PETER ANDRUSIAK

Peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2012 Peter Andrusiak, 87, of Sundown, Manitoba passed away in his sleep at his home.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Sophie, of 63 years. Also his six children Christine (Larry) Block, Emil (Beverly) Andrusiak, Shirley (Dan) Brown, Emily (Rick) Driedger, Wesley (Theresa) Andrusiak, Edward (Donna) Andrusiak; sixteen grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, one sister Olga Elyk and two sisters-in-law Rosie Andrusiak and Grace Andrusiak.

Prayers will take place on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. also at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at the St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church Cemetery at Sundown, MB.

ALEXANDER (ALEX) JAMAN
April 9, 1924 – June 25, 2012

Alex Jaman, 88 years of age, passed away on June 25, 2012 at the Atikokan General Hospital.

Alexander is survived by his loving wife Lorena, step-family: Lanny (Kim) Cross, Eileen Cross, Kevin (Sharon) Cross, Tanis (Doug) Hampshire: grandchildren Lyle and Jamie Cross, Lana Johnson, Paul Cross, Marcia Gosselin and Diane Bowes, Jason Martin, Charmaine and Carla Cross, Robert Potts and Ryan Hampshire and extended families: brothers Peter, Nicholas (Stella) and John (Marjorie), as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be held at St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church at Sirko, MB on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

PAUL NORMAN NIELSEN

Norman Nielsen passed away at home on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his sisters Ruth and Ethel.

Left to mourn his passing is his niece Barbara as well as many close friends and neighbours.

Norman was a lifelong member of the Ostenfeld Lutheran Church.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Ostenfeld Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 2, Group 7, R.R.#1, Anola, MB, R0E 0A0.

GWENDOLYN FAITH MARTENS

Gwen was born on March 19, 1965 to Jacob G. and Eva Plett. She grew up on the family farm east of Blumenort. At the age of 14, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith at the Blumenort EMC Church by Pastor John P Loewen. In 1984, she married Peter James Martens of Steinbach. They were given the gifts of seven children.

In 2004 she recognized a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse by entering Nurses Training. In December of 2005, she graduated as a licensed practical nurse. She loved the few years she had working on NU1 at Bethesda Hospital. She had the best coworkers. She also got the travel bug and loved the travel that she did, as well as dreaming of future travels. She was diagnosed with cancer in May 2009. She fought this with all her energy and determination, trying every possible treatment option available. She went Home on July 2, 2012 with her husband by her side.

She is survived by her husband Peter of 28 years, Dustin (Amy), Dale (Alicia), Danielle, Dauna-Lee, Daphne, Keisha and Clark, as well as three grandchildren Gabriel, Aurora and Thatcher. She is also survived by her parents and five siblings and their families. She was predeceased by her brother, Wallace, and both sets of grandparents: Isaac and Annie Brandt and Jacob DK and Margretha Plett.

Viewing will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Thursday, July 5 beginning at 7:00 p.m. with devotional at 7:30 p.m. Funeral will be held Friday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Southland Church, Hwy 52 W in Steinbach. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

LLOYD RASMUSSEN
January 1, 1935 – July 5, 2012

Born in Vita, MB, Lloyd passed away peacefully at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB age 77 years.

He is survived by his wife Agnes, sons, their families, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach 55 Plus Centre, 10 Chrysler Gate, Steinbach, MB.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers. A special thanks goes out to all the Health Care professionals that attended to Dad.

JULIUS ROBERT BRASSEUR
1941-2012

Julius was born on May 23, 1941 in Winnipeg, son of Louis and Bessie Brasseur.

Julius and Anne married Aug 26, 1967. He is survived by his wife Anne, sons Kelley, Kurtis (Maryanne) three grandchildren, Jaedan, Autumn and Zackary.

His is also survived by his two sisters Emily (Peter) and Rose, three aunts Rose Rutka, Vicky Turner, Caroline Blendick also in laws in Alberta and B.C. numerous nieces and nephews and many loyal friends. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother John, 6 stepbrothers, 1 stepsister.

In accordance with Julius’s wishes Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at the Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Woodridge, Manitoba.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father and grandfather on July 7, 2012 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB at the age of 83 years.

He will be greatly missed by four children, Teresa (Lionel) Saindon, Greg (Francoise) Balan, Angie (Mary) Balan, Kim (Chris) Koop, grandchildren Bryan, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Madison and Walker.

Nestor was predeceased by his wife Gloria, brothers, Peter, John, William, sisters Anna, Pauline, Anastasia, Natalie, Victoria and Melinda. He is survived by his brother Steve and sister-in-law Lena.

The family offers their sincere thanks to the staffs of Rest Haven Nursing Home and Bethesda Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Curtis Krahn.

ELIZABETH DUECK (nee PLETT)

Peacefully on July 7, 2012 Elizabeth Dueck, at the age of 88 passed away into the loving arms of Jesus, at the House of Hope in Arborg, Manitoba.

She is survived by her husband, Willie ; her children, Raymond (Martha), Neil (Mary Ann), Rose, Trudy (Peter Dueck), Bernie (Caroline), Mary (Henry Friesen), Calvin (Anna), Sid (Bea),and Gloria, as well as grandchildren, Claude (Laura), Ben (Kendra), Carlee, Justin, Alicia, Carissa (Ernest ), Alayna, Amber, Kara, Dean, Jirah (Virginia), Josh (Gina), Katie, Zach, Kyle, Caleb, Andre, Nathan and Stephanie, and four great-grandchildren, Anika, Alliana, Kalia, and Elijah.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Anne in infancy, and three grandchildren, Kristin, Jason and Renee.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Morweena Evangelical Mennonite Church near Arborg, Manitoba with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Viewing took place on Wednesday, July 11 from 6-7:30 pm at the Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship, 150 Bay Ridge Ave., Wpg., with a short service beginning at 6:30pm.

EDITH LYDIA GIESBRECHT

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Lydia Giesbrecht, age 66, on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Riverview Health Centre. Edie’s greatest happiness was her family, and she leaves to mourn her sister Ruth Penner and children Kevin (Jackie), Candace (Kory), Michael (Joanne), Trishia (Dennis) and Lisa, her brother Jake Giesbrecht, wife Janice and children Nancy (Jeremy) and Christy (Jon), sister Hildie Wiebe, husband Stan and children Kim (Malcolm), Karla (Brad) and Sherri (Gordon), chosen family Val and Ross Schollenberg and children Jason (Jenn), Nikita (Jean-Pierre), and Brian, along with 22 great-nieces and great-nephews. Left to mourn are also many friends, extended family, and colleagues.

She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Sarah Giesbrecht and her great-niece Holly Braun.

ELAINE KOOP

Elaine Rempel Koop of Mitchell, MB passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Rest Haven Nursing Home at the age of 46 years.

She is survived by her parents Werner and Elda Rempel, one daughter, one son, as well as one sister and her family.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, July 12 from 7 to 8:00 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church, 340 2nd St, in Steinbach on Friday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m.

A private family burial will take place at Heritage Cemetery prior to the service.

DANA CHARLENE DUECK

Very early on June 25.1982, in Winnipeg, MB, God gave us a beautiful gift. Dana was born and our family was complete.

She is survived by her husband, Kris, her big brother Ian Dallas and his two sons Noah Hudson and Dustin Riley Keating, and their mother Priscilla, and her very proud parents, Denis and Wilma Keating. She is also survived by her parents-in-law, Alfred and Marj Dueck, sister and brother-in-law: Tanya and Greg Penner, and nephew Isaiah, brothers-in-law and their wives: Shannon and Tracy, Tyler and Coral, Jared and Jillayne. She was predeceased by her Grandpa and Grandma Frank and Olga Reimer, and her Grandma Irene. They are enjoying her in Heaven now and we know that Grandma is covering her with kisses.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Southland Church in Steinbach, with interment at the Prairie Rose EMC Cemetery, Landmark, MB.

JOHN BUGERA

On July 10th , 2012, John Bugera of Vita, MB, peacefully passed away at the Vita Hospital at the age of 90.

John will be deeply missed by Boris, his daughters Lisa (Michael) and their children Natalie and Kailey, Ashley and Boris’s girlfriend Sharon, also Gregory, his wife Kimberley, and their daughter Katrina as well as many nieces and nephews. John will also be missed by his sisters Olga Ziffle of Winnipeg, and Anne Green of Sechelt, B.C. as well as sister-in-laws Sadie Bugera of Vita and Vicki Bugera of Gimli, MB. John is predeceased by his brothers, Theo, Walter, and Alex, and sister Mary.

Prayer service will take place on Sunday, July 15th, at the Vita Funeral Home in Vita, MB. at 7:30 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Monday, July16th, at the Vita Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. with interment to follow at the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church Cemetary in Arbakka MB.

We would like to thank the Vita and District Health Center staff for their wonderful care during John’s brief stay at their facility. If friends so desire, donations may be made in John’s memory to the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Arbakka, MB.

Jim left this world unexpectedly but peacefully on July 12, 2012 with family by his side.

Jim was pre-deceased by his wife Elodie (2010), and son-in-law Jeff Griffin (2009). He will be missed and remembered by his children: Kim Griffin, Tanis Bordian and Curtis Bordian. Grandchildren: Misty Riach (Kyle), Raelee Griffin (Jon), Kira Griffin (Byran), Dillon Bordian and Presley Bordian. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Cadence Riach, Tarren Griffin-Forest, and Nash Riach. Sister and brothers: Marie Kunkel, Bill (Liz) Bordian and Eli Bordian. Close friends Emil and Rose Bruneau, nephew Gerry (Gail) Bordian, as well as numerous friends and other family. We would also like to give special thanks to Oliver Simner for his dedication and loyalty to Dad.

A memorial service to celebrate Dad’s life will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2J 4J4.
