He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his parents, Walter and Marianne Hoshowski and brother Corey of Steinbach, Grandmother Victoria Hoshowski, Aunt Linda and Uncle Warren Klassen, Uncle Gary and Aunt Debbie Hoshowski, all of Winnipeg, Man., Uncle Paul and Aunt Mary Bezditny of Grunthal, Man., numerous cousins and great uncles and aunts, especially Baba Honda and Gigi John.

Matt was born in Winnipeg, April 10, 1984. He attended the Southwood Elementary School, Steinbach Junior High and the Steinbach Regional Secondary School. He was currently employed at South East Forest Products in Blumenort, Man.

Matt will always be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched, for his zest for life, sense of humor and fun-loving adventurous nature. He enjoyed many sports and was an avid fan and spectator. He played baseball for many years and was a great back catcher and loved stealing bases. Matt was proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He received many medals over the years for his energetic performances in Ukrainian dance. He could get great `air' in his jumps. He was a caring and giving friend to many.

A celebration of Matt's life was held July 19, 2004 at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church in Steinbach, with Father Deacon Leon Twerdun officiating. Interment followed at the Pansy St. Peter & St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Because Matt had so many good friends, all were considered as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Corey Hoshowski, Josh Loewen, Tim Harms, Bob Peters, Jim Thiessen and Michael Toews.

Matt loved children and they were drawn to him. Therefore in lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, contributions in Matt's memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3J2.

The family wishes to thank the RCMP and the divers who assisted in the search for Matt. A special thank you to all of Matt's many friends who have shown their care and concern and who joined the family in their vigil and also to the volunteers who assisted in the search for Matt. Thanks and appreciation is also expressed to the compassionate and loving relatives and friends of Matt and the family during this difficult time.

"No words we speak can ever say
how much we'll miss Matt every day.

He is in our hearts forever."

CHARLES JOHN FRIESEN
July 25, 1959 – July 27, 2011

Chuck was raised on the farm, faithfully attended church and developed a personal relationship with Christ Jesus at a young age. He was involved in Pleasant Valley EMC in many ways, and especially enjoyed preaching. His last sermon was delivered June 26, 2011.

Chuck attended S.B.C., T.W.U. in B.C., and T.E.D.S in Chicago, Illinois, and formed lasting relationships as friends and mentors with Harvey Plett from S.B.C., and Harold Faw from T.W.U. Chuck continued to study at Providence College & Seminary this past winter. One of Chuck’s passions was Greek, another was his studies. He translated the gospel of John from Greek to English at least once and wrote many papers for personal challenge. The more he studied, the more he became sure of his faith in Christ.

In the summer of 2009, Chuck was diagnosed with colon cancer. Together with Julia, Chuck sought God’s healing both physically and emotionally, and he never lost faith in the love and grace of Christ. In fact, Chuck’s faith continued to grow stronger as his focus on Jesus became clearer. On Wednesday, July 27, while held in the arms of his beloved wife, Julia, Chuck entered Heaven’s Glory, and left his ailing body behind. He finished STRONG.

Thank you to Dr. Fraser of Morris Hospital and Dr Menzies of Boundary Trails Health Center, as well as all the nursing & medical staff, for their wonderful care. Thank you to friends and family for your love and support.

Psalm 149:4 “For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.”
