MABLE REIMER (nee Friesen)
In the early hours of Wednesday, April 13, 2005, surrounded by her family, "Sweet Mable" peacefully passed on after 93 well-lived years. She was born in Meade, Kansas on Feb. 29, 1912, married her Canadian sweetheart, Cornelius, in 1932, and later moved to Canada. They had 11 children, whom they raised together until Corneil's early death in 1958. Mable's quiet strength of character brought her through many challenging years with a large young family to raise on her own.
Cherishing her memory are her children: Edgar (Margaret), Alvina Klassen (Ike), Jim (Yvonne), Virginia, Lois Lewycky (Laverne), Marlene Sundeen (Lee), Randall (Beth), and Joyce Reimer (Lou). She also leaves her brother, Fred Friesen (Sarah), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of others affected by her warmth and perpetual smile. Those going before her include her husband Cornelius, and her children, Stanley, Adeline, Harold, and grandson Jamie.
Mable's positive attitude toward life showed itself in: a hum or whistle, a ready game of Scrabble, an inviting flower garden, and an open door to all. She lived her life according to the verse, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God." Romans 8:28.
To the sweetest Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, we have appreciated your ready smile, gentle spirit, quiet strength and unwavering faith. Thank-you for making God the center of our family, for your unceasing prayers, for making us your priority, and for your uncompromising love. We pray that who we are today is a reflection of you.

A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 11 a.m., with viewing an hour before the service.

CLARA TOEWS
1915-2005

Clara Toews peacefully passed away in the early morning hour on Wednesday, January 19, 2005.
She was born to Jacob B. and Margaretha Wiebe in Kleefeld, Manitoba on July 9, 1915. She was baptised on April 28, 1939, receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour.
Clara married Alfred Toews on June 9, 1946. Together they farmed in the Ste. Anne area and soon moved to Steinbach.
Two children were born to them: Joanne and Marvin.
Her faith in God sustained her till the end. We as a family are thankful for the Christian heritage she left us.
Clara was predeceased by her husband, Alfred on September 6, 1993, an infant granddaughter, sister, Dora Bartel and brothers Andrew, Albert, and Frank Wiebe.
She is survived by one brother Fred Wiebe.
Left to mourn her passing are daughter Joanne and son Marvin and wife Liz; also three grandchildren, Shannon and husband Jason Hiebert, Richard and Cory and two great-grandchildren Tyler and Jaelyn.
The funeral service was held Saturday, January 22 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery.

KATHE VOTH
Kathe went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, after a long battle with Parkinson's. She spent the final years of her life at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, where she was lovingly cared for. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints" Psalm 1 16:15. She had decided to follow him at an early age and was baptized on her profession of faith in 1941.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Elvira and Frieda; and brothers, John (Nellie) and Rudy (Kay); sisters-in-law, Anne (Abe) and Betty (Peter); nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was born in Russia in 1922 and immigrated to Canada with her parents, Gerhard and Katharina Voth, and brothers, Abe, John and Peter, in 1926. Kathe lived in or around the Steinbach, Man. area most of her life. Her parents and brothers Abe and Peter, and brother-in-law Roy predeceased her.
Family and friends were extremely important to her and she loved spending time with them, taking youngsters on wildflower picking excursions in the country and entertaining relatives and friends in her home.
Kathe spent 28 years of her life working with the medical personnel at the local hospital and later reaped the benefits of excellent care by some of the same people she worked with. We sincerely thank all of you.
Our family says thank you to her church family, the chaplains at the hospital, and the nursing home, for their support, encouragement, prayers, and regular visits. She was appreciative of all your concern and care, but could many times not personally express it.
Over the years Kathe sponsored children with World Vision, PO Box 1000, Stn. Streetsville; Mississauga, ON, L5M 9Z9, and if you wish, donations toward that organization would be appreciated.
Viewing will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, Friday, Jan. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service for Kathe will be held at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Ave., Steinbach, Saturday, Jan. 29 at 2 pm. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

Isabel "Jean" White
Peacefully, Jan. 22, 2005, Jean White passed away at the Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage La Prairie, Man., at the age of 93 years.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Gus Herman White; brother, Alexander James Clark; her mother and father, Elizabeth and James Clark; her uncle, Thomas Clark; cousin Scott Rattray; son-in-law Jake Wolfe; and daughters-in-law, Beth White and Joan White.
She is survived by one son, James Herman White (Julie-Anne) of Winnipeg, Man.; three daughters, Elizabeth (Betty) Wolfe of Winnipeg, Evelyn Baessler (Harv) of Summerland, B.C., Patricia "Pat" Antoski (Andrew) of Portage La Prairie; grandchildren, James Wolfe of Winnipeg, Brian Turner of Kootenay Bay, B.C., Kim Kodak (Bob) of Calgary, Alta., Vanessa Turner (Terry Brooks) of Calgary, Tracy White (Graham Pearson) of Winnipeg, Heather Sharp (Mike) of Portage La Prairie; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jean was born Feb. 2, 1911 in Winnipeg, Man. Her family moved to Badger, Man. in 1918, where she met and later married her husband of 50 years on Nov. 30, 1929. Jean raised and cared for her four children while Gus was away from home, working with the railroad, and later joined the armed services. Jean worked hard on the family farm, cutting and hauling wood and picking blueberries. She had a hard life, trying to make ends meet, but never complained. Her favorite saying was "one day at a time" and that is how she lived her life. Badger and Piney, Man. were never far away, as Jean and Gus would travel often to visit family and friends. This is where her heart was and she always considered the Piney and Badger area her home. In 1980, after the passing of her husband, Jean moved back to Piney, until she was no longer able to care for herself, and went into care at the Vita Nursing Home and later the Douglas Campbell Lodge.
Jean enjoyed bowling, crocheting, bingo and playing cards. She loved flowers and working in her flower gardens. She also loved to hear a good joke. She was a quiet lady and loved to be around family and friends. She touched the lives of all who knew her. She has gone home now to the Lord and to her mommy and daddy.
We love you Mom and Grandma.
Services for Jean will be held Friday, Jan. 28, 2 p.m., at the Piney Community Church, with burial at the Badger Community Cemetery.
Donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and/or Piney Community Church.

PETER N. GIESBRECHT
1917-2005
Peter N. Giesbrecht of Kleefeld, Man. was born June 27, 1917 in Rosenthal in the R.M. of Hanover, Man.
He passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005 at Bethesda Hospital, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 87 years.
He is survived by one sister, Helen Pries of Steinbach, Man., one niece and four nephews with their families, all in Paraguay.
He was predeceased by his wife Elisabeth (Pries) in 1993 in Canada; his parents, Peter L. and Maria (Neufeld) Giesbrecht; one sister, Maria Wiebe in Paraguay; one sister and one brother in infancy in Canada.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at Sommerfeld Mennonite Church of New Bothwell, Man., with Rev. John Penner officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Yvette Boaler (née Preteau)
Peacefully, Jan. 20, 2005, Yvette passed away with her family by her side at Le Repos Jolys in St. Pierre Jolys, Man.
Yvette was born July 30, 1929 in St. Malo, Man. She was a loving wife, a caring mother and grandmother, and a wonderful friend to many. After raising her family, she pursued a nursing career and devoted many years working at the DeSalaberry Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends. Her best times were spent traveling with Al and enjoying the outdoors.
Yvette is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Alan; her children, Jeannette (Paul) Ruest, Réal (Éveline) Turenne, Michel (Kathy) Turenne, Joanne (Marty) Geurts, Ron (Bonnie) Turenne; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; twin sister Annette Forest; sisters, Anita Carrière, Marie St-Jean, Suzanne Proulx, Lauriana (Oscar) Audette; brother-in-law Colin (Edith) Boaler; sisters-in-law, Trudy Boaler, Bernice Preteau and Lola Preteau; brothers and sisters-in-law from the Turenne family and many nieces and nephews.
Yvette was predeceased by her first husband, Jean Turenne; her parents, Jean-Baptiste and Valérie (Gauthier) Preteau; her sister, Laurette Courcelles; her brothers, Aubert Preteau and Fabien Preteau.
A funeral mass was held at the St. Pierre Catholic Church in St. Pierre Jolys, Man., Jan. 22, at 2 p.m., with Father Edmond Turenne officiating.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Le Repos Jolys for the love and care they gave Mom during her stay there. Special thanks to Aunt Annette and her daughters for their love and support.

JACOB D. HARDER
1921 - 2005
Peacefully, Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, Jacob D. Harder passed away at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, Steinbach, Man., at the age of 83.
Jacob is survived by his wife Susan (nee Giesbrecht) of Rest Haven; three sons, Gordon
(Daria) of Peachland, B.C., Larry (Kathryn) of Winnipeg, Man., Danver (Kim) of Vancouver, B.C.; and daughter Rosemarie (Wayne) Croom of Winnipeg; six grandchildren: Dwayne Croom; Sean Harder; Colleen, Debbie, Bryan and Jeff Harder; 13 great-
grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jacob was born in Steinbach in 1921, and was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Aganetha; and his first wife, Elizabeth (nee Reimer).
He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ. He became an excellent carpenter, which he enjoyed until recently. He enjoyed spending time with his family, music and travel.
Funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tsunami Relief Fund, care of Steinbach Credit Union.
ANNIE (Reimer) SUDERMAN
Peacefully, Thursday, Jan., 2005 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Man., at the age of 86 years.
Annie will be greatly missed by children, Dick, Agnes (Bill), Mary (Gerald), Peter (Lynda), Betty (Garry), and Bob (Gay); daughter-in-law Collette Frolick; as well as 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jake Reimer.
She was predeceased by her husband Aron just 29 days ago; her son John; her granddaughter Jacqueline; and her daughter-in-law Rose.
Annie was born in the village of Osterwick-Kronstal, Ukraine, Dec. 26, 1918 to Peter Jakob and Anna (Peters) Reimer. In 1926 she, along with her family, immigrated to Manitoba. It was in the Birtle, Man. area where she met and married her husband, Aron, to whom she was married for 66 years. They farmed first at Beulah, then Friedensfeld, and in 1948 moved to Silberfeld, Man. Annie and Aron retired from farming in 1978, but continued to live in the country, where she could indulge in her favorite pastimes - gardening, cooking, crafts, and having company over for Faspa.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with interment at Steinbach Heritage Cemetery.

ROSELLA (REMPEL) BAERG
May 13, 1920 - Jan. 24, 2005
Peacefully, Jan. 24, 2005, Rosella Baerg, loving wife of Art, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital.
Rosella was born at Langham, Sask., and spent her childhood and youth in the Saskatoon area. Rosella and Art were married in Steinbach, Man. on May 27, 1944. Mom met and befriended many people at a variety of jobs in Steinbach, before taking on a career as a Special Education teacher for 23 years. She taught first at Kindale School, and then in the public school system at Woodlawn School, where she gave her love and understanding to special needs children.
Mom was a dedicated shopper who loved shoes, brooches and clothes. Her grandchildren will miss her candy drawer, the fancy new socks, and her keen interest in sports (especially the Blue Bombers). She had a talent and passion for creating outstanding salads and pies, not to mention the succulent turkey and ham that graced many holiday dinners.
Family and friends were the sparkle in her life and she enjoyed nothing better than a good joke and a hearty laugh. She was thankful for the many blessings God had given her and enjoyed her years of service and membership at Grace Mennonite Church.
Mom will be greatly missed by her loving husband of almost 61 years; daughters, Joanne (Bob) Banman and Bonny (Jim) Peters; grandchildren, David (Anne) Banman, Heidi (Randal) Reimer, Jason (Amanda) Peters, Jonathan Peters and girlfriend Yolanda, Christopher Peters; and great-granddaughter, Ella Reimer.
Rosella was predeceased by her loving sister, Norma Robson, and leaves to mourn Norma's husband, Aleck Robson; two brothers, Averno (Wendy) Rempel and George (Diane) Rempel, and their families.
A special thank-you is extended to Dr. Curtis Krahn and the staff of the Bethesda Hospital for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Mennonite Church in Steinbach, Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at 11 a.m. Viewing is at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005 at 7 p.m. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.
