SADIE SCHELLENBERG

Sadie Schellenberg, 83, of Steinbach, passed away Saturday, June 18th, 2011 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.

She is survived by 3 daughters, 2 sons, 3 sisters, 1 brother and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Cornelius F. Schellenberg.

The funeral service for Sadie Schellenberg will be held Wednesday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover, Steinbach, with burial at Rosengard Cemetery.

Viewing will be at Chortitzer Mennonite Church Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m.

Donations may be made to The Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue; Wpg., MB R3A 1P6.

ANNA FAST

Anna Fast (nee Olfert) age 102 years of age passed away peacefully with her families at her bedside at Bethesda Personal Care Home of Steinbach, Manitoba on Friday June 17th, 2011.

Anna was born November 8, 1908 at Wymark, Saskatchewan and was the 3rd child of 15. She was predeceased by her parents Franz and Elizabeth Olfert, her first husband Peter Giesbrecht after 47 years of marriage and her second husband George Fast after 16 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters and is survived by sisters Helen, Mary and Nettie and brother Jake. From her first marriage she was predeceased by sons Tony and Frank and daughter Norma and survived by daughter Barbara, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. From her second marriage she is survived by her step family, Harold and Nettie Fast, Milton and Gladys Fast, Henry Fast, Vern and Edith Fast, Grace and Clarence Kliewer, Ernie and Elfrieda Reimer and families.

The funeral service was held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Monday, June 20th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Kleefeld EMC Cemetery.

MARIA DOERKSEN

Maria Doerksen (nee Dueck), 62, of Steinbach, formerly of Niverville, passed away Wednesday, June 15th , 2011 at Bethesda Place PCH. She is survived by Arnold Doerksen, 2 daughters, 2 sons, their families, her mother Margaret Dueck, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and their families.

The celebration of life service for Maria Doerksen will be held Thursday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach with burial prior to the service at Heritage Cemetery.

Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Imagine Mental Health.

KATHERINE DUECK

Peacefully, with family by her side, Mom passed away at the age of 91, at Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, on June 17, 2011.

She is survived by four sons: Norm, Robert (Judy), Randy (Kristina), Mel (Bev); two daughters: Carroll (Gerald) Dyck, and Lorna (Henry) Harms; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one sister Lena Barkman.

She was predeceased by her husband Abram A. Dueck in 1986. She was also predeceased by her parents, five brothers and five sisters.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Blumenort Evangelical Mennonite Church, with interment at the church cemetery Wednesday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Viewing will be Tuesday, June 21, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m.

ELVIN MORKEN
March 11, 1927 to June 15, 2011

Melvin passed away peacefully at the Altona Hospital, on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

Melvin was predeceased by his loving wife Gladys on February 23, 2007, his parents Oliver & Alma, 5 sisters and 6 brothers. Melvin is survived by his daughters Virginia Weiss & Brenda Sims; son-in-law Dennis Weiss; grandchildren Reishan & Curtis Weiss, Tyson Stevens & Joshua Anderson; great grandson Jaeger Weiss; sister-in-laws Winnie Morken, Lovina (Gilmore) Torkelson & Darlene (Richard) Culleton. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends and sorely missed by his loving companion Trigger.

Funeral Services was held on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 3:00 pm in the Dominion City United Church.

HELENA FRIESEN

Peacefully on Wednesday June 15, 2011, at Bethesda Place in Steinbach, Manitoba. Helen passed away at the age of 95 years.

Helen leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters, Erma Friesen, Irene (Patrick) Boenders and Bernice (David) Krahn; her six grandchildren Aubrey (Perry) Giesbrecht, Meghan (Nathan) Eidse, Vanessa Krahn, Michael, Justin and Nathan Boenders. She also leaves to mourn one brother-in-law, John Peters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Erdman, in 2000 as well as all nine of her siblings.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the staff at Bethesda Place for the 12 years of dedicated service in making her stay there comfortable.

Funeral service was held on Monday, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Niverville Community Fellowship Church, Niverville, MB, with interment at Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville.

Mary Fast, 101, of Steinbach passed away at the Rest Haven Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011.

She is survived by one son and his family, two sisters, two brothers. She was predeceased by her husbands David Penner and John D. Fast.

The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Tuesday, December 6 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Peacefully on the morning of November 28, 2011 at her residence at Park Manor Personal Care Home mom passed away.

She is survived by one son Boris (Myra), his two children Ryan, and Candace (Steve), one daughter Maryann, her husband Wayne Okapiec and their four children Shaylan (Melonie), Riley (Giselle), Lindsey (Shawna), Whitney and one great grandson Ryan Okapiec. She is also survived by one sister Olga Bodnarchuk, and two sisters-in-law Nellie Prociuk and Audrey Melnyk as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral services will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011, followed by brunch at the chapel, with interment at Sopiwnyk Church in Caliento.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in mom’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.

March 5, 1933 – November 29, 2011

Alphonse passed away unexpectedly at his home in Richer on Tuesday, November 29, 2011.

He leaves to mourn Aline, his children Marcelle, Roger (Paulette), Lise (Henri), Gérald, Ginette (Robert) and Jean (Twyla); his grandchildren David (Charlene), Francine (Jack), Jarrod (Megan), Eric (Tara), Luc (Catherine), Mélanie (Gilbert), Renel, Stephanie, Kristin, and Marissa, and one great grandchild (Nicholas), and Kay.

He is survived by sisters and brothers, Denise, Narcisse, Clémence, Evelyne, Bernard (Marge), Rose-Aimée (Vincent), Florence (Clément), Liliane (Lucien) and Oscar (Fran) and sister-in-law Anita, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA-Manitoba).

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Joachim Parish, in LaBroquerie, MB. Eulogy will be said at 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

RAYMONDE TÉTREAULT (NÉE FILLION)

Raymonde passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Nursing Home at the Villa Youville in Sainte Anne, Manitoba at the age of 75.

She is survived by her husband Roger, her four children Luc (Joanne), Murielle(Wayne), Paulette (Marc), Dolorès (Michel), her 12 grandchildren and her four great grandchildren.She also leaves behind 11 siblings and many other family members and friends.

Cremation has taken place and the memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, in Steinbach Manitoba.

ANGELINE SAINDON

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom, Angeline Saindon, 85, on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Ste. Anne Hospital with her children and friends by her side.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas; daughter, Diane; and five sisters. She will lovingly be remembered by her partner and companion (Lucien) and her children: Denis (Fernande) Saindon, Lillian (Jim) Siwicki, Lucienne (Don) Warman, Edward (Barb) Saindon, Roland (April) Saindon, Laurie (Terry) Lewindowski, Lise Saindon (Antoine Richard), Lionel (Theresa) Saindon, 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Emilia Belisle, Celeste Therrien and Irene Dumont

The funeral service will be held at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Ste. Anne on Friday, December 2 at 1:30 p.m. with prayers at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Fr. Gabriel Leveque officiating. Interment to follow in the Richer Cemetery.

Elton Pavlick of Vassar, Manitoba passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach at the age of83 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Rose (nee Poschner).

Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with ash interment to follow at a later date.

On November 25th, 2011, after a short illness, Camille Chaput of Sainte-Anne passed away at the Ste. Anne Hospital in the presence of his family. He was 90 years old. Predeceased by his wife Alice (née Charrière), and his children: Maria (Louis), André (Thérèse), Maurice (friend Diane), Hubert (Joan), Louise (Claude), Roger (Georgette), Lucien (Monique), Gérald (Gerry), Alice (Ron), Suzanne (Gary), and Clément (Myrna); twenty grand-children and ten great-grand children. He is also survived by three sisters: Germaine Chaput, Sister Thérèse Chaput, and Gabrielle Courchaine.

A Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the Sainte-Anne Roman Catholic Church, with Reverend Gabriel Lévesque officiating. Donations in Camille’s memory may be made to the Ste. Anne Hospital Foundation. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

Florence Emily Mac Donald (nee Marchant), beloved wife of the late Hugh Allan Mac Donald, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2011 at the age of 98 years, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

Florence is survived by her four children: Jack (Ena) MacDonald, Allan (Valerie) MacDonald, Jean James, Heather (Doug) Drimes; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service, to celebrate her life, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday Nov 26, in the chapel at Concordia Place, 1000 Molson Ave. Winnipeg, MB.

She was predeceased by her husband Cornelius, son Brian, daughter-in-law Pam, grand-daughter Lisa, and grandson Michael.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with interment at Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be at the chapel prior to the service.
