Andre C. Carriere
January 3, 1947 - May 9, 2003

A loving father, husband, friend and mentor to many, passed away on Friday May 9, 2003. Andre was born along the banks of the Red River near St. Adolphe, Manitoba. Strong family bonds were created as the family worked side by side on their market garden. These times were among his fondest memories, and helped shape his strong work ethic.

In 1969, he joined the Rural Municipality of Cartier where he served as Chief Administrative Officer for over 33 years. He was truly passionate about his work and never lost sight that his position was to serve the rate payers to the best of his ability. In addition, through the years he also served on many committees and community organizations.

Despite his physical challenges, Andre showed a great passion for life which served as an inspiration for all who knew him. His family and friends will always carry fond memories of Andre's wild tales, and silly songs in their hearts.

Predeceased by his parents Charles and Rose-Anna Carriere, Andre leaves many to carry on the torch and to miss him every day. His son Todd (Tracy), daughter Lisa, their mother, and best friend Joy Carriere, his "amour not" Vivian Smith, step children Rielle Smith (John Finkbeiner), Francois Smith. Also left to mourn the loss of their beloved brother are, Ellen (Rene) Gratton, Erneste (Gloria) Carriere, Eveline (Armand) Levesque, Hugette (Marc) Phaneuf, and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Paroisse St. Eustache Church in St. Eustache Manitoba on Thursday May 15 at 10:30 a.m.

Flowers not necessary, thoughts and memories, cherished. Donations in Andre's memory may be made to Canadian Blood Services, Kidney Foundation or, Arthritis Society.

and in order to remake himself he must

suffer for he is both the marble and the sculptor."

Maurice Hector Joseph Routhier
1924-2003

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather on Wednesday, September 17th, 2003 at the Taché Centre.

He was predeceased by his 1st wife Irène Routhier (nee Rondeau) in 1981 and one grandson Jérome Bernard in 1993. Maurice was also predeceased by his parents Xavier and Alma Routhier; brothers, Léo, Laurent, Gérard, Hector and his sisters, Blanche, Florence and Marie.

He will be remembered with great love by Thérèse, his wife of 18 years; daughters, Florence Dufault (Alfred), Doris Poiron (Claude), Evelyne Gauvin (Gérald), Jeanne Poiron (Jean), Blanche Deleurme (Guy), Bertha Nadeau (Claude) and his grandchildren, Claudette and friend (Mike), Rhéal, Denis, Roland, Ginette, Michel, Jérémie, Brigitte, Natalie, Lynne, Mathieu, David, Lianne, Stéphanie, Danielle, Pierre and Nicole. He will also be greatly missed by his brothers Irènée and Aimé; sisters Laurette, Rita, Simone, Antoinette, Lucille, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Maurice was born on December 22, 1924 and grew up on the family farm in Saint-Léon Manitoba. He was the fourth child in a family of fifteen. Maurice worked at numerous jobs for many years away from home before returning to his father's farm.

On November 21st, 1959, Maurice married Irène Rondeau and settled on his father's farm where all of their six daughters were born and raised. Together they worked the land laboriously praying it would hear their plea and reward them plentifully for their toils. After many years on the farm, Maurice and wife Irène sold the farm and moved to Somerset in 1977. On August 16th, 1981, Maurice lost his loved one Irène.

In 1984, Maurice met Thérèse Fredette of Winnipeg and was married on June 29th 1985. Together they resided in Somerset until 1998 and then moved to Winnipeg.

Dad will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors and the many happy hours spent gardening. He especially treasured his time spent with his children and grandchildren and telling us his countless stories of his past. Even though Dad was suffering through his illness, he always had a smile to share with everyone.

Many thanks to all those who accompanied Maurice on his journey home. Our gratitude goes to the personnel at Taché Centre. All of you have been angels at his side.

Adieu Dad, Pépère!
On t'aime beaucoup!

Frances Victoria Sargeant

Her passing is mourned by her loving husband Murray, 2 sons Brad and Brent, one sister Doreen (Wendal), 3 brothers Les (Marian), Andy (Pearl) and Lyle (Gail), 16 nieces and nephews, and many friends. Frances was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Alice, her nephew Raymond, mother-in-law Bessie and by one brother-in-law Allan.

Mom was born and raised in and near Rathwell, Manitoba. She carried fond memories throughout her life of her childhood on the farm and later in the town. As a young woman, Frances worked as a telephone operator for MTS. She and Murray met while they were both working in Treherne. They married on July 12, 1958 and enjoyed 45 years of loving marriage. They lived in Arborg, Ashern and Winkler before moving to Winnipeg, in 1966. Mom worked in the Central Processing Department at Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre from 1966 until her retirement in 1996. Mom and Dad made many friends through the years including neighbors in Winnipeg and at Beresford Lake where they enjoyed natures security.

Mom's greatest pleasure in life was caring for her family. She was a skilled baker and loved to share her treats with any that came through the door. She was active as a Cub Leader for many years. She took great pride in her son's successes. Children were Mom's greatest pleasure. She loved visits from her nieces and nephews as small children, and as they matured, she watched their successes with satisfaction. Mom enjoyed her flower garden very much. She took great pleasure in watching it develop through the summer. We will miss her phone calls and the sound of delight in her voice as she announced each new bud and bloom.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Concordia Hospital Oncology Outpatient Department, the staff on N3E at Concordia Hospital, and especially Dr. Pat Harris for the months of care and loving which they gave mom. They all helped both mom and her family with their kindness, thoughtfullness and care.
