BRODIE TAYLOR CHABOT

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Brodie on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 23 years of age, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB.

Brodie will be missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Bob and Karen; his brother, sister-in-law and niece, Jon, Christie and little Mirae; his sister Ashton and his grandparents Derek and Bea Betts.

A memorial service celebrating Brodie's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Yellowhead Centre, 175 Mountain Avenue in Neepawa, MB with Pastor Daniel Williams officiating. Service will conclude at the hall with an interment to follow at a later date.

GERALDINE SINCLAIR

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Geraldine Sinclair (Babe) of Richer, MB on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the age of 83.

She leaves to mourn daughters: Darlene (Terry) Larocque, Tammy Sinclair, Raedean (Rene) Gendreau and Dale Funk along with many treasured grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Goldie Weselak and brothers Norman (Betty) Whincup, Lloyd (Betty) Whincup, and Robert (Sonia) Whincup.

We will have a celebration of Mom’s life on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Richer Young at Heart Club. Please come to share some warm memories and smiles.

Bernice Lillian Palmer, 89, of Greenridge, MB passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Altona Hospital.

She is survived by her son Garry (Bonnie) of Roseau River; grandson Garry Jr. (Theresa); granddaughters Vanessa and Amanda; great grandchildren Alex, Myles, Zane, Sam and Chanine.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm. at the Greenridge United Church in Greenridge, MB. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.

ABRAHAM B. FUNK

With joy and sad hearts we announce the passing of Abraham B. Funk at the age of 85 on Monday, February 13th, 2012. He passed away at the Lions Manor in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Left to carry his legacy are his five sons, and five daughters and their families, five brothers and three sisters. He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen and his parents, Abram and Agatha Funk.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 18th at 10:30 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach with viewing before the service at 10:00 a.m. The interment at Heritage Cemetery will follow the service. Memory night/viewing and prayers will be held February 17th at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional following.

RODNEY NIEL WIENS

Rodney Niel Wiens, 59, of Winnipeg, MB passed away Monday, February 13, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital.

He is survived by his parents Cornie and Mary Wiens, two sisters, three brothers and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Anne Marie in 2008.

A memorial service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Friday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. with ash interment at Heritage Cemetery.

ESTHER PENNER

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Esther Penner (nee Ginter) on February 13, 2012 at the age of 49.

She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Maria Ginter, two sisters (Anna and Maria), three brothers (Dave, Martin and Bill), and one nephew. Esther is survived by two sons, Darren (Katt), Nathan, two daughters, Melissa, Jackie (Robert), four sisters, Neta (Abe), Susie, Eva, Frieda (Jake), two brothers, Ben (Marian), John, one sister-in-law, Marie (John) and many nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial service was held Friday, February 17, 2012 with ash interment at a later date.

KATHERINE B. REIMER

On February 14 Katherine Reimer peacefully entered her eternal home. She reached the age of 89 years, 10 months and 27 days.

She is survived and greatly missed by her husband John K. Reimer, the love of her life for 70 years, son Richard and his wife Helen, daughter Carolyn and her husband Ben Wiebe; grandchildren Darryl and Linda Reimer, Sheri and Ed Wise, Angela Waffer and Garry Kornelsen and eight step grandchildren; great grandchildren Alycia Vaden Long, Christopher Vaden, Jeremy Vaden, Gabriel Vaden, Jared Waffer, Elizabeth Reimer, Daniel Reimer, Jalen Waffer, Ireesha Kornelsen and 14 step great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews, especially the Plett Family in Canada.

In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, donations may be made to The Gideons, PO Box 3619 Stn Main; Guelph, ON N1H 9Z9.

The funeral service will be held Friday, February 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Blumenort Evangelical Mennonite Church with viewing prior to the service. Interment at the Blumenort EMC Cemetery.

WILBUR BARRY STONE
1946 - 2012

With great sadness we announce the passing of Barry at the age of 65 years, at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Ruth, their children Kristi (Bill) Reid, Dwain (Terryl) Stone and grandchildren Izaac Reid, Sebastian and Indigo Stone. Barry will be deeply missed by his siblings, Robert (Monique) Stone, Elma (Garry) Stewart, and Richard(Donna) Stone as well as many other treasured relatives and friends.

Condolences may be extended to the family at a come and go reception on Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Emmanuel Free Church Chapel, 360 McKenzie Ave. Steinbach MB.

A family service of remembrance will be held in the Boissevain Mennonite Brethren Church on Wednesday February 22, 2 p.m.

JOHN K. HARDER

John K. Harder born March 20th, 1924 died suddenly at his residence in Mitchell, MB on February 15, 2012, at the age of 87 years.

John is survived by the love of his life Tina (nee Giesbrecht), to whom he was married for 68 years, six sons and five daughters; Peter and Twyla; Helen and Frank Janzen; Jake and Alice; Marty and Bill Hiebert; Abe and Eva; Ben and Viola; Nettie and Henry Dyck; Loraine and Kit Wong; Mary Ann and Darrell Klippenstein; David and Jeanette; Philip and Lorraine, along with 31 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

The viewing will be held at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, in Steinbach, Monday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Tuesday, February 21, at 11:00 a.m. with interment at the Hespeler Park Cemetery in Niverville.

MARY SAWATZKY

Maria (Mary) Sawatzky, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with family by her side on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the age of 78.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William (Bill) Sawatzky, her five children, Shirley (Brian), John (Carol), Janice (Elmer), Janette (Ernie) and Steve (Dedra); 12 grandchildren, Samantha (Brandon), Jennifer, Sarah, David, Shawn, Robin, Charlene (Wayne), Trenton (Jessica), Theresa (Matt), Paul, Samuel and Grace; two great grandchildren, Lacey and Cody; step grandchildren, Paul (Jessica), Scott, Rod (Ruth), Gary (Lori), Stan (Wendy) and their children; extended family Emile and Carolyn and their children, Ryan and Breanne; brother Herman (Margaret), sister Tina (Henry), brother-in-law Bernie and sisters-in-law Lena and Betty and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Maria Schapansky, brothers Abe and Jake, sister Margaret, and brothers/sisters-in-law Mary (Peter), Margaret (Frank) and Aaron.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Greendale First Mennonite Church, 42369 South Sumas Rd, Chilliwack, BC. If so desired, in lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC BC), Box 2038, Abbotsford, BC V2T 3T8.

JOAN RUUD (nee RISLEY)
September 5, 1931 - February 17, 2012

The Lord wrapped her in his arms with her family by her side with quiet dignity and prayer. Joan was born a twin with her brother John in Vita, Manitoba. She spent her childhood years in Piney but later lived, raised and loved her own family in South Junction.

Left to treasure her memory is her husband and sweetheart Lloyd of 62 years; her children Gloria Halwachs (Alfred), Robert (Naomi), Richard (Kim), Ronald (Elwyn), Rodney (Kim), Pamela Downing (Tim), Wanda Barker (Wayne) and Jim. Mom was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Claude, sisters-in-law Lil, Vicki, Maureen and families. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Ron and John (her twin), daughter Kathy and grandson Greg.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the International Fellowship Church in Piney with ash interment at the Wampum Cemetery.

ERNEST GIESBRECHT

Ernest Giesbrecht peacefully went to heaven on Friday, February 17, 1012 at the age of 84 at Bethesda Place in Steinbach, Manitoba.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 12 years, Elma, and her children: Karen, Russ, Sylvia, Paul, Ron, Diana, Barb, Pete; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his children: Jo-Anne, Edward, Geordie, Kim and three grandchildren: Karli, Jessica and Abigail; his sisters: Minna and Lottie and many nieces and nephews.

A special Thank You to Dr. Borys and staff at the Movement Clinic in Winnipeg, Manitoba and to Dr. Kaethler, Paula Enns, Larry Hurst, Shauna Funk, Pat Ticknor and the wonderful caring nursing staff of Bethesda Place.

A memorial service was held at the Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main Street, Steinbach at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21,2012.

AGATHA DUECK

Our mother Agatha Broesky Dueck was born on May 5, 1919 to Abram and Maria Broesky, in the Hanover Municipality.

Our mother passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at her home, at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 13 days.

Mom’s home going will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, with interment at the Sommerfeld Church Cemetery, New Bothwell.

Mom is survived by: five daughters and one son, Anne Letkeman, Mary Wiens, Agatha (Dick) Schellenberg, Jessie (Isaac) Bergen, Peter (Linda) Dueck, Marge (Cornie) Martens, 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Abram in 1978, son Abe in 1942, son-in-law Jake Wiens in 1999, two grandchildren and one great grandchild died in infancy.

The family wants to thank Dr. Krahn, the palliative care nurses, the home care staff and Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

ROSIE ANNE PETERS
1938—2012

Rosie passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB.

She is survived by one son, three daughters, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Anita (Abe) Krahn of Steinbach, their son Kevin and grandson Justin; Ernie (Bonnie) Peters of Kleefeld, their children Tracey, Justin and Kyle; Erica (Peter) Dyck of Kleefeld, their children Kailey, Nigel, Brayton and Alaron; Perl (James) Wilton of Ontario, and their children; Nicholas and Chantel. Rosie is also survived by two brothers, Ben (Nettie) Unrau and John (Tina) Unrau of Paraguay, SA, one sister Doris (John) Dueck of Winnipeg, MB, two sisters-in-law and their families.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. followed by a devotional and at the church prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church, with burial at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Rosie’s memory may be made to the Bethesda Foundation (Palliative Care), 150 Henry St., Steinbach, MB R5G 0P9.

HELENE REMPEL

Peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2012, Helene left this earthly world to enter her heavenly home.

Helene will be lovingly remembered by her six children and their families. Left to mourn her passing, and at the same time, celebrate her long and rewarding life, are: Evelyn (Henry) Harder, Melvin (Johanna), Lorraine (Gordon) Pachal, Ruth (James) Ketler, Randy (Carol), and Don. Also remembering their beloved grandmother are 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her brothers Henry and Albert, and sister Erna survive her. Helene was predeceased by her loving husband Ed, in January, 2004. Brother Jack and sister Rose have gone before her.

As a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Steinbach, mom’s funeral service will be held there on Monday, February 27th at 2:00 p.m., which would have been her 94th birthday. Interment to follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Hwy #12 S.
