie. Survived by wife Nina; sons John (Jan), Ian (Sherrie) and Gregory; daughters Marlys (Steve Holmes) and Wendy (David Elliott); ten grandchildren: Megan Morrison, Tara, Lauren and Troy Holmes, Carl and Dana Morrison, Kristen, Eric, Jaclyn and Garth Elliott; sister Gena Lewis; nephew Gordon; niece Barbara. Jack worked in supervisory and production manager positions at Port Alice and Woodfibre pulp mills for 35 years. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. BONE - Ronald Martin. Age 75. Born Vancouver, November 17, 1923. Died May 8, 1999 in Lions Gate Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Predeceased by brother Robert. Survived by loving wife Eileen; children, Larry (Shirley), Cheryl (John), Rob (Shelley); grandchildren, Debbie, Martin, Derek, Joel; and sister Brenda. Ron was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy 1941-1968, Wentworth Lodge #108 Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Royal Canadian Legion Br. #60, Chief Petty Officers Association, Victoria, B.C.; Vancouver Naval Vets. Association. A service will be held at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 885 - 22nd St, West Vancouver, B.C. 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 1999. Survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Gerald; sons Gary, of Liverpool, Nova Scotia; and Ken (Beverly) of Victoria, B.C.; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; brother Reno; sister Stella; and many nieces and nephews. POND - Kaitlyn Eva. Born on Mother's Day, May 11, 1997. Passed away May 3, 1999 in her mother's arms. In that brief time Kaitlyn created joy in our hearts and was loved by family and friends. We will treasure that joy and her memory always while we struggle forever with the empty hole her departure tore in our hearts. Kaitlyn is survived by her mother Heather Chisholm; her father Lee Pond; 3 brothers Nicholas, Tyler and Nathan Pond of Naniamo; grandparents Madeleine Chisholm of West Vancouver, Gordon Chisholm, Leon and Francoise Pond of Vancouver. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at 3106 - 107th St, Nanaimo, followed by a celebration of her short life. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers we request that donations be sent to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital or the B.C. Children's Hospital.

BEST - Margaret Helen (nee Johnston). Died peacefully surrounded in love by her family at Evergreen House, North Vancouver, on May 7, 1999. Margaret was born during an air raid on June 3, 1917 in London, England and was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. With her loving husband, Donald, she lived in many places in Canada, the United States and New Zealand. She spent the last 25 years with much of her family in Vancouver. Margaret had many passions over the course of her 82 years. She loved art, travel, theatre, her garden and throughout her life was an avid reader. Of her many accomplishments she was most proud of her Honours degree in Art History. Beginning her university career at 52 and graduating at age 60, she received her degree from the University of Western Michigan after attending classes in Michigan, the University of Oregon and the University of British Columbia. Notwithstanding her artistic achievements, Margaret would concede that her most courageous battle was with the game of golf. Margaret is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald, and her five children: Suzanne Duke (Gary), Maureen Smith, Peter Best (Pat), Rosalind Best (Albert), and Mary Lee Best (Bob). She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and her sister, Iris, in Los Angeles. She was recently predeceased by her brother, Jim Johnston, of New Westminster. A memorial service for Margaret will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Ave., West Vancouver, B.C. Donations may be made in Margaret's memory to The Evergreen House, c/o Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, North Vancouver, B.C.

Also survived by sisters Mae Butcher and Phylis Woodward. Predeceased by her brother Jim (La veda) Sommen, sisters Barb and Etta. Nancy was raised in Trail, and was a longtime resident of the Sunshine Coast and North Vancouver. Service celebrating Nancy's life to be held on Friday, May 14, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Seymour United Church, 1200 Parkgate, North Vancouver, B.C. Those wishing to donate to a charity of their choice, greatfully appreciated.

SLIGHT - Irene Helen. Born Vancouver, January 28, 1927. Passed away May 10, 1999. Survived by brothers Gordon (Carol) and Doug (Elaine); 5 nephews and nieces; 5 great-nephews and nieces; and many close friends. Celebration of Irene's life to be held at St. David's United Church, 1525 Taylor Way, West Vancouver on Friday, May 14, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Society or charity of choice would be appreciated. CAMPBELL - Lilian. Born South Shields, England, 1934. Passed away at Lions Gate Hospital on May 9, 1999. Survived by her loving husband Jim; three sons: Stephen (Pam), Keith (Carol), Kevin (Liana); and daughter Yvonne (Dave); and 5 grandchildren. Memorial Service to be held Friday, May 14, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. at the Boal Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by family.
Brian had true a passion for life
and lived each day to the fullest.

THORPE - Brian, co-founder and CEO of Albchem Industries, devoted husband and father, died suddenly of cardiac arrest on Saturday, May 8, 1999. Born April 5, 1942 in Vancouver, B.C., he attended the University of British Columbia where he was an active member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and where in 1965, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Brian pursued his career as a Professional Engineer holding several executive positions in the Chemical Industry. He was a member of the Associations of Professional Engineers of both B.C. and Alberta. In 1991, Brian and fellow entrepreneur Ernie Pearson made a lifelong dream become a reality when they created Albchem Industries. Under Brian's leadership, this Bruderheim Alberta based company has now grown to become the leading, low cost producer of Sodium Chlorate in North America. Always extremely concerned with the welfare of his employees and their families, he took great pride in the continued growth and success of Albchem.
Brian's professional accomplishments were equaled by his rich personal life. His love of golf, travel, music, home theatre and gardening were all treasured parts of his life that he shared with both family and friends. Most of all, he will be remembered for his devotion to his wife Joanne and their two sons Christopher and Jeffrey. He passed away among friends, while walking up the 18th fairway of the Capilano Golf and Country Club.
Brian filled our lives with joy and happiness. He will be hard to live without. We will miss his smile and sense of humour, his good advice and his loyal friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. would be appreciated.
A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at St. David's United Church on Taylor Way in West Vancouver. A reception will follow at the Capilano Golf and Country Club.

SIGURDSON - Raymond Bruce.
Raymond Bruce Sigurdson recently of Abbotsford, B.C. went to be with Jesus after a long battle with cancer, on May 6, 1999, in his 47th year. He died at home surrounded by his loved ones. Raymond lived in West and North Vancouver since 1958 and recently moved to Abbotsford in January this year. Mourning his passing is his loving partner and best friend Maria Valerio; his father John Sigurdson; sisters; Beverley Candlish from Toronto, Conny Rosen from West Vancouver and Cheryl Jacobs from Abbotsford; and his only brother Jack Sigurdson from Prince Rupert along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Waiting to meet him in heaven is his mother Marion Sigurdson who passed away last year. Funeral services will be held at graveside with Pastor Dean Johnson officiating. Mourners to meet at the entrance of Hazelwood Cemetery in Abbotsford. (604) 853-2643, at 1:30 p.m. on Thurday, May 13, 1999. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Palliative Care Unit at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford.

SHORTHOUSE - Susan Leigh of North Vancouver. Passed away unexpectedly in her 48th year in Lions Gate Hospital, May 9, 1999. Predeceased by her father George. Susan will be dearly missed by her mother Florence Shorthouse, sisters Barbara (Bryan) Ralph and Claire Copp, brother Lionel Forrester (Matilda) and longtime friend Lloyd Robertson. Her nieces Sara Ralph, Alison (Tim) Ibbotson, Britton Copp, Jill Forrester and nephews Jason (Jodie) Copp and Glen Forrester will also feel her loss greatly. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Silver Harbour Centre. Memorial Service to be held at Mt. Seymour United Church, 1200 Pargate Ave (off Mt. Seymour Parkway), North Vancouver, on Friday, May 14, 1999 at 11:00 a.m.

WHITE - Mary Anne.
Born May 27, 1917. Passed away May 6, 1999. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jim; her sisters Elsie (Henry), Beverly (Owen); three sons, Russell (Barb), Randy (Jean) and Arnie (Linda). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Julie, Michelle, Meghan, Jim and Melissa, who meant the world to her. She also leaves behind many dear friends, including her dear friend Kay. Mary grew up in Kitsilano and married Jim on Sept-ember 28, 1940 which created a marriage made in heaven. Mary spent many years volunteering her time and helping others. She volunteered 40 years to the Boy Scouts of Canada, 35 years to the Lions Gate Hospital Auxiliary and 40 years to St. Catherines Church. She had a way of spreading her joy and love around the community. She was an avid bowler being a league member of Park Royal Lanes for 35 years. Mary will be fondly remembered for her strength, warmth, energy and thoughtfulness. All that knew her will always remember those twinkling blue eyes. Please join us for a celebration of Mary's life Thursday, May 13, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at St Catherines Anglican Church on Ridgewood Drive in North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
