Leo Pittet

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Dad on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the young age of 62 years at Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake, MB.

Anyone who met Leo would agree that to know him was to love him as he seemed to touch anyone he came into contact with. He was a very generous and humble man, open hearted and empathetic. Dad was a great listener but also a great story teller and loved to interact with people.

As kids we remember great times spent with Dad fishing, hunting, going on nature drives and generally enjoying anything outdoors related. Dad was a fierce but fair competitor whether it be cards, hockey pools or Arizona horse shoes.

Later in life he found passion in cooking, canning and gardening. His soup, salsa, paté and antipasto were legendary among his family and friends.

During and after his 35 years as a local business owner Dad prided himself in being active in the community. He served in various capacities with the Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited, Minor Hockey Association, Game and Fish Association and community baseball.

Leo will always be loved and remembered by his wife Alice (Bourrier) of Somerset; sons Gilles, Michael (Sandy) and Martial (Ann) and five grandchildren: Josh, Jenna, Dalton, Noah and Aiden. Leo will also be missed by his four brothers and sister: Gerry (Jeannine), Henri (Marina, deceased), Lorraine (Ron), Roland (Donna), Normand (Carmel); and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Leo was predeceased by his parents Aimé and Marie (Muller).

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame de La Nativité Roman Catholic Church in Somerset, MB. on Wednesday, March 28th, 2007 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
