Tina Dyck
Peacefully in the afternoon on Monday, August 24, 2009, our beloved mother, Tina Dyck passed away at the Seven Regions Hospital Palliative Care Unit at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 16 days.
Mom was born in Aberdeen district in Saskatchewan on April 8, 1929. In 1946, at the age of 16, she lost her mother and infant brother in child birth. She then helped look after her siblings until her dad remarried in 1947. She was baptised upon the confession of her faith in 1948 at the age of 19 years. In June of 1953, mom moved to St. Laurent, Manitoba with her family. Here she met dad and they were married on June 26, 1955. They farmed together in the Muir area where five of their children were born. In June of 1962, they decided to move to Bolivia with friends. After two months things didn’t work out well so they decided to move back to Manitoba. They continued farming on their Muir farm where three more children were born. In April of 1985, they sold their farm and moved to Austin where they resided until dad was put into the MacGregor Care Home. Mom then sold their place in Austin and moved to MacGregor to be closer to dad, where she resided until she was admitted to palliative care in Gladstone.
Mom had many struggles in her life, but her strong faith and her trust in the Lord carried her on everyday. She was a faithful and strong loving Christian wife and mother. Her children were what kept her going throughout the many years of hardship.
In July 2005, Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. On August 5th she had surgery to remove the tumour. She was then cancer free until 2009 where it showed up in her lungs. The cancer then spread to the rest of her body. Mom went into palliative care, where she spent the rest of her days until her passing.
Mom leaves to mourn her passing, her 6 sons and 2 daughters; Henry (Jane) of Edrans, Manitoba, Herman (Peggy) of Gladstone, Manitoba, John (Judy) of Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Eva (Menno) Janzen of Hague, Saskatchewan, Peter (Susan) of Gladstone, Manitoba, Martha (John) Wiebe of Stuartburn, Manitoba, Ed (Darlene) of MacGregor, Manitoba, Abe (Lisa) of Edrans, Manitoba ; 48 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, her stepmother, 8 brothers, 5 sisters, numerous in-laws, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and numerous in-laws.
We the family would like to thank each and everyone who showed their love and support in prayer and visitation for our mother. A special thank you to the staff of the Seven Regions Health Centre for all their care and support.

Viewing took place Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Clarke’s Funeral Chapel, MacGregor.
Funeral service was held Friday, August 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor Sommerfeld Church with Rev. Abe Guenther officiating. Pallbearers were her sons Henry, Herman, John, Peter, Ed and Abe. Honourary Pallbearers were her daughters Eva Janzen and Martha Wiebe. Ushers were Rod Martens, Marvin Giesbrecht, John Bueckert, David Martens, Darryl Dyck and Garth Dyck. Interment followed in the Reinland Cemetery.

Ruby Pervilla Simpson (nee HYNDMAN)
Peacefully on Wednesday, August 26 at the Country Meadows Personal Care Home in Neepawa, Ruby Simpson passed away two months before her 100th birthday. She had been a resident of Country Meadows for the past 4 years.
Ruby was born October 26, 1909 in Myrtle, Man where she was raised and attended school. As a young woman Ruby enjoyed travelling. In 1946 Ruby married Jock Simpson and they moved to Kelwood, Manitoba. Ruby later moved to Neepawa where she resided until her death. Ruby enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her many friends in the Yellowhead Manor.
Ruby was predeceased by her husband Jock Simpson in 1963; her sister Rowena Thornton; her two brothers Harvey and John Hyndman (Beatrice); niece Sharon Skanderbeg and nephew George Boivin. She is survived by nephews Bill Hyndman (Marlene) of Winnipeg and Bob Hyndman (Lillian) of Calgary and nieces Myrtle Kardash (George) of Brandon, Leita Boivin of Winnipeg, Trudy Haines (Jack) of Calgary and Neville Skanderbeg (Mary) of Waldersee. Also left surviving are many great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Neepawa United Church with Rev. Alan Armstrong officiating. Pallbearers were Neville Skanderbeg, Bill Hyndman, Steve Hyndman, Darwin Gork and Brian Skanderbeg. Family interment followed in the Kelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

James Eagle
James Eagle passed away on August 30, 2009 in Sandy Bay First Nation at the age of 72 years.
He was predeceased by his biological parents Mildred Shaffer and Harold James Shaffer (Good Eagle); his grandfather Stuart Good Eagle; the parents that raised him Ada and Noah VanEvery; brothers Steven and twin brothers who were stillborn premature; sister Elizabeth Morgan; children Angel Eagle, Rocky, Hazel, Karen and Tarz; father in law Edward Beaulieu; brother in law Karl Beaulieu and son in law Len.
Jim is survived by his wife of 17 years Helen; his 33 children Achaessa (Miguel), Trudy (Allen), Doris, Nicole (Bobby), Serena (Jeremy), Amaris (John), Amber (Trey), Eleanor, William, Jenelle, Karl, Gabriel, Ashlee (Malesio), Scott (Debbie) and Danny (Cheryl); brothers George (Cathy) and Joe; sisters Judy (Don), Johnalyn (Russ), Ilene (Ron), Gina (Tony) and Joyce (Don); grandchildren Frankie Joe, Alexis, Randel, Crista, Pheonix, Xvanier, Stephon, Jenna, Sammi, Sevanna, Magdelana, Miranda, Marco and many more; mother in law Mary Beaulieu; sisters in law Edwina (Darren) Soldier, Jean Beaulieu and Claudette Beaulieu (Anthony); brother in law Maxim (Jennifer) Beaulieu and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wake began on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the family residence in Sandy Bay First Nation, MB. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, September 3, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the family residence with J.D Gibson officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers were Maxim Beaulieu, Brian Bibson, Terry Morgan, Del Assiniboine, Norman Campbell and Keith Pasche.

Moyra Patricia Wallwin
It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Moyra Patricia Wallwin on September 2, 2009.
Moyra was born on March 8, 1919 to James and Alice Watson in Manchester County, England. At 3 months of age she came across to Canada with her family and settled in Montreal near her father’s family. Although her father died early in her life, Moyra had fond memories of growing up with her sisters amid the love of her mother and her father’s parents, his brothers and 1 sister. She was bilingual at the time of her marriage and was still able to communicate reasonably well in French after 50 years of living in western Canada. This was a skill she was proud of maintaining.
In 1945, Moyra married William Charles Wallwin and returned with him to his home province of Manitoba. Most of their married life was spent in the northern towns of Bissett and Lynn Lake where she raised their 4 children and fully participated in community activities. Adapting to life in isolated communities was a challenge for a young woman from a large city but Moyra met those challenges head on and the humorous stories she told of those early days kept the family entertained through many mealtimes. In the early years closer to Moyra and Bill’s retirement, the family lived in Ochre River and Dauphin.
Moyra, along with her husband Bill, worked hard to give their children the best life possible. This led her down many varied and interesting career paths. The one she identified with the most was her work in optometrist offices. This was where she worked in Montreal at the time of her marriage and she found it very satisfying when she was able to pursue this later in life. At other times she worked in a bakery, at a theatre, as a cosmetologist and as a store clerk where she also coordinated and commentated at fashion shows.
Her talent for writing was well known in the communities Moyra lived in and her poems were often the highlight at birthday parties and other events. She wrote a column for the “Lynn Lake Lyre” that was not just a social column but also provided commentary on life as Moyra saw it – sometimes humorous, sometimes controversial. She continued writing pieces right up until a few weeks before her passing.
Moyra’s interest in people was life long. She hated to think of people being alone and many Christmas meals were shared with those loved ones who were far away. She also took an interest in the well being of the neighbourhood children and hosted baking classes, square dances and other activities for them in her home. At the care home in Gladstone where she spent the last 4 ½ years of her life, she took time to talk to or to hold the hand of fellow residents she felt were lonely or sad.
Moyra was predeceased by her husband Bill and was the last surviving member of her generation in both families. She is survived by her children Lee (Ian) Watson, Jack Wallwin, Pearl (Ron) Morris and Noreen Wallwin.
She is also survived by her grandchildren of whom she was very proud, Paula Watson, Bill (Danielle) Morris, Nancy Morris and great grandchild Nicholas Morris.

James Edward (Jim) MacDonald
With his family by his side Jim MacDonald passed away September 4, 2009 at the Health Science Centre at the age of 73 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Hector and Adeline MacDonald; his mother and father in law Bill and Alice Bodie; brother-in-law Lorne Anderson; sister-in-law Enid MacDonald and nephew David Bayer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years Marie; his son Dale (Sherry) and grandchildren Chad (Kristyn), Cara (Lee), Devon and Deirdre; daughter Linda (Michael) and grandchildren Cassi and Sheryl; son Doug (Trish) and grandchildren Cody and Kimberly. He will also be missed by his “adopted” family Robert, Cindy and children Michael (Brittany), Eric, Kate-Lynne (Jeff), Dylan and Lacey Manastyr. He is also survived by his siblings Larry (Pat), Raymond, Donnie (Bev), Caroline (Murray), Gordon (Dayle), Jeanette (Ed), Allan (Gerri), Edwin, Beverly; also by his sisters-in-law Marg (Murray), Barb (Ron) and brother-in-law Glen (Vicki); along with many nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Portage La Prairie on June 9, 1936 the oldest son of Hector and Adeline MacDonald.
Jim spent time with his grandchildren, driving around visiting neighbours, helping whoever needed help whether they wanted it or not. Jim worked at many different jobs over the years too many to list and in many different places. He enjoyed 20 years at the Esso Service Station where he met many different and interesting people.
He loved to hunt, especially after his grandchildren were old enough to go with him. He was always interested in what his family was doing and helped them whenever he could.
Viewing was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Clarke's Funeral Chapel, MacGregor. Funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor United Church. Interment followed in the MacGregor Cemetery.

Alice Lillian Anderson
Alice Lillian Anderson passed away at Third Crossing Manor on September 8, 2009 at the age of 94 years. She was born in 1914 in MacDonald, MB. Her parents moved there from Grand Forks. They had three boys Almer, Clarence and Kenneth and three girls Mabel, Gladys and Alice.
Mom’s parents moved to Amaranth in 1915 and in 1924 they moved to Golden Stream where Mom went to school.
Horses were Mom’s pride. She trained them for bare back riding. She was also a great lover of cats.
She married Lauge Anderson in 1931 and they built their house, then moved in. They had two girls Heloise and Carole. Mom raised chickens and sold eggs to various people. They also had beef cattle and milk cows that she milked and would then take the cream to Gladstone creamery.
Alice was a hard worker. She grew big gardens and she made great meals. Pies were her dessert and often farmers would arrange to drop off an implement right at mealtime for Dad to fix.
She will be sadly missed forever. A very Loving and Lovely Mom.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:30 pm in the Gladstone United Church with Rev. Marg Scott officiating. Interment followed at Katrime Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darryl Mauthe, Bob Olson, Jerry Hillman, Gerald McGowan, Danny Novak and Allen Jones. Gertrude (Trudy) Magdalena Oswald
Entered into rest at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone on September 9, 2009 at the age of 93 years. She was born Gertrude Hanke on March 29, 1916 at Waldersee where she grew up and attended Cory School.
In 1933 Trudy married William Oswald and they farmed in the Falmouth School District. In 1959 they moved to Amaranth and in 1969 moved to Plumas. For the last number of years she has resided at Third Crossing Manor. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Caroline Hanke; her husband William and her infant daughter Joyce Nancy Oswald. She is also predeceased by her 6 brothers and 6 sisters Hugh Hanke, Elizabeth Hanke, Ida Single, Natalie Flatt, Lena Lissner, Edward Hanke, Tillie Krantz, Henry Hanke, John Hanke, Elsie Krantz, Bill Hanke and George Hanke.
She is survived by 3 sisters Edna Oswald of Plumas, Frieda Oswald of Portage and Anne Antoniuk of Plumas. Trudy enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, curling, baseball and travelling especially the many winters spent in Texas. She was also very fond of her pet dog Chi Chi.
Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Plumas Community Hall with Pastor Richard Klein officiating. Interment followed in the Plumas Cemetery.

Jean Miriam Lowe
Passed away peacefully on September 15, 2009 at Brandon Regional Health Centre with her family by her side. Jean was born May 1, 1921 in Saskatchewan and was the youngest and last survivor of three children born to William and Sadie Beatty. Jean married Roy Lowe in 1952 and had three daughters. Jean was as active member in the Austin Community and a member of the Austin United Church. Jean relocated to Brandon in 1994.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Sadie Beatty; her father and mother-in-law Tom and Beulah Lowe; her husband Roy Lowe in 1958; her special sons-in-law Walter Gray and Harold Hulbert; sister Reba Makinson and brother Claud Beatty; brothers-in-law William Makinson, Jack Leslie, Carl Jedel, Ralph Lowe and Tom Ayers and sister-in-law Gladys Beatty. Leaving to cherish her memory are her three daughters Karen Hulbert of Brandon, Manitoba, Donna Gray of Mississauga, Ontario and Betty Lowe of Brandon, Manitoba; four very special grandchildren Erin Gray of Santa Cruz, California, Kevin Hulbert of Toronto, Ontario, Lisa Hulbert of Edinburgh, Scotland and Matthew Gray of Mississauga, Ontario; as well as one brother-in-law; numerous sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Jean’s life was held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the MacGregor United Church. A private graveside service will follow at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at Valley View Lodge for the excellent care provided to Jean as a resident there. Special thanks to Dr.Caplan and the team on the 200 surgical ward for the compassionate and attentive care given to Jean and her family during her stay.

Thomas Wylie Milne
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Wylie Milne on September 19th at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Tom passed away doing what he loved, riding a horse. Tom was born to Ken and Helen Milne in Gladstone, Manitoba on May 23, 1950. He was raised on the family farm in Mekiwin.
Tom married Vikki Anderson in November of 1972 and they returned to the farm in the spring of 1973. In September 2001 Tom and Vikki moved to Bowden, Alberta to be closer to their children.
Tom enjoyed farm life, loved riding and training horses, playing hockey, coaching minor hockey, and loved spending time with friends and family. Tom was a trustree on the Pine Creek School Division for thirteen years. He strongly believed in community involvement and was always there to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. After moving to Bowden, Tom found that his new passion in life was team penning. He volunteered on the Central Alberta Team Penning Association and spent most weekends team penning with Vikki and their large group of new friends.
He was predeceased by his father Ken and mother Helen. Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife Vikki; daughter Julie; son Scott; Julie’s husband Andy Jeffery; his beloved grandchildren Beck and Audrey Jeffery; brothers Wendal (Wendy) and Ivan Milne; sister Terry Balmer (Greg) and their families and his extended family on the Anderson side.
A celebration of Tom’s life was held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Gladstone District Community Centre with Pastor Randy Fehr officiating. Lunch followed at the Gladstone District Community Centre. A private family interment followed at the Mekiwin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Balmer, Chad Balmer, David Balmer, Mathew Milne, Mark Milne and Bradly Anderson. Jaycee Lynn Audrina Catcheway
Passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Jaycee will be sadly missed by her parents Destiny Lynn Pelletier and Jordan Catcheway; grandparents Terry Roulette, Bev Pelletier, Izzy Sr. and Rachel Vermette; great grandparents Garry and Lena Spence; great-great grandparents Earl and Irene Pelletier; great aunties Shannon, Nicole and Heaven; aunties Sadie, Dana, Payton, Destiny, Chasity, Izzette and Christina; uncles Dylan, Izzy Jr. and Justice as well as special cousin Desjai.
Wake was held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Irene Pelletier's Residence in Sandy Bay First Nation. Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Amaranth, Manitoba with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Pallbearers were Heaven Pelletier, Dylan Pelletier, Destiny Catcheway and Izzy Vermette Jr. Interment took place in the Sandy Bay Cemetery.
