COREY NATHAN FRIESEN
Corey Nathan Friesen was born to JoAnne Friesen in Winnipeg, Man., Jan. 19, 1977. Suddenly, Dec. 20, 2004, he peacefully passed away at home, with his wife Michelle and his brother by his side. He reached the age of 27 years and 11 months.
Corey gave his heart to the Lord at the age of 10. At the age of 17 he came in contact with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, and was baptized on Dec. 24, 1995. His faith was very precious to him and even as a young boy he had a longing for Heaven.
On April 6, 2002 he was joined in marriage to me, Michelle Diane Colberg, at Rimbey, Alta. God blessed us with many good times in our 2 1/2 years together. In June 2002 he was diagnosed with cancer. We continued to enjoy each moment together in spite of the challenges this brought. Corey was a very devoted and loving husband. He loved children and was excited about seeing our baby, but God saw fit to take him home before his wish was granted.
Corey grew up in Winnipeg, and lived with his mother until the age of 14. He then went to live with his grandparents, Abraham and Helen Funk, for the next 2 1/2 years. He lived on his own for a few years and then found a foster family in Vernon and Emily Dueck in May of 1997. His foster family was very special to him and we called them "our family". He really enjoyed his new brothers and sisters and had many happy hours playing with his nieces and nephews. The family quickly learned to love and appreciate Corey. It was very special to him that the whole family was present at our wedding.
Corey loved people and made friends quickly. His dream was to be a missionary, and without him realizing it he touched many lives everywhere he went. He thoroughly enjoyed his term of service in California at a rebuilding unit. He also loved singing, which he did with his whole heart. He found great pleasure in listening to the many songs and programs that were phoned in during his illness.
Those left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife Michelle; biological family: mother JoAnne Malkov; brother Phil and Kim, niece Kacey; sister Tanya; foster family: Vernon and Emily Dueck; Shirley and Lee; Galin and Karen; Donna and George; Robert and Nina; Bonnie and David; Cheryl and Calvin; Rod and Crystal; Jeanette and Darrel; Barry and Margie; and their families, parents-in-law Reg and Lois Colberg; sisters-in-law: Joanne; Shauna and Brian; brother-in-law David; special grandparents, David and Matilda Wohlgemuth; and many relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Helen Funk.
There will be viewing at 7 p.m. and a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, Man., Dec. 23. The funeral service will be held at the Greenland Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Dec. 24 at 11 a.m. Officiating ministers will be Elroy Penner and Jesse Friesen. The committal service will be in the Greenland Church Cemetery with minister Uncle Lee Wohlgemuth in charge.

RICHARD E. JOBB
With his family by his side, Richard and Marielle's courageous journey together ended, with the peaceful passing of Richard at his home, Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, after a lengthy 11-year battle with cancer.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Marielle (nee Hutlet); and his three daughters, Danielle and her husband Brendan, Tiffaney and her husband Kelly, and Melissa and friend Keri. He found great pleasure in his grandchildren, Paige and Noah, and with great anticipation awaited the birth of his next grandson. He is also survived by his six siblings: Sharon, Ervin, Herman, Helen, Dorothy and Mildred and their families. Richard was predeceased by his father, Edward, in 1983, and his mother, Ida, in 2004.
Richard was born Nov. 7, 1943 in Brokenhead, Man. After graduation from Lorette Collegiate, he pursued a career in appliance repair. In 1975, Richard and his family returned to Dufresne, Man. to pursue his dream of farming. Two years later, Richard and Marielle opened their appliance business, Rural Appliance, which he operated until his passing. Richard took great pride and fulfillment in seeing his farm and business develop into successful endeavors.
Dad also found great enjoyment in all sports. He played baseball in his younger years, and later enjoyed curling with friends and family at local curling rinks. When it came to hockey, there was only one team that was worth watching - the Maple Leafs. In recent years, Dad and Mom had traveled to different tropical locations and had taken up the hobby of antiquing, traveling to different small towns looking for their "treasures".
Dad's honesty, easy-going personality, and his gift for gab made him a valued friend of the farming community. Friends of Richard knew that there was only one way to go when buying vehicles - Ford, and that nothing ran better than a "Deere". He was a straight-shooter who believed that if it was worth doing, it was worth doing right.
But above all else, Richard was a devoted and supportive husband and father. One of the happiest events in his life was on one sunny Saturday in 1966 when he married the love of his life, Marielle. He always made his family feel loved and took great pride in his three daughters. He marveled at the unique individuals they had become and always said, with a smile on his face, "Not bad for a farmer's daughter".
Our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Rubinger, Jayne and the staff on the third floor of Cancer Care Manitoba for their care and compassion they have shown Dad and our family over the years. We also want to thank Andy for being our Dad's right-hand man, and allowing Dad to farm a few more years; Gilles, Ray, Rob, and Uli for all their help with the farm; and Dave and Joan, for just always being there.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Richard's life will be held Friday, Feb. 4, 10:30 a.m., at Thomson `In the Park', 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Interment will follow at a later date at Holy Angel Mausoleum, Hwy. No.1 East at Navin Road.
Your fighting spirit and your passion for life will always be remembered. You have shown everyone the true meaning of life. We love you.

ANTHONY (TONY) KOSOWAN
1932 - 2005
It is with great sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Anton (Tony) Kosowan, deeply loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jan. 28, 2005 at the age of 72.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary; two sons and four daughters: Jim (Sandra), Wayne (Sandy); Carol (Joe Kasunic), Janet (Brad Bartko), Marlene (Jay Jayabalan), and Charlene; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three brothers, one sister, and their spouses, several nieces and nephews, one brother-in-law, Maurice (Marge).
Tony was predeceased by his parents, John G. and Pauline Kosowan; and a brother, David, in infancy.
He was the eldest of six children, born June 16, 1932 in Gardenton, Man.
Dad was a very proud, courageous, adventurous, intelligent, hard-working man. Dad was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He mostly enjoyed when his family and friends visited him. His door was always open and everyone was welcome.
After retiring from the farm, Dad spent most of his time enjoying nature, gardening, planting a variety of fruit trees and roses.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Dad, you'll always be in our hearts. We love you forever.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at St John Ukrainian Catholic Church, Caliento, Man., at 10:30 a.m. Interment took place in the church cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

KATHERINE (TINA) FRIESEN
1925 - 2005
Peacefully, Thursday, January 27, 2005, Katherine Friesen went home to glory to meet her Lord and Saviour, whom she dearly loved. She was born to Jacob F. and Elizabeth Giesbrecht on Feb. 13, 1925 in the RM of Hanover.
She was baptized upon her confession of faith in 1943, at the age of 18.
On July 11, 1948 she married Cornelieus W. Friesen, and farming became a way of life for them.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 56 years; three sons and three daughters: Jake Friesen (Susan) and family, Cornie Friesen (Ann) and family, Dave Friesen (Cheryl) and family, Irene Bergen (Cornie) and family, Gladys Michaniuk (Edward) and family, Maryann Lupky (Darrell) and family; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, and by three sisters and two brothers; also by two grandchildren: Adam Cory Friesen (2003) and Tracy Jolene Bergen (1977).
Funeral service for Katherine Friesen was held at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church on Hanover Street in Steinbach, Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2 p.m., with reception in the lower auditorium. Viewing took place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, Feb. 1, from 7 to 7:30 p.m., with devotional from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

HENRY (PETKAU) WALL
1938 - 2005
Peacefully, with his family by his side, Henry Wall, age 66 years, passed away Jan. 26, 2005 at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease.
Besides his wife Tina of 14 1/2 years, he leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters and one son: Leona (Dave) Klassen, Sheila (William) Haaksma, Gary (Carol) Wall; and 15 grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and five sisters, many friends and family.
He was predeceased by his first wife Katherine; his parents, Jacob I. and Agatha Wall; and five brothers.
The funeral service was held at the Steinbach Chortitzer Mennonite Church, Feb. 1, with interment at the Winkler Cemetery.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. M. Duerksen, the Main Floor staff at Bethesda Hospital, and the Fifth Floor staff at Victoria General Hospital.

ARLA KLIPPENSTEIN
Peacefully, Jan. 28, 2005 at her home in Steinbach, Man., Mrs. Arla Ruth Klippenstein (nee Ritsema), 57 years, of Steinbach (formerly of Niverville, Man.), dearly beloved wife of Peter Klippenstein, went home to be with the Lord.
Besides her husband Peter, she will be lovingly remembered by two sons and one daughter: Larry, Jenny, Stephen; her parents, Harold and May Ritsema; and three brothers, John, Jim and Alvin; and many relatives and friends.
Shortly after being married, Arla, together with her husband Peter, served with S.I.M. in Ethiopia for three years. She was also involved in teaching Christian Education in Steinbach and Niverville elementary schools for approximately 25 years, as well as being active in teaching Sunday School. Arla had a great love for music and enjoyed singing in the Emmanuel Church Choir.
Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., in Steinbach, Friday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, 1 p.m., at Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Ave., in Steinbach. Interment at Hespeler Cemetery in Niverville after the lunch.

ASTA INGEBÖRG (Emma) THORVALDSON (nee Asmundson)
Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, Asta Ingebörg "Emma" (nee Asmundson) Thorvaldson, 93, passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, with family at her side. She was the daughter of the late Lillian and Jon Asmundson, and beloved wife for 57 years of the late Albert Thorvaldson.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1992; her daughter Deidre in 1995; and her six sisters: Margaret, Anna, Aldis, Winnie, Jonina and Villa; and three brothers: Steini, Carl and Freeman.
Loving mother of three sons, Thor (Anna) of Kenora, Ont., Magnus "Mike" (Wanda) of East Selkirk, Man., Larry (Brenda) of Pine Falls, Man.; and her daughter, Elaine (David) Swainson of Marmora, Ont. Beloved Grandma to 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Emma was born in Winnipeg, Man., July 17, 1911, and was the daughter of early Manitoba homesteaders in Caliento, Man. As a resident of Piney, Man., for 61 years she was dedicated to her community. She was at times a director and secretary of the Hall Committee for about 31 years, a treasurer of the Piney Community Church, member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary Branch 176, long-time member and past president of the Over 40 Club, worked on the History of Piney book, helped organize the meals program in town (Merry Eatery), was a 4-H Leader and W.I. member. She left the Piney homestead in 1995 to take up residence in Winnipeg.
She will be most remembered for her generous heart and love for family, especially children. She always had room for one more and a prayer for those in need. Her patience and loving nature will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, 2 p.m., at the Piney Community Church, with viewing one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Lillian and Roy Anderson of Piney for their attention and care to Emma and Albert over the years. A special thank-you also to the staff of Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg for the loving care given to Emma in her last years.

EARL MERLIN GRIER
Peacefully, following a brief illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Merlin Grier, Jan. 30, 2005, at the age of 82 years, at Emerson Health Centre. He will be sadly missed.
Earl is survived by his wife Irene; children: Diane (David), Wayne (Sylvia), Ron (Donna), Gail (Steve); stepchildren: Sandra (Brian), Karen (Brian), Delores; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six brothers: Norman, Murray, Alvin, Neale, Allan, Brian; five sisters: Ethel, Lenora, Vera, Lillian, Joyce; many nieces and nephews.
Earl was predeceased by his first wife Kay on Sept. 20, 1985; and brother Andy Grier on Oct. 15, 2000.
Earl grew up on the family farm in Woodmore, Man., joined the Air Force at an early age, and continued his public service for the next 38 years in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, until his retirement in 1983. Retirement returned him to home turf in Ridgeville, St-Pierre-Jolys and Emerson, Man. This background formed Earl's sense of family, loyalty, honesty, community, hard work and love of life in general.
Lifelong involvement in community events, fund-raising and helping neighbors were very important to Earl. His involvement with the Masonic Lodge and later The Royal Canadian Legion were special to him. Special joys in life included hunting, fishing, swimming, travel, curling, as well as gadget design.
His quick wit and sharp one-liners were often a good setup for the teasing that may follow.
A celebration of Earl's life will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, 2 p.m., at Greenridge United Church (approximately five miles east of Dominion City), with Rev. Bev Ward presiding over the service. A private family interment will take place. Following the service, a gathering of friends will be held at Ridgeville Community Hall.
Earl made it very apparent to his family how grateful he was to have had such loving care in both Morris and Emerson Hospitals. From his family "our heartfelt thanks".

ANNIE DESAUTELS (nee Miazga)
Jan. 31, 2005, at 6 a.m., Annie Desautels of Ste. Anne, Man. passed away peacefully at the Ste. Anne Hospital, with her children by her side.
Annie was predeceased by her devoted husband Roland on June 27, 1996; three brothers, Joe, John and Paul; two sisters, Mary and Nellie.
Annie is survived by her 13 children: Laurence (Norman), Lucette (Henry), Roger (Karla), Gerald (Lorraine), Laurent (Yvonne), Guy (Janet), Suzanne (Dave), Monique, Marlene (Gary), Sharon (Steve), Jacqueline (Gilbert), Jacques (Mona), Mark (Trish); 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves one sister, Helen, of Toronto.
Mama was a natural at everything and anything she tried. She was very creative and had a wonderful but direct approach to family situations. Mama was the kind of Mom every child deserves. She was a Super Mom of her generation and certainly of the ones to come. She also enjoyed reading and taking her little companion Trixie for walks to the mailbox. As the end of her journey approached here on earth, Mama was much looking towards her eternal life with her Saviour. As she took her last breath she was calm and peaceful, as though she had experienced something truly exciting and extraordinary. We know she is in the arms of Jesus forever. Mama, when Papa died we know part of you died with him. It was so obvious to all of us how much you missed him, but now you will be reunited with that wonderful guy you were married to for 52 years. He will make you laugh again.
