Jessie Eileen Claxton

Peacefully at the Pembina Manitou Health Centre on Wednesday June 4, 2003, Mrs. Jessie Claxton of Somerset, Manitoba passed away at the age of 94 years.
Funeral Services were held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel in London, Ontario on Monday June 9, 2003 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Pembina Manitou Health Centre or to a charity of choice.

Joseph Hince

Joseph "Joe" Hince, aged 70 years, beloved husband of Beatrice, nee Lambert, of Swan Lake, and formerly of Emerson and Morris, passed away on Saturday March 8, 2003 at the Morris General Hospital.
Besides Beatrice, he leaves to mourn his passing stepdaughter Amanda and husband Chris Plamondon of Winnipeg; brothers, Alphonse, Louis, and Henry Hince all of Winnipeg; and sisters, Adele Bellec of St. Claude and Mary Bellec of Ste. Anne. He was predeceased by his parents, Edmond and Marie Louise (Lambert) Hince; and sister Denise Gautron.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass was celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Saturday May 31, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Father Rodrigue Bouchard officiating. Interment followed in the Parish Cemetery.

Joseph Encontre

Peacefully at the Notre Dame Hospital on Sunday May 25, 2003, Mr. Joseph Encontre of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away at the age of 71 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing 3 sisters: Augustine Encontre of Notre Dame, Berthe Baron of Langley, B.C., Blandine (Carlo) D'Angiolo of Winnipeg; 3 brothers: Marcel Encontre and Martial Encontre both of Notre Dame and François (Gertrude) Encontre of St. Pierre; 2 brothers-in-law: Médard Rossier and Gianni Favaro; one sister-in-law Mary Rousset, and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by 5 sisters: Genevieve, Gertrude, Jeannette, Léa and Anna; and by 3 brothers: Cyprien, Jean-Baptiste and Bart.
Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Thursday May 29, at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Friday May 30, 2003, at 2 p.m. preceded by Recitation of the Rosary at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Bernadette Philippe

Peacefully at the St. Claude Hospital on Wednesday May 14, 2003, Bernadette Philippe of St. Claude, Manitoba passed away at the age of 82 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing two brothers: Yves and John (Pamela), three sisters: Sr. Marie, Germaine and Rose and by numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents François and Marie Anne, two brothers: Louis and Julien and by one sister Julienne (Leonard) Dion.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday May 20, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Father Rodrigue Bouchard officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Andre C. Carriere
January 3, 1947 - May 9, 2003

A loving father, husband, friend and mentor to many, passed away on Friday May 9, 2003. Andre was born along the banks of the Red River near St. Adolphe, Manitoba. Strong family bonds were created as the family worked side by side on their market garden. These times were among his fondest memories, and helped shape his strong work ethic.
In 1969, he joined the Rural Municipality of Cartier where he served as Chief Administrative Officer for over 33 years. He was truly passionate about his work and never lost sight that his position was to serve the rate payers to the best of his ability. In addition, through the years he also served on many committees and community organizations.
Despite his physical challenges, Andre showed a great passion for life which served as an inspiration for all who knew him. His family and friends will always carry fond memories of Andre's wild tales, and silly songs in their hearts.
Predeceased by his parents Charles and Rose-Anna Carriere, Andre leaves many to carry on the torch and to miss him every day. His son Todd (Tracy), daughter Lisa, their mother, and best friend Joy Carriere, his "amour not" Vivian Smith, step children Rielle Smith (John Finkbeiner), Francois Smith. Also left to mourn the loss of their beloved brother are, Ellen (Rene) Gratton, Erneste (Gloria) Carriere, Eveline (Armand) Levesque, Hugette (Marc) Phaneuf, and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Paroisse St. Eustache Church in St. Eustache Manitoba on Thursday May 15 at 10:30 a.m.
Flowers not necessary, thoughts and memories, cherished. Donations in Andre's memory may be made to Canadian Blood Services, Kidney Foundation or, Arthritis Society.

Peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Notre Dame Foyer on Saturday May 10, 2003, Mr. Gabriel Vuignier of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away at the age of 84 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing 7 children: Rhéal (Yvonne) of Rathwell, Norbert (Cathy) of Notre Dame, Annette (Joseph) Viallet of St. Laurent, Raymond of Notre Dame, Hubert (Lorraine) of Notre Dame, Jocelyne (Luc, deceased) Bazin of Notre Dame, Micheline (Guy) Lesage of Notre Dame, 21 grandchildren: Marilyne, Reginald, Angeline, Brigitte, Pierre, Micheline, Norbert, Kenny, Gary, Corey, Tiffany, Lacey, Josée, Natalie, Christian, Rachelle, Roland, Melanie, Sylvie, Stephane and Nadine and 5 great-grandchildren: Marie, Daniel, Nicholas, Abigail and Troy. He also leaves to mourn 1 brother Adelard (Marie) Vuignier, 5 sisters: Louise Davy, Thaïs Vuignier, S. Odile Vuignier, Agnes (Norman) LaFontaine and Marie-Ange (Wilfred) Vodon. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Elise (née Tranq) in 1989, his father Jean-Baptiste in 1951, his mother Madeline (née Gaspoz) in1959, 9 brothers: Georges, Henri, Jean-Baptiste, Joseph, Albert, Albert, Noël, Paul and Antoine, 3 sisters: Thérèse, Thérèse and Lucie, and by one son-in-law Luc Bazin in 2000.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday May 14, 2003 at 2 p.m. preceded by Recitation of the Rosary at 1:30 with Father Marcel Damphousse officiating. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.

Robert Dion

Courageously at the St. Claude Hospital on Sunday April 27, 2003, Mr. Robert Dion of St. Claude, Manitoba passed away at the age of 76 years.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Angèle (nee Le Garff) and 2 children: Louise and husband Norman Tougas of Thunder Bay and Jean and wife Joan Dion of St. Claude and 5 grandchildren: Patrick (Karri), Michelle (Andrew), Mario, Mia and Marquie. He also leaves to mourn 3 sisters: Madeleine, Marie-Blanche and Isabelle and in-laws: Omer, Marie, Berthe and Jeanne and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by 3 sisters: Elizabeth, Estelle and Simone, 5 brothers: Camille, Léonard, Georges, Roméo and Ferdinand and also by one infant daughter.
Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Tuesday April 29, 2003 at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday April 30, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Father Rodrigue Bouchard officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Peacefully at the Lions Prairie Manor on Saturday October 4, 2003, Mr. Léon Debusschere of St. Claude, Manitoba passed away at the age of 73 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing 3 brothers: Auguste (Thérèse) of Haywood, Edward (Rolande) of Winnipeg and Robert (Pauline) of Portage; 3 sisters: Angèle Mazurat of St. Claude, Alice (Roland) Dondo of St. Claude and Marie-Rose Major of St. Claude, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Marie-Louise (née Durupt), and by 2 brothers-in-law: Albert Major and Albert Mazurat.
With respect for Léon's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Haywood, Manitoba on Friday October 10, at 2 p.m. preceded by Recitation of the Rosary at 1:30. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Beatrice Piché (nee Arnal)

Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Monday September 29, 2003, Mrs. Beatrice Piché of Fannystelle, Manitoba, passed away at the age of 83 years.
Beatrice was born in Fannystelle, Manitoba on April 27, 1920 to Almir and Bertha (née Besse) Arnal. She leaves to mourn her passing 2 children: Ralph and wife Sylvie Piché of Fannystelle, Lorraine and husband Raymond Bernardin of St. Eustache; 6 grandchildren: Jeanine, Marc (fiancée Sara Clark), Jim (Kestrel), Lise Piché; Philippe and Jocelyne Bernardin. She also leaves to cherish her memory 7 sisters: Gertrude Obee, Hélène Piché, Lilianne Beaudry, Florence Tilt (William), Irène Kuhl, Rita Albert (Camil) and Lorraine Tinckam; 6 brothers: Léo (Stella), Louis (Melanie), Vincent (Gertrude), René (Pat), Jules (Gladys) and Richard (Claire); 5 sisters-in-law: Gisèle Piché, Marcelle Caron, Rolande Piché, Denise Piché and Carol Arnal; 2 brothers-in-law Paul Piché (Lorraine) and Paul Black, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bruno Piché in 2001, 2 sisters: Denise Marinoff and Clara Black; and by one brother Alfred.
Beatrice was a person devoted to her family, her community and her parish. She cherished the time with her grandchildren and mémère was a friend to all of them. As a former piano teacher she especially enjoyed the time she and Jocelyne spent at the piano. Mom's passion was her garden and her flower beds. She spent many happy hours tending to her own plants as well as some community areas, always willing to share her love and knowledge of gardening with grandchildren and neighbors.
In spite of physical hardships, Beatrice maintained her independence and self-reliance. Poor eyesight and home dialysis were part of her life, they were challenges that she accepted and dealt with all the while living in her own home. She will be missed as an active member of family, church and community by many.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Fannystelle Roman Catholic Church on Thursday October 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Father Armand LeGal officiating. Cremation to follow with interment in the Parish Cemetery at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 200-255 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8.
A special thank-you to Dr. Junaid and Dr. Henry at the St. Boniface as well as the caring staff of 5E. Special recognition to Eva and the staff of the dialysis unit at the St. Boniface Hospital. Your kindness and caring has not gone unnoticed.

Isabelle Philippot

Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday September 21, 2003, Isabelle Philippot passed away at the age of 80 years.
Isabelle was born in St. Claude, Manitoba on May 23, 1923, the fifth child of a family of 11 children.
She leaves to mourn her passing 6 brothers: Julien, Charles (Lucienne), Alexis (Josette), Joseph (Yvonne), Henri (Cecile), Raymond (Laurette); 3 sisters: Nathalie, Adrienne (José), Louise (Aimé) along with many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Alexis and Marie (Philippe) Philippot; one sister Angele Oliviero, two brothers-in-law: André Oliviero and Arthur Jacques; and by two sisters-in-law: Claire and Mariette
Prayers will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2003 at 8 p.m. at Adam's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday September 25, 2003 at the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jean-Jacques Serçeau officiating. Cremation to follow with interment in the Parish Cemetery at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Mental Health Association or to the St. Claude Pavilion.
