EDNA PETERS
Edna Peters, formerly of Grunthal, Man., passed away at her residence in Bonnyville, Alta., after a lengthy illness, at the age of 70 years.
Edna is survived by her husband Bernhard Peters; and children, Gordon and Maria of Winnipeg, Man., Janice and Hughie of Flin Flon, Man., Sharon and Ray of Medicine Hat, Alta., Greg and Mariette of Grunthal, Man., Helen and Henri of Quebec, Debbie and Jake of St Malo, Man., Calvin and Maureen of Bonnyville, and Holly and Roger of Bonnyville; as well as 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
According to Edna's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Sept. 29, 2003, 2 p.m., at Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Grunthal. Interment will follow.
JUSTIN ARIE CLIFFORD HICKS
May 16, 2003 - Sept. 17, 2003
Justin Hicks, beloved son of Desiree Verstoep and Todd Hicks of Calgary, Alta., passed away at Children's Hospital in Calgary, Alta., Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, of S.I.D.S. at the age of four months.
Justin (jochie) will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Desiree and Todd; his buddy Flappie; Oma and Opa Verstoep and Grandma and Grandpa Hicks. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends in both Canada and Holland.

JULIA WOLFE
Julia Wolfe, who passed Aug. 26, 2003, was also survived by daughter-in-law Marge Wolfe. The family regrets and apologizes for the omission in the previous obituary.
REV. CORNELIUS M. FROESE
Rev. Cornelius M. Froese was born Aug. 3, 1908 in the village of Steinfeld, South Russia. His parents were Herman and Elizabeth (Martens) Froese. He passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 21, 2003 in his residence in Blumenort, Man.
To cherish his memory he leaves three daughters: Mary (Henry) Warkentin, Martha (Abe) Friesen, Ruth (Henry) Spenst; two sons: Herman (Mary) Froese, Ernest (Rose) Froese; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Neufeld; one brother, Peter Froese; also three stepchildren: Tina Unger, Leo (Donna) Unger, Marge (Jake) Schmidt; six step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife Maria (Bartel) in 1982 and by his second wife Anna (Unger) in 2000; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons; and two sisters: Maria 1918 in Russia, Anna Kasper 1997.
As a result of political unrest in Russia, Dad left the country together with his parents and his siblings in 1926. They settled in the Pansy, Man. area and started farming.
Dad was baptized on confession of his faith in 1929 and joined the Grunthal Elim Church. He married our mother Maria Bartel in 1930 and they shared joys and sorrows for almost 53 years. In 1987 he married his second wife Anna Unger. They enjoyed 12 great years together.
Our parents started their married life, farming in the Pansy area, and after several years moved to Grunthal, Man., where they continued farming till their retirement in 1971, when they moved to Steinbach, Man. Later in 1987 Dad moved to Blumenort.
Dad was always interested and active in church work. He started teaching Sunday school at the age of 18. He was active in youth work (Jugend Verein) for many years and finally he was elected and ordained into the ministry in 1961. He very faithfully served his Lord and Master as preacher in the Elim Church Grunthal and Steinbach Mennonite Church, and later speaking in various homes and institutions when the Grandpa Singers presented programs.
Dad was a great prayer warrior. He had a long prayer list, which continually kept getting longer. He called this his "work", praying for every family member and for his friends. He loved going out for breakfast and coffee with friends and family. We will miss him very much. But we grant him peace as he is now with his Lord.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, 2 p.m., at Steinbach Mennonite Church, Steinbach, Man., with interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery. Viewing was held Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 7 to 8 p.m., with a devotional at 8 p.m., at Loewen Funeral Chapel. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

MARGET BADGLEY
After a battle with cancer, Marget Badgley (nee Pott) passed away peacefully at the Vita Health Centre, Sept. 21, 2003, at the age of 77.
Marget Badgley was born Sept. 6, 1926 to George and Mary Pott.
She is survived by her husband Bryce of 49 years; sons, Robert (fiancée Beverly Barnsdale), Rodney (Linda) and Bruce (Shanna); and daughter Elaine (Doug); 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother Harold Pott (Lily); brothers-in-law, Ed Pott, Mike Badgley, Allan Badgley (Marion), George Fast; and sister-in-law Rose Pott.
Marget was an active member of the community and clubs such as 4-H, Women's Institute, and the Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed many evenings with friends, playing bingo, this being one of her favorite pastimes.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Greenridge United Church, Sept. 25, 2003, 2 p.m., followed by interment in Greenridge Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff of the Vita Health Care Centre and the community for all their support. A special thanks to a very special niece Pat for the care and help during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society of Manitoba or Diabetes Society.

ABRAM T. WIEBE
Feb. 20, 1916 - Sept. 22, 2003
Peacefully Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, Abram passed away in the Morris General Hospital at the age of 87 years after a struggle with liver cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years of marriage, Helena; and their seven children: Caroline Lachance (Paul), Abe (Evelyn), Edward, Irene Mazur (John), Elmer, Norman (Lorna), and Lorraine Martens (Robert). Also mourning his loss are his 13 grandchildren: Brian Mazur, Melissa Wiebe, Lisa Lachance, Amanda Mazur, Daniel Lachance, Matthew Martens, Ashley Wiebe, Raymond Wiebe, Kimberley Martens, Jonathan Wiebe, Amber Wiebe, Phillip Wiebe, and Zachray Wiebe; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Abram was predeceased by his parents, Cornelius and Helena Wiebe; three brothers, Cornelius, Henry, and Jake; and one sister Suzanna.
Abram was born Feb. 20, 1916 and grew up on the family farm near Lowe Farm, Man. He was the second youngest of five children. He was a family man with dignity and always had positive values. Abram enjoyed hunting, playing guitar and harmonica, and always looked forward to planting a huge garden each year. He also loved to play pool with his sons.
During World War II Abram served in the Canadian Armed Forces.
Sept. 2, 1951 Abram married Helena Dueck of Main Centre, Sask. They raised seven children and for the past 45 years resided in Morris.
Abram worked at numerous construction jobs in the Winnipeg and Morris areas. He also worked at the Morris Stampede Grounds for 18 years as groundskeeper and general maintenance man. Abram retired from there at the age of 72 years.
Sept. 2, 2001 Abram and wife Helena celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and friends.
Dad became ill and the Lord decided to take him home. Dad you will be missed greatly by everyone. We'll always love you Dad!
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Morris Fellowship Chapel, with interment in the Morris Cemetery.

ANN SOLOMON (nee Kwasnicki)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ann (Annie) Solomon at the St. Pierre Hospital, Sept. 19, 2003. Ann was born Aug. 30, 1915 in Tolstoi, Man. She was predeceased by her husband Paul; her son Donnie; her great-granddaughter Lauren Marie Eremko; her parents, Magdalene and Volodymyr; her sisters, Pauline and Olga; and bothers, John, Joe, Julian, and Alex.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Maurice (Eileen), Peter and Joe (Maline); daughters, Martha (Ralph) Eremko and Elsie Kennedy; grandchildren, Mark and Carolyn, Donna, Gail (Domenic), Cindy, Scarlett, David (Kim), Rob and Joey; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Julian and Dylan; sisters, Millie Ptashnik, Mary (Pete) Peleshok; brother Stan (Jean) Kwasnicki; sisters-in-law, Jean, Teenie, Rosemary and Gladys; brother-in-law Ken and many special nieces and nephews.
Mother was a lifetime member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and a member of the Ukrainian Association of Canada-St. Olha Branch, Tolstoi for over 40 years. Friends and relatives never left her home hungry or empty handed. Her delicious baking, great home cooking, canning and fresh garden vegetables always accompanied her guests when they left for home. The word "no" was never in her vocabulary, when it was helping family or friends. Her children and grandchildren were a very vital part of her life and she looked forward to their visits and family celebrations.
Funeral services were held at the Tolstoi Ukrainian Orthodox Church Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Tolstoi Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

JULIA EMILY WOLFE
Dec. 26, 1906 - Aug. 26, 2003
Peacefully, Aug. 26, 2003, with her family by her side, Julia passed away at the Vita Personal Care Home.
Julia was born Dec. 26, 1906 to John and Josephine Yanitski of Austria. At the age of seven, with her family, she immigrated to Canada, leaving Hamburg, Germany May 27, 1913 and arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia June 12, 1913. They endured 17 days and nights on the ship LaPlata and arrived in Winnipeg four days later. This was her first trip over water and she made sure it was her last. Her family settled in the Vita, Man. area, where they endured many hardships.
Jan. 21, 1929, she married Kazmir Wolfe. They farmed and raised their family in the Vita area. They donated the land that the St Isidore church and cemetery sit on.
Julia leaves to mourn: her daughter Helen; sons Joe (Ann), Frank (Doris), John (Olga), Stanley (Rita); son-in-law Eugene; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Helen Nagy and Mary Zajacx.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Josephine Yanitski; loving husband Kazmir; two daughters, Antoinette and Mary; son Walter; daughter-in-law Elizabeth; son-in-law Dan; granddaughter Angela; also five sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers were Julia's grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Grant Wolfe, Todd Wolfe, and active pallbearers were George Sawka, Douglas Sawka, Perry Sokolyk, Terry Sokolyk, Claude Wolfe and Darren Wolfe.
Her interests were sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening, carding wool for quilts and making feather pillows. She cherished beautifying the cemetery, planting flowers on the graves.
Julia worked very hard, providing and caring for her family. Babka, your days are over and you will be sadly missed. May you rest in eternal peace.

FRANK FORGO
Jan. 24, 1937 - Aug. 27, 2003
Peacefully at home, with his family by his side, Frank Forgo went home to be with the Lord, Aug. 27, 2003, at the age of 66 years.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife Joyce of almost 43 years; two daughters, Anna (Janos), April (Lyndon); one son, Butch (Jeannette); and seven grandchildren, Laszlo, Anna-Maria, Kriztina, Danielle, Jamie, Liam, and Afton.
Frank immigrated to Canada from Budapest, Hungary in 1956 and he was predeceased by both parents. He loved to read autobiographies, watch sports and visit with family and friends.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, 1 p.m., at the Landmark Christian Fellowship Church. Interment took place at the Prairie Rose EMC cemetery.

JOHN K. BARKMAN
After a brave struggle, John K. Barkman, aged 73, passed away peacefully Sept. 1, 2003, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Sask.
John is survived by his wife Mary; his daughters, Audrey and her husband John Hill of Medicine Hat, Alta., Mavis and her husband Garth Reimer of Winnipeg, Man., Gwen and her husband Bob Friedrich of Regina; and his son Grant and his wife Heather of Winnipeg; 12 grandchildren: Carla and her husband Pat Milo, Maria Reimer and her husband John Kennett, Monica and her husband Joe Andreas, Bill Friedrich, Andrew Reimer, Angela and her husband Greg Sperling, James Friedrich, Jon Hill, Carl Reimer, Joseph Friedrich, Eric Barkman, and Sarah Barkman; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
He was predeceased by his parents, Susanna and John D. Barkman. John was president of Kay's Construction at the time of his death. He was a leader in road building in Saskatchewan and Manitoba; over more than 50 years in the business, he helped to build hundreds of miles of highway across western Canada. He has been president of the Saskatchewan Roadbuilders Association and the Saskatchewan representative for TRIP, the national Road Information Program.
John was an instrument and commercial rated pilot, logging over 8,000 hours in the air. He was an active member of the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), a founding member of the Steinbach Flying Club in Manitoba, and a member of the Regina Flying Club. He was a member of Parliament Community Church, which he served in the past as moderator and as chair of the building committee. Despite his many commitments to these and other community institutions, John found time for such recreations as boating, fishing, golfing, and skiing, often with his children and grandchildren.
A funeral service for John will take place Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, 1 p.m., at Parliament Community Church, 4011 Pasqua Street, Regina. The Regina Funeral Home on Hwy. 1 East will be open for visitation and private prayers between 7:30 and 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, 2003. Memorial donations in John's name can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee at the church or directed to 600-45 Street West, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 5W9.
