Ian A. Morton of Deloraine, wife of Jean, died at the Bren-Del-Win Lodge on September 5, 2001 age 77. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Deloraine United Church, Deloraine, Manitoba. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Norman Russell Lloyd Adams died at the Deloraine Health Centre on October 10, 2001, age 69. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Goodlands United Church, Goodlands, Manitoba. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society. John Arthur Ross of Killarney, died suddenly on October 9, 2001, age 56, beloved husband of Janice. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Killarney Mennonite Church on Bay Avenue, Killarney. DUKE
William Robert (Bob) Duke passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, Manitoba with his family by his side at 67 years of age. Bob is survived by his wife June, daughter Sherry (JD) Boyd and children Sydney and Denton of Winnipeg, and daughter Norma (Todd) Hellyer and children Mike and Scott of Brandon, brothers Don (Viv) Duke, Lloyd (Marjorie) Duke, brother-in-law Norman Edie, sister-in-law Betty Lou Snyder and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Fred and Mary Duke (father and mother) Milton Duke (brother), Lois Edie (sister), Tom and Helena Finney (father and mother-in-law), Glen Snyder (brother-in-law) and Maxine and Sam Harper (sister and brother-in-law). Born April 18, 1934 in Redvers, Saskatchewan, the youngest of five children to Fred and Mary Duke. At the age of ten the family moved to the Harmsworth District where they had purchased farmland. Hunting, baseball, curling and fishing were a major part of his early life. Married on October 19, 1956 to June Finney of Elkhorn, Manitoba they continued to farm on the family land until 1979. Together they raised two daughters. After moving from the farm into Virden in 1979, Bob started work for a few years as a car salesman with Fowler Chev Olds. At the same time horse racing came to be a big part of his life first traveling the circuit throughout Manitoba and then to Saskatchewan and Alberta for the next twelve years. Funeral service was held Saturday, November 17, 2001 at Carscadden Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brenda Ferguson officiating. Ushers were Doug Sexsmith and Keith Wadham. Nephew Jim Duke of Edmonton gave eulogy. Interment was at Bennett Cemetery. Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. Arrangements were with G. R. Carscadden Funeral Services Virden.

Elsie Lillian passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior with family at her side, on December 7, 2001, after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband, Charles Thomas “Tom” Egan. She will always be lovingly remembered by their children, Joan (Ross) Dickie of Kimball, Minnesota and Wayne (Janet) Egan of Cultus Lake, British Columbia. Elsie was grandmother to: Jeff Egan, Derek (Laura) Egan, Jackie (Wade) Kehler, Timothy (Tanya) Dickie and Shannon Kelly. She was also great grandmother to: Torrey, Donovan, Jada, Carsen, Brenden, and Riley. Elsie was a sister to James (the late Elsie) Larson and Lorraine (Albert) Taylor. She was also an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was born in Portage la Prairie, January 6, 1915, where she resided until 1965 when she and her husband moved to Brandon, Manitoba. She was a member of the Faith Fellowship Baptist Church. A very special thanks to Mabel, Ethel and Joanie, and all those who were so kind to her at the Lion’s Manor. The family would like to thank Dr. Bergner and his nurses. Funeral service was held at Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, Brandon on Tuesday, December 11, 2001. Pastor Brian Kirsch and Pastor Robert Dunlop officiated. Elsie's grandchildren acted as pallbearers. Following Elsie’s wishes flowers are gratefully declined. Passed away at the Wawanesa & District Health Centre on Sunday, December 9, 2001 at the age of 75 years, Wilfred John MacKay, of Belmont, Manitoba. Wilf leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Angie (nee Cramer), son Delbert and wife Lisa of Ninette, grandchildren Justin and Natasha, as well as numerous relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hilton Cemetery. A celebration of Wilf’s life will be held also on Friday, at 2:00 p.m. in the Knox United Church, Belmont, Manitoba with Rev. Doug Craig officiating. John Douglas, beloved husband of Dora White, entered into rest December 10, 2001 at the age of 59 years. Survived by wife Dora; children: Barry, Brian, Vaughn, Kendra, and Nathan; grandchildren: Dustin, Quintana, and Graeson. Funeral service will be held in the Yellowhead Center, Neepawa on Thursday, December 13, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Ball officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa. ANTONIUK Basil
William (Bill) Antoniuk of Rideau Park Personal Care Home passed away on March 6, 2002 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Bill was born on November 22, 1919 on the family farm at Petora, Polynia near Poschika in the western Ukraine. Bill had six sisters and one brother. The family came to Canada in 1929 and farmed in the Grass River area. In 1940, he joined the Canadian Army at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He took his training in Dundurn, Saskatchewan and Vancouver, British Columbia where he met his future wife Anne Powshik. In 1941, Bill was sent overseas to join the Seaforth Islanders Regiment of the Canadian Army. He saw action in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and England. On October 5, 1945, he returned to Canada and on November 21, 1945, he married Anne Powshik, of Brandon. They farmed for four years at High Bluff, Manitoba. Their only child, a daughter Joanne Lee (Joey) was born on November 19, 1947. They then moved to Brandon where Bill operated a trucking service, car lot, and Bills Esso Service. Bill retired in January of 1987. He loved fishing and hunting with his brother-in-law, Bill Tarr and Howard Needham. He also enjoyed trips in the motor home with his family. They went East, West, and South to parts of the United States. They also went to the Narrows to Anne's sister and brother-in-law, Paulette and Howard Needham. Bill was very strong in his faith, and very active in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He was president of the church and helped at the Ukrainian National Home until poor health took over. He was president of the Brandon Figure Skating Club. One of his proudest moments was when his daughter passed her tests in Figure Skating. He enjoyed going to the ice shows that his daughter put on when she taught Figure Skating, especially when she skated to a Ukrainian Kolomayka. Bill also served as vice-president, president and past-president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 247. He is survived by his only child, daughter, Joanne Lee (Joey). Surviving are sisters, brother, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews as well as relatives in the Ukraine. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Anne; his father, Michael; mother, Anastasia; sisters, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. His daughter's two pets, the puppy \"Cindie\", and the cat \"Pretty Lady\" will miss the outing to the Personal Care Home to see Grampa. The funeral service was held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, March 12, 2002 with Fr. Ihor Okhrimlchouk officiating. The Legion Honour Guard was Tom Allnutt, John Hood, Larry Robertson, Jack Tuttle, John Villers and Russ Roney from Branch #3. Pallbearers were Tony Makarchuk, Alex Makarchuck, Howard Needham, Darren Needham, Keith Glennie and Dennis Nystedt. The piper was Roy Middleton. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
