ANNE JANZEN
Mrs. Anne Janzen, aged 89 years, of Whitemouth, Man., passed away Aug. 16, 2005 at Maplewood Manor in Steinbach, Man.
She is survived by her sons, Gordon (Judy), Gilbert (Ruth), Milton (Victoria) and Monroe (Alice); her daughter Lois; 27 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Peter, Danny (Rosella), Roy (Gladys), Robert (Florence), Gerald (Ellen); sister Tina (Alvin Bartel); also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Dick Janzen, infant son Kenneth, infant daughter, four brothers, three sisters and her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at Whitemouth Mennonite Church at 2 p.m., with Mr. Franklin Penner officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Friends and family may view at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour, with a prayer service to follow at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Michael, Russell, Daniel, Stephen, John, Charles, Elvis and Harold.

BIBIANE HUTLET (nee Girardin)
It is with great love and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bibiane Hutlet. Mum passed away with her family at her side, at the Villa Youville in Sainte-Anne-des-Chênes, at the age of 91, Friday, Aug. 19, 2005.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Guy (Jeanne), Gisèle Smith (Émile), Claudette Rainville (Émmanuel), Marielle Jobb, Marcella Hébert (Claude), Marc (Marilyn). She will also be fondly remembered by her 15 grandchildren: Michelle, Serge, Denis, Gilbert, Nicole, René, Monique, Richard, Danielle, Tiffaney, Melissa, Brigitte, Renae, Karis and Falon, as well as her 11 great-grandchildren: Codey, Austin, Ryleigh, Paige, Pierce, Noah, Avery, Kaelee, Jacob, Natalie, Danic.
Mum was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Adrien, in December 1994; her son-in-law, Richard Jobb, in January 2005; as well as her parents, Albert and Arthémise (Lapointe) Girardin; and her five brothers, Fortunat, Georges, Emile, Arsène and Gabriel.
Bibiane was born in LaSalle, Man., June 7, 1914. She married Adrien Oct. 20, 1937 and together they raised their family, first in St. Alphonse, and then in Giroux, Man., where they moved in 1954.
Mum seemed to have an endless supply of energy and creativity. Her vegetable garden and flowers were spectacular. She took great pride in her sewing, knitting, quilting and would toil at it until it was perfect. We will always treasure the beautiful keepsakes she made for us.
Mum joined the workforce when she was 51. She was first employed at the Ste. Anne Hospital, and then at the Villa Youville, from where she retired at the age of 64. She often said those were the best years of her life.
Mum loved to visit and never turned down an opportunity for an outing. She was an excellent cook and she often invited friends and family to share a meal. There was always room for one more at her table. Christmas was the best, we often reminisce about the "réveillons" on the farm in St. Raymond and her delicious Pâté de Noël.
The family offers a very heartfelt "thank you" to the staff at the Villa Youville who so lovingly cared for our mother.
Prayers were said Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, 10:30 a.m., in the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church, Sainte-Anne-des-Chênes, Man., followed by the funeral mass at 11 a.m., with Father René Chartier presiding. Interment followed in the Ste. Anne Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully accepted. If so desired, donations can be made to Villa Youville.
Mum was a very special lady. She will be missed by all who knew her.

LENA PLETT
Aug. 19, 2005, Lena Plett of Landmark, Man. went to her heavenly home to live with our Lord at the age of 78. We look forward to reuniting with her there.
Mom and her twin sister Jessie were born in McTavish, Man. to John U. and Katherine Brandt on April 28, 1927. At 16 she accepted the Lord as her Saviour and was baptized. Shortly thereafter Mom and Dad met. Dad likes to pick up hitchhikers and, true to form, Dad picked Mom up on Blumenort Main Street without saying a word and that's how their courtship started.
Mom and Dad were married July 28, 1946. They were blessed with nine healthy children and three longtime foster sons: Alvin and Kathy (Landmark), Ernest and Joanne (Rockford, Illinois), Lorne and Ingrid (Ile des Chenes, Man.), Rose and Trav (Kola, Man.), Robert and Gayle (Landmark), MaryAnn and Dave (Landmark), Lorene and Murray (Landmark), Lloyd and Sheryl (Landmark), Norman and Pearl (Winnipeg, Man.), Jim and Deb (Hamilton, Ont.), Danny and Theresa (Steinbach, Man.), and daughter-in-law Deb (Landmark).
Today we want to celebrate Mom's life and the many good memories we have of her. Our parents have been a real example for us in many ways. They have always shared their home with widows, strangers, refugees and the less fortunate. We grew up without prejudices; any scruffy looking friend we brought home was "part of the family." In fact, Mom warned if we'd make fun of someone's long nose we would grow the same.
Our parents dearly loved each other. They stood united on discipline issues. We felt very secure in our home.
We grew up in an old house without modern conveniences and were raised on a small grocery budget. However, Mom's gift was cooking, and she could make anything taste good. She was always ready for extra people at the table. Mealtimes were filled with laughter and good appetites. In our house it was common for salesmen to overindulge on headcheese or liver sausage. We even fought over the one onion in the pickle jar or the liver in a chicken. Mom taught us that chicken feet were a delicacy. She enjoyed cooking for the construction crew that built the Youville Drain.
Mom was a peacemaker and did not like arguments or fighting. Some of her sayings (in German of course) were, "It takes two to fight," "The wiser one gives in," "If you flaunt it, you have to share it," and "If you don't appreciate a small piece, you don't deserve a big one." Mom believed that to complain about the weather was not respectful to God.
We know Mom as a prayer warrior. Her concern for us as children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was that we make peace with God and join her in heaven some day. When we had a new "special" friend, her first question would be, "Is he or she a Christian?"
When our parents built their last house, their dream was to stay in it together as long as possible. To help fulfill this dream, Bertha was an answer to our prayers. We, as a family, deeply appreciate you, Bertha. We also want to thank the homecare ladies, and are grateful for all the loving care we received at the hospital, and all the many other acts of kindness we have received.
Mom was predeceased by a son, Gerald, through an accidental death, and a granddaughter, Shannon, through a rare cancer. She leaves to mourn her husband of 59 years, Peter, the children as listed earlier, 34 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, all of her siblings and their families and many friends.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Prairie Rose Evangelical Mennonite Church, Landmark, Man. Interment at the church cemetery.

WILLIAM W. HIEBERT
Peacefully, Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, our father, William Hiebert, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, at Grunthal Menno Home, with his family by his side at the age of 87.
He was predeceased by his wife Marie. Left to mourn are his children, Walter (Marlene) and Linda (Ted); four grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
Dad was born near Winkler, Man., in the Rural Municipality of Stanley. Mom and Dad were married Nov. 28, 1937.
Dad will be remembered for his gentle and kind nature.
The funeral will be held Friday, Aug. 26, 2 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Man., with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

JACOB WIEBE
1926-2005
Peacefully, Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at the York Central Hospital, Ontario.
Beloved husband of Norma for over 44 years. Loving and devoted father of Tim and his wife Sara, and Robert and his wife Anne, cherished grandpa of Ellyn, Rebecca, Tess and Molly. Survived by his dear sisters, Agnes Wiebe and Elsie (Tony) Rempel.
A memorial service celebrating Jac's life was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 140 Brooke Street, Thornhill, Ont., Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at 11 a.m.

JOHN MYSKIW
1919-2005
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, John Myskiw, beloved husband of the late Clotilde (Katie), on Aug. 29, 2005 at the age of 86 years.
Dad was born in Lonesand, Man., Feb. 1, 1919. Dad lived in Lonesand a number of years and then moved to Sandilands, Man., where he has resided since. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Tekla (Stelmach) in 1966, one son Peter (Jean) and a brother James in 1998, also a sister Anne Panchuk in 2000, and our mother in 2005.
Left to cherish Dad's memory are four sons: Alex (Debbie), William (Evelyn), Morris (Majesta and Justin), Harry (Janice); one daughter: Victoria (Leonard and Jordan); two brothers: Mike and Paul Myskiw, both of Winnipeg, Man.; and one sister: Olga Chawrun of Sioux Lookout, Ont.; not to mention numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and all the friends made through the years living in Sandilands.
Dad spent the early years of his life cutting firewood for a living, and then taking a job for Manitoba Hydro cutting the lines for poles for about 13 years; then landed a job for the CNR, working in the shop, cleaning boxcars, went to work on the section for a number of years, quit for a while, then went back to the section working out of Woodridge-Marchand area for about 19 years, till health reasons forced him to stop working. Being close to retirement at this point his working days were over. Dad enjoyed keeping himself busy by fishing, hunting, gardening, and whatever odd jobs he could still do. After a couple of long years of being retired, those jobs became more difficult, and his hearing and sight were giving him more challenges.
Dad had numerous operations for blood clots, and it still proved to overtake him anyways. He will be remembered by all of us children as a hard working man, and a man of strong will. He'll always remain in our hearts and in our mind, but Mom called him home. Rest well Dad…Love you!
Prayers will be held Friday, Sept. 2, 7:30 p.m., at Steinbach Funeral Home. The funeral will take place Saturday, Sept. 3, 10:30 a.m., at Steinbach Funeral Home, with Father Gregory Zubacz officiating.

EVA KLASSEN (nee Friesen)
Eva Klassen (nee Friesen), formerly of Steinbach, Man., went to be home with her Lord. Passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005.
Survived by her beloved husband, Jacob Klassen; children, Charlotte (James) Lang, Sheldon, Elfreda (Neil) Fenske, Elvina (David) Waind, Marlin; 15 grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and their respective families.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, 2 p.m., at Calvary Church, 2810 Louise Street, Saskatoon, Sask. Viewing at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338-4th Avenue North, Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005 from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
RACHEL MARIE JEANINE RAFFARD
(Feb. 7, 1987 — Sept. 8, 2005)
It is with deepest, heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Rachel Raffard and her unborn child, Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005. Following a tragic accident, Rachel passed away with her family by her bedside at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 18 years.
Rachel was born and raised on the family farm in Otterburne, Man., and received her education in St Pierre, Man. She was currently working at Granny's Poultry. Rachel's family and friends were so very important to her throughout her life, her free time being devoted to those she cared so much about.
Left to cherish Rachel's memory are: her daughter Chelsey; parents, Denis and Lorena (Thornton) Raffard; brothers and sisters: Paul, Stéphanie, Justin and Colleen; boyfriend, Johnny Giesbrecht; grandmother Yvonne (Grandmont) Raffard; aunts and uncles, Dolores (Gilbert) Carrière, Lorraine (Bob) Cauthers, Evelyne (Pierre) Beaudoin, Marc (Eleonora) Raffard, Jeanine (Adrian) Bernard, Michel (Mary Lou) Raffard; many cousins, relatives and loving friends.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Marcel Raffard, Vivian (Alexander) Thornton; uncle Brian Thornton; cousins, Marie Beaudoin and Emily Dumont.
A special thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for the special care given to Rachel, as well as to Fathers Guy Lavallée and Marcel Carrière for their support and compassion.
Prayers were said Wednesday, Sept. 14, 1:30 p.m., at the St. Viateur Roman Catholic Church in Otterburne, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 2 p.m., officiated by Fr. Guy Lavallée. Pallbearers will be Paul, Justin and Alec Raffard, Josué and Damien Beaudoin and Christopher Cauthers. Interment of the ashes will follow at a later date during a private ceremony at the Otterburne Catholic cemetery.
Rachel's request for organ donation has been fulfilled.

HELEN KLIPPENSTEIN (nee Schmidt)
Jan. 20, 1938 — Sept. 10, 2005
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother, Helen Klippenstein (nee Schmidt). She has been reunited with her loving husband, Henry, and her granddaughter, Allyn. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, Jack (Marg), Pete (Faye); and her daughter, Louise (fiancé Bernie Van-Wissen); as well as by her five grandchildren, Rachele (Derek Kehler), Matthew, Ian, Christopher and Terra.
Helen was born in Hague, Sask., and was raised in the Steinbach, Man. area till she married in 1957. She worked at the Sewing Factory, Kimberly Clark, and enjoyed caring for the elderly with Homecare for many years.
Mom's inner strength and positive attitude encouraged many who came in contact with her. She was very proud to have overcome breast cancer and many other health struggles. Her gentle heart and childlike faith touched many lives.
Viewing will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, 7 p.m., at Steinbach Funeral Home, with a devotional at 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 16, 1 p.m., at the Word of Life Mission Church, Niverville, Man.

LAWRENCE DOLYNCHUK
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence Dolynchuk, beloved husband of Sonia, Sept. 11, 2005 at the age of 65 years. "Daddy" was born in Vita, Man., Jan. 7, 1940. He was born to the late Nikola and Ahaphia (Elsie) Dolynchuk and was raised on the family farm in Caliento, Man. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jarvis Dolynchuk in 1999 and Edward Dolynchuk in 2000; father-in-law John Serafin in 1988; and nephew Jarvis Jr. in 1979. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Sonia; children, Sheila Dolynchuk, Linda Dolynchuk (with fiancé Aaron Harper), Chris and Lucy Trainor, son Larry Dolynchuk, grandchild Jessica Trainor, sister Helen Bially, sisters-in-law Elsie Dolynchuk (Edward) and Elda Dolynchuk (Jarvis), not to mention his numerous nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Daddy spent most of his life doing what he loved and knew best, farming, as his father before him. In his younger days, before he married, he worked in forestry. Oct. 11, 1969 he married Sonia Serafin. Daddy also worked construction in the `70s and 80s while maintaining the farm. This work kept him away from home during the week. We remember waiting anxiously on Friday nights for Daddy to come home. He also enjoyed animals, fishing, and hunting; anything that kept him outdoors. He worked hard all his life and took pride in the work he did. He always thought "he could do it better than someone else could". He will be remembered as having a quiet but strong character, which reflected how he lived his life. Daddy enjoyed being in the company of his family. His stories about the "old days" were never boring. His family was always his first priority. His strong independence and quiet strength will be greatly missed.
Although Daddy's unexpected and sudden passing will leave an emptiness in the lives of those who loved him, we take great solace in knowing that he is now with other loved ones.
A service was held Wednesday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m., at the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vita, Man., with Rev. Father Gregory Zubacz officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
