Michael Garfeild Oliver Little
With deep sadness the family announces the passing of Mike Garfield Oliver Little on February 21, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 47 years.
Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his wife Louise, sons; Warren, Brent, Zack and daughter Isla. As well as his mother Elizabeth, brothers Leslie (Madeline), David (Florence), sisters; Eleanor, Joan, Rosemary and sister in law Madeline, father-in-law Donald, mother-in-law Rebecca, brothers-in-law; Max (Georgina), John (Ann), Stanley (Georgina), Mike and sisters-in-law; Effie, Mary, Beatrice, also numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and very close friends. Mike was predeceased by his father John, brothers; Zack, Marlow and sister Isla.
Mike was a very special, loving person and will be remembered for his good sense of humour, compassion, generosity and kindness. Mike was born and raised in Garden Hill, Manitoba until the time of his sickness, then resided in Winnipeg. The family would like to thank all the families and friends for their support and a special thanks to Chief and Council of Garden Hill First Nation, Red Sucker Lake First Nation, Seven Oaks Hospital, Dialysis Unit, St. Boniface Hospital, SICU Medical Services and Unicity Taxi Cab.
Wake Services will be held Tuesday, February 24 and Wednesday, February 25 at Garden Hill, Manitoba. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26 also at the Henry Fiddler Memorial United Church with Interment to follow in Garden Hill Cemetery. Wife, Mother, Godmother, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, Friend and Teacher.
Lillian was predeceased by her parents: Edwin and Mary Edwards; her Father-in-law: Cornelius Wood; her Brother-in-law: John Joseph Wood; her Grandparents: Charles and Nancy Maytwayashing, John and Pauline Edwards and Delia Edwards; her Brothers: Randy “Charlie” Edwards and Dennis Edwards; her Aunts: Breena Spence, Christina Monkman, Ida Monkman, Rose Mousseau, Leona Edwards, Florence Swan and Margaret Hallson; her Uncles: George Missiabit, Norman Maytwayashing, Barney Swan, and Siggie Hallson.
Lillian is survived by her devoted and loving Husband of 31 years, Charles; her Children: Stephanie, Judy (Jason), Pauline (Steven), Charles Jr. (Ramona). Edwin (Brenda); her Grandchildren: Brittany, Brent, John Joseph, Michael, Dustyn, Morgan, Jarri, Marlon, Sierra, Jade, Corbin, and Kaydence; her Mother-in-law: Veronique Wood; her Siblings: Eddy (Valerie), Freda (Joe), Mariene (Arthur), Peggy (Ron), Susan (John), Lynda (Franklin), Stephen (Cheryl), Emma, Richard, and Kim (Ron); Brothers and Sisters-in-law on her husband’s side: Eugene (Helen), Gerald (Rose), William (Sarah), Eleanor (John), Gilbert (Stella), Cecilia (Chris), Rita (Tommy), Murray (Maureen), Angus (Ida), Maria (Mike), Riley, and Lucy; Aunts and Uncles: Maggie and Jimmy Dunn, Joe Edwards, Lawrence Mousseau, Abraham Monkman, John Baptiste, and Ernest Maytwayashing.
Lillian also leaves to cherish her memory many many cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren on both sides of her family (who are too numerous to mention) and the young people who knew her as “Kookim” or “Teacher”, all of whom she loved very dearly.
Lillian was part of a large extended family from St. Theresa Point and Wassagamack and also the communities of the Interlake Region as well. She spent 26 years in St. Theresa Point and built long-lasting, loving relationships with people young and old.
Lillian grew up in Lake Manitoba reserve. She was the oldest of 12 children. She attended Assiniboia Residential School. She pursued a career in Nursing and worked in the Health field for a few years. She attended Brandon University where she obtained her 4 Year Bachelor of Education Degree. It was there in Brandon where she met lifetime partner Charles. She worked as both teacher and administrator for 26 years, teaching hundreds of children who she always thought and spoke highly of.
Lillian was very outgoing and loved to laugh. She will be missed by those who remember her sense of humor and her ability to make friends instantly. She was a great cook and hostess. Many will remember the gatherings at her house where family laughed and loved.
Lillian began her courageous and unforgettable battle with cancer a year and a half ago. Throughout her illness, she comforted her husband, family and friends. she would often say, “don’t worry, I’m going to be okay” In her struggle, Lillian always thought of others before herself. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother and sister. She worked fulltime and raised a fine family, instilled with values, to carry her memory for generations to come.
Wake services were held at her home in St. Theresa Point from Saturday, February 21 to Monday February 23. The funeral service was held at the St. Theresa Point Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. We the family would like to thank the Chief and Council and the community of St. Theresa Point for their support and kindness.
Precious Pascal
September 13, 1989 - January 21, 2004
In loving memory of our dearest Precious and her unborn Angel. Precious went missing on Sunday January 18, 2004 and sadly recovered on Wednesday January 21, 2004.
Precious will be missed by her mother Lillian, sisters; Eila, Harriet and Priscilla, brothers; John, George, Dieter and Jeremy, brothers and sisters-in-law; Jodi, Cora and Jolene, nephews she adored dearly; Caidon, Aumery, Timothy and Bear and many friends and relatives. Precious was predeceased by her father Rodrick and grandmother Agnes. Precious brought joy and laughter to people around her. She had a gift of brightening up the day. Let us follow her examples of humour. Precious liked helping people. Her dream was to help the sick by becoming a nurse. Precious, thank you for making us laugh, cry and leaving happy memories. We Love You, We Miss You. May you and your Angel rest in peace.

Margaret "Niswe Penase-Kwe" Leona Houle, “Three Thunderbird Woman”
July 03, 1959 - January 28, 2004
Courageously and peacefully with her family at her side, after a brief battle with cancer, Margaret passed away to the Spirit World on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at the Ste. rose General Hospital at the age of 44 years.
Margaret was born on July 3, 1959 at the Ste. Rose General Hospital. She was raised at Bacon Ridge, MB and later moved to Winnipeg.
From the example she received from her traditional parents, Margaret lived by her traditional Anishnabe beliefs and teachings. Margaret had a way of making each and everyone one of us feel special and was an inspiration to all of us: A daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The pursuit of knowledge only came second to her love for and devotion to her family and friends. Her academic accomplishments were a source of pride and her achievements were in no small part due to the example that she set. In 2001, Margaret graduated with her Grade 12 diploma and further attained her Aboriginal Language Specialist Diploma from Red River Community College in 2003 and was elected class valedictorian.
Margaret was predeceased by her grandparents Edith Flett, Alice Malcolm, Pierre Houle, & George Malcolm, her step-grandparents Walter Flett and Joe Garneau, her aunts Alice Mousseau & Delma Rose Davis and her brother Donald.
She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children: James (Nancy), Monica (Jeff), Donald (Melissa), Gina all of Winnipeg, her special friend Barry Scully fo Winnipeg, her parents, Mary & Percy Houle, her brother and sisters Denise (Harold), Dennis (Suzie), Leon (Sharon), Lucille (Dwayne), Olga (Emile), Fern (Doug), Percy Jr, and Darcy (Selena) all of the Ebb & Flow First Nation, her godchildren Tara & Amber along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and internet friends.
A traditional wake gathering of family and friends to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2004 beginning at 3:00 pm from the Ebb & Flow First Nation Band Hall. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2004 at 2:00 pm from the Ebb & Flow First Nation Band Hall. Reverend Father Dominique Kerbrat will officiate with the interment following in the Ebb & Flow Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of GD 6th floor of the Health Sciences Centre, the Certified Stretcher Service and the nursing staff of the Ste. Rose General Hospital for all fo their kindness, care and support shown to Margaret and her family during their time of need. Thank you also for all of the monetary support the family received from the Ebb & Flow First Nation, Health Centre, Education Authority and all community members and agencies. Active pallbearers will be; Denis Houle, Leon Houle, Percy Houle Jr, Darcy C. Houle, Douglas Ferland and Dwayne Malcolm. It is with great sadness that we share the passing of James Lloyd on Friday, February 6, 2004 at the Health Science Centre at the age of 57 years.
Predeceased by his father Bob, Jim is survived by his mother Iona and brother Graham, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mary Evelyn Fontaine
January 16, 1940 - January 27, 2004
Peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre, Mary Evelyn Fontaine passed away at the age of 64 years. Mary was born in Poplar River on January 16, 1940, residing there her entire life. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends and many family activities. Her home was always open. She enjoyed cooking and loved when her family would come over for a meal. Her greatest pride was her grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory seven daughters : Sophia Hansen (Russell), Elva Bruce (Jimmy), Virginia Batenchuk (Donald), Margie Fontaine (Wes), Frieda Fontaine, Beatrice Hendry (Brad) and Matilda Bittern (Tom), three sons; William Fontaine Jr. (Brenda), Clarence Fontaine (Amanda) and Louie Fontaine, 43 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, mother-in-law Esther Bruce, sisters-in-law Annie Bernard and Virginia Whitehead, brothers-in-law Paul Bruce and Alex Bruce. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband William Fontaine Sr., granddaughter Erica Bruce and three grandsons; Faron Bruce, Wendel Fontaine and Wade Batenchuck.
Prayers were said on Tuesday, January 27, at 8 :00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 72 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg. Wake Services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, Thursday, January 29 and Friday January 30 at Poplar River. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 1 :00 p.m. at the Poplar River Community Church, Poplar River Manitoba with Pastor Allan Sinclair officiating. Maxine Joyce Tobacco 1944 - 2004 Peacefully with her family at her side, Maxine passed away on Saturday January 24, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 59 years. Maxine was born on March 2, 1944 at Sioux Valley. After getting married in April 20, 1963, Maxine and her husband Joseph resided on Long Plain Reserve for nine years and for the past 31 years in Winnipeg. Maxine enjoyed the outdoors, loved nature and enjoyed her walks. She will be missed by her special cats, Blacky and Spots, whom she adored. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and attending Pow Wows. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her husband and best friend Joseph, five daughters; Rose(Cecil), Cindy, Jackie (Richard), Nancy (Skender) and Jody (Gary), two sons; Joseph Jr. and Verne, 22 Grandchildren; Michael, Memoree, Spering, Rosie, Seace, Krystal, Richard Jr., Kayla, Karie, Kara, Qemal, Bekim, Gage, Jade, Sage, Gair, Brendon, Brandon, Brent, Brady, Brylynn and Larissa, and one great grandchild Michael Jr., five sisters; Margaret, Lillian, Leona, Kimberly and Claudette, two brothers; Colin and David, special aunt Lorraine Tacan and special cousins; Catherine and Ron Mousseau and Shirley Doota, father-in-law Archie Tobacco and sister-in-law Margaret Tobacco. With his family by his side, Ronald Wayne McIntyre passed away on January 22, 2004 in Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 62 years.
