Eric Alfred Wessel

WESSEL - Eric, born December 5, 1912, passed away December 8, 2002 at the Peace Arch Hospital. Predeceased by his wife, Hildegard. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his sons, Peter (Joyce) and Roland (Marlis); daughters, Ingrid (Horst), Renate (Dieter) and Anita (Wayne); 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as brother-in-law, Rudi (Hannelore) and sister-in-law, Inge (Dave) and Lili; nephews and nieces and many other relatives and good friends. He resided in Port Coquitlam for 28 years, after immigrating from Germany and the last 23 years in South Surrey/White Rock. Eric loved his family and extended family and exercised a strong faith in God. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. at White Rock Baptist Church, 1657 - 140th Street, South Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Life Evangelistic Association would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank Westminster House and Evergreen Baptist Care Home for providing excellent care the last four years.

Alan Wood
September 24, 1954 - November 30, 2002

WOOD - Suddenly, on November 30, 2002, Alan left this world to be with the angels and the Lord. He is survived by his loving mother, Agnes Wood of Kamloops; his father, Ken Wood of Hope; brother, Ken Wood of Kamloops; sister, Gloria of New Westminster; his Aunt Anne of Kamloops; his best friend, Leona Sperling of Kamloops, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many other family members too numerous to mention.

Alan was a wonderful son and brother to his family. He was also the best friend anyone could have. He was a caring, gentle, compassionate person who would always go the extra mile to help. Alan's life was simple and casual and he was thankful and appreciative for what he had. To his family and friends, Alan was an inspiration to all and will always be remembered, greatly missed and loved by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., In the Chapel of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 177 Tranquille Road, Kamloops.

Stacey Marie Zol

ZOL - Stacey Marie, of Montrose, born September 12, 1988 in Trail, died accidentally on Friday, November 15, 2002 in Trail.

Stacey will always be loved and remembered for her independent spirit, quick wit and sense of humour by her parents Roger and Linda, her brother and best friend Darryl, all of Montrose; her Nona Anna of Trail, Aunts: Bonnie (Gary) Grouse of Cranbrook, Jean (Tom) Stuckless of Fort McMurray and Helen (Gerald) Stoutenburg of Fruitvale; numerous cousins and her many friends. Pre- deceased by her grandparents James and Roselina Kirkpatrick and her
Nono Aldo Zol.

Father Bart van Roijen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Wednesday, November 20th at 10:00 am with burial following at Mountain View Cemetery.

The family as an expression of sympathy would appreciate donations to St. Michael's Catholic School, 1329 4th Ave., Trail, BC V1R 1S3. Bill Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services is entrusted with the arrangements.

Florence Yvonne Siemens

SIEMENS - Florence Yvonne, passed away suddenly on November 28, 2002.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 29 years, Randy; daughters, Sandy (Glen) and Carrie; brothers, Norman (Lillian) of Prince George, Raymond (Vera) of Kamloops and Leonard (Jo-Anne) of Prince George; sister, Marjorie of Victoria, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She will always be loved and sadly missed by all of her family and friends.

Florence is predeceased by her father, Lionel Massicotte, in 1985, and mother, Shirley Shaw in 1995.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2002, in the Catholic Church of St. George, in Barriere, BC.

Aaron Michael Allibone

ALLIBONE - Aaron Michael, of Rossland, born August 4, 1982 in Trail, had his life swept away by an avalanche at the Red Mountain Ski area on Sunday, January 5, 2003.

Aaron's passion in life was working with film and creating movies. He started filming at a young age, with Helen Anderson endlessly knocking on the door asking for her camera back. The school computer lab exposed Aaron to editing and soon a business developed, and the creation of "Spin Cycle Video Productions" becoming a reality.

Always working alone, Aaron loved to be inventive, the many hours of dedication and devotion became his garden of creation. Designing quality websites, multimedia productions and new style high-energy movies was his gift to all.

Growing up as a member of the Red Mountain Racers, living in a small community he developed close relationships that gave him support amid a very productive environment. Aaron's work was an Icon for Rossland and Red Mountain, with Rossland and the Mountain being etched in Aaron's heart.

The mountains, camera, music, friends and his Babe were Aaron's passion. All these were his inspirations.

"Although Aaron left us much too soon, his spirit and soul will forever reside above the local mountains of the town he always called home".

Aaron will be fondly remembered by the love of his life, Danielle; his four parents, Deana and Doug, and Ron and Darlene; his sister, Stephanie and his bro, Adam. He is also survived by his grandparents, John and Bonnie Carter, Howard and Melva Allibone, and Nona Nina; his close Aunt and Uncle, Sandra and Randy Hamer-Jackson, as well as all other special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including Dave Cochrane and especially the TEAM: Vince, Joel, Scotty, Heimer, Weiner, Dono, Geldrich, Smuck and the Hopkins brothers.

Captain Mike Hayes will preside the Celebration of Aaron's life at the Rossland Secondary School Gym on Thursday, January 9, 2003, at 4:00 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Avalanche Association, Box 2759, Revelstoke, BC, V0E 2S0, Rossland Search and Rescue, Box 1258, Rossland, BC, V0G 1Y0 or to the Red Mountain Ski Patrol, Box 670, Rossland, BC, V0G 1Y0 would be appreciated by the family as an expression of sympathy.

Giovanni Anselmo

ANSELMO - Giovanni Battista. It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father and Nonno.

Born on June 9, 1939 in Grimaldi, Cosenza Italy, Giovanni left us far too early in the afternoon of February 1, 2003, at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, at the age of 63, after a long battle with diabetes.

Giovanni immigrated to Canada in 1959 and immediately settled in Trail, B.C., where he married Rosaria Maio in April 1959.

Giovanni was a loving husband, father, Nonno and friend. He was a man filled with great love and devotion. He immensely cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. His family meant the world to him.

In January, 2000, Giovanni retired from the City of Trail. Retirement had only just begun for him. He spent many hours in the company of his grandchildren, which brought so much joy to him. They were the love of his life.

In his early years, he enjoyed fishing, taking his family to the Grimaldi Day Picnics and Champion Lake. Playing cards, gardening and visiting with family and friends were his past time. He was an active member of the Grimaldi Club and Italico Club.

Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rosaria; his four children, Chiara of Kamloops, Angelo of Trail, Dorina of Vancouver, and Paul and Rhonda of Trail, and his four beloved grandchildren, Carlie, Damon, Lucas and Ericka. Also survived by his brother Francesco, of Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy; nephew, Paolo and family, of Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy; niece, Chiara and family, of Belisto, Cosenza, Italy and numerous relatives and friends. Pre-deceased by his parents, Paolo and Chiara.

We will miss you greatly and you will be forever remembered by your loving family. You will always be with us in our hearts.

Vigil Service will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. Father Bart van Roijen will Celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m.

Donations to the Canadian Diabetic Association, Box 1000, Fruitvale, BC, V0G 1L0, or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC, 1498 Bay Avenue, Trail, BC, V1R 4B1, would be appreciated.

Christian Bepple

BEPPLE - Christian, born January 11, 1922 in Alexandervelt, in the province of Bessarabia, Romania, passed away January 9, 2003, at the age of 80 years.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his six children, Marlene (Gordon) Reed, Warren (Carolyn) Bepple, Brenda Zimmerman and her children, Caleigh and Stacie, Karen (Danny) Watson and their children Jennifer, Jeremy and Meagan, Sheryl (Byron) Bolton and their children, Rosemarie, Baxter, Rayel and Katrina, Garth (Susan) Bepple and their children, Josh, Joshua, Lacey, Jasmyn and Hayley.

Christian was predeceased by his wife Julia Bepple in 1998, his parents, George and Katharina, brother, Reinhold and sister, Frieda.

He also leaves to cherish his memory, special friend, Freda Sponaugle; brothers, Otto, Oscar and Henry; sisters, Hilda and Alma; a large extended family; good friend, Ernie Schaeffer; his breakfast buddies and many other friends and acquaintances.

Christian immigrated to Canada in 1928 with his family, settling first in Trochu, Alberta and then moving to Brocklehurst in 1933. He worked in a variety of occupations, including farm labourer, as a miner at Stump Lake, assembling machinery at Stan Steele, as a firefighter at the Navy Ammunitions Depot, and as a self-employed orchardist, rancher and developer. He pursued a lifelong passion with his wife and family for over 50 years, working and developing the orchard in Brocklehurst and the Ranch at Red Lake. Dad had a strong work ethic and lived his life with a high degree of integrity, passing on solid family values to all of his children.

He served his country overseas during WWII and was active in the community as a member of the B.C. Fruitlands Irrigation District, the Thompson Valley Growers Co-op, as an Alderman with the Municipality of Brocklehurst and a Director with the Thompson Valley Savings Credit Union.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Webster, Dr. Reid, Dr. Prasad, Dr. Karpiak, Dr. Donaldson and especially the nurses on 7N for their compassion and caring.

Memorial Service will be held on January 16, 2003 at 10:00 a.m., Kamloops Alliance Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations for cancer research appreciated.

Thelma Maria Cowland

COWLAND - Thelma Maria, born on January 28, 1920, of Finnish parents (Koskimaki), and raised in Mara, BC, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2003, at the age of 83, with her family at her side at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Rossland, BC, where Thelma had been a resident for the last seven and a half years

The youngest of three children, Thelma attended school in Mara and Enderby, BC and received the Governor General's Award in Grade 8.

Thelma moved to Rossland in the late 1930's and was employed at the Allan Hotel and the Bus Depot. She began a business college course and graduated in 1942. She then moved to Toronto in 1942 and was employed as a stenographer for John Inglis Munitions Factory.

Thelma then returned to Mara and Rossland in 1945 and married Cleve on May 25, 1946. Together they had one daughter, Cheryl, who married Phil Fowler and they had a daughter, Tamara, who is the only grandchild of Thelma and Cleve. Tamara is expecting their first great-grandchild.

Thelma was employed with the Mater Misericordiae Health Care Facility and also worked for the local School Board for 22 years, before retiring in 1984.

Thelma has been a member of the Rossland Hospital Auxiliary for 50 years and served as President for a two year term. She enjoyed dancing, bocce and, in her younger days, badminton. She was a hospital volunteer, a Meals on Wheels server and donated many hours to the local Thrift Shop. Thelma was a very caring and loveable person who always put other people's needs ahead of her own.

Thelma will be deeply missed and always remembered by her husband of 57 years, Cleve; her daughter, Cheryl (Phil) Fowler and her granddaughter, Tamara (Jason) Maat. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and close friends. She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers.

Special thanks to all the dedicated and caring staff at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Rossland who have been an extended family to Thelma and those who loved her. The family also wishes to thank Dr. John Dalla Lana.

Donations to the Rossland Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Recreational Fund, at Box 1239, Rossland, BC, V0G 1Y0, or the Stoke Recovery Club, Box 621, Rossland, BC, V0G 1Y0, would be appreciated.
