JOHN K. FRIESEN

John K. Friesen of Steinbach passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at the Bethesda Hospital on Sunday September 1, 2013 at the age of 66 years.

He is survived by his wife Agatha (nee Penner), one daughter Darlene (and Mike Reid), three sons Wayne (and Becky), James (and Christina), Jeff (and Trish) and 15 grandchildren as well as by two sisters, Tina and Betty and two brothers, Walter and Peter. He was predeceased by his parents Peter W. and Elizabeth Friesen and seven siblings.

The funeral service will be held at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover St, in Steinbach on Thursday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing prior to the service. Interment at the Heritage Cemetery.

DREW CARLYLE COOK
May 3, 1985 — September 3, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Drew Carlyle Cook of Niverville, Manitoba, at the age of 28.

Drew will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ashley (nee Humphrey), parents Ralph and Dorothy, brother Drayton (Deanna), niece Annika, sister Karissa. grandparents Wesley and Martha, aunts and uncles and six much loved cousins. Drew was predeceased by his grandparents Amma and Afi Goodman.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Church, 233 3rd St. S., Niverville, MB. Private interment at a later date.

REBECCA TOEWS-KELLY

Rebecca Toews-Kelly, age 52, of Ottawa, Ontario, formerly of Winnipeg, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.

She is survived by her husband James, three daughters, two sons and their families.

Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 11:00 a.m. at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, with ash interment to follow at the Kleefeld Church of God in Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rebecca’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba.

PETER S. THIESSEN
November 28, 1929 – September 5, 2013

Beloved husband of Marlies, father to Wally (Candace), Louise, Dorothy (Ralf) and Rob; grandfather to Alex, Andrew, Joey (Jen; Bella, Keaton), Curtis and Cassandra (Andrew). Survived also by his brother Jack (Audrey) and sisters Anne and Agnes, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and step-mother Erika. Predeceased by his parents and brother Frank.

Funeral was held Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Douglas Avenue Mennonite Church, 1517 Rothesay Street, Winnipeg.

ALICE WARKENTIN
August 17, 1914—September 6, 2013

Peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2013 with her family by her side Alice Warkentin (nee Peterson) passed away at Bethesda Personal Care Home, Steinbach, Mb.

Alice was born in Rush Lake, Saskatchewan on August 17, 1914

Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband Irvin Warkentin, 3 sisters, 1 brother and an infant granddaughter.

She leaves to mourn her passing, son Robert and wife Loretta, daughter, Elizabeth and husband Marvin Toews, 8 grand- children, Miranda and John Wyndels, Charlene and Trenis Plett, Karen Warkentin, Lance and Juli Warkentin, Patrick Warkentin, Shannon and Jason Hiebert, Richard Toews, and Cory Toews, 14 Great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday Sept 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba.

DAVID REMPEL
August 3, 1955 – September 6, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce that David Rempel of La Broquerie, MB passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2013 at his home with his loving wife and his two yorkies near at hand. Dave was 58 years young at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his loving wife Kim, his three sons Travis, Christopher and Dustin; his three daughters Christine Samantha and Kelly and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his four sisters Shirley, Barb, Susan and Rose and his younger brother Tom.

He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Gertrude Rempel, twin brothers George and Abram and brothers-in-law Abe and Cornie.

The Celebration of his life will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, September 12 at 3:00 p.m.

KATHERINE (KAY) HARDER

Our mother, Katherine (Kay) Harder, was promoted to glory peacefully at 6:20 a.m. on September 9th, 2013, at the age of 84 years and 8 months at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba. She was born on January 6th, 1929 to Peter and Olga (Jabs) Vogt at Teddington, Saskatchewan.

Celebrating her life are daughter Wendy (Landis) Dirks, grandson Myron (Ammi) Dirks and granddaughter Lisa Dirks, daughter Bev (Reg) Hertz, grandson Daniel (Erin) Hertz and great grandchildren Colby and Audrey Hertz, granddaughter Larissa (Dale) Pereira and great-granddaughter Maya Pereira, son Brian (Shiela) Harder, granddaughter Amie (Dawson) Friesen, great-grandchildren Sarah, Megan, Kasey and Jordan Friesen, Matthew Harder, Shaun (Alisa) Harder, Cody Harder, son in law Walter (Sal) Dueck, granddaughter Kara (Mike) Bange, great-granddaughters Mikaela and Haley Bange and grandson Anthony Dueck. Meeting her in heaven are her husband Abe, her daughter Elaine Dueck and her grandsons Jeff Dueck and Jared Hertz.

Her Funeral Service will be held at Christian Fellowship Church, 417 Hanover St, Steinbach on Thursday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mac Dumcum officiating. Viewing to be held prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

ROMAN PANISIAK

After many years of struggling with several forms of arthritis and osteoporosis his battle has finally ended. Roman passed away peacefully at Steinbach Bethesda hospital September 9, 2013 at the age of 77 years. His birthplace was at the family farm at Tolstoi on June 26, 1936.

Roman is survived by his loving wife Mary-Ann of 17 years; his son Terry(Lana) Garson, MB. and daughter Donna(Garth) Victoria, BC. Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. His step children Ernie(Diane)Hildebrandt of Tolstoi, MB, Les(Aline)Hildebrandt of Roseau River, MB., Dennis(Anita)Hildebrandt, Ted(Christina)Hildebrandt, brother Paul(Jean)of Blairmore, AB and Helen Aubin of Winnipeg, MB. sister in law Linda(Danny)and numerous nieces and nephews. Roman was predeceased by his first wife Doris , his parents Dymetro and Anna; sister Carrie and brothers Steve, Frank, Fred, Alex and Daniel.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at the Greenridge United Church on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Bob and Myrna Stark officiating.

In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society of Manitoba or a charity of one’s choice.

ISAAC OLFERT

On September 10, 2013 at 6:00 a.m., peacefully with family at his side, Isaac Olfert went to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 78.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Martha (nee Penner), five daughters Dianne (Dan) Engbrecht, Karen Warkentin, Lorna (Corneil) Blatz, Maria (Alfred) Reschke and Tracy (Rick) Jabs; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters.

He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Elizabeth; one sister (Helen Friesen), one brother-in-law (Henry Hiebert) and one sister-in-law Beth Olfert and one great grandson Joshua Flynn Loewen.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Sunday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held at Southland Church, Hwy 52 W., Steinbach on Monday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Heritage Cemetery.
