WALTER H. SKAVINSKY

Walter passed away on Monday, Apr. 2, 2012 at the age of 77, peacefully at home with his loving wife Gail and son Jon at his side.

Walter was predeceased by his father Joe, his mother Lilley, his brothers Tony and Jack, and granddaughter Lacey Rae Flick.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gail; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; his many friends and his close and loved “Buddy” Pocket.

At Walter’s request, cremation has taken place with a memorial service to take place on Saturday, Apr. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Sprague Community Hall in Sprague, MB. Interment will take place at a later date.

SHERI SHETLER (REIMER)

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sheri Shetler (Reimer) from Westport, Oregon on April 2, 2012 at the age of 32 years.

Left to cherish Sheri’s memory are her husband Jasper; her parents Denver and Anne Reimer; her sister Lori; her brother Rob, his wife Glenda and their children Auriette, Jonah and Owen; her brother Chris, his wife Myra and their children Micah, Christian, Liyu and Bere; Jasper’s family; and many friends and relatives.

Two memorial services will be held, one at the Westport Community Church, in Westport, Oregon on Saturday, April 7 and a second one at the Blumenort EM Church, in Blumenort, Manitoba on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. A public viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach on Monday, April 9 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist with the medical expenses incurred.

RUTH PAULS (nee Enns)
1943 – 2012

On Tuesday April 3, 2012, at her residence in Morden, MB, at the age of 69 years, Ruth Pauls, our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-law and dear friend, went to her eternal rest.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her loved ones, daughter, Connie and Steve Parent and their 2 children of Lake Mary, Florida, son, Floyd (and Christine of Winkler) Pauls and their 2 children of Steinbach, 3 brothers and their families, 2 sisters, and also her in-laws and their families.

Ruth was predeceased by both of her parents, 2 brothers, one granddaughter, and her beloved husband, Ed, in 2008.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Christian Life Center in Morden. Interment followed at Southside Cemetery.

MARY PAULS

Mary Pauls of Steinbach passed away peacefully at Bethesda Hospital on April 4th, 2012. She is survived by her sons Wayne (Sandee), Ken (Sandi), Lorne, Craig (Vi), and Troy (Jan), sisters Helen Keryluk (Walter), Betty Sandford (John), Ella Ferris (Orville), eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Abraham and Margaret Funk of Morden.

Mother was born in Morden, studied Art in Winnipeg, raised a family in Winkler, and had a career in Steinbach as Activities Director at the Bethesda PCH until her retirement. She was a well-known local artist, and took great pride in the many paintings and murals she created. Mary was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Steinbach Legion.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 150 Penfeld Drive in Steinbach, with ash interment to follow at Morden Southside Cemetery.

RUDY PANKIEWICH

Rudy Pankiewich, 72 years of age of Steinbach, sadly passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.

He is deeply mourned by his loving wife of 45 years, Nadia and their two daughters, Karen (Marc) Bouvier and Kelly Pankiewich as well as his four grandchildren, Brityn, BLanca, Ella and Layla. Also left to mourn are his siblings, the Baryliuk family, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14th, 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach. HENRY S. WIEBE

Henry S. Wiebe, 96, of Winnipeg passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. He is survived by his beloved wife Helen; children Ellen McKellar, Ivan Wiebe and Phyllis (Ralston) Selley and their families. He was predeceased by one daughter Judy Rawdon and one son-in-law Jim McKellar.

The funeral service will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 15 from 7 to 8:00 p.m. with coffee and tea to follow.

JEAN VADEBONCOEUR

There will be a Celebration of Jean Vadeboncoeur's Life on Sunday April 15, 2012.

It will be held at the Norwood Hotel in Winnipeg from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

EDNA PENNER

Edna Penner was born to John T. and Anna Fast Reimer on March 23, 1921 at Clearspring, MB. She peacefully departed this life on April 11, 2012 at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, MB, reaching the age of 91 years.

Those left to cherish fond memories are two daughters, Julietta and her husband Monroe Goossen of Hyas, Sask-atchewan, Nealda of Ste. Anne, MB, one son, Christopher Stevenson of Peguis, MB, six grandchildren and their families, Stewart and Ruth, Tamara and Kelly Penner, Leslee and Shawn Penner, Richard and Natalie, Shawn, Trevor and Starla; her siblings Mary Froese, Steinbach, Dan and Mary Reimer, Stein-bach, Gladys Eidse, Enderby, BC, Jessie Reimer, Steinbach; seven sisters-in-law, Nellie Penner, Esther Penner, Linda Penner, Mary Penner, Elma and Robert Toews, Lottie Penner and Irene Penner. Her husband, her parents, three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Greenland, MB. Officiating ministers were Jesse Friesen, Edgar Wohlgemuth, Melvin Penner, Elroy Penner, and Samuel Friesen. Burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.

DOROTHY E. BLOM

It is with deep sadness we announce the death of our beloved mother, Dorothy E. Blom, 82, of Detroit Lakes, MN, she died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

July 4th, 1928 – April 13th, 2012

Peacefully in the early morning hours, our husband, dad and grandfather passed away at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Romelda (nee Rempel), children Kenton, Ivan, Dale (Debbie), daughter Colleen Koop, two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and two sisters, Anne Voth and Bertha Lang.

ALEXANDER WALLACE McNAUGHT

Alexander Wallace McNaught passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2012 in his 61st year with his family by his side.

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Barbara, daughter Carrie and husband Garrett, grandson Linden, daughter Sherry, grandson Scott and granddaughter Vanessa.

Alex is survived by his sister, Margaret, brother Jim (Sue) and sister Lana (Chuck). He will be lovingly remembered by Mother-in-Law Nettie Hildebrandt , Barb’s brothers and sisters and their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Gimli New Horizons 55+ Activity Centre, 17 Colonization Road Loni Beach, in Gimli on Friday, April 20th, at 1:00 pm.

NORA VERONIKA RIEGER
1914 - 2012

Peacefully, after a brief illness, Nora Veronika Rieger passed away on April 14th 2012, at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, at age 97. Nora was born in Steinbach, the fourth of six children of Sebastian and Eva Rieger.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Anna and Minna, and brothers Sebastian, Simon, and Henry. She is survived by nine nieces, three nephews and their families.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday April 20th, at Cornerstone Bible Church, 290 1st Street, Steinbach with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

JEAN SOLNES (NEE RAMSEY)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Solnes on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the age of 89. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Norm, her parents Laura and Leslie, one sister Ina, three brothers Lorne, Lloyd and Jack and two sisters-in-law Ruth Ramsey and Mildred Bultz.

Jean is survived by one sister Doreen (Harold), two sons Barry (Beth) and Brian (Joan); four grandchildren, Chris (Hollie), Cara (Mike), Scott (Marcella), Tori (Nicole) and their families; her extended family of brothers/sisters-in-law; Ray (Mildred), Clara Ramsey, Millie Ramsey, Bill Bultz, Bernice (Harold), Gordon (Iris), Boyd (Rita), as well as all her nieces and nephews.

ROBERT GÉRARDY
May 5, 1924 – April 15, 2012

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, pépère, brother and uncle on Sunday, April.15th 2012 at Ste. Anne Hospital.

Robert is lovingly remembered by his wife, Alexandrine, daughter Suzanne (Alex) Jungman, Marie-Jeanne (Marcel) Kirouac, Cécile Morin (Dale Delorme), Raymonde Gérardy (Eric von Thuelen), seven grand children and seven great grandchildren.

He is survived by three brothers, Fernand (Ferdinande), Jules (Odile) and Denis (Irene), five sisters, Adèle Leleannec, Angéline (Marcien) Poiron, Gabrielle Gérardy, Cécile Farncombe and Bernadette Bouteiller.

A celebration of Robert’s life will take place on Saturday April 21st, 2012 in St. Labre Roman Catholic Church at 10:30am, followed by the burial in St. Labre Roman Catholic Cemetery.

BERNHARD (Bert) PETERS

Peacefully on Tuesday April 17,2012 at the St.Adolphe Personel Care Home in St.Adolphe MB. Bert Peters passed away at the age of 85.

Bert will be sadly missed by his children Gord (Marian), Janice (Huey McIntyre), Sharon (Willie), Greg ( Mariette ),Helen (Henri Dagenais), Debbie ( Jake Wiebe), Calvin ( Maureen), Holly (Dennis). He will also be surely missed by his 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren whom Bert truly loved. He also leaves to mourn his passing one sister Mary (Walter Driedger) and one brother Jake & Hilda Peters.

Creation has taken place.

A memorial service for Bert will be celebrated by Pastor Dave Neufeld at the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Grunthal, MB on Saturday April 21,2012 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at a later date.

Peacefully at home with his loving wife Dorothy at his side Peter passed away at his residence in Steinbach, MB on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife Dorothy and their family.

Peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB with family at her side Marilyn went home to be with her Saviour, Jesus.

She is survived by her parents Jacob and Elma Poetker of New Bothwell, MB, five brothers: Alvin of Calgary, AB, Norman (Joan) of Vita, MB, Harvey (Bernice) of New Bothwell, Brian of Calgary, AB, Wayne of Calgary, three sisters Valerie (Randy) Verestiuk of Mitchell, MB, Angela (Brian) Falk of Mitchell, Irene Abrams of Winnipeg, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m., at Steinbach Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover Street in Steinbach with burial at the Silberfeld CMC Cemetery.
